Russell Brand And Charlie Sheen: ‘Winning’ At The Movie Awards

Sunday’s host sets his sights on Sheen’s seating card in new Twitpic. By Josh Wigler Russell Brand and Charlie Sheen’s seat card Photo: Russell Brand via Twitter UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The world is Russell Brand’s oyster. Well, perhaps not the world, but certainly the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City — that’s the site of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , which Brand will lord over and command with his own unique (wait for it) brand of comedy on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. “MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things. Movies and Awards. If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life,” Russell Brand said when he was first announced for the hosting gig. Well, it looks like he’s doing his best to fulfill that wish — from the looks of it, he could be well on his way toward an encounter with some goddesses. Brand, already knee-deep in preparation for the big night (even if former host Andy Samberg doesn’t think he’ll need to do much prep work ), has been spending time on the Movie Awards stage this week, and he’s set his sights on a particular celebrity’s seat: none other than the party god himself, Charlie Sheen . “MTV Awards tomorrow. Got my seat sorted. Winning/wanking,” he wrote on Twitter , accompanied by a photo of him sitting down and holding Sheen’s seat card . We’ve long held a theory that tiger blood is transferable simply by physical contact with any possession belonging to Mr. Sheen. If that truly is the case, Brand is officially walking on Sheen’s winning path. We appreciate the effort, Russell, but don’t you think you’d have better luck on that Group Sex Awards goal by actually attending one of Sheen’s never-ending parties? Just a suggestion, take it or leave it! Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Andy Samberg Leaving ‘Saturday Night Live’

‘It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,’ Samberg says of leaving after seven years of ‘SNL.’ By Josh Wigler Andy Samberg Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic It’s the end of an era for Andy Samberg, as the Lonely Island frontman has finally confirmed his exit from “Saturday Night Live.” Samberg spoke with The New York Times on Friday (June 1) and described the decision to depart “SNL” as “an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life.” He added, “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.” No, it isn’t a huge shock — Samberg’s final Digital Short, a sequel to “Lazy Sunday,” strongly suggested his impending exit — but it’s nonetheless “one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made,” according to Samberg. In elaborating on his reasons for leaving the show after seven seasons, Samberg echoed the philosophy of fellow castmember Kristen Wiig, who also just concluded her “SNL” run . “She kept saying it just feels like it’s her time,” he said. “I connect with that. Something about it just feels like it’s the moment. My contract’s up, and I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever even do.” Samberg’s decision to walk away from the New York City-based variety show comes shortly after comments he made during his MTV Sneak Peek Week appearance for “That’s My Boy” this past Wednesday. At the time, Samberg told MTV News that his mind had not yet been made up regarding his future with the show. “You know, I’ve just been focusing on the movie and all this stuff,” the onetime MTV Movie Awards host said. “I haven’t talked to Lorne about it yet. Something will get decided over the summer. We’ll see. No matter what, it’s been a dream come true working there for me.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Taylor Lautner Parkour Flick Will Be ‘Action Heavy’

‘Tracers’ will ‘really dig into this society,’ producer Wyck Godfrey tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Taylor Lautner Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images When MTV News sat down with “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” producer Wyck Godfrey recently for some expert analysis of the film’s chances in taking home golden popcorn at this Sunday’s (June 3) MTV Movie Awards , we walked out with insightful Best Kiss category commentary as well as a few good tidbits about his future projects with the franchise’s stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner . Pattinson’s potential project is in the very early stages, but Lautner’s next movie with Godfrey has been greenlit, an action thriller called “Tracers” , which Godfrey said will put Lautner’s character into the underground world of parkour. “We’ve got a great young Spanish director, Daniel Benmayor … and it’s really tackling the subculture of parkour,” Godfrey said. “I think we all have seen parkour as action sequences in movies, but we haven’t delved into the denizens of that world and what that’s about. I kind of think of it as an action-heavy Gus Van Sant movie, because you really dig into this society.” When the film was announced, Lautner’s character was employed as a bike messenger, but Godfrey revealed that detail will likely change. “There’s a movie coming out that Joe Gordon-Levitt’s doing [‘Premium Rush’], and I saw a trailer and thought, ‘We should change our guy’s job because [Gordon-Levitt] did it so well,’ ” Godfrey explained. “That’s really just a jumping off point in the movie, so it’s easy to change.” We then asked whether, before landing the role, Lautner demonstrated proof of his parkour moves — the art of which involves moving quickly through any environment via jumping, rolling and running. “Honestly, one of the reasons we went to him is that in ‘New Moon,’ he does that thing where he goes up the tree, and that was something that I was there watching him train every day and realized how extraordinary he was athletically,” Godfrey recalled. “He almost doesn’t need the wires.” Don’t forget to cast your vote for Lautner’s nominated movie, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” to win big at this year’s MTV Movie Awards . It all goes down at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, at 9 p.m. ET/PT this Sunday, June 3. Related Videos Behind The Scenes At The 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Exclusive: Channing Tatum Takes It Off In ‘Magic Mike’ Clip

