‘Hunger Games’ Star Jennifer Lawrence: What’s Next?

A horror movie, two Bradley Cooper films and a return to Katniss Everdeen are all in the works. By Kara Warner Jennifer Lawrence at the “Hunger Games” premiere Photo: Getty Images For those of you who rushed out to the theater to see Jennifer Lawrence and company in this weekend’s box-office blockbuster “The Hunger Games,” how good was Lawrence as Katniss? If you were as delighted and moved by Lawrence’s performance as we were, you’re probably wondering what the Oscar nominee will be up to next. Lucky for you, we have a few answers! Here’s a little rundown of what to expect from Lawrence and where to see more of this talented, charming and all-around likable leading lady. (Side note: Before she jumps right into another project, we hope Lawrence takes a vacation of some sort and gets a little rest and relaxation after her extensive, worldwide promotional tour for “Games.” We loved seeing the cast at so many events and so dressed up, but she has to be exhausted!) Anyway, we have to wait until fall until we get another Lawrence film. The first is the horror/thriller “House at the End of the Street,” co-starring Elisabeth Shue. In the film, Lawrence and Shue play a mother/daughter duo who get wrapped up in the mystery of a murder in a small town. Shortly after the September 21 release of “House at the End of the Street,” fans will see a very brief appearance by Lawrence in “Devil You Know,” playing the younger version of Rosamund Pike’s character Zoe. In November, we’ll see Lawrence in “The Silver Linings Playbook,” the first of two films co-starring Bradley Cooper . “Silver Linings” revolves around a man who tries to put his life back together after spending years in a mental institution. “I just wrapped a movie called ‘The Silver Linings Playbook,’ ” Lawrence told MTV News recently. “And then I’m going to go shoot another Bradley Cooper movie. It’s not a Bradley Cooper movie — Bradley Cooper’s in the movie — it’s a Jennifer Lawrence movie with Bradley in it,” she joked. “Bradley Cooper and I are going to come out with a Jennifer Lawrence/ Bradley Cooper box set.” Their second film together is “Serena,” about a Depression-era couple who face personal complications when they learn that Lawrence’s character cannot bear children, which has a negative impact on the future of their lumber company. Fun fact about “Serena”: Lawrence’s role was originally intended for Angelina Jolie. “I’m not at the status where I have her roles. I have her leftovers, let’s be clear,” she joked of taking over for Jolie. “She left it for me. I have her garbage. No, that’s a wonderful place to be. I’m an actor digging through Angelina Jolie’s garbage. I’ve made it.” Shooting on “Serena” has yet to start. After her work on “Serena,” we’re all hoping Lawrence will be back playing Katniss for “Catching Fire” or getting painted to play Mystique in the yet-to-be-announced sequel to “X-Men: First Class.” Because “Fire” has a November 22, 2013, release date already locked in place, we’re betting Lawrence will be back wielding a bow and arrow before she’s spending countless hours in the makeup chair to “get painted again” for “X-Men.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Hangover Part III’ Due Next Summer

Second sequel to smash comedy will be finale of the trilogy. By Gil Kaufman Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zack Galifianakis in “The Hangover Part II” Photo: Warner Bros. Nothing beats a classic movie trilogy. And while nobody is rushing to compare “The Hangover” to “Star Wars,” director/producer Todd Phillips is aiming to end the hugely successful morning after comedy franchise with a third and final chapter next summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Phillips confirmed on Thursday that “The Hangover Part III” will indeed wrap up the series when it’s released next summer. “We’re going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned,” Phillips said. “It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions.” The movie is slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2013, hoping to capture some of the same box office magic that the second installment grabbed when it launched on that same weekend in 2011 on its way to a massive $581.5 worldwide gross. Additional good news came with the confirmation that after extensive negotiations, stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zack Galafianakis are all on board for the third go-round. To date, the first two movies have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, a rarity for an R-rated comedy franchise. It was such an unexpected smash, in fact, that the Reporter noted that Warner Bros. studio didn’t even sign the stars to option deals for sequels because no one expected the original 2009 film to gross more than $467 million. That resulted in the “Wolfpack” trio getting “hefty” raises for the second film and a reported $15 million each for the third movie. Phillips will again work on the script with “Part II” co-writer Craig Mazin, but he would not tip his hand as to where the third movie will take place. The magazine reported that a recent draft of the script indicated that it was set in Los Angeles and that it deviated from the “what happened to us last night?” formula of the first two films. Star Cooper recently lent credence to the script speculation
when he revealed in a December interview, “We adhered to the formula in the second one, for those of you who’ve seen it, and the third one, which would close the whole sort of trilogy, which now it would be a trilogy — even though we thought we would never make a second one, let alone anybody see the first one — I think it will take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure. It might be different.”

