#BlackLivesMatter Natasha McKenna Was Cuffed & Shackled When She Was Fatally Tased

Natasha McKenna’s Hands Were Cuffed & Legs Shackled During Tasing As officers argue that unarmed Natasha McKenna died from “excited delirium” more questions are being asked about what really happened to the Virginia woman who was fatally tased. McKenna who was 5’3 130 pounds and mentally ill, was handcuffed and shackled when she was shot four times with a stun gun in February. She also allegedly had a mask over her face and her last words were “You promised you wouldn’t hurt me,” as six officers left her permanently incapacitated for not bending her knees to be strapped into a chair. S…M…F…H… The Washington Post reports: IT’S BEEN more than three months since a mentally ill woman, Natasha McKenna, died after she was shot four times with a Taser stun gun by a guard in the Fairfax County jail. Since her death on Feb. 8, county officials have offered repeated assurances that a full investigation is underway, and that the facts surrounding the guards’ struggle with Ms. McKenna — which was recorded in full on video — will be laid bare. To date, however, it’s remarkable how little discernible progress authorities have made in providing an accounting of the circumstances leading to her death. A new report by Human Rights Watch — “Callous and Cruel: Use of Force against Inmates with Mental Disabilities in U.S. Jails and Prisons” — documents the routine brutality exercised by guards who are untrained and ill-equipped to deal with mentally ill people, who make up enormous proportions of jail and prison populations. Jail and prison staff use “force in the absence of any emergency, and without first making serious attempts to secure the inmate’s compliance through other means,” according to the report, which details cases similar to Ms. McKenna’s, which unfolded when she resisted the guards’ attempts to remove her from her cell. In Ms. McKenna’s case, she had already been fully restrained — her hands and feet shackled — when a guard, frustrated that she would not bend her knees to be strapped into a chair, shot her repeatedly with his Taser. Ms. McKenna was not physically imposing. At the time she was shocked, she posed no threat to the guards, nor was there any risk she could flee. Taser’s user manual warns several times that repeated use of the weapon against a subject “could increase the risk of death or serious injury.” Despite that, she was shot three times in the weapon’s “drive-stun” mode, which the manual says is “for pain compliance only.” And she was shot once with the weapon’s electrical prongs, designed to incapacitate a subject. Ms. McKenna was incapacitated — permanently. She never regained consciousness after the struggle in the jail on Feb. 3 and died five days later. This news is absolutely terrible. There’s no way Natasha “crazied herself” to death, this was FAR from an accident.

Brutality: Overaggressive Texas Cop Knocks Woman Unconscious In Front Of 6-Year-Old Daughter [Video]

Texas Cop Slam Drunken Woman Unconscious After Resisting Arrest Another day, another citizen assaulted by the state… Via NYDailyNews A Texas cop threw a drunken woman to the ground, knocking her unconscious when her head hit the pavement, as the DWI suspect’s daughter screamed “mommy, mommy!” and ran over to help, according to witnesses and cell phone video. The violent takedown stunned bystanders outside a Round Rock strip mall, though the city’s police chief, who had seen patrol car dash camera footage of the incident, defended Officer Ben Johnson. Police say Viviana Keith, who was clearly intoxicated in multiple public places and then drove drunk with her 6-year-old daughter in the car, was resisting arrest. “The officer was very professional, was talking to her calm, he wasn’t excited, he wasn’t angry,” Banks told KVUE-TV. “It’s unfortunate, the fact that this lady did what appears to hit her head and was knocked unconscious, but I’ll tell you, the officer did what he was supposed to do in a situation like that.” THAT’S what he “was supposed to do”?! South Carolina Police Officer Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Unarmed Black Man

Officer Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Unarmed Black Man During Traffic Stop By now, you’ve likely seen the full graphic video turned in to South Carolina police just days after Officer Michael Slager shot and killed Walter Scott during a routine traffic stop. The video shows Slager not only shooting Scott in the back multiple times, but also planting evidence on his deceased body to justify the lies he told to justify his murder. Just hours after seeing the unarmed man being shot and killed while blatantly running for his life, North Charleston PD decided to arrest and charge one of their own for his actions. Via NBCnews : A police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina, was charged with murder Tuesday after a cell-phone video was released of him fatally shooting an apparently unarmed man in the back following a traffic stop Saturday. Michael Slager, 33, was arrested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and faces 30 years to life in prison or the death penalty, state officials said in a news release. In the video, which was obtained by The New York Times, Slager shoots at the suspect — later identified as 50-year-old Walter Scott — about eight times as he runs away in a vacant lot. The officer, who is white, said the suspect, who is black, took his Taser and that he feared for his life. The Justice Department is also reviewing the incident, which comes on the heels of other police-related shootings involving unarmed black men. Slager was arrested less than an hour after the video, taken by a bystander, was provided to city and police officials. At a Tuesday news conference, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said the decision to charge the officer came after viewing the footage. Good thing the bystander was there to capture what REALLY happened…this cop had lies on deck to tell about what Walter Scott did to “deserve” being shot in the back 8 times. SMH. Take a listen to the 911 call full of falsehoods that Slager made just moments after ending Scott’s life: SMH! At least he was charged. We can only cross our fingers for a conviction in cases like these. NBCnews / Charleston Co Sherrif’s Office

