The Amazing Spider-Man doesn’t hit theaters until July 3 of next year, but the first trailer has been released, and should only fuel the buzz for the film. Originally, Spider-Man 4 was planned for release in summer 2011, but the film was cancelled due to director Sam Raimi’s withdrawal from the project. Sony, in turn, decided to reboot the big-name franchise with new director Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans leading the cast. All three shine in the official trailer preceding Captain America in theaters. Watch and comment below – do you think it can compare to the originals? The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
‘We do a really good job establishing a romance,’ Chris Evans offers as a reason female moviegoers should check out ‘The First Avenger.’ By Kara Warner Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell in “Captain America: The First Avenger” Photo: Paramount Pictures Generally speaking, a superhero or comic book-based movie can almost guarantee that its fervent fanboy following will show up at the box office come opening day. A more elusive audience to capture with these big, flashy blockbusters are female moviegoers. Not that women don’t love superhero movies or read comic books, of course, but they aren’t often a studio’s target audience. When MTV News caught up with the stars of “Captain America: The First Avenger” recently, we asked what their film has to offer the lady moviegoers who might not necessarily be as interested in the action and explosions as others. “I gotta be honest, [compared with] the majority of superhero movies that I’ve seen, I think we do a really good job establishing a romance,” Chris Evans, a.k.a. Cap himself, said. “It’s a budding romance, it’s early. Steve Rogers hasn’t had much experience with women, so the romance they establish is new and fresh, and it doesn’t really have a chance to develop,” he explained. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say everything else in the movie aside, the one thing I think they really did right was the romance.” Hayley Atwell, who plays Steve Rogers/ Captain America’s love interest Peggy Carter and is one of the only women in the film, agreed with Evans. “It’s got a strong, sincere love story running through it,” she said. “Captain America has a sincerity. He’s earnest, and there is a vulnerability about him. He’s not your typical testosterone-fueled man.” In addition to all the sincere romantic stuff, Sebastian Stan pointed out that there are some superficial reasons for ladies to like the film as well. “I feel like you can drive a car on Chris’ chest, so maybe that?” he said, speaking to Evans’ muscle-bound physique, post-superserum. “That might help.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Captain America: The First Avenger.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . She has seen the trailer, however, which she says is ‘pretty cool, but maybe I’m a little bit biased, contractually.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Andrew Garfield in “The Amazing Spider-Man” Photo: Sony Pictures San Diego Comic-Con is almost upon us! Known affectionately in some of the fanboy circles as “nerd prom,” this pop-culture extravaganza features a star-studded four-day celebration of the most highly anticipated movies and TV shows coming down the pike. MTV News is covering the best of all the action via our “MTV News: Comic-Con Takeover,” three live-stream broadcasts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT. But before we get settled in San Diego, one of the Con’s featured guests, Emma Stone, recently gave us a little preview of what we might expect from her film, “The Amazing Spider-Man.” “I think they’re going to be showing a little footage from the movie at Comic-Con. I have not seen that yet,” she admitted. Stone has, however, seen the official first trailer for the Marc Webb-directed reboot. “I’ve seen the trailer, which I believe comes out [in front of] ‘Captain America’,” she said. “I thought it was pretty cool, but maybe I’m a little bit biased, contractually. I’m pretty excited about it,” she added with a smile. “We’ll see how people respond to it.” Given the fact that Stone, Webb and her co-star Spidey/Peter Parker himself, Andrew Garfield, will be on hand to present the footage in front of thousands of fans in the convention center’s famous Hall H, we can almost guarantee that she has nothing to worry about. Stone is plenty excited already, especially for her return to the famous hall. “Hall H! I love Hall H!” she said excitedly. Yesterday, our partner site Movie Fanatic featured an interview with Captain America himself, Chris Evans . Now they bring us a sit-down with Hayley Atwell, the beautiful British actress who plays his love interest on screen. Atwell’s Peggy Carter feels an instant bond with Steve Rogers, who goes on to become Captain America. The actress talked about the role in detail, on top of dishing on sex scenes and what her ideal type of guy is in real life. Follow the link for Movie Fanatic’s interview with Hayley Atwell !
And now, some Harry Potter news that will refresh even the weariest of Muggles — and probably outrage conservatives even more : Emma Watson met the oiled-up mensch who plays “Himmione Grainghim” in the gay pornographic motion picture Whorrey Potter and the Sorcerer’s Balls . When she found out who he was, it reportedly “made her night.” If true, I dance at her nerve. Go, you vagabond child star, go! Plus, the picture is soulfully edifying.
If you still find yourself wondering about the majestic brownstone Wes Anderson used as the setting of his 2001 film Royal Tenenbaums , you’re in luck. As part of its online film travel series “Pop Pilgrims”, the A.V. Club visited the New York City spot, and spoke to the movie’s location scout Will Sweeney about how the house inspired Anderson’s Oscar-nominated script, why it required a dramatic remodeling, and why the roof was perfect for Anderson’s (short-lived) fascination with falconry.
Yanks can’t have all the fun this week with the pending opening of Captain America: The First Avenger . Enter the creators of Captain Canuck , the Canadian comic-book hero whose own time has come for a big-screen adaptation. No, seriously.
Skin Central likes a good superhero action flick as much as the next guy, but we do have one critique of the Marvel machine: their movies tend to be sausage fests. Case in point- out of the dozens of characters in Captain America: the First Avenger, only two, Hayley Atwell (who’s never appeared nude) and Natalie Dormer (nude in The Tudors ), are female. Well, looks like two will continue to be the magic number for Marvel as Scarlett Johannson ‘s Black Widow acquires a galpal to trade beauty tips with in the S.H.I.E.L.D.locker room. Amanda Righetti has been cast in the upcoming Avengers movie as “an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Amanda’s character hasn’t been publicly announced yet, but she’s likely to be playing Sharon Carter , niece of Cap’s galpal Peggy Carter (Atwell) and badass mercenary. Amanda’s best known for her role as bad girl Hayley on teen soap The O.C. , but she’s breast known at Mr. Skin for her fantastic nudity in the thriller Angel Blade (2002), where she handcuffs her lover to the bed and skingages in some kinky knife play. Could this be skinspiration for killer nudes in The Avengers ? Not likely, but Skin Central’s still looking forward to her (almost certainly) skin-tight superhero ensemble. It’s a Marvel movie so you knew it was coming, but still: Despite studio efforts to keep it from press in early screenings, a teaser sequence appearing at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger has leaked online. Multiple accounts and even a bootlegged video of the footage suggest that the leaks didn’t come from the media, but from special public screenings held over the weekend. So why keep it from the press to begin with?
