House Republicans Gear Up To Sue President Obama Via WashingtonPost : House Republicans voted to proceed with a lawsuit against President Obama on Wednesday, saying that his executive actions are so extreme that they violate the Constitution. The nearly party-line vote — all Democrats voted against it, and all but five Republicans voted for it — further agitated an already polarized climate on Capitol Hill as both parties used the pending suit to try to rally support ahead of the November elections. Halfway across the continent, Obama almost gloated at the prospect of being sued. “They’re going to sue me for taking executive actions to help people. So they’re mad I’m doing my job,” Obama said in an economics speech in Kansas City, Mo. “And by the way, I’ve told them I’d be happy to do it with you. The only reason I’m doing it on my own is because you’re not doing anything,” he said of Congress. The lawsuit is the culmination of heightened conflict since Obama took office in 2009, particularly since Boehner became speaker more than three years ago. It is also unprecedented in its nature. Plenty of congressmen, of both parties, have filed lawsuits or briefs in support of suits against presidents. Generally, federal judges dismiss the cases because usually only those affected by the law had standing to file suit. Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (N.Y.), the ranking Democrat on the Rules Committee, called it a “monumental waste of time, energy and funds” that was designed only to encourage conservative voters to back Republicans this fall. “This is a political maneuver timed to peak as Americans are going to the polls in November for the midterm elections,” Slaughter said. “This lawsuit is the drumbeat pushing members of the Republican Party to impeachment.” “Stop being mad all the time. Stop just hatin’ all the time,” Obama said at the Uptown Theater. “Everyone sees this as a political stunt, but it’s worse than that because every vote they’re taking . . . means a vote they’re not taking to help people.” You’d think with 7 years of Obama having been in office, these racists Republicans would get over it and try to come to some practical solutions for our issues, rather than just whining, pulling stunts, and throwing up roadblocks to everything our President has to do.
White Man Slaps Elderly Black Female Judge For Smoking Near Him A scumbag business owner has a local Chicago community in an uproar after he reportedly slapped an iconic 79-year-old African-American judge across the face before spitting on her and calling her “Rosa Parks”…..all because she was smoking a cigarette in his presence. via Chicago Tribune A North Side business owner slapped a 79-year-old Cook County judge in the face, spit on her and called her “Rosa Parks” after becoming angry that she was smoking near him outside the Daley Center, authorities said. Monday’s attack outside the courthouse came as a shock to friends of Judge Arnette Hubbard, a silver-haired African-American jurist who was the first female president of the National Bar Association and Cook County Bar Association, both black lawyers’ groups. “She’s an icon in our community,” said Delores Robinson, past president of the Cook County Bar Association, who noted that Hubbard, a former commissioner on the Cook County Board of Elections, had been an international election observer in Haiti and South Africa and had long been a voice on civil rights and women’s issues. Cook County prosecutors said Tuesday that Hubbard was outside the Daley Center smoking a cigarette when she walked past David C. Nicosia, 55, who became angry that she was smoking near him. The two argued and Nicosia, who is white, stepped near her face and said, “Rosa Parks, move,” and spit in her face, prosecutors said. As he walked away, the Law Division judge followed him and called out for assistance. Nicosia then turned and allegedly slapped the judge on the left side of her face with an open hand, prosecutors said. He was then arrested by sheriff’s deputies and charged with four counts of aggravated battery and a hate crime. Judge James Brown ordered him held on $90,000 bail Tuesday. Violence should never be the answer, but his sorry excuse for a man has clearly never had a good old fashioned his azz beating. We’re calling Solange….

Instead they are being put in detention centers around the country. Lancelin is out with the local news in Houston because a closed middle school that hasn’t been used in years is now on the list to become another detention center. And she, among others, is furious about it. She says: It’s not right. Now billions of dollars want to be borrowed from the White House to help feed and house them. What about the kids here? In our neighborhood? In our country? Not just in this neighborhood but in our country. All these kids? Really? Why can’t they go back? I’m sorry that their parents are in poor living conditions or surroundings or whatever’s going on out there. I don’t care. I care about what’s going on right here in my own back yard, my neighborhood. Am i the only one in this community that’s out here that watches the news this morning. Oh, my god! Congress Rejects New Law That Would Decrease Criminalizatoin Of Black People In D.C. A recently rejected law in Washington D.C. has many in the black community convinced that Congress purposely blocked the legislation because it would have greatly minimized the criminalization of black people in the district. via Kulture Kritic Despite the recent vote by Washington D.C.’s Council to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, the law will not go into effect. Alternet is reporting that Congress has exercised its right to review the law. This is despite the fact that D.C. has no voting representatives in Congress. Maryland Republican Representative Andy Harris is responsible for introducing an amendment to the District of Columbia Appropriations Bill that effectively negates the decriminalization law. In a press release from the ACLU, executive director Monica Hopkins-Maxwell states, “By any measure, the war on drugs, particularly on marijuana, has been a failure and severely impacted black communities and communities of color. Today’s rider passage is a detrimental blow in the D.C. Council’s attempt to enact smarter, fairer laws that address racial disparities and the mass incarceration of communities of color.” According to a 2013 ACLU-NCA study, D.C. law enforcement made 5,393 marijuana related arrests in 2010 with 91 percent of those arrested being black. The study also found that black people were eight times more likely to be arrested for pot possession in D.C. than whites. The decriminalization law would have reduced these outcomes by no longer allowing prosecution for possession of small amounts of marijuana, which clearly have a disproportionate impact on people of color. Gotta know when to hold ‘em, and when to fold ‘em… Criminal Shot After Betting Victim Was Unarmed An aspiring robber got shot up after betting his would-be victim that he didn’t have a gun to fight him off with. Some gambles just aren’t the best idea. Via KPTV : A man with a gunshot wound was reported, Friday morning, at an apartment complex called the Pines on Watkins Drive; but he wasn’t shot there. Jackson police say, shortly before that, a guest at a nearby Motel 6 had a run in with the man in the rear parking lot. They say the guest was approached by a man asking for cigarettes. The hotel guest said he didn’t have any cigarettes. The man began to walk away, when , police say, he turned around and said “I bet you don’t have one of these”, pointing a gun in his direction. The guest did have “one of these,” and began firing at the suspect. He reportedly hit the man at least once. The shooting victim left and was later picked up by ambulance at the Pines apartments. He was hospitalized, but is not being identified at this time. WELP! Bet he’ll think twice about who he runs up on in the future.
