The Russian government is establishing 9 new nature reserves and 13 national parks covering a total area of over 3.8 million hectare by 2020. Oil Hits New Orleans’ Lake Pontchartrain

Photo via MSNBC Lake Pontchartrain lies just north of New Orleans. The famous lake and Louisiana icon suffered from pollution until restoration efforts brought it back to health in the 1990s. It once again became an important fishery and popular recreational destination. Then it got hit by Hurricane Katrina. Now, of course, it stands to be threatened all over again.
