Taylor Armstrong has released a memoir that she claims is all about helping victims of abuse , not profiting from the August 2011 suicide of husband Russell. Of course, organizations that help victims of abuse are still waiting for their proceeds from sales of “Hiding from Reality.” New excerpts from this book have now hit the Internet, so you may read them for yourself and judge Taylor accordingly: On her sex life with Russell : He would make comments when we were sexual… about my weight. No woman needs to be criticized in that moment – criticisms about having sex with me is like ‘having sex with a skeleton.’ On still loving Russell : I love him to this day and miss him terribly. I got out way too late. I hope by others hearing the story they may get out sooner. When I wrote Hiding From Reality, I wanted it real and honest. Some of it was difficult to write. On the lasting scars of abuse : I think you can see my eye has healed, but these things are going to stick with me a long time and sometimes, the emotional can hurt worse than the physical almost. What do you think of Taylor Armstrong releasing a memoir?
But Jennifer Lawrence is less excited about her singing: ‘I am a horrible singer. And I’m an even worse person to be around when I’m singing.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jennifer Lawrence Photo: MTV News For our fellow “Hunger Games” fans who obsess over Suzanne Collins’ brilliant books and their upcoming film adaptations as much as we do, there are so many things to love about the story that it’s difficult to pick just one or two (or five) things we’re looking forward to seeing when the movie opens March 23. But two of the most intriguing elements involved in the book-to-movie translation are what the Capitol will look like and how star Jennifer Lawrence will sound singing Rue’s Lullaby. MTV News was lucky enough to get a few hints about those specific topics during our recent chat with Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, both of whom can’t wait to see the Capitol in the finished film but disagree about their excitement for Lawrence’s singing skills. “[I’m excited to see] everything in the Capitol,” Lawrence said. “Every time we showed up at a Capitol scene, I was so blown away. Everything was more than you could have even imagined.” “What was cool about the stuff in the Capitol, so much was practical,” Hutcherson added. “The whole apartment scene was all a set they built that was super, incredibly futuristic and amazing, and to see how that is integrated with the whole green-screen world as well is going to be really, really cool.” Lawrence was not quite as enthusiastic about hearing her voice in the film, however. When we brought up the subject, she seemed to immediately get nervous about it. “Oh God, oh God. Yeah, I did [sing],” she said when asked about recording “Rue’s Lullaby.” “I’m a terrible singer.” “She’s not,” Hutcherson said. “No, Josh! Stop,” Lawrence said to Hutcherson with sincerity. “He is messing with everyone.” “She’s been called the songbird of her generation,” Hutcherson jumped in with a smile, referencing a Will Ferrell line in “Step Brothers.” “My voice is a combination of Fergie and Jesus,” Lawrence played along. “No, I am a horrible singer. And I’m an even worse person to be around when I’m singing. I’m a terrible singer. I hated it.” Lawrence said the recording process with famed producer T-Bone Burnett was particularly excruciating. “T-Bone Burnett, like, the best person to ever happen to music is, like, listening in the other room. I kept getting ready, and then the music would play, and I’d [freak out],” she recalled. “Nothing would come out of my mouth.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . My name is Alexis and I never, in a million years thought I would be writing a Bieber experience. It happened on February 4, 2012, also known as my dad’s birthday! Yes on my dad’s birthday, he took me to see Justin! I was home watching ‘Never Say Never’ and when it was done, I went to my room to sleep early cause I didn’t get to go to the studio and I was soooo upset. My brother came into my room, woke me up and said, “Get up we are going”. I was shocked and said, “Where?” He answered, “To see Justin!” I FREAKED OUT! I haven’t gotten ready that fast in my life! (By the way, I live an hour away from the studio so even if we didn’t see Justin, I was gonna be happy and grateful) The real part of the night started off at 12ish when we got there! I had been there the night before and only gotten a picture with Justin’s security, Moshe. We got there and there was no people compared to the day before so my parents said we were gonna stay until he comes out! At about 1am Justin came out and skateboarded! This was after I got Mike and Moshe’s signature. As Justin was skateboarding, everyone was screaming and he tried to get us quiet but come on it’s Justin. No one could stop freaking out! After I asked him questions, he smiled and waved at me . He even stared right at me! Someone had asked him something and I forgot what