We wonder if Chrissy’s wife knows that she is in a same-sex marriage? Miami Heat star Chris Bosh and his fiancée, Adrienne Williams, will take a romantic honeymoon in Europe, hitting St. Tropez and various glam locations in Italy after their wedding later this week. The couple, who will wed in Miami, will jet-set on a lavish Mediterranean tour. Sources tell us their close friend, designer Domenico Vacca, has agreed to show them the sights on part of the trip. One source tells us the honeymoon includes “chic parties in St. Tropez, romantic dinners in Capri, sunbathing in Positano, sightseeing in Rome and Naples and yachting in Sardinia and Capri.” The big wedding bash is expected to be attended by a host of stars including Bosh’s Miami teammates and team staff, who have all been given permission to attend. But a rep for Bosh said, “Nothing has been decided as yet.” “Given permission”?? Damn, that doesn’t seem like team camaraderie to us, what ever happened to inviting your boys? Sounds like they asked if it was ok to attend and Chrissy said “I’ll think about it”…SMH Source
‘ From the Westside, With Love II just came out last week, so it was shocking to me to see people that knew those songs,’ MC marvels after packed show. By Steven Roberts Dom Kennedy Photo: MTV News New Yorkers are a notoriously tough crowd — ask the Knicks or Yankees. Or try suggesting your favorite pizza spot, because you’re already wrong. The city is also full of staunch music critics, from The New York Times to the Apollo Theatre’s Sandman. Hip-hop acts have a notoriously tough time getting the crowd to put their hands in the air. West Coast MC Dom Kennedy didn’t seem to have much trouble Tuesday evening, however. Kennedy headlined a packed house — more like sauna — at SOB’s in Lower Manhattan. And to many people’s surprise, Leimert Park’s very own had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Even Kennedy looked pleasantly surprised at the start of his set as the audience repeated every word to songs old and new. He said the show was a bit of a celebration for the hard work he’s put in over the past few years. “I realize that these are people that were probably listening to my music every day or every other day since these projects have come out,” Kennedy told MTV News. ” From the Westside, With Love II just came out last week, so it was shocking to me to see people that knew those songs. But the other ones, it was our time to get together and have a good time.” Kennedy said he knew he had a following in New York based on the reception he received at the listening party for his Original Dom Kennedy mixtape earlier this year, but the moment he got to the show and saw he couldn’t make his way from the green room to see any of the opening acts, he knew it would be a special night. Kennedy’s From the Westside, With Love II dropped via iTunes last week, making it his first retail release. It’s the follow-up to his From the Westside, With Love, a project Kennedy felt was really good — most critics felt the same, but he thought it wasn’t complete. He wanted Part II to show his growth. He also wanted it to show that Tuesday evening’s overwhelming reception wasn’t a fluke. “I built my projects to be the best,” Kennedy said. “Whether it’s a free project, whether my first project just came out on iTunes for $6.99, I built those projects to compete with Lil Wayne CDs, with everybody’s album. Whoever people consider the top album, whether it be selling or music-wise, I want the Dom Kennedy album to stand next to those.” What do you think of Dom’s latest mixtape? Aniston welcomed her co-stars ‘with an open lab coat,’ Jason Sudeikis tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis in “Horrible Bosses” Photo: Warner Bros If you haven’t heard anything about the upcoming comedy “Horrible Bosses,” there are really only two things to know about the film in order to understand its appeal: It’s rated R and stars Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston, plus several other excellent supporting roles and cameos to look out for. The movie revolves around three friends (Sudeikis, Bateman and Day) who are so fed up with their bosses (Farrell, Spacey and Aniston) that they decide to kill them. As you can see from the cast list, the guy/girl ratio is a bit skewed, so when MTV News caught up with the leading men, we asked how Aniston fit into the mix of things. Naturally, the boys took a seemingly innocent inquiry into highly inappropriate territory. “You don’t welcome her; she welcomes you,” said Day, whose character Dale is the victim of some serious sexual harassment at the hands of Aniston’s character Julia. “She’s the heavy in the room.” “Jason and I, unfortunately, we did not get to swap talent spit, as it were,” Bateman pointed out, before the three funnymen digressed into an off-topic back-and-forth about what “swapping talent spit” means and where the phrase originated. “Errol Flynn used to say that,” Sudeikis said of the legendary actor known for his onscreen swashbuckling and offscreen debauchery. “It started in the Poconos, actually,” Bateman jokingly corrected. “Flynn used to spit all over people,” Day added. “It wasn’t swapping so much as receiving.” “Charlie did all the talent with Jennifer,” Bateman said, attempting to get the group back on topic. Day revealed that Aniston did, indeed, welcome him into their scene work. “With an open lab coat,” Sudeikis added, alluding to one of the many scenes in which Day’s character finds himself in an uncomfortable scenario with Aniston’s. “And an open labia,” Bateman chimed in, which drew groans from his co-stars. “I’m not touchin’ that,” Day said. “It’s spelled the same!” Bateman said in mock protest. “This is MTV!” Sudeikis exclaimed, hinting that Bateman’s comment was over the line, even for us. “The network that brought us ‘Skins’!” Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: ‘Horrible Bosses’ ‘Horrible Bosses’ Clips
If ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ tops Hot 100, Perry’s Teenage Dream will tie MJ’s mark of five #1s from a single album. By James Montgomery Katy Perry Photo: John Parra/ WireImage Katy Perry’s unstoppable Teenage Dream album continues to churn out hits … and now, it might just make history too. If Dream ‘s fifth single, the just-released “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” , continues its climb to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 (it currently sits at #4, jumping 27 spots from last week), Perry will not only become the first female artist to ever have five #1 songs off one album, she’ll be the first artist of any gender to accomplish the feat since Michael Jackson had five chart-topping singles off his Bad album in 1987 and 1988. Perry’s previous #1s from the Dream album are, of course, “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework” and “E.T.” Jackson’s five #1s from the Bad album are “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man in the Mirror” and “Dirty Diana.” Perry has already shattered the Hot 100 record for most consecutive weeks with a single inside the Top 10 (48, a number previously held by Swedish popmeisters Ace of Base), then kept that momentum going by spending an entire year in the chart’s upper echelon. More incredibly, that streak is still active, as two of Perry’s singles — “T.G.I.F.” and “E.T.” — sit at numbers 4 and 5, respectively. What’s more, “T.G.I.F” currently sits atop the Billboard Digital Songs chart, and may soon be her sixth single to pass the 4 million mark in digital sales, joining “E.T.,” “California Gurls,” “Firework,” and from her One of the Boys album, “Hot N Cold” and “I Kissed a Girl.” No other artist has even had four songs pass the 4 million download mark … Perry’s closest competitors in that regard are Lady Gaga and Rihanna, both of whom have had three 4 million-sellers. Yesterday, as I was walking back from the train station after a long day at work, I ran into someone I knew on the way home. After we exchanged greetings and we proceeded to chat, it quickly became hard to hold a conversation as we both seemed lost in our own worlds. We had both not been expecting this chance meeting and were tired from work, but I later realized that there was more to that encounter than just lethargy from the end of the day. I had spent most of the train ride on my phone surfing the internet and reading a book, which are both very solitary activities. The bulk of my job requires me to be on my laptop, so obviously I have become very accustomed over the years to communicating online. I even find myself making lunch plans through e-mail, even though the person I’m messaging is in the same side of the building. Ordinary face-to-face contact has become an alternate reality to sites such as Facebook and Twitter, where you can post your day-to-day thoughts and send messages instantly from person to person. You don’t even have to open your mouth or leave your chair anymore to be able to ask people questions or find out about their daily life. The addition of the internet onto cell phones has also become a gateway to instant gratification and can sometimes even spawn new friendships if you are too shy to speak to someone on a more personal level. However, if you really think about it, what is technology doing to the fundamental social skills that people have to learn and cultivate? If you can’t talk to someone in person and you resort to e-mailing or Facebook-ing them, is that really the start to a healthy relationship? While there are definitely some advantages to the technology that have made communication easier in the long run, there are still some drawbacks in the way people relate to each other with this changing technology. Is Social Networking Bad For Your Child? Thinking back to even ten years ago, cell phones were less advanced and social networks were not the ultimate gathering place. E-mail was still important and frequently used, but you couldn’t access it as easily as you can with today’s rash of Smart-phones. The latter has actually become something of interest to me as of late, as I just recently invested in an iPhone. Being able to access your Facebook account or e-mail on the run can be a blessing and a curse, as having so much connectivity can be helpful, as well as distracting. While it might be great to be able to look up street directions or a song that you heard on the radio, sometimes the