Steamy teaser debuted Thursday night during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. By Jocelyn Vena Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike” Photo: Warner Bros. Channing Tatum , along with co-stars Matt Bomer and Alex Pettyfer, get their groove on to “It’s Raining Men” in a brand-new, exclusive clip from “Magic Mike,” which we premiered Thursday night (May 31) as part of Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. Tatum not only debuted the teaser, he also sat down with MTV News’ own Josh Horowitz and dished on playing the title character. The Steven Soderbergh-directed flick opens June 29 and goes inside the world of hard-bodied male strippers. In the clip, the guys are decked out in raincoats as they dance with umbrellas. The fellas shake, shimmy and, of course, strip — actually they tear off their clothes — to the iconic disco tune. But the highlight of the scene is probably when Tatum gets his dirty dancing on and humps the stage while the club’s female patrons swoon and scream. But that’s not it for Sneak Peek Week: On Friday night, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta will join us for a chat about the big-screen adaptation of “Rock of Ages,” which also stars Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and more. Check back in at 11 p.m. ET Friday for our live Q&A with the actors. Rihanna, Radiohead Pick Up O Music Award Nominations

After fans submitted new nominees, RiRi and Radiohead are in the running for O Music Awards, which stream live on June 27. By James Montgomery Rihanna Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP The O Music Awards have always been the least traditional awards show. And as if this year’s edition — which will stream live online on June 27 over the course of 24 hours … aboard a bus with the Flaming Lips behind the wheel — wasn’t already proof of that point, well, try this on for size. Thanks to fan suggestions, the O Music Awards have expanded their list of nominees, meaning that acts like Rihanna and Radiohead have picked up nods, and 30 Seconds to Mars are now tied with the Lips, Taylor Swift, Tanlines and MC Hammer (!) as the event’s most-nominated act. RiRi picked up a nom in the ( very prestigious)Best Artist With a Cameraphone category — she’s up against the likes of Justin Bieber and Kreayshawn — while Radiohead are now up for the Digital Genius Award, facing off against Gorillaz, iamamiwhoami and OK Go (to name just a few). 30 STM earned a nod for Best Online Concert Experience, which, when coupled with their Fan Army FTW nomination, means they’ll head into the awards show with a total of two noms. So far, more than 2.7 million votes have been cast in all the O Music Award categories. For a full list of nominees and to vote for your faves — including Nicki Minaj and One Direction — in each category, check out the show’s official site . The O Music Awards will stream live at OMusicAwards.com on June 27, when the Flaming Lips will board the Magical Mystery Merry Prankster Bus and attempt to break Jay-Z’s record for playing the most concerts in one 24-hour period.

Justin Bieber Rooting For ‘Bridesmaids’ At MTV Movie Awards

Singer shares his fond memories of the Movie Awards, which always have him ‘laughing and having a great time.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara Warner Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News Justin Bieber ‘s fondness for the MTV Movie Awards dates back to a time way before his 2011 nomination for Best Jaw-Dropping Moment. “My first memory?” he pondered to MTV News. “I remember just watching it from a young age and always laughing and having a great time.” While he didn’t nab any noms this year, he is hoping that “Bridesmaids” walks home with a Golden Popcorn trophy when the 2012 MTV Movie Awards go live this Sunday. “I liked ‘Bridesmaids.’ I need to see ‘Hunger Games’ again. I need to see it because I went there the first night it came out and I feel asleep because it was like super-late. But I need to see it again,” he explained, before breaking down why he loved the raunchy female comedy so much. “I just think it was funny. It’s kind of like the female version of ‘The Hangover,’ ” he said. “I thought it was funny.” Expect more memories to be made and lots of Golden Popcorn statues to be handed out (maybe even to “Bridesmaids”) when the 2012 MTV Movie Awards take place this weekend. There are many wonderful gospel and blues songs from and about Indiana, like this one, which you could be singing for the rest of the day! Or you could watch this tiny tyke sing about homos going to H-E-L-L. (Of course the child does not say “hell,” because that would be indecent.)