he said but I answered at an awkward-quiet moment and said something like, “We love you and we are your beliebers” and Justin looked up at me and said, “I know”. Then I freaked out and yelled out, “OMB YOU TALKED TO ME”. He laughed and kept skating! As time went by, I asked more questions and he answered. Later on, Fredo went by and touched my hand! THAT WAS ONE OF MY DREAMS IN LIFE! At about 1:45am, Justin went around and signed everything everyone had! Justin touched my hand and I was just saying thank you over and over again. This had been the day, I had been waiting for the past couple years. I didn’t get a picture with Justin because he went inside! When he left, EVERYONE LEFT! But me and my sister were like, hey mom and dad, can we stay a little longer? SO WE DID! Best decision ever. My sister and I were standing across the road and we were the only car left. My sister said to me, Scooter is coming, so we walked to the gate and Scooter and Moshe noticed us and walked over! At this time, it was just me and my family (meaning my 3 sisters, parents, brother and sister’s friend!) We talked to Scooter but then about 15 people showed up. We talked to Scooter some more, got pictures and just had a great time! It didn’t feel like we were talking to someone famous at all, just an everyday person and I liked that. After Scooter talked to my dad and all of us! We got Scooter to call @blackollg on the phone because I was the only one who knew her and he wanted to thank her cause she is one of the most dedicated beliebers ever! Scooter didn’t even get through half of her Twitter name when he asked who knew her, and I was screaming “Omg I know her, that’s Shelly!” Then I realized I had her phone number! We called but no answer so he left her a voicemail! Let me just say she called me an hour later thanking Scooter and I! I was honored to be the one to tell Scooter about her! He even made a video for her and he used my phone! The entire night Justin, Scooter, Moshe, and Mike touched my phone! Then Scooter told us a story no one knows about Justin! I will never share it cause it’s between Scooter, Justin and all of us! It was the best night of my life. Then about 2 seconds after the story, my sister looks at me and goes, “That’s Justin” and everyone went crazy but he told us to please be quiet! He skated and talked to us but the paps came and he asked them to leave and we all were yelling at the paps! Justin was like, “here” and he posed and said, “Can you please leave now”. We told Justin that Scooter told us the story and he laughed! Throughout the night, Justin said ass and crap and I was like Omg our baby is growing up haha! Also, Justin’s voice is COMPLETELY different than ever! It’s so deep and cute! Finally he fell off his skateboard and just laid there and we were going insane of how funny it was. After he left, we talked to Scooter, got more pictures and later on that night at 5am, Scooter followed me on Twitter. It was the perfect night! My dream came true. To everyone who thinks this will never happen, say “NEVER SAY NEVER”. Look how far it got me. I owe it all to my parents, Scooter and Justin! THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU. The CRAZIEST part of last night was it didn’t feel like they were celebrities at all. They are normal people. – @alexissBieber17 Read more: My name is Alexis and I never, in a million years thought I…
My name is Poppy Adkins. I’m 15 and I am from England . I never win anything and have always been so unlucky, so winning this massive competition was crazy. I heard everyone on Twitter was entering a T4 competition to fly out to LA and meet Justin at Paramount Studios and it was also the same competition that came with the Never Say Never DVD. I thought it was worth giving it a try! I forgot that I even entered when I came home from school one day and my parents sat me down and told me they got a call from T4 telling them I had won and me and my mum were going to meet Justin Bieber in 2 weeks time in LA! The day came when I met him and me and all the winners from other countries were all waiting together for Justin to arrive. Fi nally Kenny and Justin came in. Justin was so cute and said hi to everyone! I was second or third to meet him so I walked over & we hugged . Then we talked for a bit about where I was from etc and I thanked him for everything. Kenny took the photo and couldn’t work my mums camera, so me and Justin were standing next to each other for ages, waiting for the picture to take! He signed my book and we carried on talking and then he said, “Thank you so much for coming all this way”. I watched everyone else meet him and he looked over smiled and waved at me! Justin if you read this, thank you so much for everything. It was the best day of my life! And to all the fans, I hope you all get a chance to meet him! NEVER SAY NEVER! – @poppyjoadkins The rest is here: My name is Poppy Adkins. I’m 15 and I am from England. I…
