SMH: Pat “I’m Not A Racist” Buchanan Says White America Will End In 2025, Leaves MSNBC

SMH at “the end of white America” and the shrinking of the “European and Christian core of our country”: Pat Buchanan , a prominent conservative commentator for MSNBC for the last decade, is departing the channel, he said Thursday. In an essay, he cited “an incessant clamor from the left” as the reason for his departure. A spokesman for the cable news channel said, “After 10 years, we’ve parted ways with Pat Buchanan. We wish him well.” The circumstances of Mr. Buchanan’s departure are unclear, but he has not appeared on the channel since October, when he began promoting his book, “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” The book conveyed Mr. Buchanan’s concerns about the effects of demographic changes in the United States, including what he called “the end of white America” and the shrinking of the “European and Christian core of our country.” A number of statements in the book were seized upon by liberal groups, who pressured MSNBC to either sanction or fire Mr. Buchanan. In his essay Thursday on the Web site of The American Conservative, a magazine he co-founded, Mr. Buchanan cited Abraham H. Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, an influential Jewish organization, and wrote, “What Foxman and A.D.L. are about in demanding that my voice be silenced is, in the Jeffersonian sense, intrinsically un-American.” “Consider what it is these people are saying,” Mr. Buchanan continued. “They are saying that a respected publisher, St. Martin’s, colluded with me to produce a racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic book, and CNN, Fox News, C-SPAN, Fox Business News, and the 150 radio shows on which I appeared failed to detect its evil and helped to promote a moral atrocity.” Mr. Buchanan, who twice ran for the Republican nomination for president, has always been an ardent conservative. But MSNBC has not always been a liberal-leaning cable news channel. When he was hired at MSNBC in 2002 — he had spent the previous 20 years hosting CNN’s “Crossfire” on a rotating basis — the channel called itself “fiercely independent” and had no clear political tilt. Mr. Buchanan wrote Thursday, “In the 10 years I have been at MSNBC, the network has taken heat for what I have written, and faithfully honored our contract. Yet my four months’ absence from MSNBC and now my departure represent an undeniable victory for the blacklisters.” While sidelined at MSNBC, Mr. Buchanan continued to make many other media appearances throughout the fall and winter. Of the eight interviewers he named in his essay, five were hosts on the Fox News Channel or its sibling the Fox Business Network. Several Fox News hosts and commentators publicly defended Mr. Buchanan in January, sparking some speculation that Fox could sign him as a commentator at some point. Via NYTimes More On Bossip! Coming This March, Pauly Shore in Whiskey Business

Good news, Pauly Shore fans! Hot on the heels of his recent appearance in last fall’s Bucky Larson: Born to Be A Star , the Weasel himself is heading back to the spotlight with a new feature comedy about a Jersey Shore -style guido wrongly accused of murder who’s forced to hide out in the country, where he develops a knack for bootlegging moonshine. It’s called — simply, poetically — Whiskey Business . What’s that? Tell you MORE?? Developed by CMT and airing March 25 on the cable network, Whiskey Business sees Shore pile on the fake tanner and douchebag airs as “Nicky, (Pauly Shore), the son of New Jersey’s most powerful crime boss. Nicky is supposed to follow in his father’s footsteps, but he’d much rather DJ and mix cocktails at a local club.” Who wouldn’t? “When Nicky is framed for murder he didn’t commit, he goes on the run to escape the law and ends up in a small Tennessee town where he sticks out like a sore thumb. Nicky brings some Jersey Shore to the Deep South and is treated with Southern Hospitality and is befriended by a cast of characters, including country cougar Trina (Tanya Tucker). At first Nicky is as suspicious of the townspeople’s moonshine as they are of his fake tan, but he soon bonds with the residents to take down Gilly (John Schneider), the town’s corrupt sheriff.” I know what you’re thinking: How have we survived this long as a people without a movie called Whiskey Business , let alone the historical meeting of the MTV-spawned Pauly and Jersey Shores? (Fun fact: There is one movie listed on IMDb about wacky pet shenanigans called Frisky Business and another involving naughty bondage, but no other Whiskey Business to date.) I don’t know, either, but I do know that these behind-the-scenes photos and stills Shore posted to his Facebook fan page during filming (including the Saddest. Fist bump. Ever. ) only make this even more of a must-DVR occasion. In a press release, Mary Beth Cunin, SVP Programming Strategy at CMT, explained the move to produce an original Shore vehicle. “Pauly Shore is a CMT fan-favorite and we’re thrilled to be in business with him on this movie… Pauly’s movie Son In Law is one of CMT’s top performers, so to find a new vehicle to showcase his talent and popularity is an exciting opportunity.” Ah, Son in Law . Suddenly it all makes even more sense. Looks like Shore’s on his way to being “the West Coast’s Woody Allen” after all! [ Deadline , Facebook ]

