‘Dark Knight Rises’ And The Most Epic Movie Awards Reveals Ever!

Before Sunday’s Batman sneak peek, we list five of the all-time best. By Josh Wigler, with additional reporting by Jim Cantiello Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Warner Bros. UNIVERSAL CITY, California — “The Dark Knight Rises” is still over a month away from hitting theaters, but you’ll get a brand-new look at the hotly awaited superhero flick this Sunday during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards . We’re presenting exclusive footage from the film during the show, though the specifics remain under wraps — exactly as the mysterious Batman would want it. “I was put in a room, the door was locked, I was handcuffed, I had a bag over my head, the bag was revealed, they pressed play on the DVD, and I’m sworn to secrecy — but I’m telling you, it’s good,” Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton told MTV News when we asked him about the “Dark Knight” footage. As we said: mysterious — but presumably awesome. Indeed, if Movie Awards history tells us anything, the “Dark Knight Rises” footage will be a beautiful sight to behold. Our annual awards show has a strong track record when it comes to rewarding viewers and attendees with cool, exclusive sneak peeks at the coming year’s hottest flicks. From sparkly skinned vampires to robots in disguise, here are five of the all-time best Movie Awards footage premieres: “Twilight” (2008) The first look that started a phenomenon. In 2008, we unveiled the first complete scene from “Twilight,” featuring superstars-in-the-making Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in their most iconic roles to date. It was an action-packed scene, too, ripped straight out of the climax of “Twilight” where Bella is being brutalized by bad vamp James — until a certain pale-skinned mega-hunk flies in to save the day. “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009) Eventual outcome aside, our excitement for “Revenge of the Fallen” ahead of the movie’s release was through the roof. And we were equally psyched to debut an exclusive clip from the second “Transformers” movie at the Movie Awards in 2009, showing Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky and Megan Fox’s Mikaela Banes fighting for their lives against a Decepticon spy. Just as exciting was our exclusive reveal of the Fallen himself. LaBeouf gave MTV News the exclusive first details about the monstrous villain that more than whetted our appetite for the film to come. “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (2010) Even if it wasn’t a box-office hit, “Scott Pilgrim” remains one of our favorite flicks from 2010 — and our excitement hit an all-time high when we got a first look at the film at the 2010 Movie Awards. The scene, presented by director Edgar Wright, centered on heroic loser Scott’s battle against the second (and most famous) of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes: Lucas Lee, the skater-boy celebrity played by eventual “Captain America” star Chris Evans. It was our first fully formed look at Wright’s frenetic vision, and the scene shown at the Movie Awards ended up being one of the highlights of the final film. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” (2011) Just as we were the first to bring the beginning of “Twilight” to the masses, so too were we there for the beginning of the end. The first trailer for the “Twilight” finale’s opening act — “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” — premiered at last year’s Movie Awards and was met with all the fanfare you’d expect. Twilighters oohed and ahhed over the first glimpses of Edward and Bella’s hotly awaited wedding, not to mention gratuitous shots of shirtless Jacob Black. The “Breaking Dawn” trailer was the talk of the Movie Awards that year. Though it had to share some of the spotlight with … “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” (2011) “The boy who lived … come to die.” The wicked Lord Voldemort’s cruel words sent shivers down fans’ spines when a brand-new clip from the “Harry Potter” finale premiered at last year’s Movie Awards. Easily one of the greatest footage reveals in the show’s history, if not the greatest, this look at “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” rocked the “Potter” community to the core for showing such a pivotal scene so far in advance of the film’s theatrical release. Harry’s walk through the Forbidden Forest to meet his maker at the hands of You Know Who stands out as one of the strongest scenes in “Potter” history, and we’re thrilled to have been able to supply fans worldwide with their very first look. Kristen Stewart Takes Us Inside Her Most Difficult ‘Snow White’ Scene

Best Kiss nominee and Movie Awards presenter says she was ‘so not ready’ for film’s emotionally charged speech. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — In her latest film, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” actress Kristen Stewart proves that the fabled heroine is not only fair, but incredibly fierce. Suiting up in armor and wielding a glinting sword, Snow White must save her kingdom from the clutches of her evil stepmother, Queen Ravenna (played by Charlize Theron ). Yet, for as much onscreen bravery as she showed, Stewart was admittedly apprehensive about one scene in particular, she revealed during Sneak Peek Week, leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET, where the actress is also a presenter. Stewart, along with co-star Sam Claflin , took to the Universal Studios CityWalk stage to debut an exclusive clip from the film and participate in a 30-minute Q&A session. When asked by a fan in the audience which scene was the most emotional for her to film, the Best Kiss nominee hesitated before recalling a moment late in the movie in which Snow White rallies her troops. Clad in a billowing white gown, Stewart delivers a rousing monologue, encouraging the townspeople to take up arms against the Queen — not for her sake but for their own. “It kept getting kicked to the end of the schedule. It was like, ‘I’m so not ready for that; put that one off a little longer,’ ” Stewart recalled. “Every single day we were re-writing it. I still need to frame that thing — laminate it somehow and give it to Rupert [Sanders] the director — the different renditions of it. It’s disintegrating.” Co-star Claflin was quick to praise Stewart for her performance in the movie’s pivotal moment. “The girl was wearing no shoes in the coldest day of English history and was wearing, like, a nightie,” Claflin said. “I don’t know how she did it, honestly. Man power. Woman power. Girl power … she did a smashing job on that.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Andy Samberg Thinks Russell Brand Will ‘Kill It’ At Movie Awards

