Music producer DVLP (real name Bigram Zayas) filed a federal lawsuit against Cash Money Records accusing them of screwing him out of thousands! The producer says Birdman agreed to pay a tota l of $200k to settle all the issues. The producer claims on numerous occasions Birdman would text saying a wire was going to be sent for the 200k but no wire transfer was ever sent. BOSSIP Exclusive: PJ Morton Talks New “Live Show Killer” Live Album & Solo Tour

PJ Morton Talks “Live Show Killer” R&B/Soul singer and Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton just released a new live album/concert film, Live Show Killer , which hit stores and iTunes on July 17. Recorded in front of an intimate audience at the historic Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles in May 2015 (the same studio where “Where Are The World” was recorded), Live Show Killer includes favorites from his Grammy-nominated 2013 album New Orleans , as well as a few surprise covers, PJ’s personal faves, and even special guest appearances from Tweet and Mali Music. He’s also taking this show across country, hitting 15 cities with special guest Dee-1 . We caught up with PJ in NYC and chatted about the new album, got his take on Drake Vs. Meek, and talked his other hustle with Maroon 5. What made you record a live album as opposed to a traditional studio recording this time around? I kept trying to work on a studio album, but every time I’d get to it I thought ‘we really need to show people who we are live.’ I’ve found that people really become fans of mine when they come to the show and see what we do. The albums are — well, I like to think that they’re good — but there’s an energy that happens live with me and my band that maybe doesn’t always translate on the records. Especially having been in Maroon 5 for five years now, and having gone through my Young Money situation, a new fan base came from all of those things, and they don’t know that identity from me. So I thought it was important that before we move on to another studio record, to show all the new fans that this is what we do for real. For your newer fans, how does your independent sound differ from what you do with Maroon 5? It’s much more soulful. I feel like Maroon 5 is soulful pop music too, but I feel like I err on the soul side a little more than the pop side. I think Adam [Levine] is a soulful dude, he has a very soulful voice which is why I think we work well, but Maroon 5 is definitely more on the pop side. If you aren’t familiar, take a listen to PJ Morton and the Crusade’s live sound from a track of his recently new album: Nice, right? Hit the flip for more…

Random Ridiculousness: Woman Takes Limo To Go Shoplifting

Shoplifting in style… Woman Takes Limo To Go Shoplifting A Minnesota woman is making national headlines after authorities says she took a limo to go on a shoplifting spree, then it called it back to take her pilfered goods home. A woman is accused of taking a limousine to a Rochester business, shoplifting from the store, then calling the limo for a ride back home. The limo driver was instrumental in helping police find the woman, who allegedly fought with store security before running away with about $300 in headbands and miscellaneous clothing items, said Lt. Jim Evenson. The case began about 7:15 p.m. Monday, when officers were called to Scheels All Sports sporting goods store, 1220 12th St. SW, for a report of a shoplifter. As police searched the area for the 22-year-old, the limo driver stopped and asked who they were looking for. When he heard the description, he told officers it might be the woman who’d just called him for a ride back to downtown Rochester. Law enforcement followed him to the pick-up spot and arrested the woman, Evenson said. The driver told police the suspect had called earlier to be picked up at the Kahler Grand Hotel and asked to be taken to Apache Mall. After the shoplifting incident, she apparently called for a ride back to the hotel, where she claimed to be staying. According to the report, the woman is from Moorhead; she told police she was in town as a personal care assistant for someone seeking medical treatment in Rochester. The Post-Bulletin typically doesn’t identify suspects until they’ve been charged. Ma’am…what were you thinking???? What do YOU think about this bold lady shoplifting in limo??? Wikimedia Commons

BOSSIP Exclusive: Mehgan James Talks Fights, FUPAs, Making New Friends On Basketball Wives LA Season 4

Mehgan James Talks BBWLA Season 4 Basketball Wives LA is back in full swing, and the ladies are already smoothing over old issues and getting into new drama. With a new season comes some new cast members, one of whom we’ve already heard a little bit from on other reality shows and social media scandals . Mehgan James is already kicking up a bit of dust and becoming notorious for fiercely defending herself only four episodes in. Mehgan sat down exclusively with BOSSIP to recap some of the action from this season thus far, explain her feud with Draya Michele , and give a bit more insight to who she is behind the reality TV cameras. People know you far better from Bad Girls Club season 9 and are just getting to know you in the world of Basketball Wives. What are the major differences between the two experiences for you? Well the women, of course, are a little bit more mature. As far as the whole experience, filming BBWLA is more like a job, whereas Bad Girls’ Club was like jail. We had lights out, a curfew, we had to wake-up at a certain time, ask to do this, ask to do that. But, when filming Basketball Wives, you wake up, get your hair and makeup done, you film and then you go home. It’s more like real life than Bad Girls Club. Well, you definitely made a splash coming in. Your first major controversy with the group was the whole “is she or isn’t she friends with Jackie Christie?” question. Why did it seem like you were hiding from the other girls that you knew Jackie? My words were never “I do not know Jackie.” They asked me did I know anyone in LA, and generally, I didn’t. When you travel different places, of course you know OF people. You know people like how I know my hair and makeup artists — and of course, I did Bad Girls Club, and all of my producers live in LA — but I’m not about to go down the list of people that I know [in town] to some women that I barely know. Speaking of your conflicts, so many fans are saying that you pretty much jumped out of the gate coming for Draya. Did you have it out for her the moment you set foot in LA or were you open to befriending her before things went left? Well if you watch the first episode, shortly after Draya’s fashion show I walked over and congratulated her. I had a sit down meeting with her asking her about her line and how long she’s been designing. There’s a lot of stuff that people didn’t see due to editing, but I was very nice to her in the beginning, and it seems like she’s the one that had a chip on her shoulder from the time I got there. Why do you think she has a problem with you? I really don’t know. I would just think it’s because I’m new to the group, I’m the youngest in the group, and I feel like some people just don’t cope well with competition. Before I got there, Draya was the youngest in her group of “friends,” and I guess she was the most relevant — I came into Basketball Wives already with a fan base. So I think she might have been a little intimidated by that factor. What does Mehgan have to say about Draya coming after “her FUPA? ” Hit the flip to find out… Instagram

