A no-nonsense mom urged her daughter to keep her “head high” after restaurant customers reportedly wrote a racist note to the waitress. SEE ALSO: ‘Not Race, Just American:’ Black Waitress Gets Inspiring Note Regina Boone posted a photograph on Facebook of the note, which said “We don’t tip Black people,” scribbled on a napkin that her daughter received while working at an Applebee’s in Radcliff, Kentucky, News-Enterprise reported on Friday. “I wish!!! I would ever be present when someone disrespects my child! I don’t accept or tolerate disrespect! I’m furious but I know there’s a God in Heaven who sits high and looks low!” Boone, an elementary school teacher, posted . “Take a look in the mirror. Are you strong enough to stand against it (racism)? I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE! My beautiful child, I got you! Always will! Hold your head HIGH and ALWAYS be proud of who you are!” And this is #TrumpsAmerica https://t.co/eafLssJP26 — Tanisha Hammond (@Teebaby77) September 30, 2018 Jasmine Brewer recalled that the group of customers was standoffish, but she provided everything they needed. “If they needed something, I got it. I didn’t realize I was the problem the whole time,” she said. For the rest of the night, Brewer was anxious about serving other tables and was conscious of her race. “It makes you look at yourself differently,” she added. Her mother also posted the note because she wanted to raise awareness that racism continues to be a problem across the nation. “We’re not able to stop racism if people think it doesn’t exist,” she stated, underscoring that education is the solution. Brewer, a mother of three children, hopes that her kids don’t have to face bigotry. “I want (racism) to be gone by the time my kids get older,” she stated. News about the racist note inspired folks to contribute unsolicited tips to Brewer totaling more than $150. Jan Brewer, President Obama Trade Barbs on Tarmac

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer received an earful from President Obama when she met him on an airport tarmac outside Phoenix yesterday – and responded in kind. The Democratic chief executive and Republican governor could be seen engaged in an intense conversation right at the base of Air Force One’s steps. Both could be seen smiling, but speaking forecefully at the same time. At one point, Jan Brewer pointed a finger directly in Barack Obama’s face. Why? Asked later what the conversation was about, Brewer, who recently published Scorpions for Breakfast , said, “He was a little disturbed about my book.” Jan Brewer Points Finger at Obama Something of a memoir of her years growing up, Scorpions defends her signing of Arizona’s controversial law cracking down on undocumented immigrants. Obama, who opposes that law, was objecting to Brewer’s description of a meeting they had at the White House in June 2010. Bad blood has boiled since. Brewer described Obama as lecturing her like “a little kid in a classroom, if you will, and he was this wise professor … I felt minimized to say the least.” The Governor also said that later that year, Obama blew her off when he was in town to deliver the commencement address at Arizona State University. On the tarmac Wednesday, Brewer handed Obama an envelope with a handwritten invitation to meet her for lunch and to join her for a visit to the border. “I said to him, you know, I have always respected the office of the president and that the book is what the book is,” she told reporters Wednesday. She said Obama was upset that she wrote he was not cordial: “I said that I was sorry he felt that way. Anyway, we’re glad he’s here, and we’ll regroup.” The President is visiting the Grand Canyon State to push for initiatives laid out in his State of the Union address , which began his reelection bid in earnest. ‘X Factor’ Castoffs Dexter Haygood, Phillip Lomax Open Up

