For ‘Breaking Dawn’ Fans, Once Isn’t Enough

‘Twilight’ enthusiasts’ repeat viewings could keep flick box-office king. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Happy “Twilight” Tuesday ! It’s time for another installment in our resurrected series of columns dedicated to all things regarding Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Jacob Black and the rest. Today’s topic: Just how long will “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1” reign as box-office king? Knowing the serious dedication the “Twilight” fanbase has to the film franchise, it’s no surprise “Breaking Dawn” dominated the box office during its opening weekend. And even with a slew of highly anticipated films opening this weekend — “The Muppets,” “Hugo” and “Arthur Christmas” among them — the fervor still surrounding “Breaking Dawn” and fans’ commitment to see the film multiple times means that the vampires and werewolves are very likely to hold the #1 spot for a while. “I have seen the movie twice,” Cade Johnson, of Salinas, California, told MTV News via email. “I would like to see it in theaters at least four times, maybe five,” he said. “It is definitely the best out of the four so far, in my opinion.” Yvonne R. Villani of Hiram, Georgia, has also vowed to see the film multiple times and has a strategy in place for how to keep herself immersed in “Twilight” goodness as long as possible: “I’ve seen this movie multiple times and plan on seeing it a few more times because I just really liked it!” she said. “I have been waiting all year and part of last year, since I read the book, for this movie to come out. I have ‘Breaking Dawn’ both in paperback and audio CD, so I figure I will start either reading it or listening to it again this week, then when I get to where the movie left-off, I will go see it again to remind myself of the differences and really compare.” “Twilight” expert Laura Byrne-Cristiano, who runs TwilightLexicon.com , said she’s noticed a lot of fans changing their opinions about “Breaking Dawn” the book now that the film version has opened. “I’ve also noticed a real shift in opinion that caught me by surprise so much so that I ran a poll about it,” said Byrne-Cristiano said. “When the novel ‘Breaking Dawn’ came out, it was a love/hate thing. But from what I’ve seen, people have really started to change their minds about it, and have come to like it. “The people who got into ‘Twilight’ after the movies came out seem to pick ‘Breaking Dawn’ as their favorite book by a landslide, which is something that never occurred to me in a million years because of all the backlash when it first came out.” So, what is it about these films that has fans so engrossed and committed? It’s a “clean movie” with universal appeal, according to fan and repeat viewer Alessandra Sorgato, who wrote to us all the way from Milan, Italy. “I’m glad that so many people can identify themselves with the characters of ‘The Twilight Saga,’ ” she said. “It kind of surprises me because Stephenie Meyer wrote a love story which is anything but ordinary — it’s not based on sex, adultery and things like that. Lately it has become quite unusual to see movies focused on morals like eternal love, true friendship, the value of family at the top of the box office,” she added. ” ‘Breaking Dawn’ is a ‘clean movie,’ still it’s very successful all over the world, and I love it.” Speaking of worldwide love and success, we found out via a quick Twitter poll that there are a slew of very dedicated fans out there who have already seen “Breaking Dawn” six times, with one on her way to a 20th viewing! “I will keep going till they stop playing it!” wrote Robyn Smyly . “I will see it 6 times and my fave scene is when Bella takes her ‘human minutes’ when they get on the island,” said Kalynn Drake . “I’ve officially seen it 5 times now as of yesterday afternoon. What can I say? I’m addicted,” admitted fan Jodi-Lynn . “I plan on seeing BD at least a dozen times in theatre, I’ve already seen it three times,” Mel Douglas chimed in. There are so many more where those came from, but the award so far for most viewings definitely goes to Fran Richards , who wowed us with this stat: “I have seen Breaking Dawn [Part] 1 a total of 19 times so far,” she wrote. “Doing a 5 show marathon today!” What would you like to see on “Twilight” Tuesdays? Selena Gomez Needs To Drop The Dead Weight

Here are Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber out on the town together yesterday. I guess she’s sticking with this kid, at least for now. What a shame. Anyhow, they look like a very happy lesbian couple, I wish them nothing but the best in the upcoming softball season. Obviously I couldn’t care less about the Bieber douche, but Selena is a hot little piece that can’t be ignore. Even if she is boning a teenager. Gross. Hopefully it’s just a fad she’ll grow out of and realize she’s been in love with a certain blogger for years now. Call me.

