Jay-Z, Kanye West Announce Watch The Throne Release Date, Tour

Hip-hop duo is calling itself the Throne. By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: WireImage Throne watchers now have another date to focus on, this time an official one. It has finally been confirmed that on August 8, Jay-Z and Kanye West will release their highly anticipated joint LP, Watch the Throne, digitally on iTunes. Compact disc lovers will be able to purchase physical copies a few days later on August 12. But when searching for the CD at local retail spots, fans shouldn’t look under “J” for Jay or “W” for West, but rather “T,” as the duo has officially christened their group the Throne. Multiplatinum hip-hop supergroups cannot live by album sales alone, so on August 8 tickets for the Watch the Throne tour will also go on sale to the general public. The 24-date Live Nation-produced run will begin in Detroit on September 22 and wrap up on November 3 in Boston. Performing songs from the Throne album, as well as solo cuts from their respective catalogs, the duo will stop for two dates in Kanye’s hometown of Chicago, but none in Jay’s native New York. Instead the tour will hit the nearby East Rutherford, New Jersey, Izod Center on September 27 and 28. Starting July 28, fans who visit the Live Nation website will have access to pre-sale tickets; the next day, July 29, Citi Card members will get their chance to snatch up early seats. A press release sent out by Hov’s camp also confirms an official 12-song track list, with four bonus tracks slated for the LP’s deluxe version. RZA, the Neptunes and Kanye himself all contribute to the production side of things, while Beyonc

Johnny Depp Nears Deal for Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Money speaks louder than critics. While most vehemently disliked Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides , the film did gross over $1 billion at the global box office. Naturally, this has sparked talk of yet another installment, with sources telling The Wrap Johnny Depp is close to signing on. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is reportedly revising a script as we type. Back in January, Depp said he’d be up for a fifth turn as Captain Jack Sparrow “as long as we can put all the puzzle pieces together.” If those pieces are a contract and a script, they are most definitely coming together. So, we hope, is another Michael Bolton tribute to the sea-faring hero. Would you go see Pirates of the Caribbean 5?

Whitey Bulger Pleads Not Guilty to 19 Murders

We don’t foresee any miraculous verdict freeing this guy a la Casey Anthony . Two weeks after the shocking arrest of Whitey Bulger ended the infamous Boston crime boss’ decade and a half on the lam, he pleaded not guilty today in federal court to a laundry list of crimes, including 19 murders. The 81-year-old, who served as an FBI informant before vanishing in 1995, when he was tipped off that he was about to be indicted, has been ordered held without bail. Bulger agreed to waive the reading of charges against him. He is accused of 32 criminal counts in total, all felonies. The notorious fugitive pleaded not guilty in a soft voice. The Boston Globe reports that prosecutors expect a monthlong trial with as many as 40 witnesses. He was #1 on the FBI’s Most Wanted List at the time of his arrest, having taken over that spot only recently from Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Critics Slam Performance of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley received rave reviews for her red carpet appearances over the last week because, well, just look at the photos below. But the same can’t be said of the model/actress’ performance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon . A sampling of the bashing follows… Come back Megan Fox , all is forgiven. – The Daily Mail In the interchangeable role of sex doll, Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley assumes the spot vacated by Megan Fox. – Entertainment Weekly [Huntington-Whiteley is] a replacement for Megan Fox, who is Judi Dench by comparison. – The Boston Globe As for the film itself? Critics didn’t hate it .

The Boston Red Sox just made an It Gets Better video. Awesome. No really, that’s awesome. Our community and queer youth need all the support they can get. There’s even a player in this video who says he got therapy to come to terms with who he is. But he doesn’t say that he’s gay. ‘Footloose’ Star Kenny Wormald Reveals Secrets Behind Exclusive Trailer

‘I was blown away,’ actor tells MTV News of seeing footage for the first time. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Amy Wilkinson Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald in “Footloose” Photo: Paramount Pictures “Footloose” star Kenny Wormald sidled up to his computer, hit play on the trailer for his remake of the classic 1984 flick and quickly realized he’d made a big blunder. “I watched it alone in my house, and that was a mistake, because I thought I was going to scream!” the dancer-turned-actor told MTV News. “I was blown away.” By now, though the 26-year-old has had time to settle down, he’s no less pumped about the film, which hits theaters on October 14 and which he calls “all new, but it also pays homage to the original.” To celebrate our debut of the trailer, Wormald gave us a call and revealed some secrets behind the new footage. Backflips and Angry Dances The most iconic scene in the original flick features a young Kevin Bacon going wild in a warehouse, dancing and flipping like he’s trying to win an Olympic gold medal in gymnastics. The new movie, as the trailer hints, re-creates that scene. Wormald himself busted out the great majority of those moves but had to make way for the experts from time to time. “We called it the angry dance,” he explained. “There’s some crazy stuff going on in that scene — some gymnastic stuff that is a little bit from the original and they wouldn’t let me do some of it. It’s just when it comes to the death-defying stunts — flips and stuff — that’s not me. They were like, ‘I don’t think so. Sit down, Kenny!’ ” Wormald again had to step away from the cameras when it came to a perilous backflip seen early in the trailer. “All of the dancing is me,” he said. “But that flip isn’t me — but don’t tell anyone!” The Exploding Bus Late in the trailer, we get a glimpse of Wormald racing a bus, followed quickly by a gnarly explosion. Turns out, that scene is an action-movie tweak to the original’s tractor chicken race. “They made it really climactic,” Wormald said of the original scene. “But if you think about it, tractors only go five miles per hour. So I think [director] Craig Brewer wanted a more badass version of the chicken race.” The Boston Accent Bacon’s character hails from Chicago — a northern boy who moves into a southern town and brings an urge to boogie with him. But from the minute Wormald opens his mouth in the new trailer, we can tell he’s not from Chicago. Instead, he speaks with a thick accent, one not originally part of the script but which the Boston-born actor introduced to the project. “They went into casting thinking it would be the same [as the original]. But when I went in there, I wanted to be different than the other guys. I knew it was a kid from up north going down south, so I made a decision to use my Boston accent in the audition,” Wormald told us. “As I kept getting closer and closer to booking it, they never said don’t use the accent. And then I booked it and they said, ‘We’re going to change it from Chicago to Boston.’ They dug it.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