BOSSIP Exclusive: New TV Show Tackles Wrongful Convictions

“The Security Brief With Paul Viollis” Will Examine Cases Where Innocent People Received Prison Time A new, national TV show will dig into cases where people were wrongly convicted of major crimes. Every week, “The Security Brief With Paul Viollis,” will devote one show to “Wrongful Convictions: The Deskovic Files,” where Jeff Deskovic, who himself was convicted for rape and murder—crimes he didn’t commit—will serve as the show’s on-air expert. He’ll take apart wrongful convictions, find out what part of the justice system broke down, consider the reforms needed as well as tell the audience how they can protect themselves. “They consider me to be an asset there, and I’m really proud to be part of the show,” Deskovic told BOSSIP. “I feel like I’m in a unique position, because who gets to co-produce and do on-air work with my background?” There have been more than 10,000 cases of wrongful convictions in the U.S. since 1989, according to The Innocence Project, a legal nonprofit working to free those convicted under dubious circumstances. One recent wrongful conviction the Reelz’s daytime talk show tackled was the case of Rodney Roberts. The innocent man was railroaded into pleading guilty to sex assault and kidnapping, and was supposed to do two years. But after he served seven years, he was committed to a mental hospital, where he languished for another decade after doctors said he wasn’t making any progress because he still professed his innocence. “You have 10,000 people wrongly convicted in America—that’s huge,” show host Paul Viollis told BOSSIP. “How many people, especially people who can’t afford counsel, are getting locked up every year?” Viollis said that the show’s focus on wrongful convictions goes to the core of the show’s mantra: protecting families. “It’s a daytime talk show, but it addresses real crime issues and it closes with how to keep your family safe,” Viollis said. “It’s focus is part and parcel to where the show will continue to go: to right wrongs, to keep people safe and a clearinghouse for information.”

BOSSIP Exclusive – 2Chainz “THOT”: Rapper’s Taunts Made Me Want To End It All

Christine Chisholm Says She Slit Her Wrists After “THOT” Video Came Out The woman suing 2Chainz for branding her a “THOT” in an online video said the footage left her suicidal. Christine Chisholm said she tried to end her life several times by slitting her wrists and upper thighs after her mother told her that being in the “THOT” video had shamed the family. Chisholm said she also took it hard that bullies targeted her sister, Elizabeth, a student at the University of North Carolina, taunting her with “Is this your thot?”, “Thot-Tina,” and “Are you a thot?” Chisholm, 26 said she didn’t go to the hospital after the suicide attempts, but eased her despondency by attending church and confiding in her nearest and dearest. Chisholm made the sad claims in new court docs July 20 in the U.S. District Court in Charlotte, N.C., where she asked a judge for a speedy trial or settlement. Besides the suicide attempt, the woman said a stripper jumped her because of the video, and she now has to travel everywhere with security. “In this particular case, the plaintiff Christine Chisholm was called a thot before being scratched in the face numerous times,” the filing reads. “The plaintiff did not seek medical treatment at the time, since the scratches were not life threatening. The plaintiff did hire personal security to accompany her on numerous occasions.” Chisholm sued 2Chainz earlier this month, alleging that a video he shot of her backstage at a concert with the hash tag #IzThatYoThot, humiliated her and ruined her life. She claims 2Chainz’s video—which has been viewed millions of times –means she can’t date, lost her job as a receptionist in a barber shop and is constantly ridiculed in public. Chisholm originally asked for $5 million in damages, but has since upped the stakes by asking for $10 million. Chisholm maintains that she was invited backstage by 2Chainz friend Cap 1, and goes as far as to draw a diagram of the club for a blow-by-blow account of her version of events. She said she has pics of her and 2Chainz as well as 2Chainz’s DJ that show they all knew each other, and the rapper “had malicious intent to defame the plaintiff and gain publicity.”
