Where Will Bruno Mars’ ‘Rain’ Fall In ‘Breaking Dawn’?

MTV News takes a closer listen to ‘It Will Rain’ for lyrical clues about its placement in the film. By Jocelyn Vena and Amy Wilkinson Bruno Mars Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images On Tuesday (September 27), Bruno Mars dropped the sweeping, heartbreaking “It Will Rain,” the lead single from the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack , which drops November 8. The Smeezingtons-produced song is all about the pain someone feels when they are deeply in love. On it, Mars croons tortured lines like “There’s no religion that could save me/ No matter how long my knees are on the floor/ So keep in mind all the sacrifices I’m making/ To keep you by my side/ And keep you from walking out the door.” While Twilighters will have to wait until November 18 to find out where the song will be featured in the flick, there are several lyrical cues that offer hints. Hit play on the embedded video as we talk through the song, then read on for a deeper exploration. The Wedding Of course it won’t appear in the actual wedding scene, like when Bella walks down the aisle, but lines like “I’ll never be your mother’s favorite/ Your daddy can’t even look me in the eye/ If I was in their shoes I’d be doing the same/ Say, ‘There goes my little girl/ Walking with that troublesome guy’ ” certainly mirror Charlie’s feelings about the nuptials. Jacob’s Goodbye When Mars sings, “Don’t you say goodbye/ Don’t you say goodbye/ I’ll pick up these broken pieces till I’m bleeding/ If that’ll make it right,” it seems to mimic the heartbreak Jacob feels as he sees Bella marry another man and says goodbye to her once more. The Honeymoon Sure, the song is about heartbreak and pain, but the sexy, sultry nature of the track could make for the right kind of mood-setter as Bella and Edward finally get it on. The Pregnancy As Mars cries, ” ‘Cause there’ll be no sunlight/If I lose you, baby/ There’ll be no clear skies/ If I lose you, baby/ And just like the clouds, my eyes will do the same/ If you walk away, every day it’ll rain,” it mirrors Edward’s angst as he thinks he might lose Bella if she has their child, a vampire/human hybrid. Bruno Mars’ ‘Breaking Dawn’ Song Will Be ‘Dark’

‘I’m Team Bella all day,’ the ‘It Will Rain’ singer reveals in new Billboard interview. By Jocelyn Vena Bruno Mars Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Bruno Mars is set to make it rain on the “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack. Mars’ track, “It Will Rain,” is set to drop on Tuesday, one day after the full track list for the soundtrack hits the streets. “After seeing the movie, I thought that it would be a perfect fit,” Mars told Billboard about the lead single off the soundtrack, which is out on November 8 (just 10 days before the movie hits theaters). “The ‘Twilight’ movies for me [are] a love story. But it’s a dark love story,” he added. “And I think the best way to describe the song is: It’s the darker side of love. I think that pretty much sums it up.” And while the singer didn’t reveal any plot details in the chat, he did weigh in on the biggest conundrum of our time: Is he Team Edward or Team Jacob? “Do I wear a Team Jacob shirt or a Team Edward shirt?” Mars teased. You know what? I’m Team Bella all day.” So how did the song come together? The VMA-nominated singer said it “started off with me and the guitar, and I just had this melody in my head and basically laid it down after I saw the film.” Mars also said he saw “most of the movie” so he “could catch the vibe and feel where they were going with it.” But since he didn’t see a final cut, he has no idea where his song will get placed. “As long as it’s not after the credits,” Mars joked. “I hope it’s in a good [scene]!” Mars and the Smeezingtons had been working on the track before Bruno was asked to contribute to the soundtrack. In fact, earlier this summer, Mars teased MTV News that he had a song he was super excited to share with his Hooligans, though it’s unclear if “It Will Rain” is the same song. “I’m definitely thinking about what’s next,” he said in August. “I’ve got a song that I just wrote that I’m extremely proud of and I worked really hard on, and it’s gonna come out soon.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Breaking Dawn’ Soundtrack: Bruno Mars Makes It ‘Rain’

Mars’ ‘It Will Rain’ first song announced from upcoming ‘Twilight’ album. By Kara Warner Bruno Mars Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage It’s not enough that he’s one of the most in-demand singer/songwriters working today, or that almost every song he cranks out is a chart-topper. Bruno Mars will now win over the millions upon millions of “Twilight” fans with “It Will Rain,” which was announced as the first song on the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” soundtrack. Summit Entertainment broke the news via the “Twilight” Facebook page, along with a photo of the artwork for Mars’ single. The artwork looks like a painting, seemingly created with watercolors or oil paints. The picture depicts a brooding Mars in black silhouette, holding an umbrella in one hand, a bottle of something in the other. He’s sitting in a chair, posture slightly slumped and legs spread out in front of him. The background is colorful, with swirls of paint dripping down the frame. “It Will Rain” is written in prominent thick black lettering to the right of Mars. In knowing Mars’ style, we expect the song to be sweeping, epic and possibly heart-wrenching. In being named to the illustrious ranks of “Twilight” soundtrack artists, the rising star and VMA nominee joins artists like Paramore, the Black Keys and Muse. When we last checked in with “Breaking Dawn” director Bill Condon at Comic-Con, he confirmed they were putting serious thought into the crafting of the soundtrack, courtesy of composer Carter Burwell, who scored the first movie, as well as careful consideration of which acts to include. And while the director would not confirm Pattinson’s inclusion on the soundtrack, he hinted that some of the musically inclined castmembers might lend their talents to a track or two. “We’re just figuring out [the soundtrack] now,” Condon said during MTV News’ “Breaking Dawn” Comic-Con takeover. “We have a lot of [songs]. We have like 15, I think.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . When Taylor Lautner Wept

I know we all kind of visualize Taylor Lautner as a big strapping serving of beefcake and cheese, but the Abduction star is sensitive, too. Just ask him how he reacted to both the end of production and an early-edit screening of Breaking Dawn, Part 1 . Or don’t ask him! Fine! Either way, here’s your Buzz Break.

Robert Pattinson to Release Album, Sources Claim

He makes us swoon on screen. But can he do the same through our iPods? Multiple insiders tell Us Weekly that Robert Pattinson is in the recording studio, laying down lyrics for his first-ever album. “Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it,” said one friend of the actor. “Now he’s got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn .” But can Pattinson actually sing?!? Check out this video and decide for yourself. Pattinson doesn’t need fame or fortune, of course, which is why the source says “the album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop,’ opposed to anything commercial. A second insider, meanwhile, compares Rob’s sound to a “stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison” and adds: “Music is his first love! He’s tortured because he avoids it. When he’s sitting around jamming in the studio, it’s his favorite moment of life.” So, would you buy a Robert Pattinson CD?
