Eminem’s ‘Won’t Back Down,’ Featuring Pink, Hits The Web

On the Recovery track, Em fires off a slew of lyrical punch lines over DJ Khalil’s spiked organs. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem’s Recovery Photo: Interscope The second single from Eminem’s forthcoming Recovery album, “Won’t Back Down,” was released online Thursday (June 3) via RapRadar.com . The track, produced by DJ Khalil, features Pink and finds Eminem firing off a slew of lyrical punch lines. “Listen, garden tool/ Don’t make me introduce you to my power tool,” the Detroit native raps over Khalil’s spiked organs. “You know the f—ing drill/ How you douche bags feel?/ Knowing you’re disposable, Summer’s Eve, Massengill.” Eminem spoke about his Recovery collaborations while in France on a promotional tour. Pink, Rihanna and Lil Wayne are all featured, a departure from Em’s previous projects, where the guest lists were usually limited to Shady or Aftermath artists. For “Won’t Back Down,” he explained, Pink was added to the track after it was completed. “When I did the song that I did with Pink, I laid my parts first and kind of heard her on the record and felt that she would smash this record,” Em said. Pink certainly delivers a fiery warning on the chorus. “You can sound the alarm, you can call out your guards/ You can fence in your yard, you can pull all the cards/ But I won’t back down, I won’t back down,” she sings. The song follows “Not Afraid,” the first offering from Recovery, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. What do you think about Eminem and Pink’s collaboration? O’Reilly on Gay McDonalds Ad: al-Queda Next?

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, after watching a gay-friendly advertisement for McDonald's airing in France, asked whether the fast food chain also had an al-Qaeda ad. The commercial is part of a wider campaign for McDonald's in France, which encourages people from all walks of life to “come as you are” to their restaurants. After presenting the commercial, O'Reilly asked whether it makes someone want to buy a Big Mac, to which Fox News anchor Jane Skinner replied, “I'm not a gay man, so I really couldn't answer that question.” She said that the message was confusing, and said the brand manager of McDonald's said the commercial was intended to show modern life without judging. Mexico Providing ID’s for Illegals in US

The Mexican government is opening a satellite consular office on Catalina Island — a small resort off the California coast with a history of drug smuggling and human trafficking — to provide the island's illegal Mexican immigrants with identification cards, The Washington Examiner has learned. The Mexican consular office in Los Angeles issued a flier, a copy of which was obtained by The Examiner, listing the Catalina Island Country Club as the location of its satellite office. It invites Mexicans to visit the office to obtain the identification, called matricular cards, by appointment. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a Republican whose district includes Catalina Island, said handing out matricular cards will exacerbate an already dangerous situation. “Handing out matricular cards to Mexicans who are not in this country legally is wrong no matter where it's done,” he said. “But on Catalina it will do more damage. It's a small island but there's evidence it's being used as a portal for illegals to access mainland California.” Rohrabacher added, “If there were a large number of Americans illegally in Mexico and the U.S. consulate was making it easier for them to stay, Mexico would never permit it.” Mexican officials with the consular office in Los Angeles could not be reached immediately for comment. The matricular consular identification card, is issued by the Mexican government to Mexican nationals residing outside the country, regardless of immigration status. The purpose is to provide identification for opening bank accounts and obtaining other services. But the cards are usually used to skirt U.S. immigration laws, since Mexicans in the country legally have documents proving that status, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said. In 2004 testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, FBI officials called the card an unreliable form of identification. The agency said that Mexico lacks a centralized database for them, which could lead to forgery, duplication, and other forms of abuse. Officers with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said their agency was asked by Mexican officials not to enforce U.S. immigration laws on the island while the cards were being issued. “It amazes me every time that the Mexican government has the gall to tell us what to do,” said an ICE official, who asked not to be named. “More surprisingly is how many times we stand by and let them. This is just an example of one of hundreds of requests we've had to deal with.” In April, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies seized a boat carrying large quantities of marijuana and detained three Mexican nationals who said they were being smuggled into the United States. The island has a sizable Mexican migrant population. Most are undocumented low-income workers. added by: diode

