Stacking Jack & Jill Up Against the Fake Adam Sandler Movies in Funny People

The news that Katie Holmes — and, apparently, Al Pacino!? — has been cast in Adam Sandler’s Jack & Jill came as a bit of a shock this morning… if only because it means Jack & Jill still exists. This is the movie that was announced last year with Sandler tapped to play “twin siblings at odds during Thanksgiving.” Seriously? Seriously. If that sounds like the pitch to one of the fake Sandler films from Judd Apatow’s Funny People , that’s probably because it might be. Ahead, Movieline pits Jack & Jill against the oeuvre of George Simmons.

The Next Three Days Trailer: Russell Crowe, Liam Neeson and Elizabeth Banks Remember Pittsburgh Exists

You don’t see a lot of movies set in Pittsburgh, huh? Mysteries of Pittsburgh , Wonder Boys and, um, that’s about it. (Thank goodness for the books of Michael Chabon, right?) Natalie Portman Probably Won’t Be The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

And neither will Ellen Page, Emma Watson or Carey Mulligan . Page Six reports that director David Fincher is dead-set on hiring an unknown to play Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo . That means it’s down to the same list of usual suspects that it was in July (Rooney Mara, Léa Seydoux, Sophie Lowe and Sarah Snook). The only bit of actual news here: Fincher will likely have to make a decision on casting before Labor Day. Hold your breath! [ Page Six via Vulture ]

Awesome Bookmaker Says Natalie Portman is Odds-On Favorite for Dragon Tattoo

You know that Sony and David Fincher eventually will need to cast a female lead for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo , and so, as with anything, an enterprising bookie with a vague knowledge of trade rumors and actresses known to wear short hair has made a list of favorites worth betting on as Lisbeth Salander D-day approaches. Bring your rabbit’s foot (and a robust grain of salt) and meet me after the jump.