‘It’s going to be a real stretch from the VMAs,’ Samberg joked about Brand hosting the Movie Awards, airing Sunday at 9 p.m. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Andy Samberg Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — We already have a good idea of how the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , but will the rest of his show be up to snuff? This will be the two-time Video Music Awards emcee’s first stint , and we’re hoping he will live up to his previous performances. During the , MTV News turned to former Movie Awards host Andy Samberg to hear his prediction on Brand’s hosting prowess. Samberg said that it probably wouldn’t be too different from Brand’s other times hosting MTV awards shows. “It’s going to be a real stretch from the VMAs,” he joked. “What’s he going to do? I just wonder if in the beginning he’s going to have some short film about how he’s got to make it to the Movie Awards in time. Is he going to make it? He’s in this film, how’s he going to make it? Every host seems to have this problem,” Samberg continued sarcastically. It’s true, we’ve seen a host or 10 do that familiar sketch in the past, though Samberg managed to avoid falling into that trap with his hilarious spoof on “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Reader,” “Twilight” and “Star Trek” during his hosting gig. We’re sure Brand also has something different up his sleeve this year, and Samberg seemed to genuinely be looking forward to seeing what madness the Brit will concoct. “So many ingredients in a Movie Awards stew. I mean, celebs, spoofs, great performances,” he said. But the key ingredient? “A great host. That’s going to kill it, man. Russell’s hilarious.” Samberg took some time to reminisce on his own year hosting the Movie Awards, which apparently earned him $5 (well, in addition to whatever his salary was). Since he hosted back in 2009 — the first year “Twilight” was a nominee — Samberg said he was a little overwhelmed by the fan hysteria. “My year was like the first year of ‘Twilight,’ so you couldn’t hear anything. It was just a din of screaming girls,” he said. “At one point, I walked out and I had a bet with somebody backstage and I just went, ‘Twilight,’ and everyone went, ‘Wahh!’ and I was like, I just made five bucks.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Russell Brand Has Free Reign As Movie Awards Host

‘There is no yelling at Russell,’ executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic tells MTV News about the host’s big night. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz and Jim Cantiello Russell Brand Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Russell Brand is like John Locke : Nobody tells him what he can and can’t do. When the British actor and comedian steps onto the Gibson Amphitheatre’s stage Sunday night as host of the MTV Movie Awards , he’ll be able to do literally whatever he wants — he just might get yelled at about it later. Speaking with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz ahead of his Movie Awards appearance, Brand was asked if there are any restrictions on what he can or cannot do, what he can or cannot say, come the big evening. According to the man himself, the answer is a resounding “no,” but that doesn’t mean there isn’t the threat of consequences looming over his head. “[The producers] just go, ‘Do whatever you want!’ And then one hour later they’ll say, ‘You shouldn’t have done that,’ ” he said with all the signature energy that Brand’s become known for. “It’s a weird technique!” But the producers behind the Movie Awards tell a very different tale. When Jim Cantiello spoke with executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, it became clear that Russell’s capacity to do hilariously bad things onstage is not just limitless, but endorsed by the folks behind the scenes. “No, that’s wrong,” Ignjatovic said when asked if Brand is going to get scolded if he pushes things too far. “There’s no yelling at Russell. It’s all love. The show ends, we go and we hug him, and we tell him it’s great. It’s all love.” Russell, we sure do hope you’re reading this — if you’re to take Mr. Ignjatovic’s words as gospel, then you just might be able to fulfill your greatest wishes come Sunday evening’s end. “MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards,” Brand said when he was initially announced for the hosting gig. “If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.” So, yeah — we’re not trying to say you can turn this into the MTV Group Sex Awards you’ve dreamed of, Russell, but we might be trying to say that. Julianne Hough’s Daniel Radcliffe Love Note: ‘I Never Heard Back!’