In PIG News: Black Man Files Lawsuit After Cop Turns Off Dashcam Before Brutally Beating Him During Arrest

Black Man Sues After St.Louis Cop Turns Off Dashcam Before Brutally Beating Him During Arrest We’re barely 2 months into 2015 and there’s already been a slew of brutality incidents between black men and police officers across the country. via USA Today ST. LOUIS — A man has filed a lawsuit against the city’s police department after a dash cam video showing his arrest was turned off by an officer. The man arrested, Cortez Bufford, is claiming excessive force. St. Louis police say they pulled over Bufford and a passenger on April 10, 2014, after his car matched a description to a shots fired call. Police say they tried to get him out of the car, but he did not comply. You can hear a man screaming and see a struggle ensue in the police dash cam video. A few officers kick Bufford as he continues to fight back, then an officer uses a taser on him. They are on the ground for nearly two minutes when you hear an officer say, “we are red right now,” which means the camera is on, and then the camera shuts off. “Hold up, everybody hold up, we are red right now, so if you guys are worried about the cameras just wait,” the unidentified officer said. Bufford’s attorney said there was no reason for the police to pull over his client, and no reason for officers to kick him. Bufford was charged with resisting arrest, along with drug and gun possession, but those charges were later dropped. Stay woke and be safe, Bossip fam. These shady cops are showing no signs of letting up anytime soon!

Brutality: Georgia Cop Beats Pregnant Woman Into Miscarriage Because He Didn’t Like Her “Tone”

Georgia Cop And Police Chief Sued After Beaten Pregnant Woman Suffers Miscarriage Via DailyMail A Georgia police officer beat a pregnant woman so hard that she ended up having a miscarriage because he did not like the ‘tone’ she was speaking in, a new lawsuit has alleged. In the $50,000-plus suit, Kenya Harris, says she was called to Albany Police Department (APD) in West Oglethorpe Boulevard in May 2011 after her young son was arrested on unspecified charges. But after waiting for five hours, she informed officer Ryan Jenkins that she had other children to take care of at home and needed to leave. However, Jenkins reportedly reacted in a ‘hostile’ manner. He ‘stated that he did not appreciate the tone in which she was communicating with him, and further stated that if she continued he would take her head and “put it to the floor”,’ the suit says. Shortly after, Harris tried again to explain that she needed to leave – at which point, Jenkins followed through on his threat with the compliance of another officer, Richard Brown Jr, it is claimed. Jenkins reportedly grabbed the expectant mother by the neck, before ‘slamming her to the ground’, causing her to fall unconscious. When she woke up, Jenkins was sitting on her, the suit states. ‘Defendant Officer Jenkins, without provocation, grabbed plaintiff, who weighs less than one hundred twenty (120) pounds, by her neck and slammed her to the ground,’ it reads. Guess this cop feared that this 120 pound pregnant woman was going to take his life… After making bail the next day, Harris traveled to Phoebe Convenient Care in Dawson Road, where she discovered she had suffered a miscarriage due to the beating, the suit states. She was also treated for ‘severe physical’ injuries, including a knee contusion, neck spasms, muscle pain and bruising to her body, the document, filed in Federal Court, claims. Now, Harris is suing Jenkins and Brown, as well as Police Chief John Proctor, for the excessive force, assault, battery and emotional distress that she allegedly suffered at the department. Hope she sees every red cent. Image via Shutterstock

Safaree Talks New EP & Current Relatinoship With Nicki While She Joins Meek For Grammy Weekend