Zooey Deschanel Excited To Scratch ‘SNL’ Off Her Bucket List

Actress tells MTV News hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ ‘will definitely be a highlight of my life.’ By John Mitchell, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Zooey Deschanel Photo: MTV News Zooey Deschanel will get to scratch off one more item from her bucket list when she takes the stage to host this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” with musical guest Karmin. The Golden Globe-nominated star of Fox’s hit sitcom “New Girl” is a longtime fan of the legendary sketch comedy show and remembers watching Mike Myers and Dana Carvey create classic characters when she was a kid. “I think the cast is so strong right now,” Deschanel told MTV News. “It’s really great to be here right now.” Indeed, her regard for the cast is so great she wouldn’t reveal her favorites, insisting she couldn’t wait to hit the famed Studio 8H stage at 30 Rock with each and every member of the current “SNL” team. “This will definitely be a highlight of my life,” she said. “For sure, the bucket list.” With booking “SNL” scratched off her to-do list, the actress can focus on the business of hosting the show, which includes a lot more work than what you see on camera. “They ask you if there’s anything you’d like to do, if there’re any impressions you can do, and, you know, characters — sort of talk about stuff you’re capable of doing,” Deschanel says of the “SNL” writing team, who take all that info and, in an all-night writing session, churn out the first draft of the script. “Once you do the read-through is sort of when you can see what’s working and not,” she said. “But it’s not really until you read it out loud that you really know.” And she can’t wait to break out some of the impressions she’s been working on in the lead-up to Saturday night. “I’m an actor and that’s one of the things you do,” Deschanel said. Are you planning to check out Zooey on “Saturday Night Live”? Let us know in the comments below!

Bruce Springsteen Releases Official Music Video for "We Take Care Of Our Own"

Bruce Springsteen has released the official music video for “We Take Care Of Our Own,” and it’s not exactly the most upbeat four minutes in the history of the business. As posted below, the video is shot in black and white and features no member of the E Street Band. Instead, we simply see shots of The Boss playing in an abandoned house, which are toggled between images of everyday Americans walking around, sullen, as the lyrics flash on screen. However… Springsteen then asks “where’s the promise from sea to sea” and colorful, happier images crop up, such as a young boy catching a baseball. Watch below and mark down March 6 on your calendar. That’s when the album “Wrecking Ball” comes out. Bruce Springsteen – We Take Care Of Our Own (Official Music Video)

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Latest preview reveals Spidey’s new mask — and his attitude. By Kevin P. Sullivan Andrew Garfield in “The Amazing Spider-Man” Photo: Marvel / Columbia Pictures “Spider-Man” fans who stayed up late Monday were treated to the second trailer from the superhero’s upcoming reboot. The preview for “The Amazing Spider-Man” showed off new action sequences, a transformed reptilian villain and the smart-ass attitude fans of the comics have missed in recent years. We’ve watched the trailer more times than we care to mention and took the opportunity to break down our favorite moments. Here are the five key scenes from the “Amazing Spider-Man” trailer: Mask You’d have to think back hard, but believe it or not, the first trailer only included a glimpse at Spider-Man’s mask. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but it isn’t until you see the old red-and-blue for a period longer than half a second that you realized what you were missing. The new suit looks good, if slightly over-stylized, but the mask brings it home and makes it feel like a “Spider-Man” movie. Attitude “Spider-Man 3” may have caused you to forget that Spider-Man is actually kind of a smart-ass and not just an emo guy who dances in the street with side bangs and zero self-awareness. In “Amazing,” the wisecracking Spidey returns to make a carjacker feel like a complete dumbass, as he should. Andrew Garfield ‘s take on the hero brings back the fun, intentionally. Mr. and Mrs. Parker The official plot synopsis released a few weeks ago focused on Dr. Connors’ connection to the flighty parents that Mr. and Mrs. Parker were. The trailer plays off that new information and shows Peter hunting down the one-armed doctor to find out what happened to the parents he barely knew. It’s an element we haven’t seen in the previous films and one “Amazing” wants to put front and center. Lizard With the extra emphasis on Curt Connors comes an extended look at his bigger, greener side. After teases with flipped cars, we get to see the Lizard fully transformed, albeit a fleeting peek. They wouldn’t want to spoil it all for us, but we saw enough to confirm that the PEZ dispenser was, in fact, accurate. The Spire The trailer finishes with a shot from an action sequence that most likely takes place near the end of the film. Peter stands on the spire of a skyscraper, dressed in Spider-Man attire from the neck down, but he won’t be standing for long. The spike begins to tumble, and Pete struggles to not fall with it. The shot brings the serious action notes the first trailer lacked and makes us question how much we haven’t seen from the film.
