Whatever Happened to 90′s Rapper Tracey Lee?

Go here to see the original:

Remember Tracey Lee ?  The rapper came on the scene in 1997 with the club classic “The Theme (It’s Party Time).”  He even had a cameo from Biggie on the song “Keep Your Hands High.”   But where is Tracey Lee now? After scoring some success in the music biz, Tracey Lee went back to school and got an entertainment law degree.  He’s also getting ready to drop a new mixtape, Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 that includes production from 9th Wonder & Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie, among others. HOT97′s DJ Cocoa Chanelle caught up with Lee and asked him about his upcoming mixtape, working with Biggie, and his new mixtape. Read some of the highlights below, and head over to IAmCocoa.com for the full interview! DJ Cocoa Chanelle: You are one of the few fortunate artists who had a chance to collaborate with Biggie… What was that experience like? Tracey Lee: UNBELIEVABLE!!! During our session, BIG taught me more about the game then I had known, at that particular time. He was the first artist that I witnessed write without a pen and paper, which inspired me to eventually write lyrics in my head (without pen, paper, Blackberry, Android, iPad, etc…lol). He was just a cool dude. His skill set on the mic is unmatched to this day. He forced me to step my game up on that record. To watch his whole process of creating the verses for Keep Ya Hands High was crazy! I am truly blessed to have had an opportunity to work with one of the greatest in the history of music! Not many can say, nor will they even have the opportunity to say that. Again I am blessed. What made you want to get into entertainment law? Long story (laughs). The short version is my career in the music business made me want to study entertainment law. I want to be the eyes and ears for artists that are coming into the game and don’t have a clue about the music business and recording contracts, deal points, 360 deals, publishing, etc.. This is something that I didn’t have when I signed my deal, so who better to guide someone on these aspects of the business than me – someone who not only has experience as an entertainment lawyer, but who also is an established recording artist, as well. What can people expect from your mixtape? My mixtape, Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 is a recap of sorts, mixed with a peek into the future – it’s a Tray Lee journey taking you from the beginning, right up to today. Did I mention that my mixtape is free?! This is the first in a series of mixtapes scheduled for release this year; leading up to the CD entitled, Esquire. Free Consultation Mixtape Series Vol. 1 has cuts from my first CD, Many Facez, along with other songs and freestyles to remind the fans of who Tracey Lee is. I also added some new music to give the fans a taste of what they can expect to hear on Esquire, as well as future Tracey Lee projects. Ashthon Jones Eliminated From ‘American Idol’

Show also featured performances from Adam Lambert and Diddy-Dirty Money. By Gil Kaufman Ashthon Jones Photo: FOX There wasn’t much drama on Thursday night’s (March 10) “American Idol” elimination show. A number of this year’s top 13 stumbled on Wednesday night, and for once, host Ryan Seacrest didn’t torture the contestants by making them wait until the show’s final moments to find out the bottom three. In the end, it was curtains for wild card Ashthon Jones, who stumbled on Wednesday night with a limp cover of Diana Ross’ “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.” Earlier in the night, after slogging through the Ford video and a trip to the “Red Riding Hood” premiere, Seacrest finally got to the business of building that bottom three, calling out Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Karen Rodriguez to center stage. He pulled a bit of rope-a-dope by telling all three they were safe, then adding an “except,” and it was Rodriguez who made season 10’s first long walk to the bottom three, landing there after her messy cover of Selena’s “I Could Fall in Love.” The next group featured teen Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and Jones, with the latter an almost unanimous pick by our “Idol” experts to land in the bottom three . After tearfully admitting that the harsh criticism she got Wednesday night, well, “sucked,” Alaina was waved over to safety. In a shock, though, Seacrest then announced that after 30 million votes, both Jones and Reinhart were in the bottom three as well, ending the suspense early. Jones sang for her life one more time near show’s end, but her thin, reedy vocals were not much better than the night before, despite her clear attempt to go out with a bang. Ash broke down in tears, the judges deliberated, but it was a no-go. “Not this time, baby, I’m sorry,” Jennifer Lopez said after a long exhale, revealing that it was a unanimous no. Jones’ trip to “Idol” ended with a montage keyed to this year’s goodbye song, former “Idol” champ David Cook’s cover of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me.” The only real drama in the show was that for the second time this season, bearded hunk of love Casey Abrams was in the hospital on Thursday night, reportedly due to stress-induced stomach problems. He made a similar trip for treatment more than a week ago. At press time a spokesperson for “Idol” said there was no additional information available about Abrams’ condition. Though it wasn’t pulled out Thursday night, Seacrest announced that the show will once again give the judges a single save this season, which they must use before the top five. Viewers also got a look at the gigantic Beverly Hills mansion the contestants will be living in this year, complete with a star-worthy swimming pool, grand piano, Ford car-shaped pool table and a kitchen that’s bigger than most New York apartments. Looking remarkably tame in a T-shirt, jeans and a black jacket, former “Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert dropped in for an acoustic run through his single “Aftermath,” which mixed his signature power high notes with some nuanced balladeering. Proceeds of the sales of a dance-remix version of the single will go to the anti-bullying Trevor Project. Also dropping in was Diddy-Dirty Money to perform “Coming Home,” complete with a dramatic piano assist from Skylar Grey . The top 12 will do it all again next week. Does anyone over at MSNBC check the facts on stories before they are allowed on-air? An internet scam from 1999 resurfaced over the weekend. It said that men can get healthier just by staring at women’s breasts for a few minutes a day. On Tuesday MSNBC’s Willie Geist completely debunked it. One day later, in the middle of news programming on the network, Contessa Brewer reported the story as legitimate…. Sextra: I Can’t Bring Myself to Watch Porn With Him