Nicki Minaj’s Ex Safaree Talks New EP And Their Current Relationship Status Safaree Samuels is slowly but surely becoming a circulated name on the pop culture scene in light of his very publicized split from YMCMB first lady Nicki Minaj, but he’s now focused on moving forward with his music. SB recently sat down with XXL Magazine for a quick chat about his upcoming EP, whether or not it will include songs about the break up and even commented on the real status of his current relationship with Nicki amidst all the rumors. Check out a few interview excerpts below. via XXL Magazine So aside from “Burner” what else can we expect from your EP? There’s definitely going to be some personal stuff on there. That’s another thing, too. People are going to really be able to hear where I’m coming from. It’s not just going to be your typical rapper, I’m going to have a couple of things in there that’s going to be personal. When people hear [my next song], they’re going to be blown away. It’s a really dope song. It’s called “Bruce Wayne.” What is it about? It’s about a guy who’s talking to a girl; he’s just telling the girl how he wants to make her feel good, but it’s in a sarcastic, funny way. Also just letting a girl know, “Hey, I like you but don’t get it twisted.” It’s a fun record. It’ll make sense for the spring time. Can you tell me a little bit about your new music? I’m Jamaican, so there’s some things in there of the Jamaican culture. There’s a big Jamaican influence. I’m from Brooklyn, I’m from New York, so they’ll be feel good N.Y. music. There’s going to be down South music. I’m not your typical New York artist. I’m not out here trying to act like I’m a thug who’s going to shoot you and kill you. Because people that are shooting are not free doing music, they’re in jail. I’m not even trying to portray that. Do you want to touch on Nicki at all? They’ll hear it in the music coming up. I get the vibe that you’re trying to distance yourself from the Nicki stuff and focus on the music. I’m just working on myself. You work on yourself everyday, right? Are you and Nicki on good terms? We’re on great terms. Anything else you want to add? Health, wealth and positivity. You get what you put out. Safaree also recently snagged a campaign with Karl Kani clothing and is gearing up to have the video for his single  “Burner” debut on MTV Jams.  Welp. Can’t blame dude for wanting to get on with his life, riiigggght? You can check out the full interview with XXL Magazine HERE . Meanwhile, Nicki and Meek have already been spotted grabbing some grub together out in L.A. for Grammy weekend. Details & pics on the flip….

Clap For ‘Em: Dartmouth College Will Offer #BlackLivesMatter Course On Racial Inequality In America

Dartmouth College Announces #BlackLivesMatter Courses On Racial Inequality In America Darmouth College is taking a step in the right direction by planning to offer courses centered around educating students in racial inequality and violence in America. via Fox News Dartmouth College will offer its students a spring semester course borne of the events surrounding the fatal shooting last year of an unarmed black man by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo. The course, titled, “10 Weeks, 10 Professors: #BlackLivesMatter” is “dedicated to considering race, structural inequality and violence in both a historical and modern context,” The Dartmouth student newspaper reported. The lessons in the Ivy League school’s pilot course will be divided into 15 sections and involve more than 10 academic departments, including anthropology, history, mathematics, English and women’s studies, according to the paper. About 15 Dartmouth professors are expected to teach the individual sections of the class. “We hope students will be able to understand that Ferguson is not just an event in 2014, but something that’s tethered in time to a long history and still-emerging ideas about race in the U.S. and how policing works in an age of social media and distributed surveillance,” said English professor Aimee Bahng, according to The Dartmouth paper. Kudos to Dartmouth College! Hopefully other institutions will soon follow in their footsteps.

Lawsuits: Seattle Woman Files $1 Million Claim Against City After Police Officer Broke Her Eye Socket With Punch

Woman Suing City Of Seattle For $1 Million In Police Brutality Case Consequences and repercussions… Via RawStory Seattle woman who suffered a broken eye socket after a police officer punched her in the face while handcuffed in the back of a patrol car filed a $1m claim against the city, alleging assault and arrest without probable cause. The incident was captured by a patrol-car dashboard camera. Seattle police officer Adley Shepherd responded to the scene of a domestic dispute in June 2014, where he arrested Miyekko Durden-Bosley, then 23. The woman allegedly became verbally abusive with the officer, and Shepherd can be heard accusing her of “escalating” the situation on camera. Shepherd handcuffed Durden-Bosley, and she appears to be tossed into the back of a patrol car. Almost immediately after Durden-Bosley lands in the back seat Shepherd yells “She kicked me!” and lunges into the back seat of the car, on top of the woman, the video shows. Shepherd punched Durden-Bosley so severely that she suffered a concussion and a broken orbital socket. Durden-Bosley told Seattle’s KING5 that she had headaches and blurry vision from the punch seven months later. She told KING5 that she doesn’t remember whether she kicked the officer. The Washington state patrol, the Seattle-based federal US attorney and Seattle police launched investigations as a result of the incident, several media outlets reported. And amid high-profile cases of police brutality, such as the killing of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Durden-Bosley’s case has garnered significant public attention. KING5 reported that the Washington state patrol found Shepherd’s actions “inconsistent with the training and policy”, and that “he unnecessarily placed himself in greater danger and caused unnecessary and foreseeable injury to the handcuffed suspect.” Nevertheless, in December, the King County prosecuting attorney Dan Satterberg declined to press charges against Shepherd (who remains on administrative leave), the Seattle Times reported . Satterberg said state law permits officers to use “all necessary means” to subdue an arrestee. We hope she sees every red cent! Image via Atty. Mike Wampold
