Now that we’ve seen the 10-second teaser, here’s our wish list for the trailer, in ‘Twilight’ Tuesday. By Kara Warner Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: Summit Entertainment All right, “Twilight” fans: Now that we’ve had our curiosity piqued and our hearts made all aflutter via the release of the brand-new “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” trailer sneak peek, it’s time to take a break from re-watching it 20 more times and think about what didn’t make the 10-second spot that we hope we see in the full-length trailer debuting in front of “The Hunger Games” later this week. This week’s “Twilight” Tuesday is dedicated to our “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” trailer wish list, featuring thoughtful commentary from one of our favorite experts, Kallie Mathews, webmistress of TwilightSeriesTheories.com . Arm Wrestling and Other Bella-as-a-Vampire Scenes So Bella is a vampire now. Hopefully that doesn’t surprise anyone at this point, since everyone who saw “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” got a little sneak peek of those freaky-colored eyes of hers. As such, we should see a whole new side of Bella in this movie, my favorite scene being the one between her and Emmett and their arm wrestling. “I am ‘hoping’ to see some vampire action in the full trailer,” Mathews said. “There are some great training scenes from the book I hope they include, as well as some great cottage scenes with Bella and Edward! I ‘expect’ to see lots of Bella as a vampire, and I’m OK with that!” A Lee Pace Sighting I’ve mentioned my enthusiasm for the new castmembers before, particularly my affection for Lee Pace , but it is worth repeating until more people appreciate him. Pace, whom you might recognize from his excellent work on the short-lived TV series “Pushing Daisies” or Tarsem’s “The Fall,” plays American nomadic vamp Garrett in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” and although he isn’t one of the major players in the film, his character still has a nice arc and I’m dying to see more of him. Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee Cullen Remember when Edward and Bella had a baby? Of course you do; how can anyone forget that graphic scene? Anyway, baby Renesmee grows up really fast in the second film, and she’s being played by beautiful young actress Mackenzie Foy , who has already told us a few adorable things about working with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner . I would very much like to see her in action in the trailer. A Shirtless Pattinson or Lautner I’m sure there is a highbrow, intellectual approach to take here, but instead, I’m going to channel my inner-teenage girl and hope that we get to see some shirtlessness from Pattinson and Lautner. Trailers are all about enticing audiences to come see the movie, so why not serve up some gratuitous shots of the film’s very handsome men for the very dedicated fans? “I have a feeling we will see tight close-ups of the Cullens, a shirtless werewolf and lots of trees,” Mathews predicted. “Plus, you know there will be some great one-liners!” Appropriately Angsty Background Music In addition to the fanfare that surrounds the film’s stars and the actual movie itself, there is plenty of enthusiasm for the various “Twilight” soundtracks that have been released over the years, so much so that certain bands have been rediscovered by making the cut. I’d like to hear either a familiar favorite, like Sleeping at Last’s “Turning Page,” or a brand-new and soon-to-be hit song over which we can swoon for a few months. A country girl at heart, Jennie Garth never quite understood the appeal of city life … and now she’s heading out of town with some reality TV cameras in tow. On April 20, Jennie Garth: Little Bit Country premieres on CMT. The show will follow the newly-single Garth as she and her daughters ditch L.A. for a simpler life. It’s a surprising move for the 38-year-old actress, who has laid low in recent years, but she’s clearly looking for a the fresh start – in a fresh location to boot. Daughters Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5, will be relocating with mom to Santa Ynez Valley, Calif., along with a farm-averse assistant and a house full of dogs. Garth, who just separated from Peter Facinelli after 10 years of marriage, is ready to tackle country life for the first time since leaving her home in rural Illinois. It wasn’t tough to spot Channing Tatum or Jonah Hill at the after party following the SXSW premiere of 21 Jump Street ; they were the ones, beaming unselfconsciously in the middle of the crowd, wearing bicycle-cop uniforms. More specifically, wearing their costumes from the movie, in which they play a pair of bumbling rookie policemen sent undercover to high school — a set-up that so delivers beyond its premise that the ’80s Johnny Depp TV series adaptation is actually one of the best new films of 2012, comedy or otherwise. Sony’s March 16 release had screened a handful of times for press leading into the SXSW premiere, establishing surprisingly