Josh Hutcherson Wants ‘Some Sort Of Friendship’ With Kristen Stewart

‘Hunger Games’ star reconnects with his ‘Zathura’ co-star at the MTV Movie Awards for the first time in five years. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Josh Hutcherson backstage at the MTV Movie Awards Photo: MTV News “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” collided over the weekend at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when Josh Hutcherson ran into his “Zathura” co-star backstage. “I actually got to talk to Kristen Stewart tonight for the first time in five years, at least,” Hutcherson revealed to MTV News. “That was awesome to connect with her again, especially after everything that’s happened to the both of us [with ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Hunger Games’]. It’s nice to just kind of be able to talk again and hopefully have some sort of friendship. She’s fantastic.” “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” slayed the dystopian thriller out of the Best Kiss and Movie of the Year awards, but the actor promised there are no hard feelings between the two franchises. “Honestly, you know what? I’ve never really felt it to be a competition. And I wish I could pretend like it was ’cause it’d be fun, [but] it’s so not. Their cast is fantastic, our cast is fantastic and there’s never been any bloodshed. … Not yet,” he teased. Hutcherson certainly didn’t go home empty handed. Thanks to his adoring fans, he took home the Golden Popcorn for Best Fight along with the honor of Best Male Performance . “Just to be here is always fun, and then to be nominated on top of that is amazing, but to actually win something is surreal,” he said. “Best Male means so much to me. The people I was in that category with, like Ryan Gosling, I’ve said publicly how much I want to be him. The fact that I’m considered on the somewhat same level, it’s just mind-blowing.” The excitement for the actor didn’t stop there. He caught one of the most iconic performances of Movie Awards history when Johnny Depp took the stage with the Black Keys to perform “Gold on the Ceiling.” “I missed Fun., which I was disappointed in ’cause I wasn’t there — as one does when they miss something,” he laughed. “But Depp and Black Keys, one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite bands combined, I was just like, my mind was exploding. It was incredible. “I was like, ‘How are there not more people losing their minds?’ ” he added. “It was pretty insane. I didn’t know he played the guitar, let alone could be a rock guy rockin’ out and do all these things. It was pretty awesome.” And like everyone else with a semblance of interest in this summer’s box office, Hutcherson was thrilled to take in some never-before-seen footage of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” “I’m a huge Batman fan. Growing up I actually thought I was Batman,” he said. “I wore a Batman mask and cape around until I was like 14 years old. For me, that movie is going to be the most epic thing of the summer, for sure.” Once he helps Katniss save the citizens of Panem, maybe he can take over Christian Bale’s role and rid Gotham of its evil? ” No. No way,” he said with a laugh. “Bruce Wayne, I have to stay away from that. It’s too much.”

Russell Brand MC’d the show, which featured four “Golden Popcorn” wins for The Hunger Games , an on-stage performance by Johnny Depp and a roasting for Trailblazer award-winner Emma Stone. Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry introduced Dark Shadows star Johnny Depp who received the Generation Award during the show. He then went rock n’ roll, taking a guitar and playing with The Black Keys for a version of the band’s “Gold on the Ceiling.” Later, Christopher Nolan introduced a sneak peek of The Dark Knight Rises along with cast members Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman. But the night belonged to The Hunger Games , which won four prizes including Best Female and Best Male. ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ Will Have ‘Kick-Ass’ Battle Sequence

At Movie Awards, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone tease favorite moments from November release. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — As fans face the end of “The Twilight Saga” in November with the release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” they are beginning to wonder what the best scenes in the highly anticipated release might be. Well, when MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , they (sort of) revealed the one scene they are each looking forward to Twi-hards seeing later this year. “Yes! Oh, man! I can’t really talk about it, though. I’m not allowed to,” Rathbone said. “If you just noticed, I went to a happy place and I think everybody’s going to really love it. The littlest hints? It’s awesome.” While it’ll be a while before we see what that awesome yet vague scene is, Reed had some more specific details for her #1 pick. “Well, you never know what’s going to end up in there. Let’s see … There was a pretty kick-ass battle sequence that I did with two of the other girls that I think should be pretty cool, if they leave it in there,” she said. “So I’m looking forward to that ’cause we trained for it for a while.” She then gave just enough extra information to keep fans salivating until November when they take their last bite out of the franchise. “[We did] a little fight training. It was me and Ashley [Greene] and Kristen [Stewart], and we did this like three girls back-to-back thing where we beat up some huge dudes,” she recalled. “That’s always fun.” At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” won Movie of the Year and Best Kiss . Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards ! Does ‘Twilight’ Have A Lip-Lock On The Movie Awards?

