Britney Spears, Ryan Seacrest To Host Wango Tango Festival

By James Dinh Britney Spears Photo: Max Morse/Getty Images It’s nearing that time of year when the hottest acts in music come together to take the stage for 102.7 KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango in Los Angeles. On Monday (March 28), Ryan Seacrest took to his morning radio show to announce that he and Britney Spears will co-host the annual music fest, which will feature performances from Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez. Other acts scheduled for the concert event include Pitbull, Far East Movement, Jason DeRulo, Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, New Boys and Cobra Starship. YouTube sensation Cody Simpson will round out the star-studded performance roster. While Spears may just be hitting the stage as special guest co-host, the “Hold It Against Me” singer, coming off of hot weekend shows in Las Vegas and San Francisco , is no stranger to the Wango Tango stage. When her career was just taking off in 1999, the pop star performed at the annual festival and returned a few years later in 2001 to guest-host the festivities. Tickets for Wango Tango 2011, which takes place May 14 at the Staples Center, go on sale to KISS Club VIPs on Friday, April 1, and to the general public on Saturday, April 2. Fans may also want to keep an eye on the hit radio station’s Facebook page, where they revealed they will be giving away meet-and-greet passes for Ke$ha. Brit performs Femme Fatale tracks, shouts out LGBT teens at concert set to air Tuesday on ‘Good Morning America.’ By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears performs during “Good Morning America” Photo: C Flanigan/FilmMagic SAN FRANCISCO — The city of San Francisco loves Britney Spears and that love was apparent at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where the pop star performed some of her brand-new Femme Fatale club bangers on Sunday afternoon (March 27). The excited roomful of fans were among the lucky group tapped to watch her tape a “Good Morning America” performance, which will air on Tuesday, the same day her album drops. Check out hot photos of Britney’s “GMA” performance . Before Spears even hit the stage, five fabulous drag queens warmed up the crowd and declared their adoration for the femme fatale herself. Their sassy back-and-forth was followed by Cheer SF, a cheerleading act. After the room was sufficiently warmed up, “GMA” hosts Sam Champion and Robin Roberts came onstage to introduce Spears. From a set that mirrored the one used in her Las Vegas show two nights ago, Spears kicked off with her lead single, “Hold It Against Me.” She dazzled the crowd with an engaging performance, dancing around in a stunning silver bodysuit. After the song, she smiled, telling the crowd “It’s beautiful” being in San Francisco to perform for them. After a change of clothes into a body-hugging, black bodysuit, Spears got sexy for the will.i.am collabo “Big Fat Bass.” As she shimmied to the thumping track, fans cheered along. Spears even gave a shout-out to the local gay youths who were in attendance from the Larkin Street homeless shelter and the LYRIC center for LGBT youth. “They’re in the front row; thanks for coming.” Between songs, Roberts and Champion taped intros and the former teased a top-secret announcement Britney is set to make on Tuesday when the show airs. Spears then performed one more track, her second single, “Till the World Ends,” to cap off the performance. After her last song, an excited-looking Britney gazed at her fans and told them she was looking forward to releasing her new album: “I love music. It’s my world, it’s my everything.” Before she left the stage, Brit was presented with a certificate from the city, and she thanked them exuberantly the super warm reception. The pop superstar donned multiple costumes during her high-octane three-song set, and her fans loved every moment of it. Emerie told MTV News moments after the show: “I love Britney! Everything was perfect. My favorite part was when she performed the song ‘Till the World Ends.’ Anything with Britney is amazing.” Jewelry designer Heather Bettes added, “It was fantastic. Britney Spears, she looks stellar. She killed it. She really brought it The beading is amazing on her costumes. She looked great. She brought it.” While fans described Spears’ big show as “awesome,” “sexy” and “the best thing ever,” two die-hards had a personal connection to the show. “I loved it!” Danielle said of Brit’s performance at Rain nightclub in the Palms Casino and Resort. In fact, she loved it so much because her pal Mark is one of Brit’s dancers. While Mark was one of her favorite parts, she said Britney really shined. “The very end of the last song [was awesome],” she explained about pop’s reigning queen. “She looked sexy. She’s hot.” Daniel, who is not only Danielle’s friend but also Mark’s boyfriend, was very excited to see his beau onstage with the star. “He looked so sexy,” he proclaimed, adding that Brit had told the dancers that this show was all about her excited fans. “She wants to please all of her fans. She knocked it out of the box.” Those good vibes were felt by Britney as well, who tweeted after the show , “OMFG it feels good to be on stage again!!” For fans who may have missed it, they can check out Spears’ performance in an MTV special airing next week, with a tease dropping Tuesday, the same day as the release of Femme Fatale. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Jive LAS VEGAS — As showtime for Britney Spears ‘ special performance at the Palms in Las Vegas draws closer, fans have already begun to cluster in the lobby of the hotel to make sure they get a plumb spot at the show. And for many, just seeing Spears’ name on the marquee, alongside that of house DJ Pauly D, certainly added to the excitement. “We’re so excited. We were Britney Spears for Halloween,” Spears fan Kelsey told us. Kelsey and a group of eight of her best girlfriends already had plans to be at the Palms for spring break when they found out they’d also be checking out the Femme Fatale star herself. The one-off performance will be filmed by MTV. Katie, who was one of the lucky fans to get a coveted ticket for the show, added, “We have no idea what will happen. We’re really excited about the show. I think no matter what it is, we’ll be super-excited.” With so much about the show under wraps, the Britney fans we spoke to said they have high hopes that Spears will be true to form. “I feel like the old Britney’s finally back so we’re excited,” one said. “I think it’s the whole show together. It’s the whole production [that we’re excited to see]. The choreography, lighting, the energy in the crowd. We’re lucky to know that you’re one of the few who get to see her. It’s nice to see Britney Spears finally almost getting back to normal again, it’s been a long road, but she seems to be on her way. Here she is looking sexy in some photoshoot for something I don’t care about because I’m an adult male. I would spend some time in bed with this Britney, and not just watching reruns of Property Virgins either. I’m talking about holding hands and possibly giving her a foot massage. Hot stuff.

