Shannon Magrane is a tall, All-American girl. That was how she was portrayed on last night’s American Idol audition show, as Ryan Seacrest once again interviewed her World Series-hurling father and once again brought up a certain awkward incident from a few weeks ago. But can she sing? We think so. While the judges questioned Magrane’s song choice a bit, Randy Jackson delivered very high praise in saying Shannon possesses a “Lauryn Hill vibrato.” That reference may be lost on younger viewers, but trust us. Justin Bieber Makes Big Birthday Announcement

Justin Bieber will appear on an episode of Ellen today for two reasons: To celebrate his 18th birthday! To announce the name and release date of his next single! Indeed, the teenage icon is 18 years old as of this morning, so you can feel less illegal/guilty for picturing him naked, ladies. In honor of the occasion, he made a big announcement during his Ellen interview: “On March 26, my first single is coming out and it’s called ‘Boyfriend,’” Justin says in the following video, going on to describe the theme of the track he co-wrote with Mike Posner. “Basically I’m talking to this girl, ‘if I was your boyfriend I would never let you go.'” Justin Bieber Annouces New Single During the taping, Justin‘s manager, Scooter Braun, surprised his client with a new car: the environmentally-friendly Fiskar Karma. Bieber and Ellen also discussed the former’s trip to a special elementary school earlier this year and how the singer gets involved in so many charitable endeavors. What a great guy. Here I was thinking that there was no other motives like taking her out of a one room apartment she shared with her family….to mansions and private jets….other than love…. Adele keeps it all the way real she gave the finger at last night’s BRIT Awards when she was cut off while making her acceptance speech. Adele had just won the award for British Album of the Year for 21 and was making a genuine, from the heart speech. She was saying, “Thank you very, very much. Nothing is better than coming home with six Grammies and winning Album of the Year. Nothing makes me prouder than to be British.” So that’s when host James Corden cut her off. Not only did the crowd boo, but he got the finger from Adele. At a post-awards press conference, Adele commented on her reaction, saying, “I was cut off during my speech but I wanted to thank the British public for all their support. I was held up with my voice and troubles but the album kept walking without me. I flipped the bird for the suits at the BRITS who cut me off. Sorry if I offended anyone but it was for them, not for the fans.” Adele also won for British Female Solo Artist. Giving the bird wasn’t the only reason people were talking about Adele’s fingers … she was also sporting a huge rock on her left hand, fueling talk of an engagement to her boyfriend Simon Konecki. There’s been no confirmation of that.

Tony Bennett Pushes for Legalization of Drugs

In the wake of Whitney Houston’s death, most celebrities are reacting with nothing but condolences and kind words about the iconic singer. Some, however, are speaking out in more detail, with Celine Dion telling Good Morning America today that the celebrity culture itself bears some responsibility for Whitney’s demise. Tony Bennett, meanwhile, has taken a different, surprising tact. At Clive Davis’ annual Grammy Awards party, held just hours after Houston passed away, the legendary artist went off on a different topic. “First it was Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse, now, the magnificent Whitney Houston,” he said. “I’d like every person in this room to campaign to legalize drugs. Let’s legalize drugs like they did in Amsterdam. No one’s hiding or sneaking around corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it.” Not sure if that would have saved any of the aforementioned lives, but it’s always an interesting debate. Where do you stand? Should America legalize drugs?
