‘Avengers’ Star Chris Evans Dishes On Stan Lee Cameo

‘There are very few people I’ve met who have achieved so much and have still maintained this youthful excitement,’ Evans tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian Chris Evans Photo: MTV News For a while, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee was claiming his upcoming cameo in “The Amazing Spider-Man” would be his funniest big-screen turn yet in a series of appearances stretching back to his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role as a hot-dog vendor on the beach in 2000’s “X-Men.” But Spidey now has some serious competition, as Lee maintains his “Avengers” cameo gave him the opportunity to pop off “probably the funniest line that I’ve had to say yet.” The superhero he gets to deliver it to is Chris Evans’ Captain America, a nerdy triumph that had the actor pumping his fist in mock victory over his fellow Avengers and saying, “It’s great!” Like Lee, Evans wouldn’t reveal the details of the cameo — and, honestly, what would be the fun of knowing beforehand when and how the comic creator will appear? — but he did gush about working with Lee. “He’s an amazing human being,” Evans said while promoting his upcoming legal drama, “Puncture.” “The guy is a living legend. He’s so positive and so upbeat and so energetic and just a nice man. There are very few people I’ve met who have achieved so much and have still maintained this youthful excitement.” This wasn’t the first time the two men have shared the screen. Lee briefly popped up in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” as postman Willie Lumpkin opposite Evans as the Human Torch. “He’s so happy to do things,” Evans told us. “He’s so excited to live his life. He wakes up every day and he’s so excited to be Stan Lee. It’s a great thing that someone can hang on to that after years of dominating.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Which Movie Stars Can We ‘Blame’ For the Tumbling Stock Market?

Why do celebrities ring the New York Stock Exchange bell? Is it because they have a project to promote, a longtime fascination with the stock market, a complex fetish for percussion instruments and stressed-out traders in suits? Who knows! But a lot of celebrities have gotten to ring the opening bell the past few years, and thanks to a new article in The Atlantic , we now know which movie stars are responsible for kicking off the biggest drops in recent memory. Be forewarned: Captain America may be able to protect the country against Nazis but his mighty shield cannot protect the NYSE.

Who Are Captain America’s Biggest Foreign Box-Office Allies? [UPDATE]

Before Captain America: First Avenger was released in July, much was made about how the title — and title character in his red, white and blue — would play in foreign markets. VIDEO: Agent Coulson Bridges Marvel Gaps in One-Shot Short The Consultant

Here’s a treat for Marvel fans who live for the film-bridging post-credits scenes and cameos that have connected The Incredible Hulk , the Iron Man films, Thor , and Captain America : a short starring S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) that begins to fill in the space between the different Marvel films leading into The Avengers . After the jump, watch the deadpan Agent Coulson hatch a plan to dispatch a superhero code-named “The Consultant” — described as “arrogant and abrasive, with an utter disdain for authority.” Sound familiar?

Angelina Jolie to Scale Back Film Career?

Even Angelina Jolie can’t do it all. Between acting, directing, raising six kids and saving the world, she’s got a lot on her plate. As she gets older, the 36-year-old knows something has to give. What she’s likely to give up first is an easy call . The Oscar winner, whose directorial debut is in post-production, and who will be starring in a remake of the Elizabeth Taylor film Cleopatra , said: “As Brad and I get older we’re going to do fewer films. I’ve been working a long time, he’s been working a long time. We’ve had a nice run and don’t want to be doing this indefinitely, our whole lives. There are a lot of other things to do.” “You’re drawn to certain roles because they question something about life, about love, about freedom. You ask these questions as you grow up: am I strong enough, am I sane enough? Do I understand love, do I understand myself?” Jolie continues, “I’m older and I know who I am … and I’m less interested in the character helping me answer something … than in being able to answer it for myself, as a woman, as an adult, with my family.” For Angelina, answers that she once sought to find from her characters can now be found as she travels the world, taking her adopted children to their home countries and doing massive amounts of charity work. Of course, Jolie has said that same exact thing a number of times previously; she first mentioned it in 2006, and then again in 2008. Think she’ll really pull herself away?
