What’s Wrong With This Headline: “Cops Still Missing 2 Kilos Of Cocaine”

We swear this was a joke on BET back when Comic View was poppin’. The investigation into the disappearance of three kilograms of cocaine from the Gwinnett County Police Department last year has revealed serious lapses in security inside the unit that performs undercover drug investigations. Only one of the kilos of cocaine could be accounted for after the GBI investigation. The drugs went missing from a locker in the narcotics unit because officers did not properly document how they were handled, the investigation found, which was symptomatic of a lack of proper documentation that apparently went on for years. Gwinnett County Police Chief Charles Walters said that no one was disciplined for the lapse. Nor will anyone face criminal charges, said Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter. Both appeared Monday in a joint press conference to discuss the GBI findings. Porter said the investigation, which taken over by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the police department’s request, was hampered by several factors: * Officers’ failure to follow established procedures, which resulted in incomplete or absent documentation of the handling of the drugs. Many transactions were videotaped, but the videos were lost when a new server was put in place. * There were discrepancies between the policies for specialized units and policies for other officers. * Security of the safe where drugs and cash were stored was compromised, because several officers knew the whereabouts of the combination and/or the keys. On one occasion, the safe was found to be unlocked and standing open. * The supervisor who was primarily responsible for documentation at the time the lapse occurred, former Gwinnett Police Lt. David Butler, was under criminal investigation for allegedly taking $4,000 in cash from a safe and making unapproved charges on a department credit card during the GBI’s probe. He has been indicted on criminal charges. One of the kilos of missing cocaine was determined to have been used for legitimate law enforcement purposes. It was secured in the evidence room but was not properly documented, Porter said. The other two kilos of cocaine remain unaccounted for, along with several pounds of marijuana, various pills and fake drugs used in undercover drug operations. Porter said it is possible the drugs were divided into smaller units to be used in undercover drug buys, or that they were destroyed. It is also possible they could have been misappropriated or taken, Porter said. Someone in the Gwinnett Police Department has been bumping a little too much “B.M.F.” Source

Rihanna And Drake Flirt, Fire Up Grammy Stage

Sassy singer and Toronto MC perform hit single ‘What’s My Name?’ as pyrotechnics light up the stage. By Jayson Rodriguez Rihanna and Drake perform during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Photo: The Recording Academy/CBS Luckily for Rihanna, she didn’t take the Grammy stage until after 11 p.m. on Sunday (February 13) because the Loud star’s gyrating hips and seductive dancing might have been too steamy for primetime. Rihanna was joined by Drake and the two delivered a flirtatious rendition of their “What’s My Name?” The Toronto lyricist — dressed in a black leather jacket, boots, sweater and cargo pants — dropped his sexually charged opening rhyme then positioned himself behind Rih Rih for a quick two-step as pyrotechnics fired off in the background. “Not everybody knows how to work my body,” Rihanna sang. “Knows how to make me want it/ Boy you stay up on it/ You got that something / That keeps me so off balance/ Baby you’re a challenge, lets explore your talent.” Rihanna traded in the extravagant gown she wore for her performance with Eminem for “Love the Way You Lie” in favor of short red number that was as fiery as her hair. The backdrop could have passed for an erotic scene in Pacino’s “The Devil’s Advocate.” It was by far the sexiest performance of the night. During a short Calypso-style breakdown, Rihanna shook and shimmied with a sneaky grin. “Ooh na na, what’s my name?” she sang on the chorus. “What’s my name, what’s my name?” “Baby you got me, ain’t nowhere that I’d be,” Rih continued on with her verse. “Then with your arms around me, back and forth you rock me/ So I surrender, to every word you whisper/ Every door you enter, I will let you in.” What did you think of Rihanna and Drake’s Grammy performance? Arcade Fire Take Home Album Of The Year Grammy

Indie-rock band bests heavyweights like Lady Gaga and Eminem in the show’s final category. By Ryan J. Downey Arcade Fire win Album of the Year at 2011 Grammy Awards Photo: Getty Images Who says the Grammys reward nothing but pop music? Critical darlings Arcade Fire nabbed the top prize for Album of the Year at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night. The Canadian indie rock group’s The Suburbs bested major label albums from megastars Eminem, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, whose media campaigns were as relentless as their radio hits were ubiquitous. The category was rounded out by Lady Antebellum , huge stars in the world of country and multiple Grammy nominees in their own right. Check out photos of Arcade Fire’s performance and more! Arcade Fire’s Album of the Year win was something of an upset, although MTV News’ own James Montgomery did sort of call it for them. The band’s Grammy heat was part of a wave that showed how much traction indie releases have gained with Grammy voters in recent years. The Suburbs was released by Merge Records, the independent label based in Durham, North Carolina, that has been home to underground acts like Lou Barlow, The Clientele, Superchunk and Neutral Milk Hotel. In addition to performing, Arcade Fire were up for three Grammys this year. On Sunday night in Los Angeles, groups like Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses and Broken Bells all joined Arcade Fire in battle with more mainstream nominees like Justin Bieber and Eminem. The Suburbs has sold roughly 400,000 copies, making it a smash for an indie label, particularly in the age of downloading. Arcade Fire’s Funeral (2005) and Neon Bible (2008) were both nominated for Best Alternative Music Album. The Montreal, Canada-based multi-instrumental band is led by husband-and-wife team Win Butler and R