Parenting hack: Let kids pick their own produce

Kids are more likely to eat food they’ve picked out and prepared themselves. It’s established wisdom. But when the cards are down and it’s time to head to the store, it’s all too easy to give into the temptation to leave the kids at home with your partner and go pick up the groceries yourself. It’s so much quicker and easier, right? What you need, tired parent, is a dirty dozen cheat sheet for kids. We hope you already carry a copy of the Environmental Working Group’s dirty dozen produce list in your wallet, reminding you which fruits and vegetables are the worst offenders when it comes to pesticide residues. (If you don’t have one, you should; cheat sheets make healthy, sustainable shopping sooo much easier.) Now, you can arm your kids with their own treasure map for the hunt: a colorful, kid-friendly version of dirty dozen cheat sheet from My Paper Crane. Download and print off a copy (you can even laminate it, if you think it’ll be seeing a lot of hard action), then hand it to your kids at the store and let them pick their own. I’ve done this with my own kids since they were big enough to read the list, and they love sleuthing out the tastiest healthy choices. With this new kid-friendly version, you can introduce your own family to the thrill of the produce hunt even before they can read. That’s one more job off your list and in the (grocery) bag! Lady Antebellum ‘Honored’ To Perform On ‘American Idol’

‘I tried out for the show twice and didn’t make it past the first round,’ frontwoman Hillary Scott recalls. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Gil Kaufman Photo: MTV News It’s Shania Twain Week on “American Idol,” and Nashville’s latest crossover sensations, Lady Antebellum , are bringing their hit “Need You Now” to the “Idol” stage on Wednesday night (April 27). Frontwoman Hillary Scott said being featured on the #1 show in the country, in a performance that was recorded earlier this month, had a special meaning for her. “I tried out for the show twice and didn’t make it past the first round,” she told MTV News. “So that is what you call validation.” All jokes aside, Scott said being up on that stage felt pretty good. “It was amazing [after] watching it on television so many times, and then you get there, and the room is not as big as you think it’s going to be, but it’s just beautiful. We had a live audience, and it was fun. We were just honored to be there.” Scott recently ‘fessed up to loving Justin Bieber , but that doesn’t mean they’re prepared for his level of pop-music success. “You just never know when you write a song and you go into the studio and record it what it’s gonna do. And honestly, [‘Need You Now’] took on a new life when we went into the studio,” she said. “Whenever we heard that this song was getting picked up and played on pop radio, we were completely shocked but excited, because that just means more people are hearing it. We want to headline tours very soon, so the more people that hear it, the better. It’s bringing light to the country-music genre, which we are so proud of.” Are you excited to see Lady Antebellum on “Idol”? Tell us in the comments! Why Lee Dewyze Will Win ‘American Idol’

Crystal Bowersox might be the front-runner, but so was Adam Lambert, in Bigger Than the Sound. By James Montgomery Lee Dewyze Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Fox I hate to break it to you, fellow members of Bowersox Nation, but our girl isn’t going to win “American Idol.” It pains me to write that, as I love Crystal and all that she stands for (shoot, I feel like I know her ), and I really want her to win, but it’s just not in the cards. Not with Lee Dewyze still shrugging in the background, anyway. See, no matter how much Simon Cowell wants to shout it, “American Idol” is not “a singing competition”; it’s a popularity contest. If the show were based on vocal ability, producers would have just ended the competition last week, after Bowersox leveled the room with her tearful take on “People Get Ready,” or last month, when she lapped the field with “Me And Bobby McGee,” or, well, you catch my drift. At this point, the questions about her “marketability” or “relevancy” are moot: Her voice is timeless. She has proven that she can sing anything, anytime, anywhere, and she can do it better than anyone else on the show. So of course, she will still end up losing. Because “Idol” isn’t based on talent (I mean, it is up to a certain point — usually about the time we reach the top 10, then things tend to get all high-schooly). It’s based on intangible stuff like “familiarity” and “likability.” And those are the two categories in which Bowersox doesn’t dominate. For better or worse, viewers tend to vote for the contestant they feel they have the most in common with, the one they feel is a nice person, the one they already feel like they hear four times an hour on the radio. And more often than not, that contestant happens to be a slightly scruffy, well-proportioned, slightly hunky, kinda underdoggy, totally inoffensive guy. And this year, that guy is Lee Dewyze. Let me stop here for a second and say that I don’t dislike Dewyze in any way. I actually don’t have any kind of opinion of him (and I don’t think I’m in the minority by saying that), which doesn’t exactly bode well for his post-“Idol” career. After thinking about it for a full five minutes, here’s about all I can come up with to say about him: He seems like a pretty nice guy. He has good teeth. He is probably nice to animals and children and the elderly. Sometimes he wears a goofy knit cap. He plays the kind of bland, radio-ready sorta-rock that continues to mystify me. Of course, none of this makes him interesting — and, frankly, when he speaks, I tend to lose consciousness — but it makes him a shoo-in to win season nine of “American Idol.” “Idol” voters don’t want “interesting”; they want “nice,” “dependable,” “relatable.” This doesn’t change — or, at least, it hasn’t for the past three seasons. Just look at last year, when everyone was rushing to crown Adam Lambert the champion. I argued that Kris Allen would win “Idol” because “he seems like a solid, trustworthy guy — like a combination cowboy/firefighter, or a youth minister (which I think he actually is). If you think about it for a few seconds, you’ll probably realize that you know someone exactly like him — and you are not alone. Everyone in America knows someone like Kris Allen. Or, at least, more people know someone like him than they do Adam Lambert.” As it turns out, I was right. So with something like four weeks left in the competition, I’m calling it for Lee Dewyze. He reminds me too much of Allen in every possible way, right down to the fact that most of the media that covers “Idol” seems hell-bent on making him the “underdog,” despite all evidence to the contrary. Plus, to be honest, it’s not like Crystal has really salted this one away, either, what with the whole “I-quit, no-wait-I-don’t” drama surrounding her last week. There are too many holes in her story. She is considered too weird by the people who actually vote on this thing, and eventually — probably in the finale — her luck will run out. I am not alone in thinking this, either. Just Tuesday, I spoke to a pair of “Idol” experts for a piece I was working on called “Can Crystal Bowersox Lose ‘American Idol’?” Sadly, they both agreed that, yes, she could, and it would probably be to Dewyze. Of course, I’m willing to be proven wrong — I just don’t think I will be. America will go for Lee Dewyze, because they’ve gone for him in season seven (David Cook) and eight (Allen). They will go for him because he’s the safe, familiar choice, and because he seems nice. But most of all, they will go for him because he’s not Crystal Bowersox. That’s a shame, but it’s not exactly shocking. America likes things safe, and this is ” American Idol,” after all. Questions? Concerns? Hit me up at BTTS@MTVStaff.com .

