According to the Associated Press, the media maven recently purchased a 10 percent stake at Weight Watchers for approximately $43.2 million. The acquisition scored the businesswoman nearly 6.4 million shares of the company. As a result of the five-year partnership, Weight Watchers has earned the right to use Winfrey’s name, image, likeness and endorsement for the brand’s programs, products and services with her approval. Now, it has been recently reported and confirmed by Dey Street Books that Brown is penning a memoir, reasonably titled My Prerogative, as reported by US Weekly. Slated as a tell-all of his controversial life – including details of Kristina’s death, “the book, out June 2016, promises to “tell the full story of his life and set the record straight, particularly about his relationship with Whitney Houston,” a release from the publishing house explains. You can’t please everybody. Once the trailer dropped, racist Twitter immediately went into defense mode. It’s been concluded that Star Wars director J.J. Abrams is suffering from self-hate because of the casting choices, and thus the #Boycottstarswars hashtag was born. This argument is of course so stupid that it doesn’t really even deserve the attention, but everyone gets fair billing here at Hip-Hop Wired — even the a**holes complaining about nonsense. What Iyanla Vanzant Learned From Her Suicide Attempt

Iyanla Vanzant is all about teaching people to “rebuild, restructure and redefine” their lives. The 62-year-old spiritual advisor learned this lesson over 40 years ago. She was 21 years old at the time and had just given birth to her third child. Still suffering from post-partum depression, the young mother decided to end her life. “I took a bunch of pills. I was in the kitchen, on the floor, and I could feel myself losing consciousness,” Vanzant says in a clip from OWN’s upcoming seven-night series, “Belief.”… “In that moment, I saw what I believe to be the Divine Mother. She said to me, ‘Do you really want to die?’ And I said, ‘No. I just don’t want to hurt anymore.’”… She was admitted into a psychiatric hospital where she was treated for depression. There, she learned to sort through her thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. [ MadameNoire ] “Be Wrong Stron”: Don Cheadle Kills It As Miles Davis In First Clip From Miles Ahead Last year, Don Cheadle launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to create a biopic covering Miles Davis’s storied life and career. Thankfully, the House of Lies star was successful, and his team started filming last July with Cheadle in front, as well as behind the camera as the director. Fast forward more than a year later and the finished product, Miles Ahead, will make its debut this weekend at the New York Film Festival. And while there’s no official release date for Miles Ahead in theaters as of yet, the buzz surrounding the film is massive… A clip from Miles Ahead has been released in preparation for Sunday’s festival premiere. In it, Davis can be seen making magic in the studio, telling the musicians if they’re going to mess up, “be wrong strong” before taking over on the trumpet. Riots gripped the entire nation in the wake of four police officers getting off scot-free for the brutal–and videotaped–beating of Rodney King… Broad Green Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, famously owned by Hollywood giants Ron Howard and Brian Glazer, are joining forces to present the L.A. Riots in dramatized format to audiences and they have called for 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner John Ridley to man the director’s chair. Ridley, who currently oversees his successful ABC creation, American Crime, last directed in 2013 for Andre 3000 in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is by My Side and the still untitled film’s financiers couldn’t be any more thrilled to have him onboard. Dr. Olivia Hooker, 100-Year-Old Survivor Of The “Black Wall Street” Massacre, Recounts Her Experience

Today, when Black people talk about economic disenfranchisement, the sentiment is often met with the argument that Blacks should pull themselves up by their bootstraps or stop “being lazy.” In reality though, there were many Blacks, after the abolition of slavery who did just that. And instead of being commended for their efforts, their homes and businesses were bought out or, in most cases, burned down. It happened to a Black enclave called Seneca Village in what is now Central Park. It certainly happened throughout the south. And perhaps, most famously, in Tulsa, Oklahoma in what was known as Black Wall Street, the wealthiest Black community in the United States at the time… Dr. Olivia Hooker was one of the survivors of this racially motivated attack, which she refuses to call a riot. Hooker, who is now 100, was just six-years-old when her community was burned down, destroyed forever. Earlier this year, during her 100th birthday celebration, Hooker spoke with the Wall Street Journal and recalled the day… [ MadameNoire ] Streaming Service Takes Effortless Dating To New Levels With “Netflix And Chill” Button Cuffing season is upon us, which means that “Netflix and Chill” dates will be in full effect in just a few short weeks. Which is why he’s representing himself at the now sensationalized “Big Pimpin” lawsuit that has been eight years in the making. However, the trial’s drawn out chain of events or the successful millionaire rapper born Shawn Carter playing esquire isn’t the case’s biggest story at the moment. Why Your Facebook Friend List May Be The Reason You’re Denied A Bank Loan In The Future

According to The Atlantic, the new technology will provide banks with a platform to review your Facebook friends, and if too many of them have poor credit, the bank can reject your application… The patent reads: When an individual applies for a loan, the lender examines the credit ratings of members of the individual’s social network who are connected to the individual through authorized nodes. If the average credit rating of these members is at least a minimum credit score, the lender continues to process the loan application. Otherwise, the loan application is rejected… Aaron Rieke, the director of tech policy at Upturn, says that it’s unlikely Facebook will make this feature available to financial institutions anytime in the near future… “It would really surprise me if they decided to get into the credit-scoring business, just because I think that’s going to make people feel panicked and uncomfortable.” [ MadameNoire ] “Native American” Dartmouth College Director Removed From Position Following Suspicion About Ancestry It looks like Rachel Dolezal has a spirit animal, and her name is Susan Taffe Reed. According to the Wall Street Journal, Reed, who says that she is of both European and Native American descent, was recently fired from her position as Dartmouth College’s Native American Program Director after multiple Native American tribes and Dartmouth alumni raised questions about her ancestry and tribal affiliation. Valley News reports that Reed’s new position with the college was announced on September 11. The announcement referred to Reed as “an ethnomusicologist and the president of the Eastern Delaware Nations.” Currently, the federal government recognizes three Delaware tribes as descendants of Native Americans cast out of their ancestral homelands centuries ago—the Eastern Delaware Nations is not one of them. And apparently, many of Dartmouth’s Native American alumni feel that the Eastern Delaware Nations is an organization filled with “pretendians.”… [ MadameNoire ] Lupe Fiasco Responds To The Game’s “Dollar & A Dream” Jab Most Internet savvy rap heads are well aware a streamrip of The Game’s anticipated seventh studio album, The Documentary 2 leaked a week ahead of schedule.
