Beanie Sigel ‘Didn’t Apologize’ To Jay-Z

Philly MC concedes Hov ‘gave me an opportunity,’ but said press mistook his gratitude as an apology for dis tracks lobbed at Jay. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Beanie Sigel on “RapFix Live” Photo: MTV News Despite the lyrical vitriol Beanie Sigel shot Jay-Z ‘s way beginning in 2009, the Philadelphia MC is still grateful for the opportunity the rapper-turned-mogul gave him when he was just a budding Roc-A-Fella Records artist. However, during Beans’ visit to MTV News’ “RapFix Live” on Wednesday (July 6), he stopped short of saying he had apologized for his sharp words. XXLMag.com previously reported that the “The Truth” rapper expressed contrition after his Hov comments. But Beans, without specifically naming the outlet, said he felt the interview focused more on the controversy than his current projects, so much so that he still hasn’t bothered to read it. “I had a interview with somebody and we were supposed to talk about the music and what I was doing with myself and my music and my plans for the future, and what me and you have been sitting here on this couch conversating about kept coming up,” Beanie told host Sway. “I didn’t want to talk about that stuff no more. So if anybody read the article or the interview — I never even read it after I did the interview with [the reporter].” Sitting on the “RapFix Live” couch, Beans and Sway talked extensively about the rapper’s feelings on the demise of Roc-A-Fella, specifically, his falling out with its co-founders Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Beans alleges he never got a phone call from Dash or Jay saying that the Roc-A-Fella he knew was no more, and that left a sour taste in his mouth. And though Beans acknowledged that during his run with the label, most everything was all good, he just refuses to gloss over the bad. “I’ll reiterate today and tell you everything that we discussed and talked about out of all that was going on and the feelings that I might have had, whether they were good or bad, whether I was truthfully in my speech or wrong in my speech,” Beans said. “What we did together and what Jay did for me … he gave me something a lot of people don’t get in this music business for a life period. He gave me an opportunity. … We’ve been around the world together, people knew who I was, they embraced me, they wanted to wear the clothes we wore.” Despite Beanie’s grievances with Hov, the fiercely loyal Philly spitter admitted he owes the man his career. And Jay-Z has been steadfast in saying he always supported Beans the best he could. But Jay probably shouldn’t hold his breath waiting for an official apology. “At the end of the day, yo, all that don’t matter,” Beans said. “That opportunity supersedes my personal feelings. And he gave me that [opportunity]. You can’t deny he gave me that. So at the end of the day it’s about just growth and everything. It wasn’t no formal apology. I didn’t apologize. People took it that way. But it is what it is. At the end of the day, like I said, he gave me an opportunity.” What do you think of Beanie and Jay’s past conflict? Tell us in the comments. Dr. Dre Is Rapping On Game’s R.E.D. Album

‘I’m back with Dr. Dre, which is a bonus and dope for me,’ Game tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage For Game , the fourth time’s the charm. The former G-Unit rapper has high hopes for album #4, The R.E.D. Album, which is set to be released August 23. While a Game album is notable in its own right, the Compton, California, MC is particularly excited now that he has reunited with mentor Dr. Dre and snagged Pharrell to help oversee the production as well. “This album is the most incredible album of my career,” Game said to MTV News from the set of his “Pot of Gold” video shoot last week. “First, I’m back with Dr. Dre, which is a bonus and dope for me. Second, executive-produced by Pharrell, co-executive-produced by myself and Mars.” There is also production from Cool & Dre, Hit-Boy, Maestro and Lex Luger and features ranging from Nelly Furtado to Lil Wayne to Busta Rhymes. “And Dre’s rapping on the album,” Game revealed. Dre, who oversaw Game’s debut, The Documentary, has played a limited role in the rapper’s career since Game’s fallout with 50 Cent, who is also signed to Dre’s Aftermath imprint. Since then, the West Coast production icon hasn’t lent beats or his vocals to any of Game’s subsequent albums. In 2009, studio pictures of Dr. Dre, Game and Snoop surfaced, proving that the two were back to work in some capacity. Game wouldn’t confirm whether Dre provided a full verse or a hook. When asked, he just blurted out the album’s release date: “August 29.” What are you expecting from a new Game/Dre collabo? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists The Game Dr. Dre