Simon Cowell Addresses Nicki Minaj ‘X Factor’ Judging Rumors

Among the latest speculated additions to the TV singing competition’s coveted panel, which already includes music executive L.A. Reid, is Nicki Minaj . Speaking with XXLMag.com , Cowell addressed whispers that he met with hip-hop’s Harajuku Barbie about the reality show. While confirming that he did talk with Minaj, Cowell insisted that the duo spoke about a range of career ventures. “We spoke to Nicki actually about a lot of projects,” the British music mogul admitted. “It wasn’t specifically about this, but we were just very interested to meet her. I’m a big fan of hers. So I don’t know if it’s gonna be this show or something in the future, but it was definitely somebody I wanted to meet.” As for why the former “American Idol” judge was so persistent on a meeting with the Young Money MC, Cowell pointed to Minaj’s meteoric rise to success. “Off her own back she’s had a phenomenal year last year and she’s gonna have a phenomenal year this year,” he explained. “She’s very smart, very influential, very bright and along with artists like Jessie J. You can’t ignore them and sooner or later they have to be in our world and we have to be in their world.” Whether or not Minaj will make an appearance on “X Factor,” the talent aficionado said he is currently in talks with another hip-hop heavyweight about joining the forthcoming show, which debuts in September. Audition dates for the program begin on Sunday and continue on until late May. Cowell recently spoke to MTV News about what he’s looking for in an “X Factor” contestant. “I love unusual people. I always say, you’ve got to embrace the madness,” Cowell said with a laugh. “I like that we’re going to be very open-minded. The “Hold It Against Me” singer took to her Twitter on Friday afternoon (March 25) to announce a performance at Rain nightclub at Las Vegas’ Palms Casino and Resort scheduled for later this evening. “Looks like my little secret isnt a secret anymore. Whos coming to watch me take the stage TONIGHT at @RainLasVegas at @PalmsLasVegas?” the pop star tweeted. “You’re all invited. Be there or be square bitch!” The curtain was pulled back on the Vegas performance earlier this week when OnSetProductions.com posted a notice scouting for fans to be part of the event, which will be filmed by MTV. “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D will also be on hand throughout the evening. Britney is no stranger to the Rain stage. Back in 2003, the pop titan gave fans a sneak peek of her album In the Zone by surprising about 1,800 clubgoers with a 30-minute set, which included songs like “Me Against the Music” and “Breathe on Me.” Spears’ Vegas performance is the latest in her string of promotional ventures for her upcoming LP. Last week, it was confirmed that she would pre-tape her “Good Morning America” appearance on Sunday, two days before it will air on the show. On the day of her album release, she will also appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for a late-night performance of her two latest singles: “Till the World Ends” and “Hold It Against Me.” In addition to her concert specials, MTV will dedicate March 29 to the singer for what is being dubbed a “Britney Takeover” day.
