Over the weekend, the world was stunned when Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus separated after only about eight months of marriage. Blake Horstmann continued to make the most of his time back in the spotlight on Monday night’s episode of Bachelor in Paradise. In the most irritating of ways. The inaugural rose ceremony then resulted in Bibiana, Annaliese and Jane being sent home. With this trio out, new contestants were flown in. He had gotten engaged to Jenna during Bachelor in Paradise Season 5 … only to break things off with her upon learning she’d allegedly been seeing another man. Ouch . After a worldwide social media push urging MTV to honor Missy Elliott’s music video artistry, the network has decided to honor the rapper with this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Missy has been nominated for 41 VMAs over the course of her career, winning seven. This year will mark the rapper’s first performance at the VMAs since 2003 when she performed “Work It.” The same year, she took home the award for Video of the Year. “Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible,” Viacom’s Head of Music and Music Talent Bruce Gillmer said in a statement. “Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.” MTV is going a step further, linking up with Pepsi to honor Missy with celebrity and fan videos celebrating her legacy. The network is also planning a pop-up that will immerse attendees in some of her iconic videos. No word on a location for that pop-up museum yet, but it’s slated to be somewhere in NYC between August 24th and 25th. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award has been given out at the VMAs since 1984 and was named after the King of Pop in 1991. Back in June on Father’s Day, Djimon complained to paparazzi that he hasn’t been able to see his 10-year-old son in a long time, and now, he’s taking legal action to try and change that. Kimora was served with papers while walking down the street in Beverly Hills on Friday, notifying her that her ex was filing for joint custody of their child, Kenzo. Kimora maintains that Hounsou is just an absent father who rarely wanted to see his son, and that’s the only reason he hasn’t. Hansu’s filings took place on August 1, and indicate that he’s petitioning to establish a parental relationship–a step taken to officially establish who Kenzo’s parents are in the eyes of the law. That might be necessary, since he and Kimora were never legally married. Included in the docs is the fact that Djimon is seeking child support, a custody arrangement with Kimora, along with visitation rights. He is requesting joint joint legal and physical custody between both parents and asks for both parties to have equal time with the child. If the Baby Phat founder is keeping her son from his father, it could be for fear that he might take Kenzo back to Africa with him and never return. Russell Simmons told TMZ that he offered Hounsou a visit with Kenzo just a few days ago, saying that he would take his son to him as long as he signs a document promising not to take the kid to Africa.