Lenny Kravitz Reveals Inspiration For Black And White America

Kravitz’s expansive August 30 return covers plenty of sonic territory, tackles complex social issues. By James Montgomery Lenny Kravitz Photo: MTV News Lenny Kravitz has never been one for boxes. When he broke onto the scene 22 years ago with Let Love Rule, his brand of psych-and-funk-tinged retro rock, coupled with his roots (his mother was black, his father white, his religion a mixture of Christianity and Judaism), confounded critics and radio executives alike. And to an extent, that’s never really changed, though, with each successive hit — “Let Love Rule,” “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” “Fly Away,” “American Woman,” to name just a few — he’s become less of a curio case and more of a career artist. But with his new album, Black and White America (due August 30), Kravitz is still dealing with boxes … though, these days, they seem to have less to do with his background than they do with the music he makes. “Now, it’s less about the color, but more about still not fitting in a box; and this radio station doesn’t play this or that,” he told MTV News. “This is what always gets me, [now it’s], ‘This radio station doesn’t play horns.’ Now we have racism against instruments. You know, ‘It’s rock, but it’s too funky.’ Or ‘It’s funky, but it’s got too much rock.’ People love their slots, their little boxes.” For lack of a better term, there are plenty of slots on America, a far-ranging, lushly produced opus that seems destined to give radio programmers fits. Over the course of 16 tracks, it dabbles in whip-smart funk, crackling soul, classic pop and, of course, all-out rock, (to name just a few genres), and features guest appearances from Jay-Z and Drake. Not surprisingly, fitting in wasn’t what Kravitz had in mind when he was recording it. His only goal was “to make a double album … a classic two-pieces-of-vinyl, four-songs-per-side thing.” And America certainly plays that way. But for all the genre-jumping, there’s one theme that keeps popping up throughout the album: the idea of unity. It’s central to current single “Stand” and it’s the core idea behind the album’s title track too. “The inspiration came from a documentary that I was watching. … It was about a group of Americans, I’m sure somewhere tucked away, and they were saying they were disgusted by what America had become, they were disgusted that there was an African-American commander in chief; they’re not for racial equality, they would like America to be back to the way it was 100 years ago and, basically, they would do anything it took to make sure that their idea of America was restored, down to assassination, etc.,” Kravitz explained. “And it was with such hatred and, obviously, we know that racism exists but somehow they threw me for a loop. I was like, Really? For real? So the chorus of the song … I was just saying to them, This is what’s happening, you need to know what time it is. It’s how I was raised; I grew up between two cultures at a pivotal time after the civil rights movement, and [it’s] the story of my parents, and what they went through. It’s very natural for me to write about that sort of thing.” Of course, America isn’t all heavy lifting. “Rock Star City Life” is a down-and-dirty ode to excess, “Superlove” is a sumptuously sexual exercise in viscous funk, and the rattling “Boongie Drop” is about, well, ass. To a degree. “Well, “boongie” is a Bahamian word for ass. But it’s not just an ass-shaking song. There’s a place down the street from where I live, and on Sunday nights, people come down there and dance,” Kravitz said. “It’s like a red light-bulb, pool-table shack and this DJ, Military. And the thing I found beautiful was that you have these really full-figured Bahamian women showing up there, they know they’re beautiful, and they’re not buying into the lie, the stereotype of what media says is beautiful. They exude this pride, and the song’s about that.” If you couldn’t tell, there’s nary a musical corner Kravitz didn’t explore on the album (he wrote some 30 songs for the project), which was his mission all along. He spent nearly two years making it in a studio down in the Bahamas, where, for the first time in his career, he was given the space he needed to let his ideas flower. In short, it’s the kind of album an artist has to earn the right to make and, if anything, Kravitz has definitely done that. “It was the dream location, the dream studio,” he said. “I had time and, actually, perspective, having been doing this for 22 years. I feel like it’s the best record I’ve ever made.” Are you excited to hear Lenny’s new album? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Lenny Kravitz

