So I don’t know what kind of Photoshop magic the Vogue art department was working for their latest issue, but I’m just going to leave this picture of Chubby Taylor right here and let you guys draw your own conclusions.
Former Rep. Corrine Brown of Florida was sentenced to 5 years in prison after taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from donors who thought their money was going to charity. NPR reports, Brown was sentenced on December 4, 2017, by a federal judge. She was voted out of office in 2016 on 18 counts of conspiracy and fraud. Judge Timothy Corrigan, the judge presiding over the case found the entire situation a tragedy. “It is a sad day for everyone. It is a sad day for this community,” expressed Judge Corrigan. “I was impressed with all the outpouring of support for you and it’s a tribute to you and the work you’ve done…and that makes it more tragic.” In 1992 Brown became one of three African-American lawmakers from Florida to be elected to Congress since the Reconstruction era. She served 12 terms in which she brought change to her state until losing re-election last year due to her indictment. Her chief of staff Elias “Ronnie” Simmons worked with Brown to collect donations for the charity called One Door for Education that provides money to educate children in poverty. $800,000 was raised for this charity, but only $1,200 went to the charity. Brown’s sentence of 5 years was significantly reduced from the usual sentence of up to 9 years. Her lawyer is looking to appeal the sentence. Like BlackAmericaWeb.com on Facebook . Krista Ball just wanted to bake something delicious for her family this holiday season. The Newfoundland, Canada native sent what she believed was a simple text message request to her mother recently, asking how to make her mother's beloved bread for her own immediate family. What followed, however, was anything but simple. Try to follow along below, as Ball attempts to remain calm and collected in the face of her mother's less-than-detailed description… 1. We all make mistakes. Most of us don’t have our mistakes broadcast on international television. But the whole world saw Rachel Lindsay choose Bryan Abasolo . They’re still together though, and Rachel’s talking about wedding plans. But … it sounds like she might just elope. Speaking to Us Weekly , Rachel Lindsay gushed about her engagement to Bryan Abasolo and how eager she is to tie the knot. “I’m ready to be married.” Well, it would have been weird for her to go on The Bachelor and then star on The Bachelorette otherwise. “I keep saying winter wedding, which more so with the process of everything is what it’s looking like, but honestly I could elope with Bryan tomorrow.” A winter wedding sounds lovely, right? Elopement sounds … well, it probably sounds a lot easier. And apparently Rachel’s mother agrees. “And it’s so funny because my mom texted me the other day and she goes, ‘Secretly I would love for you to just elope.’” It’s hard to tell if her mother really wants that or if she’s just fatigued at the idea of this huge, expensive wedding. “The family loves him,” Rachel claims. That sounds a little different from what we saw on Hometown Dates, but … okay. “I want good music, good vibes, a lot of family and friends around, and I just want it to be a big reunion, that I know.” That sounds like what most people want for their weddings. “Someone said the other day, ‘What about having the wedding in Colombia?’ and actually that’s a thought that we’re thinking about right now.” What would be the point of a winter wedding if it’s in Columbia? But she’s a Texas girl, and perhaps doesn’t enjoy the cold. “That’s the first time I’ve said that out loud!” Usually , you want your fiance or at least your wedding planner to be the person you tell, not Carly from Us Weekly . No offense to Carly. Rachel Lindsay talks about her friends that she made within the Bachelor Nation. “They’re with me everywhere.” Awww, that’s sweet to imagine. “I’m stuck with them for life.” That … well, we’re sure that she’s joking. She goes on to gush about what it’s like to be engaged to Bryan Abasolo. “Bryan’s romantic every day.” He promised her a fairytale romance, and it sounds like he’s delivering. “He’s always giving me massages, he’s always catering to my needs to the point where I’m like, ‘Hold on. Let me do something for you.’” That sounds like it might be bordering on TMI, but it also sounds very pleasant. “Bryan’s just very sweet. Whenever I need something he’s very attentive to it, so I would say he’s romantic every single day.” She also talks about their disagreements when it comes to children: “I want four kids. Bryan wants three, but he also says it depends on how many we can afford.” We never imagined that we’d say this, but … we’re team Bryan Abasolo. “See, this is what I mean about Bryan, he’s so practical. I’m just like, ‘Give me all the babies. If we can’t have them, we’re adopting.’ So we’ll see.” Let’s see if she still wants four after a few months of infant-induced sleep deprivation. Rachel talks about some more immediate plans that she and Bryan have. “We’re spending Christmas with his family.” Bryan Abasolo has gushed in the past about how much his grandma loves Rachel Lindsay . “We’re gonna be two weeks in Miami. He spent Thanksgiving with my family, so it’s all been so seamless in how it’s all come together.” Well, if you like wasting part of winter in warm climates where the weather takes “winter” as a mere suggestion, Miami sounds lovely. See, it’s not enough to just do bikini photoshoots anymore. You’ve also got to send out bikini videos to your followers pretty much 24/7. And having a cold is no excuse. I always knew Kate was a hard worker.
