Here’s Your First Look at Carey Mulligan Playing Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby

Looks like the rumors were true: Baz Luhrmann has selected Carey Mulligan for the part of Daisy Buchanan in his adaptation of The Great Gatsby . First Spiderman goes British with Andrew Garfield, and now the lead female in one of the greatest modern American novels follows suit. Get it together, America! Along with the announcement, Luhrmann included a picture of Mulligan from rehearsals that gives a taste of what may come. She certainly looks alluring and a bit ethereal here, but what do you think? Is she beautiful enough to completely wreck Leonardo DiCaprio, who is playing Gatsby? Does she trump everyone on the initial not-at-all-short list for the part?

Mark Romanek on Never Let Me Go and Who’d Pull Him Out of Music-Video Retirement

It took a while (and a studio debacle over The Wolfman ), but Mark Romanek finally has a second feature under his belt. And it’s not wanting for prestige: Opening today in limited release, Never Let Me Go features Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield as a trio of school friends turned romantic rivals turned… well, it’s complicated. And, as Romanek sympathized, worth keeping on the downlow for folks unfamiliar with Kazuo Ishiguro’s celebrated, genre-bending source novel. The director spoke further with Movieline about the variety of his young cast, the perils of marketing, and the pop star who might have the sway to draw him back to the music-video form that made him legendary.

Carey Mulligan Offers Her Unofficial Glee Audition in New Belle & Sebastian Single

It was the pixie-ish cry heard ’round the internet on Tuesday: Oscar-nominee Carey Mulligan told Vogue that she’s simply not famous enough to make a cameo appearance on Glee . Like any good Gleek, however, Mulligan’s not letting the tyranny of fame (and Ryan Murphy) get in the way of her dreams. Her vocal stylings are featured prominently on the just released new single from retro outfit Belle & Sebastian. So does she have what it takes to join the ragtag kids in New Directions?

Carey Mulligan ‘Not Famous Enough’ for Glee?

According to the new issue of Vogue , Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan isn’t cut out for Ryan Murphy’s slap-happy Fox singalong, and it has nothing to do with her range. “I want to be in Glee ,” she said in the magazine , “but I’m told I’m not famous enough to be a cameo.” This dredges up all my old resentments about the role of Sue Sylvester not going to Alfred Molina. New Never Let Me Go Clip Will Break Your Heart In Just Over A Minute

Never Let Me Go is one of my favorite books of all times, a subtle but powerful story about love and loss and humanity. And even though the movie version was packed with powerhouse actors like Keira Knightley, Charlotte Rampling, and Carey Mulligan, I was still nervous. After watching this clip, I’ve got no reason to worry — Keira & Carey, I hope you two are already picking out dresses for the Oscars.
