Trayvon Martin Linked to Hate Crime Victims in Controversial N.Y. Daily News Cover

Less than 48 hours after the controversial George Zimmerman verdict , the N.Y. Daily News ran a powerful front page about the victim, Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was found not guilty on Saturday in the killing of Martin, a decision by a Florida jury that set off a wave of protests around the country. The Daily News explicitly linked Martin, the slain teen, to martyrs of the civil rights movement ( Emmett Till ), and black victims of hate crimes (James Byrd, Jr.): For the last 17 months, the case has been a lightning rod for gun debates, legal disputes, and perhaps most notably, racial tension across the U.S. Clearly, the Daily News is prepared to stoke those flames. The newspaper’s cover plays on Martin’s hoodie, which became a symbol of his (alleged) racial profiling in the aftermath of his February 2012 slaying. Zimmerman claimed, conversely, that he did not profile Martin – his brother Robert Zimmerman Jr. said race was not a factor in the case – that night. Instead, he cited media bias against the accused, who claimed self-defense, and urged that people respect the jury’s verdict before rushing to judgment. What do you think: Did the jury get it right?

Epitome Of A Bad Mother: Woman Forces Her 9-Year-Old Daughter To Take Freaky Pictures Then Sends Them To Her Fiance In Jail

Her azz needs to be thrown underneath the jail. Mother Arrested For Forcing Child To Take Lewd Pictures According to Mail Online A mother has been arrested after she allegedly forced her young daughter to take freaky photographs of her to send to her inmate fiancé. Jodi Roberts, from Wabash Valley, Indiana, is facing a federal charge of conducting a performance harmful to minors after making her nine-year-old child take naked pictures of her in sexually graphic poses, authorities said. Roberts’ actions were discovered when prison guards opened a letter containing the lewd pictures that was addressed to her fiancé Jeremiah LaMaster last week. Roberts, a gas station cashier, is due to appear in court over the charge but a date has not yet been set. It is not known who is taking care of the nine-year-old girl. Roberts also appears to have a young son. Her 24-year-old fiancé was arrested in May and charged with felony aggravated battery. He was involved in a 45-minute stand-off with police in Terre Haute as they tried to arrest him in May. Lamaster was previously convicted of reckless homicide and is known to police as a repeat offender. He is being held on $100,000 bail at Vigo County Jail and is due in court on July 23. We can’t figure out how she thought she could send the pictures without prison officials finding them. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Facebook

President Obama Reacts to George Zimmerman Verdict, Urges Americans to "Honor Trayvon Martin"

The George Zimmerman verdict is in. And so is a palpable sense around the nation that the man who was found not guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin may himself be in trouble. Numerous reactions over Twitter and other social networks warn Zimmerman to watch his back. Will someone’s idea of vigilante justice lead to another lost life in this case? George Zimmerman Verdict Riots After Zimmerman Verdict Clearly afraid of just such an outcome, President Obama took the unusual step today of an issuing a statement in reaction to the verdict. “The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy,” Obama said. “Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken.” He continued, addressing citizens around the nation: “I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities. “We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.” Do you think the jury made the right call in the George Zimmerman verdict? Yes. The jury got it right. No. They blew it. View Poll »

Fair And Balanced Bullisht: Shady Fox News Article Says Trayvon Martin’s Testimony “Wouldn’t Have Changed Anything” In The Case

The Faux News foolery knows no boundaries…. Fox News Columnist Says Trayvon Martin’s Testimony Wouldn’t Change Anything These fools over at Faux News just never quit. In their latest round of “WTF?” commentary, a Fox News columnist recently wrote an op-ed piece on why he thinks that he even if Trayvon Martin were alive to testify on his own behalf, it wouldn’t make a difference in the case. Check out few excerpts below: via Fox News In the days since 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by 28-year-old George Zimmerman, a common claim has been: “we will never know what happened between Zimmerman and Martin since the only person who knows the truth and is still alive is Zimmerman.” But this statement is not accurate. The closing arguments in Zimmerman’s case start today. And the truth is, we know a lot about what happened on that fateful night. Trayvon Martin’s testimony, could he have spoken, wouldn’t changed anything. For those who have watched the trial, ask yourself: is there even one piece of convincing evidence that Zimmerman did not act to defend himself from a threat of “imminent death or great bodily harm”? There was no convincing evidence to support the charges against Zimmerman. If both Zimmerman and Martin had both been white or if Zimmerman had been darker skinned, this case would never have gotten to court. The debate between the experts was over how severe Zimmerman’s wounds were. After examining photos of Zimmerman immediately after the attack, Jacksonville medical examiner, Valerie Rao, claimed that they were “insignificant,” that there was “a chance” that the number of blows Zimmerman suffered could range from just one to more than a half dozen. She wouldn’t say what the maximum number could be. If Martin had been alive today, what could his testimony have added to any of this?  Could he have explained away the angle of the bullet? With Zimmerman’s broken nose and lacerations on the back of his head, would it have mattered if Martin had told the court that he really hadn’t hit Zimmerman that hard? The prosecution never provided any evidence that Zimmerman continued following Martin after the 911 operator suggested that he stop doing so. Suppose Martin could testify that Zimmerman had continued to follow him, would that have mattered? No, because even if Martin had indeed been followed, it wouldn’t have justified Martin punching Zimmerman’s nose, pinning him down and repeatedly hitting him and slamming his head into the concrete. This is some of the dumbest, most delusional bullish we’ve heard to date from people trying to defend this murderer and justify his killing of an unarmed, unthreatening, 17-year-old who was minding his own business while walking home from the store until he was FORCED to defend himself. The big, bright, glaring, undisputable bottom line in this situation that the defense so conveniently continues to skip over, is that Trayvon was not harming himself, Zimmerman or anyone around him when he was approached by a strange man who was not a police officer that had been following him for an extended amount of time without just cause. So Trayvon did what ANY person, black, white, male or female would have done in the situation, which was defend himself, and he lost his life as a result. Additionally, are we the only ones confused as to how Zimmerman can even claim “self-defense” as justification for murder if HE was the aggressor? What do you think about this bogus Fox News contributor theory, Bossip fam? Continue reading
