SuperBooker is ready to take it to the next level Newark Mayor Cory Booker Announces That He Is Running For Senator Via HuffingtonPost Newark Mayor Cory Booker on Saturday formally announced he’s in the race to finish the U.S. Senate term of the late Frank Lautenberg. The 44-year-old Democrat made his candidacy official at a news conference Saturday in Newark, New Jersey’s largest city. He was joined by former U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley, a former pro basketball player who for 18 years held the seat Booker is seeking. Bradley, who endorsed Booker, called him “the right person for the right office at the right time.” Booker began raising money for a Senate run even before Lautenberg, who died Monday, announced retirement plans in February. He had raised $1.9 million by the end of the last reporting period in March. Reps. Frank Pallone and Rush Holt are also planning to enter the Democratic primary. Booker is considered the early front-runner. Pallone, 61, had $3.7 million in his campaign coffers at the end of March and has deep union support. Holt, 64, a former research physicist, had $800,000 on hand. No need to worry though, Cory has always been gangsta at gettin’ gwap. According to a Senate campaign filing made in May, Booker has brought in $1.3 million for 90 speeches he has given around the country since 2008. His campaign says he has donated the majority of that money to charities that serve Newark. Booker’s campaign has said that the networking he does ultimately helps the city. In 2010, he was seated next to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg at a dinner during a conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. Two months later, Zuckerberg announced a $100 million donation to improve education in Newark. Would you cast a vote for Newark’s charismatic mayor?

Ted Nugent Says Obama Wants To Rape The Constitution According to Raw Story In typically bombastic language, National Rifle Association chairman Ted Nugent claimed Thursday that President Barack Obama’s agenda involves raping the U.S. Constitution and urinating on the nation’s Founding Fathers by passing gun regulations that restrict the sale of assault rifles and high-capacity magazines. “Clearly their agenda is banning guns, not banning criminals or saving lives,” he wrote for conservative conspiracy website World Net Daily, couching his thesis in the tale of a murderer who was released from prison and went on to kill again. “And their morally bankrupt agenda is wrong, anti-American and counterproductive. Their agenda will achieve nothing except to rape our Constitution and urinate on the vision of our Founding Fathers.” It’s not clear how the proposed regulations pose such an affront to the constitution — the Second Amendment explicitly says it provides for states to maintain a “well regulated militia” — but Nugent was adamant that if individuals do not have unlimited access to deadly weapons, freedom will surely die. That’s a typical screed for the Detroit-born rocker, whose modern fame is more due to his alarming commentaries on guns in America than his music. Nugent came face to face with Secret Service agents last April when he claimed that he’d be “dead or in jail” within a year if Obama won a second term. He’s not been jailed just yet, but did claim in January that he and some buddies are ready to launch an armed revolt against the government. Despite Nugent’s absolutist views on gun rights, his brother Jeffrey explained in May that he believes the nation will move forward with gun regulations “with or without” the NRA. “Let’s see if the NRA and its new leaders step up and do what is right,” he wrote. “If not, it will get done without them. We all have a role here, especially to protect our children. Who is going to be the voice for them?” Somebody needs to give grandpa his medicine.

