In the eyes of many of her Instagram followers, Jessa Duggar can do no right. Jessa gets mom-shamed pretty much every time she posts anything about her family, but to her credit, it seems she’s not letting it get her down. Despite the heckling hordes, Jessa continues to post as often as ever, even when she seems fully aware that her content is likely to outrage the haters. Jessa celebrated her 26th birthday yesterday, and it seems she went all out … by Duggar standards, of course. Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, attended a small, sober gathering of family and friends, and afterward, she posted some pics of her sons on the ride home. That may not seem like a very big deal, but we can’t overstate the extent to which trolls scrutinize every pic of Jessa’s kids in search of reasons to get angry. The above photo shows Jessa’s 3-year-old son Spurgeon amusing himself with some power windows. “He loves to operate the windows,” Jessa wrote. This pic shows 1-year-old Henry looking like he knocked back a few too many juice boxes. “Partied out,” Jessa captioned the pic. Again, this may not seem like a big deal, but given the uproar surrounding past claims of Jessa endangering her kids’ lives , we think it’s safe to say she knew what she was doing by posting pics of them in the car, safely buckled in. Jessa also posted this pic, captioned, “Checking the sports stats.” This one may be a subtle way of addressing two separate controversies: For one thing, fans have been critical of Jessa’s homeschooling practices. Basically, they don’t think she does any homeschooling at all. On top of that, much has been said about the younger generation of Duggars allowing their children to enjoy secular forms of entertainment, a big no-no in Jim Bob and Michelle’s book. So unless these two are reading Bible verses on that tablet, Jessa just basically confirmed that she’s joined the rebellion against Jim Bob. Collin Gosselin has been spotted, folks. We repeat: COLLIN GOSSELIN HAS BEEN SPOTTED! The 14-year old member of this once-famous and always-controversial family had not been included in Gosselin family photos or gatherings in quite awhile. To be honest, we’re not even sure the last time we saw Collin with either his mother or his father. The son of ex-spouses and TLC co-stars Jon and Kate has been enrolled in a program away from home for children with special needs. To their credit, probably, neither Jon nor Kate ever really got into detail about what was troubling Collin or exactly where he has been spending all his time. But while it was admirable that the parents respected their son’s privacy, this same privacy led to a million questions about Collin around the Internet. Especially when he was absent from his very own birthday party last year. But Jon Gosselin, who really does seem like he’s trying to rebuild his relationships with his children, surprised Instagram followers on Sunday by sharing a picture of himself, daughter Hannah and, yes, Collin. The image featured all three loved ones outside of Jon’s residence in Reading, Pennsylvania and the simple caption read as follows: “Had a good weekend visit with Collin at home!” As you can see above, Collin looked happy and healthy as he donned a cute red message tee shirt that referenced his home town and read: “Just a kid from Reading.” Jon, of course, shares Collin and Hannah – as well as remaining sextuplets Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden – with ex-wife Kate Gosselin. The pair are also the parents of 18-year-old twins Mady and Cara and they divorced very acrimoniously in 2009 after a decade of marriage. To this day, Jon and Kate continue to spar in public, most recently over the status of Hannah. She has been spending an unusual amount of time with her father over the past several weeks, leading many to believe Jon actually has custody of this daughter. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Shannade Clermont , one of the famed Clermont Twins who was also a star on the reality television show, Bad Girls Club , has pled guilty to wire fraud. The 24-year-old Clermont entered the plea Thursday in Manhattan federal court. She stood accused of stealing debit card information from a man who died shortly after a “prostitution date” with the former reality star. Clermont told U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald that she knew she was committing a crime when she used the man’s stolen debit cards to make purchases on the internet for clothes and other items. Spectators inside the courtroom included family members of the man she visited in January 2017. He was found dead of a drug overdose in his Manhattan apartment the next morning. The reality star and her sister have been featured in numerous publications and fashion shoots, including one for Kanye West ‘s Yeezy Season line. B lack women are raising the bar in the realm of academia. In July, Miami native Mareena Robinson Snowden became the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and now another woman has hit the same milestone at another institution. According to the Huffington Post , Ciara Sivels has become the first African-American woman to earn a nuclear engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Dr. Ciara Sivels is 27 years old. https://t.co/tZXmP1JdoS — HuffPost BlackVoices (@blackvoices) November 2, 2018 The institution has one of the top nuclear engineering programs in the country, the news outlet writes. 27-year-old Sivels—who hails from Virginia—submitted her thesis titled “Development of an Advanced Radioxenon Detector for Nuclear Explosion Monitoring” last month and earned her doctorate degree. Sivels wasn’t always passionate about STEM. She initially wanted to pursue a career in the culinary industry. It was her high school chemistry teacher who convinced her to give STEM a try. “I was originally going to go to culinary school. In my junior and senior years, I was in culinary arts,” she told the news outlet. “I remember the teacher from that class saying, ‘Oh, you’re really smart, you should think about doing something other than culinary.’ So that’s kinda how I switched over into engineering and eventually ended up at MIT and ended up in the nuclear program.” Sivels’ academic journey was far from easy. Although at times she wanted to give up she decided to stay the course because she realized that what she was working towards was something that was bigger than her. Now that she has her Ph.D. under her belt, Sivels is focused on becoming a professor. She’s relocating to Baltimore and will work in Johns Hopkins University’s physics department. She believes in the power of representation and hopes that her journey will inspire other people of color to pursue careers in STEM. “My two big things are representation and exposure. I still feel like exposure is key and representation also helps, because you have people that look like you that can help pull you up when you’re failing,” she said. Sivels’ accomplishment is one step forward towards changing the narrative about Black women in STEM. According to Catalyst Inc. , Black, Latinx, and Asian women made up less than 10 percent of engineers and scientists in 2015. G eorgia’s Democratic nominee for governor Stacey Abrams dismissed her GOP rival Brian Kemp ’s latest maneuver as a “desperate” attempt to distract voters. SEE ALSO: Stacey Abrams’ Unapologetically Black Journey To The Doorstep Of History Appearing Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union with Jake Tapper,” the host Jake Tapper informed Abrams that Kemp, who’s also Georgia secretary of state, opened an investigation of the Georgia Democratic Party into possible cybercrimes. Kemp reportedly alleges that state Democrats may have hacked into Georgia’s voter registration system. “This is a desperate attempt on the part of my opponent to distract people from the fact that two different federal judges found him derelict in his duty and forced him to allow absentee ballots to be counted,” she said after hearing about Kemp’s allegations for the first time. Abrams could make history on Tuesday as the nation’s first African-American woman governor. Kemp, who oversees the state’s election system, has tried to use every trick in the book to suppress the Black vote for the 2018 election. A separate court upheld those two decisions on Friday . Meanwhile, a white supremacist group is suspected of sending out racist robocalls to an unknown number of Georgia voters, the Associated Press reported on Saturday. The automated calls reportedly included impersonations of Oprah Winfrey , who led a rally on Thursday for Abrams. An Idaho man named Scott Rhodes is believed to be behind the calls through his organization The Road to Power, which is also linked to racist robocalls targeting Tallahassee’s African-American Mayor Andrew Gillum who’s running for governor of Florida. The calls came days after President Donald Trump , who endorsed Kemp, called Abrams unqualified to be governor . “He’s wrong,” Abrams told CNN on Sunday, pointing to her academic and work background. Abrams noted that she was the Democratic leader in the Georgia House of Representative for seven years, a deputy city attorney and a successful businesswoman. “I think they are seeing the same numbers we’re seeing. Since the early voting season got underway , advocacy groups have been fighting against a growing list of alleged suppression efforts by Republicans—much of it targeting African-Americans. In the opening scene, Key says, “Hi. I’m Keegan-Michael Key, and I’m here to talk to you about the importance of…” Rock’s voice is heard in the background yelling, “Cut!” He pushes Key to cut to the chase because people already know his name. Key tries again, rambling on about “efforts underway across America” to prevent “certain groups from voting.” “What are the groups you’re talking about? New Kids on the Block? The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is one of the groups at the forefront of the battle. (Photo by Christopher Furlong/Getty Images) Texas Mother And Her Boyfriend Arrested For Murdering 2-Year Old Daughter Tiaundra Christon, 21, confessed to murdering her 2-year-old daughter Hazana Anderson and allegedly keeping the child’s body in her car for three days, According to KCentTV , Christon and her boyfriend, Kenny D’Shawn Hewett are both charged with tampering with physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. Multiple agencies found the body near State Highway 146 in Texas City earlier this week. The 2-year-old had been missing for nearly a week. Christon was arrested and charged with child endangerment for allegedly leaving the child alone near a pond and giving a false report to police. She also told detectives she and Hewett were at a hotel in Houston from Oct. 17th through Oct. 20 during which the child was murdered. KCentTV reports that both parents allegedly beat the child who was crying loudly and the two got carried away. Christon said the child was going in and out of consciousness, so she and Hewett put her in the bath tub to attempt to revive her, according to reports. Christon stated that as she was removing the child from the tub, she said she noticed signs of sexual assault on the child. She then says the child died later that night. Christon told police the child was cold to the touch, so she and Hewett tried to use a hair dryer to warm her up, and while doing so, the hair dryer began burning the child’s skin. She also said she kept the body in the backseat of her car for three days, inside a plastic trash bag, reports KCentTV . On Oct. 23, Christon said she and Hewett wrapped the bag with the body inside with rope, and tied a heavy rock to it. They then tossed the body into a body of water near Moses Bayou and Texas 146 in Galveston County.