As ‘Harry Potter’ casts its final spell at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, the ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ extra recalls her childhood crush. By Amy Wilkinson Julianne Hough Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Here’s a, perhaps, little-known fact about “Rock of Ages” star Julianne Hough: Before she was tango-ing on “Dancing With the Stars” or kicking off her Sunday shoes in “Footloose,” the actress was a member of house Gryffindor at Hogwarts. That’s right — Hough, along with brother Derek — was an extra on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” way back in 2001. So when we caught up with the 23-year-old and her “Rock of Ages” co-star Diego Boneta at the junket for their movie musical (out June 15), we had to ask what she thought the franchise’s chances were at its final MTV Movie Awards . The magical movie is up for seven nominations, including Movie of the Year, Best Male Performance (Daniel Radcliffe), Best Female Performance (Emma Watson), Best Cast, Best Fight (Daniel Radcliffe and Ralph Fiennes), Best Kiss (Rupert Grint and Emma Watson) and Best Hero (Daniel Radcliffe). But instead of weighing in on the flick’s odds, Hough had a special message for Radcliffe: “Well, I just want to say really quickly: Daniel, I gave you a love note during ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone,’ and I never heard back,” Hough said with a laugh, as co-star Boneta looked on dumbfounded. “I didn’t know that!” he exclaimed of her early film role. “I was in the first one, and you can see me twice,” Hough said. “I was Gryffindor.” If only Hough had been sorted into Ravenclaw like Cho Chang, perhaps, then, she could have captured Radcliffe’s heart. ‘Avengers’: Blockbuster Gets Bad News For A Change

In this special Movie Awards ‘After Hours’ clip, Clark Gregg goes from smiling to the fetal position. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Clark Gregg in “The Avengers” Photo: Marvel/Disney UNIVERSAL CITY, California — “The Avengers” is now the third-highest-grossing movie in the world. Most likely everyone involved with the mammoth Marvel superhero production is feeling pretty good about all of the success, right? Well, in this special Movie Awards “After Hours” clip, our own Josh Horowitz managed to bring actor Clark Gregg down. As if getting offed as Agent Coulson wasn’t bad enough (whether he’ll return as the Vision or in some other incarnation remains to be seen), Gregg was forced to confront a collection of sobering figures Josh delivered that drew a stark contrast with all the good “Avengers” news. Sure, the Avengers” was the fastest movie to ever pass $500 million. Yes, “The Avengers” was loved by more than 90 percent of critics. It’s taken in $1.3 billion around the world. But, as Clark learned during “After Hours,” people in Portugal hate him. No, really, they do. And Uruguay? Sheesh … Whether Gregg will fulfill fan dreams by returning to the franchise as the Vision (or in some other incarnation) remains to be seen, but this “After Hours” clip certainly gave him plenty to contemplate, as you’ll see. You’d be shaken up too if you learned 70 billion people would like to see you dead. Watch as Gregg was reduced to a low whisper, stammering for the right words, a shell of the man who happily smiled at the start and even corrected our “After Hours” host about the opening weekend at first. “Two-hundred-and-seven [million] — just what I heard,” he helpfully admonished. “If we’re doing the numbers, Josh.” If fans want to support their favorite Avengers at Sunday’s 2012 MTV Movie Awards , Captain America and Thor are facing off in the Best Hero category — but they’ve got some stiff competition in the form of Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen and “21 Jump Street” cop Jenko. Will ‘Magic Mike’ Cast Strip At MTV Movie Awards?

Movie’s co-stars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey will be sitting front and center at the Movie Awards on Sunday night. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike” Photo: Warner Bros. UNIVERSAL CITY, California — We’d be lying if we said that we weren’t looking forward to a surprise striptease from the cast of “Magic Mike” during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night. Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and the rest of the cast are going to be sitting front and center in the audience, so it would be a prime location for them to get up and start grinding among the likes of Kristen Stewart and Emma Watson. Fortunately, Movie Awards executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic has a backup plan in case the guys do decide to get their groove on during the show, which airs live tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET. It just might not be a plan that viewers at home are big fans of. “We go to the big wide shot that’s facing out the door,” he said with a laugh when asked what he’d do if the “Magic Mike” gang started to get naked. Boo to that! Fortunately those men aren’t the only ones in attendance who are famous for getting naked on the big screen. Michael Fassbender will also be gracing the Movie Awards audience, and Ignjatovic said that there’s a (very slim) chance he could try some stripping too. At the same time, we might not even want to see Tatum and his castmembers show off their rocking bods during the Movie Awards, because they might not be so rocking anymore. Tatum teased during our that the pre-shoot regimen for the movie was much more strenuous than what came after. “I think pre-movie is pretty intense because to get butt naked, you have to — there’s a different regimen for getting butt naked, but thank god, it was a short shoot,” Tatum said with a sly grin. “Then we just had fun on the day.” Somehow we doubt the men have let themselves go in the time since, but we’ll use that as our excuse in case we don’t get the Movie Awards all-male striptease we so desire. Pusha T’s Making ‘Superhero’ Music, The-Dream Teases