We’ll see if RPattz and KStew nab their fourth prize over ‘The Vow,’ ‘Potter,’ ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ and ‘Hunger Games’ on Sunday. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment This year’s Best Kiss nominees are as diverse as they are titillating. Whether the smooch’s setting was rain-soaked, in a cave, seven years in the making or post-marriage, the nominees for this consistently popular 2012 MTV Movie Awards category all deserve credit for their wonderfully cinematic tongue tangos. Here’s a look at this year’s very competitive category: Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, “Crazy, Stupid, Love” Much ado has been made over the all-around swoonworthy-ness of Ryan Gosling and the all-around likeability of Emma Stone. Putting them together in a romantic comedy where their first kiss involves an assertive, rain-soaked Emma Stone getting exactly what she wants made for one of the year’s steamiest onscreen kisses. Not to mention Gosling’s adept assist in the scene: He is a Best Kiss winner after all ( for “The Notebook” ) and responsible for one of the best acceptance “speeches” in MTV Movie Awards history. Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” Oh, young love. So angsty and confusing and frustrating and, in the case of “Harry Potter” characters Hermione (Watson) and Ron (Grint), too many years in the making. Though the big moment in the movie was different from how things went down in J.K. Rowling’s beloved novels, you can still hear the collective sighs and squeals over their very long-awaited first lip-lock in the blockbuster franchise’s eighth and final film, “Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, “The Hunger Games” Known affectionately to “Hunger Games” fans as the “cave scene,” Katniss (Lawrence) and Peeta (Hutcherson) find themselves between a literal rock and a hard place when Katniss must venture out to fetch her teammate and would-be love the medicine that will save his life. Katniss’ winning argument for risking her life is sealed with a kiss. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” “Twilight” fans will never tire of seeing kisses shared between their favorite onscreen couple, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. And luckily for the fans, the three-time winners know how to get the job done, as demonstrated by their passionate, lengthy and very public display of affection after being announced as man and wife in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, “The Vow” What’s more romantic than a devoted and doting husband? One who is charged with the very difficult task of making his wife fall in love with him all over again after she sustains severe memory loss from a traumatic accident. Such is the sweet and sigh-worthy setup for Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams’ heart-melting second first kiss in the romantic drama “The Vow.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! ‘Breaking Dawn’ Characters Meet Their ‘Destinies’ In ‘Part 2’

In lead up to Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, ‘Twilight’ producer promises vampire series finale will give fans ‘closure.’ By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: Summit Judging by everything we know about the fifth and final installment in the “Twilight” series, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” is going to be a fitting, action-packed and altogether epic conclusion to the

‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’: Stephenie Meyer Speaks Out

‘Twilight’ author tells MTV News that E L James’ fan fiction bestseller is ‘really not my genre, not my thing.’ By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: The Writer’s Coffee Shop “Fifty Shades of Grey” seems to be on everyone’s mind lately. How will they make NC-17 reading material into an R-rated film? Who will take on the role of the timid Ana Steele? And, most importantly, who will be cast as Christian Grey , the sexy leading man? Those all are important questions, but the one query we were itching to have answered is: What does “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer think of the book? E L James’ trilogy started out as “Twilight” fan fiction, after all. When MTV News caught up with the writer on the set of “The Host,” she told us she doesn’t know much about “Fifty Shades,” but she supports James in her endeavor. “I haven’t read it. I mean, that’s really not my genre, not my thing,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve heard about it; I haven’t really gotten into it that much. Good on her — she’s doing well. That’s great!” “Fifty Shades” follows the sadomasochistic affair of college graduate Ana Steele and dominant billionaire Christian Grey. Their relationship begins as a purely physical attraction, but as they become engrossed in each other and start to fall in love, Ana realizes Christian’s past might not be something she wants to uncover. Christian represents Edward Cullen, a brooding, self-deprecating and impossibly good-looking man with a few secrets, while Ana is an adaptation of the clumsy and shy Bella Swan. Without Meyer’s novel, “Fifty Shades” might not exist. “It might not exist in the exact form that it’s in,” Meyer said. “Obviously, [James] had a story in her, and so it would’ve come out in some other way.” But James isn’t the only writer who gained Meyer’s support. “The Host” author mentioned being a “super fan” of Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games.” “I’m just excited for anything that they do,” she said. “I was really excited they were turning it into a movie. Of course, then you have that, ‘Are they gonna screw it up?’ ’cause it’s so awesome, but they didn’t; it’s awesome. I’m really looking forward to the next one. I have fingers crossed for a couple of casting choices.” Once she revealed she had actors in mind, we had to ask her pick for the beloved District 4 tribute, Finnick Odair: “Taylor Kitsch,” she said, stating her choice. “Is there another option?” When our correspondent Josh Horowitz mentioned he spoke to Kitsch, and the actor said he’s not interested in the role, Meyer was more than a little disappointed, saying, “You’re breaking my heart.”

MTV Movie Awards’ Best Kiss Must Be ‘Powerful,’ Robin Thicke Says

‘You have to build up the tension, because the kiss is the release,’ crooner tells MTV News. By Fallon Prinzivalli Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: Summit Entertainment The Best Kiss award at the MTV Movie Awards is arguably the fans’ favorite category to vote on. For the past three years in a row, the honor has been bestowed upon “Twilight” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for their smooches as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. This year, they’re up against some hefty competition: Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in “The Vow” and, their biggest opponents, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games.” While the winner is anybody’s guess, we’re wondering which couple deserves the award. There’s no one better to answer our question than Robin Thicke, who’s managed to croon his way into the hearts of many ladies. The musician tells MTV News that the Best Kiss award should go to the most “powerful” smooch. “You have to build up the tension, because the kiss is the release,” the “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” singer said. “The kiss is the moment when the strings come in, and all of the danger and the anger and the frustration and the loss — the kiss becomes redemption. It takes you out of purgatory and into the gates of heaven. A kiss has to be that powerful, in my opinion.” If fans honor Thicke’s definition when they vote, it sounds like Hutcheron and Lawrence could take home the coveted golden popcorn. Their characters, Katniss and Peeta, are in danger while they’re stuck in a cave, she could lose him if he dies from his injuries, and he’s frustrated and angry that she wants to head into the bloodbath of the Cornucopia to save him. With a single kiss, all that tension is released. Sounds like they’re a shoe-in, right? You decide! The power is in your hands.