My name is Katya and I’m 15 years old & I live in South Florida . On Wednesday February 2, 2012 my dad took me to the studio in Miami because the one and only Justin Bieber was going to be there. I called him during school to tell him and he knows that I’ve been through so much that he agreed to take me. I’ve been a belieber for 3 long years and I am obsessed with Justin. I have attended 2 concerts, flown to NYC for the book signing and entered millions of contests to try to meet him and never have actually met him. My little sister met him before I did in summer of 2010 and I was completely devastated. I kept asking why this would happen to me, when I was the one who knew everything about Justin and I was the obsessed one. All I wanted was to meet him even more. Thanksgiving was coming up and I heard about Justin’s book signing in NYC so I convinced my parents to take me and well lets just say that I waited in the rain/cold weather for 7 hours and when they did the head count for 1000 girls, the line got cut in front of me. I went to the hotel, fell asleep and when I woke up, it turns out they had let another 1000 girls in! I lost all the hope I had. People kept telling me, “good things happen to those who wait, be patient” but all I ever thought of was how I was never going to meet him. Then 2012 began and my New Years resolution was to meet him and on February 2nd it all payed off. I got to the studio around 7:50 and by 8:00, 10 girls and I were watching Justin Bieber walk over to us . I surprisingly was clam due to the fact that I kept thinking “this is a dream”. Things like this don’t happen to people like me. He came over with his hands in his pocket and said, “How’d you girls know I was here?” laughing and smiling! At this point, I couldn’t hold it in so I blared, “OMG Justin. I love you SO much! This is like a dream come true for me” and he replied, “Love you too” . Alfredo was with him and one thing led to another, Justin took all our cameras and handed them to Alfredo for a group photo. Justin got right infront of me but before Alfredo took pictures, Justin Bieber ducked and stuck out his hands, I GRABBED ON TO IT and Alfredo started clicking away!! We were behind the gate but nothing stopped me from being the happiest girl there! I was there until midnight and saw him skateboard like 4 feet away from me , and well we had a full on conversation! I had no thoughts, words or worries because I had finally met Justin Bieber. The next morning, the picture of us holding hands was all over Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, OceanUp, Miami Herald and even on Local News! The best part about it was that Justin tweeted the picture , which means that he hopefully saw my face and our hands locking! Yesterday and today walking down the school hallway is like walking down a red carpet. Some people know me as the girl who held Justin’s hand! I still don’t know how to feel but all I know is that all my praying and 11:11 wishes came true in one night. DONT EVER GIVE UP! JUSTIN I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THERE AREN’T WORDS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING. YOU HAVE MADE MY YEAR!! Originally posted here: My name is Katya and I’m 15 years old & I live in…
MTV News takes a closer look at the latest sneak peek. By Kara Warner Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Anytime we see anything new from “The Hunger Games,” it’s like Christmas came early around here. On Thursday (February 2), we were gifted with a brand-new teaser trailer for the film, which is set to air on Super Bowl Sunday. The one-minute spot features some familiar elements shown in the first full-length trailer , but there are also several juicy new items to look out for. Here are the five key scenes in the new “Hunger Games” teaser: Silver-Tongued Caesar Flickerman Finally, we’re starting to get sneak peeks at more key “Hunger Games” players. In this case, we get a good long look at (and listen to) Stanley Tucci as sweet-talking official “Games” interviewer Caesar Flickerman. Think of an over-caffeinated, duplicitous Matt Lauer, if you will. Flickerman’s job is to get the tributes to open up to him and “perform” for the Capitol audience. There is a perfect example in the teaser, as Tucci-as-Flickerman asks Katniss a loaded, personal question: “What did you say to your sister when you volunteered at the reaping?” “I told her I would try to win for her,” Katniss answers sincerely. “And try you will,” Flickerman adds with dramatic intonation in his voice, before bending down and kissing Katniss’ hand. Katniss Gives Prim The Mockingjay Pin For the book lovers out there, yes, this scene is different from how Suzanne Collins wrote it in the book, but it makes sense in the emotional context of the film. We see Katniss give her little sister a mockingjay pin and say, “As long as you have it, nothing bad will happen to you, I promise.” This is significant because the mockingjay is seen as a rebellious symbol to the Capitol. It should also be familiar to fans who’ve read the books, as the symbol graces the cover of “The Hunger Games.” Cinna’s Secret Gift This one relates to the