Victoria Silvstedt Flashes Her Good Side

After yesterday’s hot little Victoria Silvstedt bikini pictures , I’ve had fake blond hair and big old boobies on the brain so I thought I’d post more of the bombshell and I can’t think of anything better than some shots of her getting into an SUV in a tight dress. That ass looks great. I wonder if she knows I’m giving away free mustache rides until the end of the month. Call me.

Injured Madina Lake Bassist Is In ‘Tenuous Situation,’ Brother Says

‘Honestly it’s like walking on glass,’ Nathan Leone says of brother Matthew, who was seriously injured in assault. By James Montgomery Matthew Leone Photo: Steve Thorne/ Getty Images More than a week after he was badly beaten and left unconscious on the streets of Chicago, Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone has been discharged from the hospital and is resting at his brother — and Madina Lake frontman — Nathan’s apartment. But obviously, he’s still far from a complete recovery from the attack — which happened after he attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute and left him with a broken nose and jaw, a fractured skull, and hemorrhaging so severe on his brain that doctors were forced to remove a third of his skull. And now, with a second surgery scheduled for July 16, the responsibility of keeping him stable now largely rests on Nathan Leone’s shoulders. And, as Nathan told MTV News on Wednesday (July 7), things are still very much touch-and-go. “Honestly it’s like walking on glass, because I have to make sure absolutely nothing happens to him, have to keep him safe and protected and healing, and then, there’s the brain surgery, with all the risks of that,” Nathan said. “It’s a very tenuous situation. He can’t roll over, can’t really rest the side of his head on anything, and he can’t get up and walk around, even though he very much wants to. He spends most of the day right in the middle of my bed, so he can’t roll off at night. I’ve been sleeping on the couch.” Leone said that Matthew is awake, aware and speaking — “It’s not anything profound,” he chuckled — and that right now, the main focus is just making sure he remains comfortable and safe until his surgery, at which point, doctors will attempt to re-attach the portion of his skull they removed. “He’s slowly but surely getting his strength back, but it’s still hard, because not only is his surgery upcoming, but any time you have a neurological trauma, the long-term effects are unknown, and can be for up to a year,” Nathan said. “So, right now, it’s a situation where we have all this time until the surgery, and you’re holding your breath that everything is stable until then. Then you need that surgery to go perfectly, and from there it’s another four to six weeks of recovery. So hopefully everything goes as well as can possible.” In the mean time, there’s still the matter of the pending case against Matthew’s alleged attacker, 33-year-old Justin Pivec , which Nathan can’t talk about for legal reasons (“You have no idea how badly I want to say something,” he sighed), and the ongoing efforts by Madina Lake’s management to raise funds to help with Matthew’s mounting medical costs — efforts which have left Nathan amazed and his brother more than a little embarrassed. “In some ways he’s a shy person, and the attention that’s come from this is something he’s not ecstatic about, but at the same time, it’s just overwhelmingly positive, and of course it makes him feel much better,” Nathan said. “Everyone’s been so amazingly supportive, really, I can’t express what it means to all of us.” And though all of this has obviously taken up the majority of his focus, Nathan said that he and his Madina Lake bandmates met on Tuesday night to discuss just how Matthew’s injuries will affect the future of their band. And, from the sound of things, they’re planning to push on with Matthew at their side, as much as possible. “We have the Sonisphere Festival coming up in UK, and we scheduled a few headlining dates around that, and we decided last night that we’re going to commit to playing them, and we’re not going to hire a bass player to fill in,” Nathan said. “Instead, if it’s possible, we’re going to try to have Matthew record his bass tracks here, and then run them when we play live. We’re not going to hire a new bass player [for the shows] … we don’t want anyone to take his place. So, if he can pick up a bass, he’s going to play his parts.” Share your get-well wishes for Matthew Leone in the comments below. Related Artists Madina Lake

