Kate Middleton is really spicing things up during her pregnancy, and we’re not talking about those leaked bikini photos that caused such a stir this winter. Like many moms-to-be, the Duchess of Cambridge has been craving spicy foods, and luckily for her, a friendly couple in her parents’ village has been obliging. During an April visit to see her parents in Upper Bucklebury, Berkshire, Prince William’s wife stopped by a convenience shop owned by Hash and Chan Shingadia. There, Kate Middleton revealed her craving for homemade curry. “My wife made her curry a little while ago which she enjoyed,” the shop owner said. “I think she came in one day and my wife was cooking upstairs.” “She said it smelled lovely, so we gave her some to take away.” While many people enjoy a lamb or chicken curry recipe , that wasn’t what the pregnant royal walked away with in this case, according to the owner. Chan said, “I’m vegetarian, so I only cook vegetarian curry.” The Indian staple is certainly flexible in that sense – there are countless vegetarian recipes for it as well as many involving various meat options. In any case, it’s probably only an occasional thing for her. Middleton, no doubt, has been indulging her food cravings in moderation, as too much spicy food can often cause heartburn in pregnant women.
Armed with explosives and guns, the Boston Marathon bombing suspects battled law enforcement officers in a Boston suburb early Friday morning. The two men unleashed chaos and killed an MIT campus officer before police took one of the men into custody and the other fled, officials said. The suspect taken into custody later died. Officials identified the man on the run as the “white-hat” suspect, referring to the photos released by the FBI Thursday. Authorities warned he should be considered armed and dangerous. The standoff with the suspects in Watertown, Mass., erupted after the fatal shooting of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer. A transit police officer was also wounded in the Watertown firefight. Officials in Watertown were warning residents to “stay in their homes and not open their doors unless a police officer is there,” according to reports. “There is a terrorist on the loose,” said one officer at an impromptu press conference at about 4:30 a.m. Friday morning, after the intense battle. The suspect at large is believed to be the man who physically placed the bags containing the homemade bombs which killed 3 and injured 170 on Monday. He is described as “dressed in a grey hoodie, light skinned male, brown curly hair,” with international links and having been in the country legally a year. The suspects approached the MIT officer and shot him in head, sources said, then stole the MIT officer’s cruiser, robbed a nearby 7-11 and carjacked a Mercedes. They briefly kidnapped the driver of the SUV, and the suspects threw explosives out the window of the moving car in what was a harrowing and chaotic scene. The dead suspect had an improvised explosive device strapped to his chest and law enforcement sources warned that the suspect on the run may as well. The intense situation in Watertown followed an hours-long lockdown at MIT, where the campus police officer was shot and killed while investigating. A disturbance was reported on the Cambridge campus. It is not clear exactly what, but the suspects are believed to have killed the MIT officer and fled. Even as police swept the campus, there were reports of a violent car chase and then an extremely heavy police presence in Watertown, four miles away. The events began unfolding with reports of shots fired on the MIT campus at 10:48 p.m. ET, and the situation remained “active and extremely dangerous” for hours. It was later reported that a campus officer had been killed. Watertown resident Andrew Kitzenberg described the police shootout outside his house that followed when officials tracked down the Boston bombing suspects . “They engaged in gunfire for a few minutes,” he told NBC News. “They were also utilizing bombs, which sounded and looked like grenades, [during] the gunfight.” “They also had what looked like a pressure-cooker bomb.” Kitzenberg said two people took cover between a black Mercedes SUV and a sedan, and began shooting 70 or 80 yards toward six Watertown police vehicles. “It was a firefight,” the witness added. “There was a long exchange of gunfire.” One of the shooters then ran toward the cops, while the other got into the SUV. The person on foot later fell to the ground, either tackled or shot. The other drove the SUV through the line of police cars at the end of the street, he added. Kitzenberg said that while he had a “very clear view of the shooters,” he couldn’t see their faces but described them as “average size, average height.” Story developing … UPDATE : The two bombing suspects are brothers, aged 19 and 20, and legal permanent U.S. residents of Chechen origin, law enforcement sources say.

Patrick Carney is certainly making the most of his time as Justin Bieber’s foil. The Black Keys drummer started a feud with the young star last week when he implied Bieber makes bad music, but should be happy because he’s rich. Justin, in turn, said Carney should be slapped . Kate Middleton is understandably nervous about giving birth to her first child … which pretty much proves she’s not a personality-less breeder , right? The Duchess of Cambridge spoke frankly with fellow expectant moms during a visit to London’s Hope House, Action on Addiction on Tuesday. In Middleton’s first official event following her babymoon in Mustique, she talked about her pregnancy with two recovering women in an art therapy class. One woman at the rehabilitation center, 28-year-old Natalie, is currently expecting her second child, which is due this July, like Prince William’s wife. “She was saying she had been unwell but is feeling better now and I have been about the same. We were all talking about children ,” said Natalie of their chat. Recovering alcoholic Lisa, a mother of three, asked Middleton the obvious. “I asked her if she was nervous about having a child and she said ‘it would be unnatural if I wasn’t. It’s just human, isn’t it?'” Lisa told reporters of her chat. Needless to say, Kate Middleton and her baby bump won them over. “I said congratulations and good luck and I hope it all goes okay. And she smiled. It was that nice she just chatted to us,” said another woman she met with.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have some pretty nice digs on their “babymoon” – and are intent on keeping a low profile – in the idyllic island of Mustique. Expecting their first baby in July, Prince William and Kate Middleton are staying at a five-bedroom villa set in lush gardens, which costs $25,000 a week: Also enjoying paradise? William’s in-laws! Kate’s parents Carole and Mike and siblings James and Pippa Middleton all came along for some rest and relaxation. As for their babymoon privacy concerns? But on this visit, the couple are mostly keeping to themselves, and they have good reason. With a staff of six (including a private chef on standby), a 60-foot infinity pool and a media room and guest cottage, their luxury villa has everything they need. It’s also completely hidden from view if you’re on the main road of the island, with just the tips of the pitched roof line visible from the beach down below. No more Kate Middleton topless photos , in other words. Phew. When they do venture out, the stunning beach, which many believe to be the finest on the Caribbean island, is just a short walk down a private path from the house. On past trips the duo has made many a trip down that path to stroll on the beach, take quick dips in the ocean and also to snorkel out past the rocky cove. The beach is still public however, and the couple save their sunbathing for the villa’s expansive pool deck … again, for obvious reasons after their French holiday. From the lounge chairs, pregnant Kate can look along the surface of an infinity pool and out to the other islands of the Grenadines spread out in the ocean below. Mustique, a favorite of the Middletons for years, “is locked-down … that always means some royalty is here ,” according to a source. Sounds like they’ve got it covered. It wasn’t always this low-key for the royals. On previous visits, William has stopped by for a drink and to play the piano at the bar at Firefly, and the couple even participated on Sunday karaoke night … seriously.