Nicole Scherzinger’s Bare Booty

So apparently Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and some buddies of his have created a coffee table book called Culo that’s filled with, you guessed it, a boatload of celebrity booty pictures. It’s about time! Here’s Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger’s sexy little contribution. Amazing! I can do without the silly fake tattoos, an ass this good doesn’t need decorations, but that is one hell of a sexy booty. Perfection. I think I might need a copy of this book.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Carolina Herrera Wedding Gown To Hit Stores

Also, Alfred Angelo’s official replica of the designer’s ‘Twilight’ dress is available nationwide for $799. By Rob Markman Alfred Angelo’s replica of Bella Swan’s dress from “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Alfred Angelo You too can look like Bella Swan on her wedding day now that the official replica of the elegant gown Kristen Stewart wore in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” is available in stores. The Carolina Herrera-designed dress that Stewart wore when she and Robert Pattinson traded vows onscreen arrived in stores on Monday, priced at $799, according to The Wall Street Journal . In addition to the movie’s much ballyhooed sex scene , fans eagerly anticipated the wedding scene, where Bella donned the glorious long-sleeve lace bridal gown. Though the film’s version of the dress was designed by Herrera, bridal retailer Alfred Angelo handled the replication and has been working with Summit Entertainment since May to get the item in stores in time for the film’s premiere. The dresses are available at Alfred Angelo stores nationwide. During our “MTV First: Breaking Dawn” live stream earlier this month, Stewart, flanked by co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner , described the fantasy nuptials as “realistically ceremonial” and “very, very emotional.” She even kept the dress a secret from her castmates, except for Pattinson, who caught a sneak peek, much to her dismay. “Nobody saw it until I walked out, which made me so …,” Stewart said, struggling for the right word. “It wasn’t about the dress, it was just everything involved. I was like, ugh, so very the center of attention at that very moment.” Herrera’s original design was, of course, inspired by the book. “I was called by Stephenie Meyer. We had to discuss a lot, but I was very inspired by her book and the description of the wedding,” Herrera said at the film’s premiere. “I was very flattered I was asked to do it; it’s a big scene for me.” Though she made the dress for Stewart, a big-time actress in one of the highest-grossing films of the year , Herrera approached the design just as she would any other bride. “Wedding dresses are different, because you have to know that it’s the most important day in the life of a woman,” she said. “You have to please the bride first of all, and it has to be a secret. I cannot talk about the dress before the groom sees it. I treated [Kristen Stewart’s Bella] like every other bride,” she admitted. “I think [Stewart] was very moved when she tried it on. And that means a lot, because she felt that it was the right one.” Would you purchase a replica of Bella Swan’s wedding gown for your special day? Tell us in the comments! Breaking Dawn Review: Light on Action, Heavy on Heart

Let’s face it: you are going to see Breaking Dawn . It doesn’t really matter if every critic give it a worse grade than Jack & Jill . It’s really only a matter of how many times you attend a showing this weekend, not whether or not you choose to do so. Still, what sort of expectations should you have for Edward and Bella’s big day? Will it meet expectations? Breaking Dawn Clip: Edward Defends His Family Yes, says our friend, Joel Amos, of Movie Fanatic. The wedding scene is a beauty to behold,” he writes, adding that “fans will be all sorts of a twitter” as they watch this beloved couple exchange vows. Taylor Lautner, meanwhile, “excels in capturing a man ,” someone truly coming in to his own, both physically and emotionally, while “living at a crossroads” due to his unrequited love for Bella. Don’t expect much action in this second-to-last installment of the franchise, but true Twihards will be happy that Breaking Dawn remains true to the book and to Stephenie Meyer’s’s vision. Noel Gallagher Soars With High Flying Birds