strong word of mouth for months. Catching up with 21 Jump Street directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord after the film’s equally supportive public debut found the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs helmers in fantastic spirits, and with good reason: If audiences follow the lead of critics and SXSWers, then 21 Jump Street could become a deserving critical and commercial hit in the mold of last year’s Austin breakout Bridesmaids . Credit goes to an exceedingly sharp script and great chemistry between leads Hill and Tatum, whose onscreen two-man comedy team rapport carries what might, in a lesser film, have been reduced to a fairly banal by-the-numbers plot (the pair go undercover in search of the source of a powerful and dangerous drug making the rounds in the high school set). The reboot takes its job seriously than, say, the Starsky and Hutches that came before it; if you’re wondering how the hell anyone could justify resuscitating a decades-old idea from the depths of nostalgia, for example, the film beats you to it. If you’re skeptical of seeing Ice Cube as Tatum and Hill’s angry black police captain, Cube’s Captain Dickson clears the air in his very first scene. But 21 Jump Street isn’t just clever in its construction and aware of its own inherent vulnerabilities to criticism — it’s pretty hilarious to boot. Two of the best jokes in my estimation come not from Tatum, who is genuinely funny and, more importantly, comfortable flexing his comic muscles here, or Hill, but from supporting players Dave Franco as the crunchy, Berkeley-bound popular kid and 21-year-old lady rapper Rye Rye as a fellow undercover Jump Streeter. The film even manages to use Rob Riggle well without succumbing to the near-universal rule that almost any comedy featuring the (talented!) Riggle turns out to be kind of terrible. Curse broken! Monday’s 21 Jump Street debut also marks yet another strong showing for a studio release at SXSW after Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods and the surprise horror entry Sinister . Responding to yesterday’s unveiling of the inaugural Movieline Soily Awards, an eagle-eyed commenter pointed out this brief note posted to the Golden Raspberry Awards official message board — a reply apparently from “Head RAZZberry” John Wilson himself: “Many a RAZZIE® imitator has come and gone during the 32 years we’ve been doing our awards. And looking over their category names and choices, I’ve gotta say the so-called ‘Soilys,’ [sic] with their fixation on excremental terminology and their categories with names few American publications would even touch (let alone publish) look likelier to join the ‘gone’ list than make the brief roster of our ‘competitors’ who’ve stood the test of time…” Wait — so is he saying that we’re not going to get the Shit-the-Bed Award written up in USA Today ? Who knew? Anyway, Wilson or his representative or whoever brings up a crucial element of the awards that we did omit: SOILIES® looks so much more dignified, no? Kristen Stewart should finally get to have some fun this November in Summit’s franchise-ending The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 , which sees heroine Bella Swan finally blossom into the hot lady vampire mom she was always meant to be. A new teaser reveals your first full look at Stewart as Vampire Bella flexing her new superpowers, making out with Robert Pattinson , worrying about the hordes who want to kill her baby — you know, the usual new parent routine. The clip, apparently taken from a Target in-store promo reel, reveals Stewart in full vampire mode: Red lips, amber eyes, pale skin, perfect eyebrows, bolder sense of self-confidence. The scene within shows Bella and Edward discussing their final challenge: Gathering enough support from the vampire community to prove to Michael Sheen’s head bloodsucker crew that their little half-human, half-vampire baby Renesmee isn’t an abomination of nature. That’s essentially what the conclusion of Breaking Dawn is about: Parenthood. Sigh. Breaking Dawn Part 2 Teaser Reveals First Look at Vampire Bella Swan
After 10 years of marriage, Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli have called it quits in one of the most unexpected celebrity breakups in recent years. “While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children,” the duo said in a joint statement. “We remain dedicated to raising our three beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this difficult time.” Aside from confirming the sad separation, reps for the couple aren’t commenting on details surrounding the split amid rumors of trouble in paradise. The most fervent speculation of an impending split came last July, with reports claiming the couple had already taken to living separately. In the meantime, while it’s very much unclear when exactly the couple officially parted ways, Garth has already unfollowed Facinelli on Twitter. The Breaking Dawn star and 90210 actress tied the knot in 2001. The now estranged couple are parents to Luca Bella, 14, Lola Ray, 9, and Fiona Eve, 5.