urge to check one’s phone for new messages can end up replacing human-to-human interaction. Despite the new distractions, I was recently discussing the merits of cell phones and computers with a friend at lunch today and we were both in awe of how we survived without them for so long. Mailing letters and stopping by at people’s houses unannounced seems foreign to us in this day and age, since the fast-paced world has made people accessible at an instant. Ways of communicating are constantly changing, yet this new evolution has left the younger generation less likely to engage in true face-to-face conversation. According to the New York Times , college students have even started using text messages as a way of resolving roommate conflicts, despite the fact that they could be discussing it right in their own room! Have text messages become the new voice, making us strangers of interpersonal connection? It’s important to take yourself away from your technology once in a while, putting away your phone and simply sitting down for coffee with a friend without distractions. Basic communication skills like eye contact and a listening ear are vital in forming bonds with other people and something we should continue to cultivate, despite the changing times with new media replacing what was once commonplace interaction. When you “unplug” yourself from the web of technology, even if for a short amount of time, there is much to be learned from simply talking to others and keeping the human aspect of communication alive. Never forget the foundation of human interaction, which involves the bare bones of creating a relationship with the other person. It is very hard to find connections through simple text, as the words have to have some emotion that only the human voice, facial expressions, and general presence can provide. By breaking the barriers that technology has built around us, using our face-to-face times as serious communication can help bring us out of our awkward funk and back into a world where machines don’t dominate our social lives! ‘We didn’t miss a step at all,’ Royce says on ‘RapFix Live’ of reuniting with Em. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Royce Da 5’9″ Photo: MTV News With Detroit rappers Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ back on friendly terms, fans are being rewarded with their forthcoming EP Hell: The Sequel, due in stores June 14. Recording under the moniker Bad Meets Evil, the celebrated lyricists told MTV News’ “RapFix Live” that the fluid back-and-forth on the project’s lead single, “Fast Lane,” was due to their latent chemistry. “Me and Royce, ever since back in the day when we did records together, we always had kind of a chemistry,” Eminem told MTV News. “It was fairly easy to play off what each other was doing, and I think we can [think] a lot alike.” As the “Evil” in the Bad Meets Evil equation, Em added that the project was the result of mending the rift he had with Royce, which dates back to when the latter stopped working with Dr. Dre and was feuding with D12. “This record, the way it came together, it wasn’t anything that we planned to do,” Em said. “We didn’t get together and say, ‘Hey, man, let’s make a Bad Meets Evil record.’ It was more so along the lines of us making amends and repairing our issues that we had, and then one day, Bad [Royce] brought a song to me and wanted me to jump on it, and the way it ended up coming out, it was pretty easy to do. It didn’t take a lot of time. It was fun to do it. The way we knocked that record out kind of quickly … it just morphed into this.” Added Nickel Nine: “It didn’t feel like work. We just had fun doing it.” Some of the previous fruits of Royce and Em’s good times in the studio, such as “Bad Meets Evil” from Em’s The Slim Shady LP, occurred more than a decade ago. But fans need not worry about whether the Motor City tag team will be on the same page musically for the rest of Hell: The Sequel, which features production from DJ Khalil, Bangladesh and Denaun Porter. “It was pretty nostalgic, actually,” Royce said of the recording process. “It took me back to when we used to do stuff back in the day. We clicked like that. I wasn’t really surprised. We didn’t miss a step at all.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Eminem And Royce Da 5’9″ Related Artists Eminem Royce Da 5’9″
‘Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside,’ an intimate hour-long chat with the pop megastar, airs Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: MTV News Lady Gaga is giving fans a peek at the girl behind the pop star in an exclusive special titled ” Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside .” In the hour-long interview, set to air Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, the singer reveals how she went from Stefani Germanotta to Gaga, pop’s pre-eminent global superstar, and allows her audience to share her vulnerabilities. During the intimate chat, Mother Monster opens up about her rise to fame — from her school days of being bullied by classmates to the moment she decided to pursue her dreams of pop stardom. She speaks in-depth about the moments that shaped her as an artist, including the release