Jennifer Lawrence Preparing Her ‘Bradley Cooper Box Set’

‘I’m an actor digging through Angelina Jolie’s garbage,’ ‘Hunger Games’ star jokes to MTV News about replacing the actress in Cooper’s next flick. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jennifer Lawrence Photo: MTV News “The Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence has admitted she’s not sure when she’ll be on set for the next film in the franchise, “Catching Fire,” but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have plenty of projects to keep her busy until then. “I just wrapped a movie called ‘The Silver Linings Playbook,’ and that’ll be out at some point, I don’t know when,” Lawrence told MTV News recently. “And then I’m going to go shoot another Bradley Cooper movie. It’s not a Bradley Cooper movie — Bradley Cooper’s in the movie — it’s a Jennifer Lawrence movie with Bradley in it,” she joked. “Bradley Cooper and I are going to come out with a Jennifer Lawrence/ Bradley Cooper box set.” That box set, should it ever get made, would focus on two very different films starring Lawrence and Cooper: “Silver Linings,” due in November, revolves around a man who tries to put his life back together after spending years in a mental institution, while “Serena” is about a Depression-era couple who face personal complications when they learn the wife cannot bear children, possibly destroying the future of their lumber company. Lawrence will play Cooper’s wife in “Serena,” a part originally intended for Angelina Jolie. “I’m not at the status where I have her roles. I have her leftovers, let’s be clear,” she joked of Jolie. “She left it for me. I have her garbage. No, that’s a wonderful place to be. I’m an actor digging through Angelina Jolie’s garbage. I’ve made it.” Shooting on “Serena” has yet to start. Although Lawrence has several films on her production docket, she wouldn’t rule out getting back into the “X-Men” mindset as Mystique if given the chance. “I would love to do another one. I’m hearing the same as everyone else, there’s mumblings,” she said of her “First Class” role. “I can’t wait to get painted again.” If fans can’t wait that long to see Lawrence’s on the big screen, they can head to theaters on March 23 when the highly anticipated “Hunger Games” hits theaters. Olivia Wilde Speaks on Sexual Maturity, Love

Olivia Wilde was originally slated to star as Linda Lovelace in a biopic of this 1970s porn star. So why did she pull out? “I decided that it should go to someone who is not already sexualized by the public,” the actress says in the latest issue of GQ UK , adding that Lovelace “was an innocent” and saying “Amanda [Seyfried] will do an amazing job” with the role. Wilde says she was “very sexually mature at a very young age,” which caused some problems growing up: “I was very comfortable with it and talking about it, and once someone hears a young woman speak candidly about sexuality, it’s like, ‘Whoa!’ You get labelled.” Currently dating Jason Sudeikis, the 27-year-old bombshell has linked to Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling, among other Hollywood hunks, since her divorce last year from Tao Ruspoli. She sincerely hopes someone else out there is right for her. “You fall in love again,” the actress says. “Oh God, to think that you only fall in love once in your entire life is such a depressing thought.”

