Demi Moore Returns to Los Angeles

The reports are true: Demi Moore is out of rehab and now safely back in Los Angeles. TMZ was the first site to post a photo of the actress touching down in California yesterday, as she was spotted exiting a plan, donning a white top and shorts and looking healthier than she has in weeks. The actress left rehab in Utah last week and reportedly took off with close friend Eric Buterbaugh for Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos. It’s unclear what the future holds for Moore, both personally and professionally, as she dropped out of a Linda Lovelace biopic shortly after being rushed to the hospital on January 23. “She knows she’s in a bad place and needs help,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She needed something serious to get her back on track.”

The Side-Eye: “Money Makin” Mitt Romney Accuses President Obama Of Political Corruption In The Auto-Industry Bail Outs!

The nerve of this muhfugga!! Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney on Sunday defended both his wealth and the number of cars he owns during an awkward exchange with Fox News’ Chris Wallace. Wallace asked the former Massachusetts governor whether his recent statement that his wife “drives a couple of Cadillacs” was out-of-touch with the economic realities facing most American families. Romney responded with a reference to the different states in which his cars are located, and suggested that only President Barack Obama’s supporters would begrudge him his automobile affluence. “I can’t be perfect, I just am who I am and I can tell you this with regards to the cars, that was talked about last September and us, what vehicles we own, we have a car in California, we have a car in Boston,” Romney said. “And so that’s the way it is. If people think that there is something wrong for being successful, they should vote for the other guy. I have been successful.” Romney also accused Obama of corruption, suggesting that the government assistance provided to General Motors and Chrysler was motivated by political patronage rather than economic substance. “We spent several billion dollars at a time we didn’t need to,” Romney said, claiming that Obama “gave a huge portion of the company to the UAW [United Auto Workers]. That’s not how bankruptcy usually works … He was paying off the people that supported him, and by the way, are trying to get him reelected.” We can’t wait to see this fool’s face if Barry O gets re-elected. ‘American Idol’ Reveals Season 11 Top 24

But in a twist, it’s announced that one of four eliminated contestants will be welcomed back next week for the first Top 25. By Adam Graham Ryan Seacrest with the top 24 of “American Idol” Photo: Fox “American Idol” revealed its final 10 semifinalists Thursday (February 23), rounding out the Top 24 that will compete for America’s votes during season 11’s live episodes, which begin next week. The remaining 10 contestants were chosen from the pool of 42 sent to Las Vegas to compete for the chance to perform on the live shows. The first 14 , including Heejun Han ( Heejun Han! ), were unveiled during Wednesday’s episode. Thursday’s show picked up with the cliffhanger from Wednesday, regarding the fate of 27-year-old Adam Brock. The teary-eyed Brock made it, of course; “American Idol” can be cruel (see last week’s brutal “Gotcha!” twist), but it’s not cruel enough to let a contestant hang in the balance for a full day and then not let him through. Especially one with a cute little girl at home. The toughest cut Thursday was the one dealt to Jermaine Jones, the 25-year-old baritone-voiced “gentle giant” who took the news very hard, nearly collapsing in tears. Most shocking was the elimination of David Leathers Jr., the would-be heartthrob nicknamed “Mr. Steal Your Girl” who was thought early on to be one of the contestants to beat, despite the fact that the bow-tied 17-year-old looked like he was 12. But in a shocking final twist — “GOTCHA!” — it was revealed at the end of the episode that either Leathers, Jones, Richie Law or Johnny Keyser will return next week to join the show, making it a Top 25. Isn’t “Idol” fun? Here is the full list of the season’s Top 24 contestants:

Quote Of The Day: Fired “Chink In The Armor” ESPN Employee Says His Wife Is Asian

This should be all the more reason why he should have NOT said that ish about Jeremy Lin in the first place: An ESPN anchor suspended for using a racially-loaded term in reference to Knicks phenom Jeremy Lin defended himself on Twitter today, as the network sacked another employee for using the phrase in a headline on its website. “My wife is Asian, would never intentionally say anything to disrespect her and that community,” Anchor Max Bretos tweeted. “Wanted 2 apologize 2 all those I have upset. Not done with any racial reference. Despite intention, phrase was inappropriate in this context.” That phrase was “Chink in the armor,” a term Bretos used on air following Lin’s poor performance during the Knicks’ loss to the lowly New Orleans Hornets Friday. Bretos was suspended 30 days, and a writer who used the same phrase in a headline on ESPN’s mobile site was fired; The network did not release that employee’s name. While it can refer to a weakness, the phrase is also a racial slur against Asians. Lin, a California native of Chinese descent, is the first Asian-American to start an NBA game and has become an international sensation since the previously-unknown player exploded off the bench and led the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak. “I don’t think it was on purpose or whatever, but (at) the same time they have apologized. And so from my end I don’t care anymore,” Lin said after leading the Knicks to a 104-97 win over Dallas today. “Have to learn to forgive, and I don’t even think that was intentional. Or hopefully not.” ESPN called the phrase “offensive and inappropriate” in a statement today. “We again apologize, especially to Mr. Lin,” ESPN wrote. “His accomplishments are a source of great pride to the Asian-American community, including the Asian-American employees at ESPN. Through self-examination, improved editorial practices and controls, and response to constructive criticism, we will be better in the future.” SMH. He’s photographed above with his half-Asian baby. Green Day Start Recording New Album