of her highly anticipated album, Born This Way, on May 23. “Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside” also focuses on Gaga at home, spotlighting her close relationship with her family and growing up in Manhattan before she made the life-changing decision to move out on her own to New York City’s Lower East Side. Gaga recalls being bullied by students at school and what impact it had on her. “I remember once, some of the girls from my class, they were hanging out with some boys that I knew also,” the “Judas” singer says. “And then I went to meet some friends for some pizza that were at the same pizzeria, and the boys picked me up and threw me in the trashcan on the street on the corner of my block, while all the other girls from the school were leaving and could see me in the trash and everybody was laughing — and I was even laughing. “I always have that nervous giggle and I just remember, like, holding back the tears and the lip quivering,” she continues. “And I remember even one of the girls looking at me like, ‘Are you about to cry? You’re pathetic.’ I remember I didn’t tell anybody, that’s what I remember. I remember I didn’t tell anybody. I remember I didn’t want to tell my parents because it was too embarrassing. And I remember I didn’t want to really bring it up with my girlfriends even though they were there.” Her parents, as Gaga explains in the special, have always been supportive of her dreams, even if it meant challenging her. “My dad was really into rock and roll. Bruce Springsteen had such an influence on our home. My dad saw me singing along to his records and he would pick me up and throw me around the room and laugh and cry with me while I would sing Pink Floyd and Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel records with him. My father gave me — I believe it was for Christmas — it was a Bruce Springsteen songbook for the piano and on it was ‘Thunder Road,’ which is my favorite Bruce Springsteen song. And my dad said, ‘If you learn how to play this song, we will take out a loan for a grand piano, a baby grand.’ I didn’t know the difference. There was the big one and a small one.” A young Gaga was more than up for the challenge. “So I remember it was the hardest thing for me. I was playing these huge pieces, like 15 pages long. … I opened up the book and there was, like, chords, guitar chords. I was so confused, I didn’t understand it, so I just started to read it,” she recalls. “Eventually, I got it down.” Catch an exclusive teaser trailer for ” Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside ” on Thursday at 10:58 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, after a new episode of “Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew.” Related Videos Preview ‘Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside’ Related Artists Lady Gaga
‘This record is all heart,’ Fernando Garibay tells MTV News about the sax-driven record. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images Lady Gaga ‘s “Edge of Glory” is an undeniably pure pop track. The Born This Way single dropped earlier this week, and the song’s co-producer, Fernando Garibay, says he’s still “very surprised,” “floored,” even, by the song’s release. “You know what’s crazy, as we were making the record … ‘Born This Way’ is a statement song, but here with ‘Edge of Glory, it’s very personal to her,” he explained. “It is very personal and very real; it’s a real moment. This record is all heart.” Garibay worked on “Edge of Glory” with Gaga and DJ White Shadow , who also revealed some details about the song to MTV News before its release, calling Gaga’s vocal delivery on the track particularly moving. “This song’s had room for her too … this is her natural tone. The vocal was one take,” White Shadow said. “The whole thing from top to bottom was her, just backstage singing it all the way through.” At the pop star’s request, Garibay threw in a heartbeat and made sure during production that it was clear Gaga’s “finding acceptance in the bridge.” He added, “It’s a bold move on her part to put this out there the way it is, where the full version is intact [on the radio]. When was the last time you heard a musical solo sax break in the middle of a song on the radio? It was innovative as a song and it was totally guided by the emotions and the heart. That’s what we did here. She wanted to put sax on it … Her references were E Street Band and Bruce Springsteen, so the isolation of what the sax represents in the music dichotomy, what it represents in the whole spectrum of music,” he said of the saxophone section, which is actually played by E Street’s Clarence Clemmons. “And that’s how we captured that feeling. It’s like that moment of acceptance and letting go. … She said, ‘Dude, there’s no boundary, go all the way.’ Her soft side is just as intense and as emotional as her intense, hands-in-the-air side you see onstage,” he added. Garibay couldn’t even imagine what a video for the song might look like. “We’re all excited,” he said. It’s always a surprise, but whatever it is, it’s going to be epic. … In this case, it’s edgy because it’s not edgy.” What’s your favorite Born This Way single so far? Tell us in the comments!