opening scene of the teaser. Just before Katniss is sent up to the arena for the start of the Games, her intuitive stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) pulls out the mockingjay pin that she gave her sister back in District 12 and pins it underneath Katniss’ jacket. It’s a powerful moment, in that it shows how in tune Cinna is with his tribute and that he believes in her strength, along with the fact that Prim somehow sent it along, because Katniss promised her that “nothing bad will happen” to her if she wears it. Katniss in Her Yellow Dress Again, this one is for our fellow readers of the book, but holy cow, they show Katniss in her yellow dress! It’s a very brief moment, but a loaded one. Without going into spoilers, because there are more than a few surrounding this particular look, the yellow dress Katniss wears is her most innocent-looking. Cinna designed it to showcase the softer side of the “girl on fire,” and the color was to be more like candlelight than flames. More President Snow And Effie Trinket We’ll take as many teases of the supporting players as possible, like the brief glimpse we get of Donald Sutherland’s likely first scene in the movie as President Snow. “Welcome! And Happy Hunger Games!” he says via a big-screen monitor transmitting the opening of the games from the Capitol. His voice has the perfect amount of gravitas and disturbing excitement for the upcoming bloodbath. And the puffiness of his white hair only adds to his menacing-but-stately look. Plus, we get a little more from uppity type-A escort Effie Trinkett, who eats up anything and everything official from the Capitol. “I just love that!” she says breathily after President Snow kicks off the reapings. Nearly a month after its Oscar-qualifying run found it alienating critics in New York and Los Angeles (and almost two months since indelibly, ignominiously entering the zeitgeist as The Daldry ), this week finally finds Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close reaching theaters nationwide. And while roughly half of reviewers to date have lauded director Stephen Daldry’s adaptation of the Jonathan Safran Foer novel, the other half has issues — big issues — with everything from lead actor Thomas Horn to Daldry’s handling of the book’s central tragedy of 9/11. It’s no Jack and Jill , but that’s no reason not to throw on a raincoat and go frolic in the bile. Wish you were here, David Denby ! 9. “Despite its overweening literary pretensions, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is about as artistically profound as those framed 3-D photos of the Twin Towers emblazoned with ‘Never Forget’ that are still for sale in Times Square a decade after 9/11. What better mouthpiece for an author, or a filmmaker, to use as a way of exploring the personal cost of a great communal tragedy. Mireille Enos also addresses controversy swirling around upcoming ‘World War Z.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Mireille Enos in “The Killing” Photo: AMC Mireille Enos can’t seem to stay away from controversy these days. Two of her biggest projects, AMC’s “The Killing” and this year’s “World War Z” have recently come under heavy scrutiny from fans, but at Sunday’s Golden Globes , Enos assured MTV News that both projects are headed in the right direction. Fans of Max Brooks’ novel recently lashed out when word came down from the set of “World War Z” that significant changes had been made to the overall structure of the story. In what may be a relief to fans, Enos admitted that liberties were taken but said that the core remains the same. “I definitely found the book very important, just to get into the mind of Max Brooks and the kind of story that he was trying to tell,” she told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. “Actually, the book is about human nature in the midst of crisis. Even though the context is different in the film, that’s still the heart of it, and I’m so glad that was carried over.” She also expanded on the part she plays, as well as Brad Pitt ‘s role, and how those characters factor into the changes made to the story. “The book is narrated by a character who is now in the film, and I play that character’s wife,” she said. When “The Killing” season finale aired last June, fans cried foul that the show ended without revealing Rosie Larsen’s killer. Enos told us on Sunday that she couldn’t understand the outrage. “I was so baffled, actually, by people not liking the ending. A cliffhanger is such a classic writing device,” she said. “If you’re enjoying the journey, why not want more?” For season two, however, Enos promised a quicker show with much higher stakes. “The pace accelerates. The stakes jump by tenfold. Everything gets more and more personal, and the writing is so exceptional,” she said. “We shot the first three episodes, and our eyes are like this [ makes bulging eye motion ] at the end of every episode. It’s really going to be awesome.” Check out everything we’ve got on “World War Z.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
