Derick Dillard is celebrating what he believes to be a victory for religious freedom. And what others believe to be another example of persecution against the LGBT community. On Monday the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who had refused to create a wedding cake for a gay couple. By a 7-2 margin, the Justices sided with Jack Phillips, who argued that his religious objection to same-sex marriage provided him with the First Amendment right to turn down the request of these patrons. However, rather than determine whether religious artisans and businesses have a right to discriminate based on their beliefs, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote a majority opinion that focused SOLELY on the case at hand. He specifically stated that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission had not treated the baker fairly because various commissioners had made disparaging remarks about his religious beliefs. In other words: Phillips was actually discriminated against by a board that proved to be hostile toward religion. This may not be the case if another baker refuses another gay couple and the debate once again finds its way to the Supreme Court. But this was a nuanced point very much lost on Dillard. “Today’s 7-2 Supreme Court decision is a huge victory for religious freedom,” he Tweeted last night, adding: “Government cannot and should not discriminate against religious faith; it is a constitutional right.” Again: this is not what the Supreme Court just decided. But whatever. The more relevant celebrity gossip fact here is how this message is yet another instance of Dillard slamming the gay and trans community. In May, Dillard said trandgender individuals are mentally ill . Last August, Dillard said the entire concept of transgender is a myth , Tweeting in regard to the reality show I Am Jazz , which chronicles the life of a transgender teenager: “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.” Dillard eventually got fired by TLC for these kinds of controversial comments. He also got destroyed by a distant cousin named John Andrew Studdard. “Derick needs to keep his mouth shut,” this astute person recently said , adding: “We don’t have to agree with someone’s life, but don’t speak out publically when you know you’re already disliked by half of America. As a public figure, he should stop being so harsh.” As a human being, he should stop being so hars. But this is still a pretty solid statement. For what it’s worth, Justice Kennedy explained that this Colorado baker case was not mean to set national policy or a national agenda when it comes to the topic of religious freedom or gay rights. “The outcome of cases like this in other circumstances must await further elaboration in the courts,” he wrote, elaborating as follows: “All in the context of recognizing that these disputes must be resolved with tolerance, without undue disrespect to sincere religious beliefs, and without subjecting gay persons to indignities when they seek goods and services in an open market.” Hear that, Derick?!? Since well before the insane Jersey Shore: Family Vacation trailer aired, fans have been eager to see their favorite disasters back on screen. And one season clearly wasn’t enough. MTV knows that. So Jersey Shore is coming back for another season — and we already know where. RadarOnline was able to uncover where Jersey Shore is filming its new season. “Nicole and Jenni are flying out to Las Vegas on a private jet tomorrow.” And this isn’t a vacation — no matter what the show is named or where it takes place, showing up on camera is a lot of work. “To start filming season two of Jersey Shore. ” Fans already knew that MTV wasn’t going to drop the series, but it’s a relief to hear that there are concrete plans in place. This on-set production source continues, announcing that the cast will include more than just Snooki and JWoww. “They are both definitely returning …” Well, we figured as much. “… Along with all of the boys!” Oh! RadarOnline reports that Mike Sorrentino and “the guys” are, according to that production source, already there to film. So, here is what we know so far about this new season: It will take place in Las Vegas, which is a recipe for a very entertaining disaster if we’ve ever heard one. Remember, normal people go to Vegas and get a little out of control. Also, the cast will be staying in a rented mansion rather than a hotel. Mansions are great settings for all sorts of things, from fictional murder mysteries to very real and dramatic realtiy shows. Their new adventures begin in the desert. However, apparently filming on this season is scheduled to wrap up on the actual Jersey shore. The source says: “They are all super excited for Season 2 and feel like this is going to be the best season yet.” That is certainly good news. Though fans have wanted Jersey Shore back on their screens for years, only in 2018 did they get their wish. It seems that they have the success of Floribama Shore to thank. That show’s ratings made it clear to the higher-ups that there is still a huge market for people who want to watch reality stars make disastrous decisions (without residing in the White House). Sammi Giancola couldn’t come back this past season because of Ronnie. So far, we have not seen any indications that this is going to change. Ronnie seems too unstable, and Sammi staying away seems like a smart move. Even so, with so many returning cast members, this really does feel like it’s the revival series that fans have yearned for and that MTV promised. It is worth noting that the original teaser trailer did not reveal where the cast would be. They may end up filming at different locations — a new one each season — all over the country. Perhaps even all over the world. For now, though, fans can look forward to watching their tanned, trashy faves tear up the town. But hey, this is Las Vegas that we’re talking about. A handful of new details have emerged in regard to the shocking and tragic death of Kate Spade . As previously reported, the fashion icon seemingly committed suicide inside her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday morning, with Spade’s housekeeper finding her boss’s body around 10:20 a.m. Spade was 55 years old. The veteran handbag maker reportedly used a scarf tied to a bedroom door knob to take her own life. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after this horrible news went public, Kate Spade New York released the following statement via its official Twitter account: Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed. Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time. We honor all the beauty she brought into this world. We can also now confirm that Spade’s husband was at the apartment when his wife’s body was discovered. Spade was one of the world’s most famous fashion designers. She was specifically known and respected for creating a line of handbags and jewelry in the 1990s… which blossomed into a fashion enterprise with over 140 retail stores across the United States. Kate got her start in the 1980s, working for women’s magazine “Mademoiselle” in Manhattan. Together with husband Andy (the brother of actor David Space), Spade launched Kate Spade Handbags in 1993; it eventually turned into a full-scale clothing and jewelry line. Spade sold her company in 2007 and took some time off to raise her daughter. However, Kate then got back in the fashion game in 2016 by launching a new brand called Frances Valentine … named after her daughter, who’s now 13 years old. This is especially relevant and sad at the moment because The New York Post reports that Kate did, in fact, leave a suicide note. It mainly addressed her daughter, telling Frances that her suicide was NOT the teenager’s fault. A police source, meanwhile, told this same newspaper that the suicide was due to “relationship problems.” We don’t feel comfortable speculating beyond that. In response to this news, a number of celebrities have expressed their sadness and surprise on Twitter. Take fellow designer Liz Lange, for instance: The nicest woman, the first person to compliment me on Liz Lange Maternity when I first started. And the creator of the most iconic brand. I am heart broken by this news. And Chelsea Clinton: My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it. Holding Kate’s family, friends and loved ones in my heart. And Tess Holliday: Kate Spade & her brand have always been so kind to me the past couple years & I’m crushed to hear about her passing. Suicide isn’t ‘the easy way out’ and shouldn’t be mocked.
