Pauly D Says Britney Spears Album Is ‘Amazing’

‘This is gonna be one of her greatest albums,’ ‘Jersey Shore’ star raves. By Jocelyn Vena Pauly D Photo: Bobby Bank/ WireImage Perez Hilton loves Britney Spears’ new single, “Hold It Against Me,” and now it seems that she’s getting some love from “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D. Pauly got to hear some of Brit’s new tunes because he and the pop star have the same management team. “Her album is amazing — like, I can’t even believe it,” he told Billboard.com about the March release. “I will be playing her tracks in the club, they’re so good. I think this is gonna be one of her greatest albums. … Britney’s awesome. We have the same management, and that’s how we meet a lot.” Brit’s “Hold It Against Me,” set to drop Tuesday , is certainly a club banger, and Pauly believes that these days, with so much pop going dance , the singer is right on the cutting edge. “Everyone’s steering towards dance and everything like that, and she’s right there,” he explained. “That’s how I judge good music, is where I’m gonna play it. Like, ‘alright, I’ll play that in the car or I can play that in the club.’ You can definitely play her stuff in the club.” So is it all dance, or is Brit also slowing things down a bit? “She has some tracks you can play in the car, too,” Pauly said, so we’ll take that as a yes. Pauly’s not the only one who’s heard some other new Britney tracks. Ryan Seacrest revealed that he’s heard another song, “I I I Wanna Go,” describing it as a “powerhouse single.” As for “Hold It Against Me,” Seacrest raved about the song’s final cut. “WOW. The demo doesn’t even compare!” he teased. Related Photos The Evolution Of: Britney Spears Related Artists Britney Spears

Britney Spears Vs. Lady Gaga: Perez Hilton Weighs In

‘It’s gonna be a very competitive year for females in music, and that’s exciting,’ celeb blogger explains. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Lady Gaga and Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images Fans are responding with fervor to the great pop battle of 2011. Who will come out on top when Lady Gaga and Britney Spears release new music this year? Well, it seems that Perez Hilton has a feeling that both ladies will be wildly successful. And he also pointed out that there are a few other horses in this race. “The gays will be very happy. I think it’s going to be super exciting and competitive, especially because Ke$ha’s still going to be around and Katy Perry’s still around,” he told MTV News. “It’s gonna be a very competitive year for females in music, and that’s exciting.” If we’re putting Gaga and Brit head to head, who would Perez place his bet on? “When the dust settles, I definitely think that Lady Gaga will win in this battle just because I know personally that Gaga is so hungry and determined to make this album successful that she’s going to work so hard,” he said. “Whereas Britney and her camp think she doesn’t have to work as hard. It will be successful, but I don’t think it will be as successful as Gaga’s.” He may give it to Gaga in the end, but he noted that Britney does have a leg up — initially, at least. “Britney Spears has an advantage coming out first, because if Gaga would have come out first, that would have hurt Britney,” he explained. “But Britney can have her moment to shine, and I look forward to hearing [her single].” Do you agree with Perez? Stephen Dorff Takes Britney Spears’ ‘Everytime’ Scene By Scene