SUNDANCE: Deals Struck for Docs and Star-Driven Pics Black Rock, The Words

A quick update on the flurry of Sundance deal-making of recent days, with well-received documentaries and less acclaimed but star-driven (read: marketable) narratives sitting pretty with distribution agreements. Will this be, as pundits predicted, a high-volume buying year in Park City? This list will be updated as more films reach distribution deals this week at Sundance, where smaller hits (i.e. Beasts of the Southern Wild ) and high profile pieces (Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer , which screens tonight) have piqued buyer interest. The documentary field is especially strong so far, with Searching for Sugar Man , The Queen of Versailles , Kirby Dick’s The Invisible War , and West of Memphis having already screened to warm responses, while a host of narratives featuring name actors have also shown promise. Searching for Sugar Man (Sony Classics) – The documentary about 1960s musician Rodriguez played well to critics and was snatched up by SPC for a reported six figures . The Queen of Versailles (Magnolia Pictures) – Another well-received doc, Lauren Greenfield’s examination of Florida real estate mogul David Siegel was picked up by Magnolia on Friday. Black Rock (LD Distribution) – Katie Aselton’s thriller about three female friends (Aselton, Lake Bell, Kate Bosworth) surviving a weekend getaway gone wrong was the first Midnight selection to seal a deal, partnering with newbie venture LD Distribution. The Words (CBS Films) – Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, and Jeremy Irons lead a cast of recognizable stars in this literary drama about a writer (Cooper) who claims credit on someone else’s manuscript and is confronted by its real author, so it’s easy to see why buyers were interested. CBS Films reportedly made the most expensive buy of the fest so far, laying down $2 million for the film. Whether or not that move was smart remains to be seen, as this first review over at The Playlist is less than encouraging. Are Zoe Saldana & Bradley Cooper Spending The Holidays Together?

Read the original:

It was recently reported that newly single it girl Zoe Saldana was caught getting cozy with “Peoples’ Sexiest Man Alive” Bradley Cooper in Paris. Well it looks like there was more to this rumor because the couple are reportedly spending the holidays together. Saldana’s rep denied the two were romantically linked after they were spotted clubbing together last month, but now sources told E! that the actors had plans to go skiing in the Rockies together over the holidays and are “totally dating,” and they’re ready to tell family and friends about their relationship. People’s Sexiest Man Alive has been linked to Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez in the past few months. “If you’re a single man and you happen to be in this business, you’re deemed a player,” he told People magazine in his Sexiest Man Alive interview earlier this year. “But I don’t see myself as a ladies’ man.” The sizzling pair are starring together in the upcoming film “The Words.” Has Zoe given up on the brothers? This is the second white man she’s been linked to. She recently split from her fiance Keith Britton, who she dated for 11 years. Spotted at thefablife.com Zoe Saldana & Fiance Split After 11 Years! Bradley Cooper Ready To Start Filming ‘The Hangover Part III’

Actor says Todd Phillips is working on the script now. By Gil Kaufman Bradley Cooper Photo: 2011 WireImage First the good news: Bradley Cooper says that “The Hangover Part III” is in the works. The bad news: it won’t start shooting until next September. During an appearance on England’s “Graham Norton Show” to promote the DVD release of the $327 domestically million-grossing sequel, Cooper teased that a third edition of the series is in the works. “I personally want to do it. I hope we’re going to start shooting in September,” Cooper said. “I know [director] Todd Phillips is working on the script.” Norton joked that the $581 million worldwide take of the sequel — which Cooper noted is the highest-grossing comedy of all time — suggests that someone might want to greenlight the next chapter. “$581 million, I imagine someone will make that, even if it’s half as successful, it’s worth doing,” Norton laughed. Fishing around for what the subject matter might be, say, perhaps a hangover, Cooper rubbed his chin and speculated that new things might be afoot for “Part III.” “We adhered to the formula in the second one, for those of you who’ve seen it, and the third one, which would close the whole sort of trilogy, which now it would be a trilogy — even though we thought we would never make a second one, let alone anybody see the first one — I think it will take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure. It might be different,” he said. Phillips told reporters back in May that he was definitely down for another go ’round. “Quite honestly we really haven’t talked about it as we just finished the movie two weeks ago, this is the first time we’ve all been together in awhile,” Phillips said at a press conference. “If we were to do a third one, if the audience… if the desire was there… I think we have a clear idea where that would head and it’s certainly not in the same template you’ve seen these movies … ” Obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy as you can imagine. The third would very much a finale and an ending. The most I could say about it and I haven’t discussed it with these actors is that it is not following that template but very much a new idea.”
