In Salty White Folks News: Mitt Romney Says “It Kills Me” Not To Be POTUS, Compares Obama To Roman Emperor Nero

Sir, it’s over, you lost, quit yer b!tc#in’ Mitt Romney Still Mudslinging At President Barack Obama Via NYDailyNews Mitt Romney admits he bungled his bid for the White House — but he hasn’t stopped tossing campaign-style mud at President Obama. In his first TV interview since his Election Day defeat, Romney criticized Obama for “berating Republicans and blaming and pointing” rather than leading the way to a compromise over $85 billion in across-the-board budget cuts that took effect Friday. “Nero is fiddling,” Romney said in a taped interview for “Fox News Sunday,” comparing his former rival to the evil Roman emperor who legendarily played his fiddle as Rome burned. In the Fox spot, in which his wife Ann also fielded questions from host Chris Wallace, Romney copped to numerous failures during his campaign. Those included his inability to effectively appeal to Latino and black voters, and shooting himself in the foot by calling “47%” of the country moochers. Just as he did on the campaign trail, the former private-equity superstar suggested that if he were calling the shots in the Oval Office, he would be doing a better job of working to end the fiscal gridlock on Capitol Hill. “I look at what’s happening right now, I wish I were there,” he said, referring to the partisan-fueled impasse that prevented lawmakers from reaching a deal to reconsider the automatic cuts to domestic and defense spending, known as the sequester. “It kills me not to be there, not to be in the White House doing what needs to be done.” Awwww poor thang…FOH Image via AP

Jack the Giant Slayer Wins Box Office, Fails to Slay

Jack may have slayed a giant, and even come out on top of this weekend’s box office, but he still anchored the first dud of 2013. Indeed, Jack the Giant Slayer earned $28 million on Friday and Saturday, but the big budget fantasy adventure was made for over $150 million and will not come anywhere close to recouping that investment. It was an especially weak weekend overall for Hollywood, as Ed Harris and David Duchovny anchored an historically terrible Phantom . That drama was made for $18 million and opened to $465,000 on 1,100 screens. Total. Here’s a look at the top five: Jack the Giant Slayer – $28 million Identity Thief – $9.7 million 21 and Over – $9 million The Last Exorcism Part II – $8 million Snitch – $7.7 million

Ann Romney on Husband’s Presidential Loss: Blame the Media!

In his first extensive interview since losing the Presidential election to Barack Obama, Mitt Romney told Chris Matthews this morning that he only has himself to blame for not taking the White House. “I lost my election because of my campaign,” Romney said on Fox News Sunday . “Not because of what anyone else did.” Mitt Romney on Fox News Sunday Romney cited his failure to win over African-American and Hispanic voters, while also zeroing in on his ” 47 percent ” comments as being detrimental to his bid. Admitting that it “kills” him not to be President, Romney also had a few choice words for the man who is: “He didn’t think the sequester would happen,” he said. “It is happening. To date, what we’ve seen is the president out campaigning to the American people, doing rallies around the country, flying around the country and berating Republicans and blaming and pointing. “Now, what does that do? That causes the Republicans to retrench and to put up a wall and to fight back.” Ann Romney, meanwhile, was not as deferential about the basis for her husband’s defeat. She squarely pointed a finger at the fourth estate. “It was not just the campaign’s fault,” Ann told Fox News. “I believe it was the media’s fault as well, in that he was not being given a fair shake, that people weren’t allowed to really see him for who he was. I’m happy to blame the media.” She then concluded by focusing on the same current issue plaguing the government: “I totally believe at this moment, if Mitt were there in the office, that we would not be facing sequestration right now.”

Laura Bush Removed from Pro-Gay Marriage Ad

Laura Bush has asked The Respect for Marriage Coalition, which kicked off a $1 million media campaign yesterday, to remove her from an ad that features her support of gay marriage. The spot quotes a number of famous individuals who are behind its cause, including a clip of Bush speaking with Larry King in 2010 and telling the host: “When couples are committed to each other and love each other, then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has.” Respect for Marriage Coalition Ad In response, spokeswoman Anne MacDonald says the former First Lady “did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated with the group that made the ad in any way.” And the organization has honored Bush’s request, removing her from the campaign and telling Politico: “The ad launched a public education campaign that will now move to new and different voices that reflect the depth and breadth of our support.” A second ad for the campaign – featuring a Republican military veteran named Craig Stowell – will start running over the weekend.

Elizabeth Colbert Busch, Sister of Stephen, Running For Congress in South Carolina