‘Somewhere’ actor recalls details about working with Britney on the 2004 video. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Britney Spears and Stephen Dorff in the music video for “Everytime” Photo: Jive Six-and-a-half years ago Britney Spears and Stephen Dorff documented the ups and downs of celebrity romance and celebrity life in the somewhat dark clip for the pop singer’s single “Everytime,” off her 2003 album, In the Zone . When MTV News had Dorff come into the office recently to chat about his new film, Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere,” we had him take us through the memorable 2004 video scene by scene. “It was a little weird. [Director David LaChapelle] just told me to dis her and just kind of ignore her so I was just playing like a boyfriend in a fight,” the actor recalled of his opening limo scene with Spears, in which the two were surrounded by paparazzi. “This is our take on paparazzos too. They put prosthetic noses on all of them, which is funny. You see how they all look kind of weird. You see all the noses.” As the clip progresses, after Dorff and Spears scuffle with the paps, they make their way to their hotel room. “They said, ‘Start breaking stuff,’ [and] I said, ‘All right,’ ” he explained. “They had all this fake glass, so I just started kicking stuff. It was actually kind of fun.” When it came to the pivotal part of the clip where Dorff comes to a drowning Britney’s aid, he said he was responsible for most of the scene. “That was my idea. I knew I had to save her in the bathtub, but it was my idea to go in with the shoes and the jeans and just kind of find her,” he said. “First they had me change into my boxers. I was like, ‘I don’t think he has time. She’s dying.’ So I just go in.” While the “Everytime” clip certainly touches on some dark topics, Dorff admits that it could have been even darker. “There was an original video, too, which was a lot darker. It was like much more like a suicide type video with pills and wine. It was a little dark probably for the fans,” he said. “She originally died in the video and then in this video she wakes up in the end.” Dorff says his general feeling about the shoot was that it was a joy to work with Spears , who is set to release new music this year. “She was very nice. She thanked me for doing it early in the day. She was very sweet,” he explained, adding that they only spoke a few more times after filming the clip. “I haven’t seen her in years. She had her family and stuff. I hope she’s doing good.” Related Videos Frame By Frame: Stephen Dorff Breaks Down Britney Spears’ ‘Everytime’

Britney Spears Vs. Lady Gaga: Which Diva Will Rule 2011?

Gaga’s Born This Way and Spears’ new album both coming early in year. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga and Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images In 2010, Lady Gaga battled Taylor Swift for female pop domination, but in 2011, Gaga is going up against none other than career pop star Britney Spears. It should be a truly epic battle of the blondes, and it’s made even more interesting because the two not only share sonic similarities, but also have very similar fanbases of loyal devotees waiting to hear new notes from the chart-topping lasses. In 2008, both Gaga and Spears released new music (Gaga with The Fame and Britney with Circus ), and the ladies each released compilation albums in 2009 (Gaga’s The Fame Monster and Britney’s second greatest-hits collection, The Singles Collection ), but never have their releases really come face to face as they will this year. Gaga is set to release her single in February, with her full album, Born This Way , to follow sometime after. Meanwhile, Britney will have her first single out very early in 2011, with the album set for release in March . So, which bombshell will rise to the top of the heap? MTV News asked music critics to weigh in. “I think the thing about Gaga is: Her persona is really experimental, but her music isn’t, and I think she’s gonna have to really come out with some different stuff to make it more interesting,” writer Julianne Escobedo-Shepherd proposed. “I think her fanbase is so solid that she’ll be fine no matter what she does.” New York Times writer Jon Caramanica noted that no one can guess what Gaga has up her sleeve for her next album, but it will be interesting. “I see Gaga changing every six months,” he said. “I think she’s trying new ideas. Maybe they’re not all hits or they’re not all successful, but I think she’s trying new things, so if you look at how Gaga’s going to evolve, I don’t think we can say where Gaga’s gonna land,” he explained, “but I think we can say reliably it’s going to be really interesting.” How does a vet like Britney compete with a newbie? Escobedo-Shepherd explained that Spears is actually in a great place to do it. “She’s got a blank slate right now,” she said. “People don’t know what to expect from her. I think the fact that maybe she’s being more experimental shows that she feels freer a little bit, and I think it’s going to show in the music,” she predicted. “In the music sphere, I think that Britney’s gonna win, but Gaga’s so on top you can’t top her, even if you’re Britney.” RapRadar.com’s Elliot Wilson noted that right now, “It’s Gaga’s game to lose,” and Complex ‘s Noah Callahan said Spears’ vet status could work in her favor. “The thing with Britney Spears that makes it work for her is that she’s been around for so long that people are invested in her narrative, and even when the records are so-so, they still have the desire to see her succeed as an individual,” he said. “I don’t really know what to expect from Lady Gaga in 2011. I do know that she will definitely throw us a curveball and do something that is unexpected.” Do you expect Gaga or Britney to rule 2011? Give us your prediction in the comments below!