Former Oasis songwriter’s solo debut has earned rave reviews, none of which impress him all that much. By James Montgomery Noel Gallagher Photo: MTV News Given all the recent coverage of his run-in with Katie Holmes and various, life-altering ways , you may be unaware that Noel Gallagher , late of Oasis , has just released his first proper solo album, a rock-solid collection of tunes that run the gamut from psych-tinged burners (“[I Wanna Live in a Dream in My] Record Machine”) to straight-ahead churners (“Everybody’s on the Run”), with stops at just about every point in between. He’s called the disc Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, a nod to both the first Fleetwood Mac album and a Jefferson Airplane song of (roughly) the same name, and so far, things are soaring. It’s been greeted with glowing reviews, most of which seem to harp on the fact that the album represents “his best tunes in 15 years.” Of course, in typical Gallagher fashion, he’s not paying attention to any of it. “I didn’t read any of the reviews and think, ‘Well, these people think I’ve been writing crap songs for the last 15 years.’ I don’t think of things like that,” he told MTV News. “When I’m in the studio, I’m literally taking it song by song and then, you know, you get to the end of it. I got to say though, during the mixing of it, as each track was being finished, I was thinking, ‘This does sound really good. …’ “But I wouldn’t like to compare it to anything Oasis did, because that’s not fair,” he continued. “We were a band and I was writing songs for someone else to sing, so you can’t really compare the two. It’s just a good record, what can I say?” Humility was never his strong suit. Neither, apparently, was guitar playing. Because even though he slung the ax loud and often in Oasis, he never really considered himself to be a guitar player . Which is why, on High Flying Birds, he limited the showing off — there are, by unofficial count, just two solos on the whole album — and focused instead on doing what he loves best: writing killer tunes. “I guess when guitarists make solo records, there’s usually a lot of showing off. But I’ve been trying to convince for 20 years that I’m not a guitarist, I’m a songwriter. I played lead guitar in the band because everybody else, in the early days, was useless, so that kind of fell to me,” he laughed. “But it’s not something I ever thought I would put myself up there with John Squire or Johnny Marr or all those great British guitarists, that’s not my thing. My thing was songwriting. I only noticed [the lack of solos] when a friend of mine was listening to the finished version, and it got to track six and he went, ‘You know, that’s the first guitar solo,’ and I was like, ‘Wow, someone’s got an easy gig, doesn’t he?’ ” And since there’s not going to be an Oasis reunion in the cards anytime soon, Gallagher is focused on promoting Birds both here and abroad. He’s playing on just about every continent over the next six months and seems quite content to be doing nothing else. Especially attempting to figure out the machinations of the music industry of 2011 … a plan he abandoned long ago, thanks in no small part to his daughter. “She is into music, she’s never mentioned Justin Bieber to me … Lady Gaga’s her thing, and Rihanna and, is it, Miley Cyrus? All that kind of thing,” he said. “It’s kind of a rule, she’s got to like Oasis and her old fella, so she’s into that side of it. But her teenage rock years will come [and], no doubt, she’ll be into f—ing Nickelback as well.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Noel Gallagher

Taylor Lautner On Honeymoon Scene: ‘It’s About Time’

‘I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,’ Lautner tells MTV News. By Tiffany Miles, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Of all the buzz surrounding this week’s hugely anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the vast majority of fan rumblings and excitement have been about and for one scene and one scene only: the “honeymoon scene,” a.k.a. Bella and Edward’s sex scene. It’s a different story for the actors involved, specifically for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart , who have talked at length about how awkward filming the scene was. Their co-stars seem to be onboard with their enthusiasm for the “action,” however. When MTV News caught up with Taylor Lautner recently, he said he was ready for it. “I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,” Lautner said. “I think everybody will feel the same way. We’ve seen Edward and Bella in their relationship grow so much that it’s about time.” “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer told us at the “Breaking Dawn” premiere that the scene in the movie gives fans a lot more to see and think about than she did in the book. “I think it’s romantic, and it does give you more than the book does,” Meyer said. “I know some of the sites call it, instead of ‘fade to black,’ ‘fade to sad.’ They’d love to see more. I think this gives them that,” she said. “It gives them a romantic peek into the honeymoon. We don’t want to see too much.” Although everyone seems to be excited to see the honeymoon scene, Lautner still isn’t sure that Bella made the right decision when she chose Edward over his character, Jacob Black. When asked if he thought Bella made the wrong call, he jokingly said, “You know, I go back and forth with that one [question] still.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Lady Gaga Reads To Her Fans From Photo Book