Injured Madina Lake Bassist’s Prognosis Is Good, Brother Says

Nathan Leone says his brother, Matthew, is conscious after being savagely beaten while intervening in a domestic dispute. By James Montgomery Madina Lake’s Matthew and Nathan Leone Photo: Michael Burnell/ Redferns Earlier this week, Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone was savagely beaten and left unconscious after he attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute in his hometown of Chicago. He suffered a broken jaw, nose and a fractured skull, and doctors were forced to remove a third of his skill to alleviate pressure on his brain, which was swelling. For the past three days, Leone has been in and out of consciousness, and his twin brother — Madina Lake frontman Nathan Leone — has been at his side for every second. On Thursday (July 1), Nathan took a minute out of his vigil to speak with MTV News about the incident, and to give Madina Lake fans an update on Matthew’s condition. “I’ve been there for about 72 hours, next to him, constantly, and I basically just took an hour to go home and take a shower. I’m going back [to the hospital] now,” Nathan said. “[Matthew] had all kinds of injuries, and his brain was swelling, so doctors had to remove part of his skull and put it on ice while we wait for the swelling to stop and the hematoma to stop leaking. “It was touch and go for a while there, but at this point, things are starting to turn around, which is wonderful,” the singer said. “The first couple of days, he couldn’t recognize me or say anything coherent, but this morning he did. And he now he’s aware and talking and moving around a little, which is wonderful. So the prognosis is getting better by the hour.” Leone added that Chicago police have already made an arrest in connection with his brother’s assault. (The Chicago Police Department had not responded to MTV News’ request for information by press time.) Though what happened to his brother was terrible, Leone said that the reactions to the incident from Madina Lake’s fans and fellow musicians have also reaffirmed his believe in humanity. “The outpouring of support has been amazing,” Leone said. “Every band we’ve ever toured with, every Facebook and MySpace outlet has been going crazy with love and support. We’ve heard from friends, fans, neighbors, labels and management. It’s honestly overwhelming. When something horrible happens, you’re inclined to despise humanity, but this proves how many amazing people there are in the world.” While his brother drifted in and out of consciousness, Nathan read him some of the e-mails and comments Madina Lake fans had written him, and he believes their kind words are what helped him pull through. “I truly believe that,” he said. “They helped save his live.” And though Matthew Leone has now regained consciousness, he still faces an uphill battle. Nathan says he’s optimistic that his brother can leave the hospital “within the next three to five days” after the swelling has subsided. When he returns home, he’ll have to wear protective headwear until doctors can re-attach the portions of his skull. Even after all of that, there’s still one more hurdle he’ll have to face. “We don’t have health insurance. It’s a horrible coincidence, because as we’ve been on tour, it’s been hard to manage bills,” Nathan said. “And then you get home, and you start writing again, and the bills just become too hard to catch up with. So, no, we don’t have insurance. But we’ll deal with that when we have to.” Share your well-wishes for Matthew Leone in the comments below.

7 of the Most Boring Reality Show Winners of All Time

Is there anyone out there excited by the American Idol final two? A season finale matchup between Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox may not set the world on fire, but it wouldn’t be the first time that a once-exciting reality competition produced an underwhelming winner. (It may not even be the first time Idol’s done it — it’s just that the show’s most bland victories usually come at the expense of a quirky runner-up). In honor of the sure-to-be-snoozy final outcome to this disappointing season, here are 7 other winners who triumphed on their own reality shows, but could have used an extra jolt of personality.

About That Time Bret Michaels Suffered a Brain Hemorrhage While Watching Busty Cops 3

Yesterday, Bret Michaels appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show via satellite to discuss the brain hemorrhage that sent him into critical condition last month. Wearing a freshly pressed navy blue bandanna, the rock star and Celebrity Apprentice contestant solemnly described his injury for the first time: “It sounded like a small handgun went off in the back of my head.” As informative as the segment was, Michaels left out one detail that definitely would have interested Oprah: which porno movie he happened to be watching when he suffered the life-threatening hemorrhage.

Line Between Crazy/Genius Closer Than We Thought

New research shows a possible explanation for the link between mental health and creativity. By studying receptors in the brain, researchers at Karolinska Institutet have managed to show that the dopamine system in healthy, highly creative people is similar in some respects to that seen in people with schizophrenia. High creative skills have been shown to be somewhat more common in people who have mental illness in the family. Creativity is also linked to a slightly higher risk of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Certain psychological traits, such as the ability to make unusual pr bizarre associations are also shared by schizophrenics and healthy, highly creative people. And now the correlation between creativity and mental health has scientific backing. “We have studied the brain and the dopamine D2 receptors, and have shown that the dopamine system of healthy, highly creative people is similar to that found in people with schizophrenia,” says associate professor Fredrik Ull

People’s Brains?