North Carolina Lawmakers Vote To Repeal Racial Justice Act The majority Republican North Carolina House lawmakers have voted to do a way with the remaining parts of the Racial Justice Act, which provides death row inmates to contest their death sentences if they can prove that racial discrimination played a part in the sentencing. via WRAL House lawmakers have given tentative removal to repeal the remaining sections of the North Carolina’s Racial Justice Act, the 2009 law that allows death row inmates to seek to have their sentences commuted to life without parole if they can prove that racial bias played a role in their death sentence. Republican leaders repealed large portions of the law in 2012. Senate Bill 306 would repeal what’s left of the law, leaving in limbo scores of cases pending review under it. Rep. Skip Stam, R-Wake, said the RJA had become a de facto moratorium on the death penalty. “No one wants actual racial discrimination. What we don’t want also is for race to be used for a pretext – a pretext in order to stop the death penalty,” he said in Tuesday’s floor debate. “We don’t need this Racial Justice Act,” said Rep. Sarah Stevens, R-Surry. “It has created nothing but a delay in the system, a tremendous amount of cost.” While the motives of the right-wing goons are always questionable at best, this IS kind of a tricky issue. Wait… WHAT ?!? Saxby Chambliss Blames Sexual Assault On Hormone Levels Via RawStory reports: Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) on Tuesday suggested that the “hormone level created by nature” was to blame for rapes in the military and that all pregnant servicewomen should be investigated to make sure their condition was the result of consensual sex. At a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on sexual assaults within the military, Chambliss opined that the Pentagon’s decision to allow women in combat roles was only going to make the problem worse. The Georgia Republican recalled that “several years ago when we had the first females go out on an aircraft carrier, when they returned to port, a significant percentage of those females were pregnant.” “Was any investigation made by the Navy following that incident to determine whether or not all of those pregnancies occurred as a result of consensual acts?” he asked Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan Greenert. The admiral replied that he did not have details of the incident immediately available, but he pledged to follow up. Chambliss noted that Democratic proposals to modify the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and take sexual assault reporting outside of the victim’s chain of command might not work because young servicemen were being driven by their “nature.” “The young folks coming in to each of your services are anywhere from 17 to 22 or 23,” he pointed out. “Gee-whiz, the hormone level created by nature sets in place the possibility for these types of things to occur. So, we’ve got to be very careful on our side.” Watch this video from NBC News… WTF is he trying to say?? It doesn’t matter what the reason is. It should be handled by someone outside the chain of command and especially not by the current commander. Rape is not a combat decision and we don’t care if the rapist is your ace sniper.

There’s a war goin’ on outside that no black smoker is safe from… Study Shows Blacks Four Times More Likely To Be Arrested For Drug Possession Via HuffingtonPost The U.S. War on Mary Jane is not just costly, time-consuming and unnecessary — it’s also racially biased, according to a new report. In recent years, several states have passed laws that decriminalized Mary Jane, and a majority of Americans now support legalizing the drug. Yet between 2001 and 2010, there were over 8 million Mary Jane arrests in the U.S. What’s worse, the authorities making the arrests were targeting black Americans far more than whites. According to a new study from the American Civil Liberties Union, which tracked Mary Jane arrests by race and county in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, black and white Americans use Mary Jane at about the same rate. However, blacks were nearly four times as likely than whites to be arrested on charges of Mary Jane possession in 2010. In Washington D.C., Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois, blacks were 7.5 to 8.5 times more likely than whites to be arrested for possessing Mary Jane. Most of the people being arrested weren’t drug kingpins. Fifty-two percent of all drug arrests in 2010 were for Mary Jane, and according to the ACLU’s analysis, most of the arrestees were in possession of small amounts of the drug. Having a black president hasn’t eased this racial disparity, either. During President Barack Obama’s first three years in office, the arrest rate for Mary Jane possession was about 5 percent higher than the average rate under President George W. SMH: VA School Board Members Forced To Resign After Racist Azz Emails Referring To Michelle Obama

When will people learn??? Racist emails = loss of job. Via NBC 12: A Virginia school board is calling for the resignation of one of its members, after he emailed what some called racist and inappropriate messages to his colleagues. This all goes back to the Isle of Wight school board member Herb Degroft and an e-mail he sent containing naked women and a reference to First Lady Michelle Obama. He forwarded two emails from his county email account. One had a picture with bare-breasted, African female warriors with the caption “Michelle Obama’s high school reunion.” Another e-mail claimed Mrs. Obama was paid $50 to model in National Geographic. Some board members say they have been receiving similar e-mails from Degroft since January of 2012. In retrospect, Degroft admits he made a mistake. He says the e-mails were meant to be political, not racist. When it comes to resigning from his position, he said he is not going anywhere. However, that’s up to voters to decide. He wasn’t the only one who forwarded the e-mails. Isle of Wight Supervisor Byron Bailey did as well. The local NAACP and other community members are asking for both men to resign. SMH.