Bossip I have a topic for your “Sextra” post! I’ve been with my boyfriend for a little over a year and we have amazing sex. When we first started dating we talked about different things that turned us on and he talked about some of things that tuned us on and his thing was porn. He knows a lot of the female porn stars and all but it’s not my twist. When I was single I did watch porn occasionally when I need to handle my business but other than that I’m just not into it!! He always said he wanted to watch one with me to see what it did to me but I can bring myself to watch one with him because I feel like it’s going to take away from the intimacy we share and I don’t want to corrupt that with porn you know what I’m saying? Am I being to anal (no pun lol) or should I give it a try? I want to please him sexually but I feel like somethings are unnecessary. What would you do? Happy Friday to you, sis! Thank you for writing in and sharing your story! Okay, so you’re struggling with pushing some bedroom boundaries a bit, huh? Well, the thing about adult films and watching them as couple is the sense of escapism or voyeurism, as if the moment is being shared by more than just the two of you. So, no doubt, one could relate to the feeling of being somewhat violated or as if the intimacy is being shared by more than just you and your boyfriend! That’s a hard boundary to cross for many. If that’s what it takes to “please him sexually” then you may want to reconsider what you want out the your relationship versus what you’re getting. Like you mentioned in your letter, you watched pornography by yourself when you felt the urge to “handle your business” and the pornographic experience is different for everybody who chooses to indulge! Some watch it in secret and would never admit to anyone that they do, in fact, watch in the first place and, second, get aroused by it! Then you have those who are on the opposite end of spectrum – they might get off to porn on the regular basis, have no shame about it and would be willing to share some of the best performers, their specialties and what they’ve learned from them. Everyone else in between has their own feelings towards it and participate accordingly, whether it be at random out of curiosity or to pick up a few “techniques” or whenever you need a little visual stimulation to “handle your business!” Everyone is different and watches for different reasons! If your reason is limited to your private moments and that’s where you’d like to keep it, that is your choice. Sis, here’s the deal, you should only do what you are comfortable with and he shouldn’t pressure you to do anything you don’t want to do. If it’s something you don’t feel comfortable with, he should respect your wishes without question. If it’s something that you’re open to but not at this particular junction in your relationship, let it be known and tell him he’ll be the first to know once you warm up enough to the idea to try it. once again, it cannot be stresses enough, communication is key! So, if it’s a firm “no” let him know and don’t waver. If it’s something you’re willing to try in time but you need him to back off it a little, tell him! Be honest with yourself first, sis! Be honest with yourself! Best of luck to you! What do you think, Bossip fam? Please share your thoughts below! Have a wonderful weekend and please remember to email all topic suggestions, feedback and questions to loveandrelationships@bossip.com !

Lil’ Kim Explains Nicki Minaj Battle: ‘I Have To Fight For My Fans’

‘They thought I was gonna sit back and let them do what they were doing,’ MC tells ‘RapFix Live’ about Nicki’s crew. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil’ Kim on “RapFix Live” Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News Lil’ Kim wanted deference from Nicki Minaj . Now, however, it may take much more than that from the upstart who was inspired by the veteran rapper. The two female MCs have been bickering for some time, in interviews and in song, but it seems Kim may want a 50 Cent-to-Ja Rule knockout blow, stopping the Young Money raptress in her tracks. “This is the thing: It’s just, it’s really, like, at the end of the day, I do what I have to do, and I’m gonna keep doing what I have to do,” Kim told MTV News during her appearance Thursday (March 3) on “RapFix Live.” “I’m gonna do me. They’re the ones that brought this about. It could have been that simple. But what they did was underestimate me. They thought I was gonna sit back and let them do what they were doing. I’m gonna let everybody know: I’m on my Hollywood sophisticated, but I’ll bring it back if I have to. And that’s in life. I can’t help it. I’m G’d up from my feet up. If I have to handle my business, I’mma handle my business. And I have to fight for my fans.” Kim claimed her battle against Nicki is a challenge because she “has a powerful building behind her,” referencing her label, Universal Records. But Kim remains resilient, saying her battle is for her fans as much as it’s against Nicki. “What kind of message would that send to my fans if I just sit back and watched?” she said. “Let this girl do what she’s doing. My fans were more fumed than I was. They were looking like, ‘Do you see this? Do you hear this?’ But at the end of the day, I understand what they were feeling. I owe my fans a whole lot.” What do you think of Kim’s crusade against Nicki? Let us know in the comments. Sports, Race, and Power: How Athletes Are Instrumental to Black America

As much as we appreciate the strides that have been made since the Civil Rights movement in terms of racial equality, there are a few realities that remind us that equality is still a goal. The discrepancy between the number of athletes on the field and the number of Blacks in front office positions is a grand example of how covert discrimination plays out in many corporate environments. Are there seriously not enough Blacks interested in the business end of sports? This is just one of the points that Dr. Thabiti Lewis, a professor at Washington State University in Vancouver, examines in his book “ Ballers of The New School: Race and Sports in America. ” Continued at The Atlanta Post