‘Transformers’ Stars Reveal Tricks Behind Filming Building-Escape Scene

‘We all felt 12 again, sliding down the side of this building, shooting, screaming,’ Tyrese Gibson tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Shia LaBeouf in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Photo: Jaimie Trueblood For those who’ve seen ” Transformers: Dark of the Moon ,” there is so much going on in the film that one could spend the next 12 months breaking down all the dirty details. We’ve already tackled the nods to “Star Trek” and the “Transformers”-specific Easter eggs , so today we turn our attention to one of the film’s most impressive action sequences: the part when evil Decepticon Shockwave sends his massive, spinning, snakelike destroyer after our protagonists, who become trapped in the upper stories of a tall building. The Transformer proceeds to cut the building in half, leaving our heroes no option but to jump out of the windows and slide down the outside of the building to safety. MTV News had the scene’s stars, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson explain how they managed to pull off that sequence. “The building comes up on what I can only describe as a crane,” Whiteley explained of the rig used to support and move the specific set piece. “It tilts to about a 40-degree angle. It’s built to look like the outside of a skyscraper,” she said. “Shia, myself, Tyrese, the Marines, we all set at the top, Mike [director Michael Bay] would scream ‘Action!’ and then we would slide down this thing,” she recalled. “And then flower pots, chairs, paper and fake glass, tennis balls, every office supply you could possibly think of would get thrown down after us.” Despite the gravity of that particular scene, it turns out that the boys thought of the tilting skyscraper set piece more like a ride at a county fair. “This thing had to be 150 to 200 feet in the air. It was like a huge slide,” Gibson said. “We all felt 12 again, sliding down the side of this building, shooting, screaming, doing everything we had to do in those scenes.” “It was scary stuff,” he added with a smile. “It was scary with the idea that we are about to be eaten, eaten alive.” “We shot that for three weeks or so,” LaBeouf said. “You’re basically pulling yourself on rope to get to the top of the thing. It’s like a big slide, you know those slides they have at fairs where you get the little brown bag? Brown bag slides, sort of like that.” Whiteley added that in the midst of all the fun had while sliding, she learned very quickly to pay attention to her landing and get out of the way when she reached the bottom of the set piece. “I’d always hit the bottom first. It took one time to realize if I didn’t get out of the way really quick, I was going to get flattened by a 300-pound man coming quite quickly after me!” Check out everything we’ve got on “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Ryan Dunn Remembered In Tribute Video

Montage was played at ‘Jackass’ star’s memorial earlier this week. By Kara Warner Ryan Dunn Photo: Dickhouse Productions Earlier this week, Ryan Dunn’s family, friends and loved ones gathered at a memorial held at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles to mourn the “Jackass” star’s death . During the service, a very moving video tribute was played to honor Dunn, the second half of which was cut together by “Jackass” co-star Rick Kosick, and includes a song for Dunn by Roger Alan Wade, “The Light Outlives the Star.” “Ryan was really crazy about my cousin Roger,” Johnny Knoxville said in a statement to MTV News. “He loved his music and really looked up to him. Rog’ was equally as crazy about Ryan and, like everyone else, was shook by his passing. Rest in peace, brother. We love you.” The video tribute is a montage of Dunn’s greatest hits , most of them “Jackass”-related, cut together in a moving and very funny way that only the guys at Dickhouse Productions know how. For more tributes to Dunn, check out Dickhouse’s website. The five-and-a-half-minute video opens with the words “our brother” then cuts to a clip of Dunn walking in an office kitchen, saying hello to Wee-Man and subsequently being knocked to the ground by a giant hand (the same hand was a prominent feature in the “Antiquing” stunt in “Jackass 3-D”). This is followed by shots of Dunn riding an old-fashioned bicycle in a top hat and waistcoat, rolling off a roof in a large bucket, leaving a Port-o-Potty covered in blue paint, getting sprayed with mace while wearing a bear suit, “Poo Diving,” getting kick-boxed by a female boxer, riding small motorbikes and attempting to jump lakes, getting launched in the air and falling into various bodies of waters (lakes and pools, mostly), Dunn in a series of crazy costumes, etc. There are shots of stunts gone wrong, Dunn mugging for the camera and plenty of pranking with his “Jackass” brothers. The video ends with a shot of Dunn standing atop a jump ramp, dressed in a red-white-and-blue Evel Kneivel-like jumpsuit, motorcycle helmet in hand, kissing his hand and reaching it up in a silent prayer. That is followed by a shot of Dunn and Bam Margera laughing themselves silly in front of the London Bridge as Margera’s chair breaks and he falls to the ground, still laughing. Before the screen goes black, the words “We love you Ryan” appear over Dunn’s laughter. Share your condolences for Dunn’s friends and family in the comments below. Really Wild Thing: Charlie Sheen Admits to Steroid Use

Charlie Harper may soon be killed off Two and a Half Men , but this is far more troubling: Charlie Sheen has officially murdered our belief in the fastball of Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn. The pitcher arrived on the scene in 1989’s Major League , straight out of the California penal league. He was armed with an impressive, albeit erratic, right arm. Now, though, Sheen has lifted the curtain on how he prepared for one of his most iconic roles. In an interview with Sports Illustrated , the actor says went on a steroid cycle for “six to eight weeks” and it helped. He told the magazine: “You can print this, I don’t give a f-ck. My fastball went from 79 [mph] to like 85.” The Indians did win the pennant in Vaughn’s rookie season, but he may now be more shamed than fellow baseball cheats Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. Teresa Giudice: Pregnant?!?!?!?!?!?

Teresa Giudice is not pregnant. We know what the latest In Touch Weekly screams; we also know what the cover of an issue of OK! said earlier this month about Kim Kardashian . Remember how that rumor turned out? Between a feud with sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, an impending lawsuit and her general lack of talent, Teresa has enough to worry about without tabloids conjuring up allegations of… … whoa! Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux might get engaged?!?