Gaga does a little story time, reading the intro to her Terry Richardson-shot tome in a new video. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Lady Gaga’s Terry Richardson-shot photo book hits stores in less than a week, and as such, she’s decided to give her fans a sneak peek — with a little Mother Monster Story Time. In a new video posted on her YouTube channel, Gaga reads the intro she penned for the book, an essay about her relationship with Richardson that’s long on literary flourish and also serves as an examination of self, not to mention a rallying cry for those on the fringes of society. It is, to say the very least, very Gaga. Reclining on a couch in a black, sequined outfit (with matching chapeau), LG cracks the tome — which, she notes, is “dedicated to the Little Monsters, naturally ” — and pores over her prose. And somewhere, Terry Richardson is undoubtedly blushing. “Sometimes it seems as though I’ve waited my entire life to be photographed by Terry Richardson. With Terry, the relationship extends beyond the photograph, and if you’re lucky, he will teach you something truly profound about yourself,” she reads. “I have discovered through him that shame is an obsolete notion and apology is an injustice to any performance. … To say he is a free spirit is a tremendous understatement and to say that he, or I, make people uncomfortable is spot on. “Terry finds beauty in the most intricate and unassuming of places. His photography beckons the question over and over again: ‘Should there ever be limitations in art?’ Because when he captures me in a moment of such tandem and artistic human purity, I’m convinced the answer is that we must push the boundaries of culture through love and acceptance,” she continues. “There is no moment too strange, no angle unflattering … and never a time that I feel embarrassed or unsafe. Awaked in me is a perverse liberation inspiring me to feel that it is OK to view yourself as hyper-human. This is how Terry views me. I am so real, he says, that I am unreal.” Those seemingly “hyper-human” moments include unfiltered photographs taken over the course of 10 very hectic months, that feature of Gaga in dispose, including “waking up in the morning, brushing my teeth, in the bathroom, in the bathtub, in the shower,” as she explained to MTV News earlier this year. “The thing about Terry, if you know anything about his photography, is that nothing is staged; I mean, that’s sort of what he is renowned for. He can get you to do things and he can capture things that no one can ever capture,” she explained. “He could come backstage and he would say, ‘Oh my God, the fans! ‘ And I’d say ‘I know …’ And he’d say, ‘Baby, wow! ‘ And then he’d film me, like, peeing in a cup and, like, ridiculous things.” What are you expecting from the Lady Gaga photo book? Casey Anthony Movie in the Works at Lifetime

A new made-for-TV movie is set to examine the Casey Anthony case through the eyes of a man who thinks that the Florida mom got away with murder. We know, that could be about 150 million men. Specifically, Lifetime would adapt the book Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony by retired Florida prosecutor Jeff Ashton, according to reports . Casey Anthony has remained in hiding since her July acquittal . The film would tell the story of the three years Ashton and his team spent preparing and prosecuting the 25-year-old in a high-profile case that left America outraged. “I have seen my share of liars, but never one quite like this,” Ashton writes. Fox TV Studios has optioned the rights to the book, though Lifetime hasn’t given the green light to the film yet. Still, it’s hard to imagine a movie more up their alley. As for a possible book deal for Anthony herself, publishers have been lukewarm to the idea. Probably because of the whole giving-money-to-a-possible-killer thing.