T.I. Premieres ‘I’m Back,’ First Video Since Prison Release

Clip, from forthcoming album King Uncaged, finds Tip getting reacquainted with his hometown. By Jayson Rodriguez T.I. in his video for “I’m Back” Photo: Atlantic Everybody loves a comeback, and T.I. is in full force with his return. On Monday night, the Atlanta rapper premiered the video for “I’m Back,” the first track he’s released since he ended his federal prison sentence earlier this year. The clip debuted on T.I.’s website , and features him returning to his roots. Tip, sitting shotgun in a black SUV, is driven to a group of buildings. The truck slowly pulls up to a warehouse in the complex and Tip exits the vehicle as the door to the building opens. T.I. quickly enters and lights a match to brighten up the dark space. Clad in a hoodie, T-shirt and little jewelry, Tip walks up to a covered car parked inside. When T.I. pulls back the cover, the camera finds his car, a Ferrari, waiting for him. The rapper shuffles over to the trunk of the import and inside spots a leather bag, from which he retrieves wads of cash and an expensive watch and necklace set. And his shades. From there, Tip takes a spin in his car and gets reacquainted with his hometown. But like the lyrics in the song, T.I. isn’t revisiting his past mistakes, he’s moving on. “Probably just seen Wayne, Gucci Mane, me and Boosie all go to prison, now he flippin’ his whole image,” Tip raps. “Really trippin’, listen dude, for you that’s not in your cards/ Think the power’s in the gun, but overall it’s in your heart.” “I’m Back,” the first offering from T.I.’s forthcoming King Uncaged LP, premiered last month. The rapper, who hasn’t spoken much since he was released from prison late last month has been hard at work on his album, which is scheduled to arrive in stores and online August 17. In an interview that was posted on his site recently, the rapper spoke about the project and promised fans a more aggressive tone on King Uncaged . “I want to maintain the level of success I’ve been fortunate enough to do, over and over again, over the years,” Tip said. “This album is different in many ways. I think that Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts; this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive, or at least at this period in production. Who knows? I can do 10 love songs tomorrow and change the direction. At this point, right now, it’s going hard. It’s going hard like classic T.I.” What do you think of T.I.’s new video? Bret Michaels: I Almost Died!

When Bret Michaels hilariously knocked himself silly at the 2009 Tony Awards, he was embarrassed and angry. Following his hospitalization for an appendectomy last week, however, the walking STD rocker is just grateful to be alive. “They told me that if I had gone onstage like I wanted to, [my appendix] likely would have ruptured and I could have died,” the Celebrity Apprentice contestant wrote this weekend on his blog. Michaels added that he has a “pretty good threshold for pain,” but “getting your appendix out HURTS.” That seems obvious, but remember: this is the same person who didn’t comprehend why his duet with Miley Cyrus was utterly inappropriate. In the blog entry, Michaels thanks his fans for their cards, gifts and well wishes. He also answers the most important question of all: “Yes, there are hot nurses taking care of me, in case you were curious.”