The Brewer Boys also lament their early elimination, as five contestants were sent home after first live episode. By Jim Cantiello Dexter Haygood on “X Factor” Photo: Fox On Tuesday night, it was time to face the music. And for five “X Factor” contestants , the music said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Throughout the epic live “X Factor” debut, the judges axed five hopefuls they had been personally grooming, turning a top 17 into a top 12. MTV News was granted exclusive press access backstage to speak with the first batch of eliminated finalists just minutes after they were dropped from the show. “I killed it tonight. That’s what I feel, man!” said Memphis rocker Dexter Haygood, who delivered an over-the-top cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” under Nicole Scherzinger’s tutelage. During the early audition episodes, America fell in love with Haygood’s infectious energy and emotional life story, which included everything from living on the streets to fronting Xavion, the first African-American rock band to be featured on MTV. “I’m just happy to be moving on, somewhat,” said Haygood, who chalked up his onstage confusion during elimination to feeling overwhelming pressure. “Let me tell you something: Being in a competition is a lot of stress. I’m not happy to be off, but it’s a good feeling knowing that the competition [has ended],” Haygood said before rocking a sports metaphor: “If you don’t win the Super Bowl, you’re glad the damn season is over.” A downtrodden Phillip Lomax aimed to focus on the good things about his time on “X Factor.” “I’m obviously disappointed, but I have to look at this in a positive light and realize that I’ve accomplished what not many people have,” the crooner said as the sound of a cheering studio audience echoed the halls of CBS Studios. Earlier in the show, Phillip’s swinging “I’m a Believer” raised some questions about song selection among the judging panel, but Lomax insisted he was happy with what L.A. Reid picked for him. “I definitely played a hand in [picking that song] as well,” said Phillips, who got as far as he did in the competition due to his dead-on Frank Sinatra impersonation, which he abandoned for the poppier Monkees hit Tuesday night. “I thought it was a good song. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but I decided to go with what my mentor told me to do and I had faith. I still have faith. I’m still a believer,” he chuckled before censoring himself. “Sorry, that’s way too corny.” Meanwhile, teen sibling duo the Brewer Boys, who both sport Bieber hairdos, were at peace with their elimination, courtesy of teary mentor Paula Abdul — or, as they insist on calling her, “Miss Paula.” They’ll never forget Miss Paula’s “hands-on” mentoring, as well as her gaggle of Chihuahuas they befriended during the judges’ home episodes. Keep your eyes peeled for the duo — who performed a bizarre mash-up of Hall & Oates’ “Rich Girl” and George Michael’s “Faith” on Tuesday — as they hope to hit the road, but in the short term, the only thing on Justin Brewer’s schedule is chilling in bed and playing a ton of “Call of Duty.” Lomax, likewise, has no beef with mentor L.A. for letting him go. “I think he’s an outstanding guy. I wish that he made a different decision, obviously, but he could only take three, and those three guys are outstanding as well. It’s a shame he didn’t pick me,” the aspiring actor shrugged before wandering the halls of CBS Studios to say his goodbyes and hopefully bump into Kim Kardashian, who was spotted nearby at the “Dancing With the Stars” stage. There was no time to chat with Simon Cowell’s eliminated girls, Tiah Tolliver and Simone Battle, who were favorites of the Brit but were never well-liked by his fellow judges. Minutes after the show went off the air, they briskly grabbed their belongings and jumped into a production van to take them back to their hotel. Monty Python’s Life of Brian Controversy Chronicled in New BBC Comedy-Drama

In 1979, church leaders and even some normal people clamored over the content in Monty Python’s Life of Brian , an excellent movie about a guy named Brian Cohen who’s mistaken for the messiah. Opponents claimed the film mocked Christianity, and thus it was banned in several countries (but not the U.S., where it was the highest-grossing British import that year). Now, the BBC is bringing us Holy Flying Circus , a comic drama that chronicles Brian ‘s furor in a bizarre and Python-appropriate format. Puppets are involved.

MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer Uses Eddie Long Scandal For Gay Activism