Band hits the studio on Valentine’s Day to begin sessions for follow-up to 2009’s 21st Century Breakdown. By James Montgomery Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News While you were wasting time with flowers, candy and/or restraining orders on Valentine’s Day, Green Day were getting down to business, beginning sessions for a brand-new album. That’s according to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who broke the news (and a four-month Twitter hiatus) on his personal account Tuesday — and coined a rather amazing euphemism for recording in the process. “Happy Valentine’s Day!” he tweeted . “Officially started recording the new record today. It’s F— TIME!!!!” Yes, we’re aware “It’s F— Time” is also a song by Green Day’s side-project, the Foxboro Hot Tubs , though it works well in the recording context too, so we’re sticking with it. No word on just who Green Day have brought in to helm said f— time (an email to their publicist was not responded to by press time), but the sessions will bring forth the first studio album since the band’s 2009 effort 21st Century Breakdown. Last year, they played a secret show in California that included a reported 15 new songs, though it’s not known if those songs will make the new album. Of course, as any Green Day fan will surely tell you, Valentine’s Day also holds a rather significant place in the band’s lore: In 2003, the band recorded an entire album called Cigarettes and Valentines, though the master tapes were supposedly stolen, and the band decided to scrap the project in favor of the album that would reinvigorate their career: American Idiot. During the band’s 21st Century Breakdown world tour, they began working the title track from that lost album into their set list, and it made the cut for the 2011 live album, Awesome as F—. And with that, we’ve officially set a new record for most uses of the F-word in an MTV News story. History in the making, people! Are you excited for new Green Day music? Let us know in the comments! Kobe and Vanessa Bryant: Getting Back Together?!

Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa Bryant just split, but are already working on a reconciliation, according to reports… and photos of them kissing (on TMZ). Vanessa showed up for the Lakers’ win over the Atlanta Hawks last night, and the couple shared a kiss in the tunnel on the way into the locker room. Love was apparently in the air for the ex-spouses on Valentine’s Day! Vanessa filed for divorce in December, and they already sealed a property settlement deal in which she got all three of their homes and $75 million . The pair married over a decade ago and have two little girls (above). However, Kobe has been trying to win her back ever since the split, and the divorce is not final, so there’s more than a glimmer of hope for the pair. While Kobe and Vanessa Bryant submitted all the necessary papers to divorce, it doesn’t become finalized until mid-June – six months under California law. There’s plenty of time to withdraw the papers, and it looks like things are trending that way, though Kobe and Vanessa are NOT living together … yet. [Photo: WENN.com]

Whitney Houston’s Death Now Part Of Beverly Hilton’s History

The hotel has been a celebrity hot spot ever since it opened in 1955, hosting scores of red-carpet events every year. By Kara Warner The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles Photo: Splash News Despite the fact that the Beverly Hilton is currently in the news for being the site of Whitney Houston’s tragic death , the historic hotel has been making headlines for 57 years — the vast majority of those being positive news stories — ever since its opening in 1955. The Who’s Who in Hollywood hot spot has played host to the most A-list guests and star-studded events for nearly six decades by holding more than 175 red-carpet events annually. The Hotel’s first major event was coincidentally the first-ever Grammy Awards in 1959. Best Female Vocalist Ella Fitzgerald took home two awards that year, along with Domenico Modugno, Henry Mancini, and Ross Bagdasarian (made famous by “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)”). In July 1960, then-presidential hopeful John F. Kennedy held a gala fundraiser for which his friend Frank Sinatra helped gather the “Jack Pack,” a group of celebs that included Milton Berle, Janet Leigh, Tony Curtis, Judy Garland and Mort Sahl. The Hilton was host to the first-ever Golden Globe Awards in 1961, where Stanley Kubrick’s “Spartacus” took home the top prize of Best Picture. The Globes returned to the hotel in 1971 and have not left. The annual event draws an international audience of millions, in addition to the ceremony itself, multiple viewing parties and afterparties, all staged at the Hilton. Other notable events include Richard Nixon’s so-called final press conference in 1962 following his loss to Pat Brown in the California gubernatorial election. The hotel hosted the one-time-only tribute to screen legend Cary Grant in 1988, which raised funds for Grace Kelley’s Princess Grace Foundation. In 2004, former First Lady Nancy Reagan made major news by speaking out against the Republican Party and publicly announcing her support for stem-cell research while being honored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Also for the past thirty years, the Hilton has hosted the prestigious Oscars nominee luncheon. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page.