Arcade Fire Throw An Anti-Grammy Party At Secret Show

The Grammy-nominated indie rockers announced details of the Los Angeles theater show just 12 hours before taking the stage. By James Montgomery Arcade Fire’s Win Butler Photo: Getty Images LOS ANGELES — It wasn’t the Grammys, and it wasn’t supposed to be. On Friday night, far away from the machinations of the music industry and the glad-handling of golden gramophones, in a grand old theater that now doubles as the Ukrainian Culture Center of Greater Los Angeles, Arcade Fire — the indie band who, at Sunday’s 53rd Grammy Awards , will face off against the likes of Eminem and Lady Gaga for Album of the Year — threw what will probably go down as the week’s greatest un-official, anti-Grammy pre-party: a sweaty, exuberant, all-ages secret show that felt about a million miles removed from the award-show hysteria that has descended on much of the city. Only 500 tickets were sold, in a first-come, first-serve basis at three locations (a pair of record stores and the venerable El Rey Theatre) on Friday afternoon. There was no red carpet outside or a VIP area inside, just the still-elaborate eaves of an 86-year-old building now crumbling away on a decidedly gritty stretch of Melrose Avenue. The band gave away “free drinks and cotton candy” before the show even began. It was, in short, an anti-industry affair in all conceivable ways, and Arcade Fire savored every second of it. As the strains of Julie Andrews’ “Lusty Month of May” crackled over the speakers, the Canadian band’s members took to the tiny stage, grinned and then, appropriately enough, blasted headlong into “Month of May,” from their Grammy-nominated The Suburbs, with frontman Win Butler cocking his head and jutting his guitar out into the crowd — who, being so close, gladly reached out and grabbed it. Given that they were playing at full strength — eight in all, sawing and hammering away on a menagerie of violins and keyboards and drums and guitars — and that, for much of the past decade, they’ve been tailoring their sonics to massive festival crowds and cavernous indoor spaces, the sound they produced in this little theater was enormous; it washed over the audience, all the way to the back of the building, and then up to the arched ceilings. And that only added to the euphoria. Because there truly is something to be said about seeing a band this big in a venue this small. Already-massive songs like “Rebellion (Lies)” and “Neighborhood #2 (Laika)” became even larger, the bass rumbled and the strings stabbed, the chanted vocals of R

I Spit on Your Blu-ray: DVD Roundup 2-8-11

This week on DVD and Blu-ray, we have the skingorrific sleazefest I Spit on Your Grave (both the 1978 original and the 2010 remake), along with the 1996 skinstant classic Barb Wire . It’s a triple threat of bare-breasted butt-kicking babes! I Spit on Your Grave (1978) The original revenge flick that started it all, I Spit on Your Grave stars feisty firecrotch Camille Keaton as a writer who is brutally attacked by a group of backwoods hillbillies and left for dead before coming back to deliver an equally brutal vengeance. Along the way, Camille shows off every inch of her naked body. And that will have you spitting in your pants. I Spit on Your Grave (2010) The equally violent and sleaze 2010 remake of I Spit on Your Grave features Sarah Butler in the main role. And just like Camille in the original, Sarah survives her vicious and sadistic treatment to take revenge on her attackers, but not before baring boobs, butt, and beaver. And that will have you spitting in your pants like its 1978 all over again! Barb Wire Racktastic 90s sex symbol and PETA activist Pamela Anderson stars in the 1996 skinstant classic Barb Wire. As a bra-busting bounty hunter/club owner in dsytopian fascist future, Pamela has plenty of occasion to get naked, like when she bares T&A in the rain-soaked title sequence. Sadly, there’s no full frontal so we don’t get to see whether her aversion to wearing fur counted for beavers too.

Parents Catch Fade At High School Game And Beat The Officers Down [Video]

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools athletics director Vicki Hamilton said school officials will wait until Monday to decide on what action to take following Friday’s incident during the Butler at East Mecklenburg basketball doubleheader. Following a blowout win by Butler’s girls, a parent of a Butler High starter was arrested after getting into a fight with a school resource officer. The incident was captured on video by WCNC, Channel 36, which was at the game filming highlights for its “Friday Night Frenzy” highlights show. According to reports from the game and the video, a fight broke out between the father and the officer. Then the man’s wife jumped in, along with the daughter, and began hitting the officer on the head. Sources say the incident started after the officer asked the player to sit on the Butler side of the gym. Several East Mecklenburg girls’ players transferred to Butler this season and the schools have a long rivalry. Hamilton said with school being out and the police report (as of early Saturday) not written, it would be hard to sort through all the information necessary to address the situation. Hamilton said school officials will meet Monday and determine what action to take.