While discussing sex allegations against Bishop Eddie Long on Friday, MSNBC host and gay rights activist Contessa Brewer asked Bishop James Dean Adams: “Long has taken a very strong anti-homosexual stand….Is there always a danger, if you’re taking that sort of stand, that you’re living in a glass house and people are going to be encouraged to throw stones?” Brewer described how “the Southern Poverty Law Center calls Bishop Eddie Long ‘one of the most virulently homophobic black leaders in the religiously based anti-gay moment. Long reportedly told his congregation about homosexuals, he said, God says you deserve death.'” The left-wing organization spliced together that comment and other clips of Long’s Sermons on its website . Brewer used Long’s comments to go after Bishop Adams: “I mean, you can’t support that, do you? The saying that homosexuals deserve death?” Adams replied: “No. I don’t say that homosexuals or anybody, for that matter, deserves death.” Brewer continued: “Do you think, in any way, Bishop, this will change the way black churches deal with the issue of homosexuality?” Adams explained: “I disagree with the viewpoint that the church is somehow been purposefully anti-gay. It’s not about anti-gay. It’s just simply anti-sin.” On Tuesday, Brewer warned of “consequences” for senators who opposed the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” In addition to her frequent on-air advocacy for gay rights issues, Brewer was the featured speaker at a Kentucky LGBT fundraiser in July. Here is a full transcript of Brewer’s September 24 interview with Bishop Adams: 12:37PM ET CONTESSA BREWER: Megachurch pastor, Bishop Eddie Long, has promised to use this Sunday’s sermon to explain to his 25,000-member congregation what’s going on with that lurid sex scandal that’s rocked his church this week. Three young men have now accused Long of using jewelry, cars, and cash, and his position as their minister, to lure them into sexual relationships. In a written statement, though, Long denies everything, he says, ‘the charges against me and New Birth,’ the church, ‘are false, but my faith is strong and the truth will emerge.’ I’m joined by Bishop James Dean Adams of St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Miami. Whenever there’s a scandal about the shepherd of a flock, it definitely rocks the trust that people have, but what can they do at this point without any kind of proof with his denial of the accusations? JAMES DEAN ADAMS: Well, Contessa, I think that the best thing that all of us can do is allow the process to unfold and the truth to be revealed. It would be a tremendous tragedy if these things were true, but our Christian faith requires us that we are to hope for the best and to look for the best and so that’s the posture that the Christian community is taking. BREWER: What do you make of the fact that he has – Bishop Long has taken a very strong anti-homosexual stand? In fact, the Southern Poverty Law Center calls Bishop Eddie Long ‘one of the most virulently homophobic black leaders in the religiously based anti-gay moment. Long reportedly told his congregation about homosexuals, he said, God says you deserve death.’ And now he’s facing these accusations. Is there always a danger, if you’re taking that sort of stand, that you’re living in a glass house and people are going to be encouraged to throw stones? ADAMS: Well, as the Bible tells us, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and Jesus died for everyone and so that’s the message of the church, mercy. BREWER: So you disagree – Do you disagree with his message then to homosexuals? ADAMS: I hadn’t heard – I hadn’t heard what was said. BREWER: But – but – but in this case, I mean, he is – he’s taking such a strong stand. I mean, you can’t support that, do you? The saying that homosexuals deserve death? ADAMS: No. I don’t say that homosexuals or anybody, for that matter, deserves death. BREWER: Right. Just wanted to be clear about that. ADAMS: That’s the reason Jesus Christ came, not to destroy lives but to save them. BREWER: Okay, so do you think, in any way, Bishop, this will change the way black churches deal with the issue of homosexuality? ADAMS: I believe that there’s a dialogue that’s open as there has always been. I don’t – I disagree with the viewpoint that the church is somehow been purposefully anti-gay. It’s not about anti-gay. It’s just simply anti-sin, that’s – and that’s encompassing everything that you can possibly think of. BREWER: Bishop James Dean Adams, I appreciate your time today, appreciate your perspective. ADAMS: Thank you very much.

Federal Government Sues Arizona Over Racist Law

The federal government today filed a lawsuit to overturn Arizona's new immigration law that has sharply divided a state and a nation. Arizona's law requires law enforcement to verify the status of anyone they suspect may be in the state/country illegally. How can you tell? This law doesn't just promote racial profiling, it demands it. Not only must immigrants carry their alien registration documents at all times, but the potential exists for US citizens of Latin descent to be detained by authorities simply based on their ethnicity. It's legalized discrimination and it's wrong. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, a modern-day George Wallace, called the federal lawsuit “nothing more than a massive waste of taxpayer funds.” Protecting human rights is never a waist. Yes, responsible immigration reform is needed, but racism is never the way to go. The Arizona legislature and Jan Brewer should be ashamed… Your asinine law is going down. added by: lucasives
