According to Us, Mulligan is engaged (for real this time) to boyfriend Marcus Mumford. The Mumford & Sons frontman, 24, reportedly popped the question to Mulligan, 26. The pair first got together five months ago, when the “Drive” actress went to a secret Mumford & Sons show with her buddy Jake Gyllenhaal. (Mumford and Mulligan are also said to have been childhood pen pals through their church in London.) Their supposed engagement was first reported on July 26, but Us claimed on Wednesday (August 3) that they got the latest scoop from an insider close to the couple. “They’re a great couple,” the source told the magazine, “very sweet.” Both stars had recently split with their significant others when they reconnected in February. Mulligan split with her longtime boyfriend and “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” costar Shia LaBeouf in October, while Mumford broke up with singer Laura Marling around the same time. Baz Luhrmann is Still Full of Crap

Despite the fact that by all accounts, Baz Luhrmann is likely well into pre-production on The Great Gatsby — which will likely be shot in Australia, and in 3-D , and feature Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in starring roles — the elusive director refused to admit anything at a dinner for Geoffrey Rush in Brooklyn on Thursday night. “I’m not doing Gatsby right now for this reason,” he told Vulture when asked why he was shooting Gatsby in Australia when his “team” was mostly located in New York. “Because despite what might be out there, I have made no comment about anything. So until I say it, it’s not said, you know.” Not really.

Baz Luhrmann Considering 3-D For ‘Great Gatsby’

Director says he believes 3-D can be used for ‘poetic cinema.’ By Jocelyn Vena Baz Luhrmann Photo: Getty Images Are you eager to view sweeping tragic romantic dramas in 3-D? Well, then Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” just might be your thing. With Leonardo DiCaprio already hitting theaters in 3-D thanks to a re-release of “Titanic,” it seems that the actor, who also starred in Luhrmann’s “Romeo + Juliet,” might be bringing Gatsby to life in 3-D. During a chat in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show last week, Luhrmann hinted that he’s thinking of bringing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s beloved novel to life in 3-D. According to Forbes.com , Luhrmann told an audience that he’s “workshopped” the idea of shooting the film, which also stars Carey Mulligan in the pivotal role of Daisy , in multiple dimensions. During the panel discussion, which also featured Michael Mann and Oliver Stone, the speakers noted that in the past, dramas like Alfred Hitchcock’s “Dial M for Murder” had been filmed in 3-D. Stone joked that “it would help to have [‘Dial M for Murder’ star] Grace Kelly” for today’s 3-D dramas. Right now nothing is set in stone when it comes to Luhrmann’s plans for “Gatsby,” but he did add that in the beginning 3-D was used for “gags,” then with “Avatar” it became more about “spectacle and drama” and he believes that it can be used for “poetic cinema.” The three directors were on the panel to talk about Blu-ray. “The power of Blu-ray is so great, you have to be a bit conscious about misusing it,” Luhrmann explained . “Are you trying to re-create from your memory? If Broadway had an NFL -like injury report, Julie Taymor’s production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark would be listed as “questionable.” In the wake of Monday night’s latest injury — when a stunt performer fell nearly ten feet into a pit beneath the stage — safety inspectors with the New York State Department of Labor will pay a visit to the production. “We’ll be talking to the production team, checking the harnesses, cables, and other equipment, and trying to determine what happened, and we’ll have more information after that,” said a department spokesman to the Times .