Elizabeth Colbert Busch, sister of Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert, is running for a vacant seat in U.S. Congress from their native South Carolina. Colbert Busch is one of two Democrats seeking the seat vacated by Republican Tim Scott, who was appointed to fill the state’s U.S. Senate seat. The resignation of Sen. Jim DeMint led to Scott’s promotion by Gov. Nikki Haley, and a subsequent special election to fill Scott’s seat in the U.S. House. Colbert Bush’s first opponent is Ben Frasier in the Democratic primary March 19. There are said to be as many as a dozen candidates on the GOP side. As for whether her famous brother will aid or hamper her campaign? “I’m not worried. I’m so proud of what he is and what he has accomplished,” Elizabeth told reporters from her campaign office in Charleston, S.C. “But when people see what I have done and they know the work we have done and they know me as a person and a professional, it will be fine.” Stephen Colbert said he plans to support his sister, whom the family calls Lulu, but won’t make mention of her on The Colbert Report … well, probably. “Lulu has a job to do, and that’s run for Congress. I have a job to do and that’s to make jokes,” he said. “I would never use my show to get my sister elected.” “But the fact my sister is running, or that Mark Sanford is running or Teddy Turner is running or Chip Limehouse, who I knew when I was younger, is running …” “Those are all opportunities for my character to make jokes. But I want people to know this is her own thing. It’s not me doing anything,” he says. Mark Sanford is the former South Carolina governor trying to make a comeback after an affair with Maria Belen Chapur derailed his political career. Turner is the son of media magnate Ted Turner. Limehouse, a state representative, is also considered a strong contender for the 1st District seat. The odds are steep for Stephen’s sister in this Republican-leaning state, but she “This is a privilege to be able to do this,” Colbert Busch said. “My gut is telling me, ‘you’re never going to get this opportunity again.’ And you don’t want to turn around as an old woman and say I didn’t try.” She said her desire for public service was forged in her youth and tempered by her life experiences of loss, struggle and professional success. In 1974, Colbert Busch’s father and three of her other brothers – her parents had 11 children, including Elizabeth and Stephen – died in a plane crash. The politically-active Colbert Busch once worked in Washington, D.C., as an intern for then-U.S. Senator Ernest “Fritz” Hollings (D-SC). Starting as a data entry clerk, she worked her way up to become Southeast director of sales and manager for Orient Overseas Container lines. She is now on a leave of absence from her position as the director of business development for Clemson University’s Wind Turbine Drive Testing Facility.

Out Of Pocket: Jesse Jackson Jr. Spent $43,000 On Rolex And $4,600 On Michael Jackson Fedora With Fraud Campaign Money

Wait, what?!?!? Jesse Jackson Jr Bought Rolex And Michael Jackson Fedora With Campaign Money Via NYDailyNews Former Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. used $750,000 in campaign funds to buy personal items ranging from a $43,000 gold Rolex watch to a $4,600 fedora worn by Michael Jackson, the Justice Department charged Friday. Federal prosecutors slapped the one-time rising political star with fraud and conspiracy charges as they revealed the stunning allegations of misspending. In an affidavit, prosecutors said Jackson used his campaign kitty to buy everything from a $5,000 football signed by U.S. presidents, furs and a cashmere cape to memorabilia related to Bruce Lee and Jimi Hendrix. Jackson, the son of the famous civil rights leader, is expected to plead guilty, one of his lawyers said. “Over the course of my life I have come to realize that none of us are immune from our share of shortcomings and human frailties,” Jackson said in a statement. “Still I offer no excuses for my conduct and I fully accept my responsibility for the improper decisions and mistakes I have made.” The ex-Congressman isn’t the only one gettin’ thrown under the bus, his wife has some ‘splainin’ to do to! Jackson’s wife, campaign aide and former Chicago Alderwoman Sandra Stevens Jackson, was also charged Friday — with low-balling her income on federal tax returns for five years. She also will plead guilty, lawyers said. We just can’t understand how the hell Jesse thought he was going to get away with this. We haven’t heard anything about a cover-up, or plans to disguise these outrageous purchases, it’s almost as if he said: “Fawk it, I’m fixin’ to ball out!” SMH Image via WENN

Adriana Lima In Sexy Daisy Dukes

It took long enough, but Adriana Lima finally took me up on my advice to head out in a pair of Daisy Dukes and show off her sweet MILF legs. Of course, it’s too little too late to qualify her for the MILF of the Year title, but hey, it’s never too early to kick off the campaign for 2013. And what better way to start than by taking a page out of Alessandra Ambrosio ‘s book? Let’s just hope Adriana keeps this up. After all, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Pure Comedy: Official Romney Vote Total For Presidential Election Was 47 Percent

Dear Mitt: Karma is a beyooooooootch! Official Presidential Election Vote Total For Mitt Romney Was 47 Perecent It turns out that Money Mitt’s math might have actually worked out after all….just not quite the way he planned. And ohhhh, the irony…. via THG Mitt Romney’s final vote total in the 2012 presidential election has been tallied, and the Republican challenger received – wait for it – 47 percent of the vote. Yes, it took this entire time to finalize it (you just didn’t hear about it because it wasn’t close), and Romney came in almost exactly at the 47 percent figure. 47.2 percent to be exact. Many will find the number appropriate and ironic, as Romney made waves when a secret video of him talking with donors surfaced late in the campaign season. In the 47 percent video, he said that segment of the country would never vote for him, because they’ve become dependent upon government programs. That Romney final vote is based on the percentage of all presidential votes he garnered in November, and it works out to 47.2 percent of all Americans. Quick! Somebody go get Mitt a glass of water to wash down that foot in his mouth.

Looks like his calculation was quite wrong, or at least backwards. On the plus side for Romney … 47.2 percent is more than 59,000,000 people. Also, if you excluded all third party candidates and looked at only Romney and President Barack Obama, the GOP challenger reached 48 percent. Not a terrible showing; John McCain won just 45.7 percent of the vote four years earlier. Still, don’t expect a third run from Mitt in the 2016 election .