Shirley Franklin Endorses Mary Norwood Over Keisha Lance Bottoms Things are getting a little crazy in the Atlanta Mayoral race! 43 years of Democratic leadership in Atlanta will come to an end if Mary Norwood is elected over Keisha Lance Bottoms. The two candidates faceoff in a runoff Tuesday Dec. 5 that could potentially put a white person as Mayor for the first time in over forty years. This week former Mayor Shirley Franklin shocked some folks by endorsing Mary Norwood, the endorsement is being run as part of an ad for Norwood, primarily on black radio. Here’s a transcript via the AJC: “I’ve endorsed Mary Norwood for mayor. Some people say that endorsement may hurt my legacy, because I’ve endorsed a white woman over a black woman. This election is about character, transparency, and integrity. Not race. “I’ve worked for mayors Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young, supported Gov. Roy Barnes, and have always fought for civil rights. I am proud to stand with Ceasar Mitchell, Cathy Woolard, John Eaves, Peter Aman, the policemen, the firefighters, and city workers – all who endorsed Mary Norwood for mayor. “We can’t stand by and do nothing about the corruption and pay-to-play politics at City Hall. We must stand together….” It’s interesting that Franklin mentions corruption because a lot of Atlanta residents feel she was corrupt during her term because the entire time she was Mayor her family operated a business at the airport. She was also accused of improperly, without council authorization, transferring over 100M improperly. Franklin’s term as Mayor is also remembered negatively because it was on her watch that an innocent 92-year-old woman, Katherine Johnson was killed in her home. After the Eagle Raid occurred, the city had to pay millions of dollars to settle lawsuits. There are also many who point out Franklin’s association with Billy Linville’s firm, reportedly being paid by the Norwood campaign. Soooooo seems kinda crazy that Franklin is the one out here talking about corruption. On Friday, former Atlanta School Board candidate Charlie Stadtlander provided a 150-page dossier on Norwood. Statlander said after advising Norwood’s campaign earlier this year he refused to continue working with her because she wouldn’t correct financial impropriety. Here are two short but damning clips from that press conference: According to AJC reports: A spokesperson for Norwood said that Stadtlander was fired from the campaign. Stadtlander said that was news to him and later showed reporters a $1,000 check that Norwood had written to his election campaign in July. With the runoff just days away and polls showing Keisha Lance Bottoms trailing, much of black Atlanta has rallied around Bottoms. First the company mistakenly delivered pounds of weed to the wrong person’s house, now a delivery woman has gone viral for doing the unthinkable. Surveillance footage caught the contractor defecating in a gutter in front of a South Sacramento home. The homeowner though it was dog poop until he checked his camera’s and saw that it was in fact the woman who did the deed. See for yourself:

JuJu just went through a super embarrassing public breakup with Cam’ron after a thirsty sidechick seemed to troll their split and then Cam’ron called her boring, basically. Now JuJu is moving forward academically, with a Masters from a private catholic college, Barry University. She shared the news to IG fans. Congratulations Juju! Cam’ron said in a previous interview that Juju was smart and anyone would be happy to date her. Whyyyyy would he let her go??? SMH.