‘We just need him to be this guy for us right now, because I need that music in my car,’ Dream tells MTV News of Push’s album. By Nadeska Alexis with reporting by Rahman Dukes The-Dream and Pusha T Photo: MTV News Pusha T is still surprised that his opportunity to drop a solo album came around so quickly. But since he has the chance, the Clipse rapper and G.O.O.D. Music signee has immersed himself in a new learning experience with Kanye West and The-Dream, one he’s confident will result in a classic LP. Between the mad genius that is Kanye and the R&B storyteller that is The-Dream, Pusha might’ve just hit the production jackpot. “I’ve learned so much about song structure from Dream and I’ve learned so much from ‘Ye about finding the most colorful parts of your rhymes, editing it down and making sure, like, all the best parts of the rhyme are right in your face,” he told MTV News during a studio session with Mr. Terius Nash in Atlanta. “I’ve just totally taken this [attitude of] sitting back and absorbing everything they say.” After just a few sessions with Dream, Pusha said he has learned to accept the creative criticism as a tool to push further. “Sometimes [a track is] wrong. Sometimes it’s over-rapped and [The-Dream] will tell you, ‘Nah, stay right here. Stay within these lines, in these perimeters right here.’ This sh– is school, man; it’s real live school to me.” What might be school for Pusha, however, is just another spiritual experience for The-Dream, who’s infamous for crafting engrossing narrative across his projects. “It’s [being] spiritual about it and I think it’s just a timing thing,” The-Dream explained of how he builds the perfect songs. “It has a lot to do with what we want to hear, so it wasn’t [like I wouldn’t] allow Pusha to get off on rapping. We just need [him] to be this guy for us right now, because I need that music in my car. I’m R&B, but I grew up on Bankhead and I was riding around with UGK in my car, so I know what that real sh– is. I know how it makes you feel like a superhero.” “I want to feel like I’m literally beating my chest out the car,” he added. “You look over in my car — I’m mean-mugging you, you mean-mugging me, and I got Pusha in my deck. That’s how I want to feel. And so I was just providing that feeling, I just wanted to capture it in each song. We need [him] to say this because [he’s] talented enough to do it.” Thus far, we know that a few titles on the album will tentatively include “40 Acres” and “Automatic.” But Pusha, who recently dropped the fiery “Exodus 23:1,” is sure that the entire project will be cohesive and, of course, classic. “At the end of the day, we’re trying to make classic material,” he said. “Everybody who’s here is tuned into this project — period. It’s about being cohesive, and cohesive musicality is just not happening right now.” Since Pusha and The-Dream are hitting it off so well on this album, we asked if we might expect any future collaborations? “Man, I called him about the next album, already,” Pusha said without hesitation. And to that, The-Dream said with a laugh, “We will grow old together.” Are you excited for Pusha’s solo album? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Pusha T The-Dream

Channing Tatum And Matthew McConaughey: Can You Tell Their Abs Apart?

‘Magic Mike’ stars debut exclusive clip, talk about getting ‘butt naked’ during MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Channing Tatum in “Magic Mike” Photo: Warner Bros. UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Moviegoers are seeing a lot of Channing Tatum in 2012, thanks to a trio of starring film roles, but they’ll see a whole new side of the actor when his upcoming stripper flick ” Magic Mike ” debuts June 29. And, yes, we are talking about his backside. Tatum, along with co-star Matthew McConaughey and producer-screenwriter Reid Carolin, took to the Universal Studios CityWalk stage Thursday night to debut an exclusive clip from the Steven Soderbergh-directed film and talk about taking it all off during our Sneak Peek Week festivities leading up to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, June 3. Both actors are clearly comfortable taking their shirts off. In fact, MTV News’ Josh Horowitz administered a shirtless guessing game to the pair — which they both aced, by the way (watch in the embedded video). Therefore, taking the next logical step and shimmying in a thong wasn’t too difficult, both agreed, though it did require ample preparation. “I think pre-movie is pretty intense because to get butt naked, you have to — there’s a different regimen for getting butt naked, but thank god, it was a short shoot,” Tatum said with a sly grin. “Then we just had fun on the day.” One could hardly blame Tatum or any of his fellow stripping stars for having reservations once the cameras began rolling, but the actor assured us that the entire cast, including Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer, were total pros. “These guys have never stripped before, and I remember the first day of rehearsals,” Tatum recalled, “I looked at all the guys, and we went through our stuff, and I was like, ‘All right. It’s time to get naked, boys.’ And it was hilarious that none of them really balked.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now!