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test … do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise? If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it. LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses logic detail oriented facts rule words and language present and past math and science can comprehend knowing acknowledges order/pattern perception knows object name reality based forms strategies practical safe RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses feeling “big picture” oriented imagination rules symbols and images present and future philosophy & religion can “get it” (i.e. meaning) believes appreciates spatial perception knows object function fantasy based presents possibilities impetuous risk taking This is actually kind of interesting. I tried for awhile and I was able to get the dancer to change directions. Initially she was turning clockwise for me. Give it a try. added by: JuliusBC

Courtney Love Recalls Hazy ‘Letterman Years’ On ‘Late Show’

Newly sober singer sat down with David Letterman for first time since 2004 flashing incident. By Gil Kaufman Courtney Love arrives at “The Late Show With David Letterman” on Tuesday Photo: Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage The last time Courtney Love visited “The Late Show With David Letterman,” she famously lifted up her shirt and flashed the normally unflappable host in one of her legendary shambolic public spectacles. Now 45 and sober, Love stopped by the show on Tuesday night for the first time since that 2004 incident and explained to Letterman that she is a changed woman. “They had to douse me out and clean off and pick all the little things out of my hair,” she said when Letterman sounded shocked at the long gap between their chats. “It started when I came on this one talk show and got on someone’s desk and took my shirt off and danced on it,” Love said, looking down in mock embarrassment. She also revealed that right after the flashing incident, the start of what she called her lost “Letterman years,” Love got arrested that night, and then things kind of went to hell for the next three years. “You’re not blaming this on me, are you?” Letterman asked, concerned. When asked what her “bottom” was, the moment when she realized she needed help and had fallen into the abyss, Love said succinctly, “Your desk.” Probed further about what had prompted her to disrobe during that visit, Love explained, “Drew Barrymore had done it when she was 19, and I was so out of my mind when I did it, I thought I was 19. But I was actually 39.” For his part, Letterman deadpanned, “I enjoyed it. … I don’t want to be what they call an enabler … but it seemed like you were at the top of your game to me.” Love noted that the video of that appearance is still one of the first things that pops up on a Google search of her name. The one-time grunge-pop icon claimed on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show on Monday that she had a torrid eight-month affair with former Bush singer Gavin Rossdale while the rocker was also romancing his now-wife, Gwen Stefani. She was also not shy when telling Letterman about her struggles with illegal drugs. “I did a lot of cocaine back then. I had bad people around me,” she said. “I abused it. There’s nothing else you can do with cocaine.” While in rehab, Love said she wrote apology letters to a number of people who’d been impacted by her drug-taking, among them Letterman; he confirmed that he’d gotten that letter. Saying she is now sober, Love, wearing a demure cream-colored sleeveless top, black skirt and black hose, also claimed to have been addicted to unnamed pills and “everything bad” before entering rehab and getting cleaned up. She is currently promoting the new Hole album, the just released Nobody’s Daughter. What do you think of Courtney Love’s latest revelations? Discuss in the comments. Related Artists Courtney Love

Bret Michaels Is ‘A Gentleman And Friend,’ Says Ratt Drummer

Bobby Blotzer wishes his friend ‘speedy full recovery,’ as Michaels remains in intensive care. By James Montgomery Bret Michaels Photo: George Napolitano/FilmMagic Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer has known Bret Michaels for nearly a quarter-century, and in that time, he’s had more than his fair share of good times with the Poison frontman. But when Michaels was rushed to the hospital last week after suffering a brain hemorrhage, the memories of those good times took a backseat to genuine concern for his friend’s health. Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos In a statement to MTV News, Blotzer said that he was shocked to learn of Michaels’ hospitalization, and hoped that his friend would recover quickly. “The news of what happened to my friend of 24 years, Bret, came as a shock and with much anxiety,” Blotzer said. “Bret is a gentleman and friend to not only his peers and close personal friends, but to all fans and people around the world. Speedy full recovery soon!” As of Wednesday (April 28), Michaels remained in the intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital, where he is in stable condition. His father told “Extra” that he had recently spoken to his son and that he sounded “a little slow, but fine.” According to a statement posted on his official Web site Michaels has been undergoing a battery of tests while in the ICU, and that, as a result of the stroke, he has been diagnosed with a condition that could lead to severe seizures. “Test results indicate a setback in Bret Michaels’ condition, a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia; a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures,” the statement reads. “Due to the severity of his condition, Bret Michaels continues to remain hospitalized in an intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital.” Michaels, 47, was taken to the hospital late Thursday night, after complaining of severe headaches. Doctors eventually discovered that he had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage , a survivable but serious stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain.
