Be safe this week at Comic-Con, folks — according to reports out of San Diego, a 53-year-old woman who had been camping out with fellow Twilight fans ahead of Breaking Dawn ‘s Thursday panel was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street near Hall H. “Police said she was in a crosswalk and tried to run across Harbor about 9:20 a.m. She tried to stop when she saw an oncoming Subaru but ended up tripping into the car,” reports the San Diego Union-Tribune . The Examiner ‘s Amanda Bell has more on the identity of the woman, known as Gisella G., whose death has shaken the Twilight community and those on the ground at Comic-Con. Police closed off portions of Harbor Blvd. this morning following the accident. The death lends a somber mood to the event, which runs Thursday through Sunday, as thousands pour into downtown San Diego. Police and security are typically omnipresent inside and around the convention center directing foot traffic around the busy surrounding street and train crossings; take this as a reminder to be patient and safe around town — and be extra nice to those Twi-hards. Jackson Rathbone and Sheila Hafsadi are first-time parents. The Twilight Saga star and his girlfriend welcomed a baby boy named Monroe Jackson Rathbone VI into the world yesterday, the actor’s rep tells Us Weekly . He weighed in at eight pounds, 11 ounces and was born at 9:43 a.m. Rathbone, who is also a musician and plays with a band called 100 Monkeys, met Hafsadi (a dancer) during a tour stop and the couple announced it was expecting in February. He’s portrayed Jasper Hale in every installment of this wildly anticipated franchise and will help close it out this November with a role in Breaking Dawn Part 2 .

By Kara Warner Kellan Lutz and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: There is never a dull moment in the world of “Twilight.” The fact that we dedicated fans still have a few months to wait before the release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” does not mean that our favorite subject and the actors associated with it are not making headlines elsewhere. This week’s “Twilight” Tuesday is dedicated to our favorite bits of “Twilight” news percolating around the Internets: “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” To Open Comic-Con As was expected, Summit announced that “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” will once again take San Diego Comic-Con by storm. The film will kick off the festivities in the convention center’s massive Hall H as the very first panel on Thursday, July 12. As many of us remember fondly, Hall H was the site of the franchise’s first-ever Comic-Con appearance back in 2008, when thousands of excited fans made the pilgrimage to San Diego to see the cast assembled together for the first time. No word yet on which castmembers will be making the trip to the Con, but because it’s in support of their last “Twilight” movie, we’re betting on seeing most, if not all, of our favorites. Kellan Lutz Gets Animated Kellan Lutz is lending his voice to Seth MacFarlane and the cast of “Family Guy.” According to Entertainment Weekly, Lutz will appear on an upcoming episode as a love interest for Meg Griffin (voiced by Mila Kunis) as a hunky high school football player Meg fantasizes about. The show’s executive producer Mark Hentemann told EW that although Meg convinces him to go on a date with her, Lutz’s character has ulterior motives — an interest in one of the other Griffins. Lutz reportedly made a great impression on everyone when he recorded his part. “[He] got into the role and walked that line perfectly,” Hentemann said. “He was great. New clip gives fans a precious — though tantalizingly brief — glimpse at the newest member of the Cullen family. Now that we’ve watched it a few dozen times, we can take a step back to analyze our favorite moments. First, how great is it to finally get a glimpse of all those other vampires we’ve been talking about? Finally a first look at Garrett the nomad, played by the divine Lee Pace, as well as Benjamin, Irina and a few others. But there’s one character we wish we saw a little bit more of: Renesmee. Not that we blame Summit and Co. for waiting to reveal more of little Mackenzie Foy-as-Renesmee closer to the film’s release, but it would have been nice to see her in action with her parents, interacting with the other Cullens or playing with Jacob. The moments that we do get to see are very sweet. Fans around the world have been expressing their delight over one scene in particular: when Bella is putting her daughter to bed and tells her “I’ll never let anybody hurt you.” “The way vampire Bella looks at Renesmee reminds me of Edwards quote from Twilight… ‘You are my life now’ :’),” one Mackenzie Foy fan tweeted . A fellow fan called the moment “10 seconds of perfection.” In addition to the high praise from fans, that tender moment between mother and daughter has already been given the GIF treatment on several Tumblr blogs. With all this love for the happy family and that precocious young lady Renesmee, we surely hope we’ll get to see more of her in the next trailer. Edward Cullen turns 111 years young today and in honor of the occasion, the folks behind The Twilight Saga have released a new full-length Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer . This one expands significantly on yesterday’s quick tease , giving us glimpses at Bella as a vampire and her pressing need to protect daughter Renesmee, who is targeted by the Volturi in the final installment of this epic franchise. There sure are a lot of red eyes throughout the preview, as noted by Jacob, as it all builds to one climactic battle between blood suckers around the world.
