Morehouse College Launches Program To Help Alumni Eliminate Student Loan Debt

I n May Black philanthropist Robert F. Smith made a monumental announcement during Morehouse College’s commencement ceremony where he pledged to eliminate the student loan debt of the 2019 graduating class. According to the Philadelphia Tribune , the HBCU is taking his efforts a step further by launching a new fund to help students tackle their loans. Through the program, organizers will also conduct research on the financial barriers derived from the cost of education and how to overcome them. “The Morehouse College Student Success Program will provide students with a liberating gift that will wipe away or greatly reduce their student loans, allowing them to pursue their dreams and lead lives of leadership and service immediately after graduation,” said Morehouse President David A. Thomas in a statement, according to the news outlet. The college’s Board of Trustees hopes that the program will serve as a blueprint for other historically Black colleges and universities. There is a huge need for programs like the one launched by the HBCU at colleges and universities across the nation. The student loan debt crisis has grown to $1.5 trillion. HBCU students are impacted the most by student loan debt. Research conducted by the United Negro College Fund revealed that 80 percent of HBCU students rely on federal loans to pay for their education. Not only that, to make matters even more serious, the actor is letting fans know that he’s refusing to start work on Aquaman 2 until something is done. Nicole Nafziger BLASTS Own Fans in Furious Rant: I Am NOT Crazy!

For years, 90 Day Fiance star Nicole Nafziger has endured being slammed by her own fans and second-guessed by her family. Now, she’s putting her foot down. After the latest postponement of her wedding to Azan, Nicole is going off on any and all fans who think they’re entitled to give her advice. This week, Nicole finally put her foot down in a lengthy and furious letter posted to Instagram. “Can y’all just get off my back?” Nicole wrote in her Instagram Stories. She’s been getting advice that she doesn’t want, and her patience is wearing thin. “I don’t want to hear any ‘well if you just’ or ‘if only you would’ …” she explained. Nicole was adamant: “I DO NOT want your advice.” “If you feel the need to message me about your concerns,” Nicole instructed. “DON’T.” She expressed: “I am soooooooo tired of y’all saying the SAME THING, over and over and over.” “You are the first who is trying to tell me how it is,” Nicole continued, possibly leaving out a word by accident (we all do it). She then goes off on a slight tangent to address an odd rumor that had been floating around. Was Nicole really running the Instagram account that has been attributed to Azan? “Also,” Nicole wrote. “I barely have enough time to keep up with my own account.” She continued: “I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT have time to make a fake account of the man I’m seeing.” She is a working single mom and a reality star. Azan may not use his Instagram often, but we see no reason to believe that he’s not the one running the account. Nicole still had more to say, however, and this time it was on a topic even more personal and sensitive than her fiance. “As much as you want to talk about me and my ‘mental health,'” Nicole wrote furiously. “I am not crazy!” she asserted. “And,” Nicole continued. “[I] don’t have time for this crap!” She then instructed her fans and critics alike to “GET A LIFE!!!!!” Just for the record, it is 100% normal for fans of a reality show to become invested in the lives and happiness of the stars. Humans are social animals. Anyone else ever catch themselves worrying about a stranger’s story they read on social media months before? I do. “Because I have one,” Nicole asserted, referring to the “life” that her followes need to get. “And,” she continued. “Y’all are the ones who literally need to MOVE ON.” She then reminds them that she’s not currently on 90 Day Fiance . “The season is over,” Nicole pointed out. She concluded her furious rant: “That is all.” There’s a fine line between concerned commenting and concern-trolling. Certainly, not all criticisms or pieces of “advice” thrown Nicole’s way have been in any way valid. But when people point out that they can easily send money out of Morocco despite Azan’s claims that Morocco doesn’t allow money to sent out, maybe she should listen. It’s probably no coincidence that Nicole is feeling defensive over her controversial, long-term relationship. For months this year, she said that she wanted to head out to Morocco before time for May to start school. Well, May starts school next week, meaning that her wedding plans have been delayed even further. Whatever we may think of Nicole’s relationship with Azan, we’ll say this: if she won’t listen to her own family, what makes her fans think that she’ll listen to strangers? That “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink” saying applies. Nicole has already been led to the water. That’s all that anyone can do. The rest is up to her. Next, you’re wondering; where was his daughter while he tried to escape? She was in Gericinó Prison Complex in Rio de Janeiro, hoping her father dressed like an odd little buff girl could make the great escape. Then you wonder; would my child do this for me? Unfortunately, da Silva wasn’t the Master Of Disguise and the police asked “Shorty” to remove everything. According to the Rio Times, Tuesday Clauvino da Silva was transferred to maximum security. “Three days after his failed escape, da Silva, a senior member of Comando Vermelho (Red Command), one of Brazil’s main crime groups, was found dead in his cell in a maximum-security prison. Officials said he appeared to have hanged himself with a bedsheet. Samsung Unpacks The Beautiful Galaxy Note 10 & Note 10 Plus In Brooklyn

Yesterday (August 7) in Brooklyn, the South Korean tech giant led by its CEO DJ Koh unpacked the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus. Galaxy Note 10 vs. Galaxy Note 10 Plus Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz The first thing you will notice about the new Note 10 and Note 10 Plus is how beautiful of a device it is and of course, the size of it. Coming in 6.3 inches is the Galaxy Note 10, while the luxurious Note 10 Plus is a 6.8-inch marvel. In hand, I was impressed at how light both devices were despite the plus version being slightly heavier. They didn’t feel ridiculous while I played around with the phones for a bit. Like the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus both variations of the Note 10   Dynamic AMOLED  With HDR10+ certification and Dynamic Tone Mapping giving users a complete edge to edge experience with no distractions. Improving on the S10 design where they placed the hole-punched front-facing camera on the right of the screen, it is now a single camera located in the middle of the  Note 10’s screen. Samsung claims it made the decisions to part with it to free up space phone for more battery capacity. So you will be forced to either go wireless or use the USB-C headphones that come with the phone. You can also use a dongle adaptor, Samsung does not supply you with one sadly. While on the subject of the battery, the Note 10 packs a 3,5000 mAh versus the Note 10 Plus 4,300 mAh. Both models do feature wireless charging, and 30-minute quick charging using a 45-watt wired charger that Samsung boasts will last the entire day. The button configuration on the phone has also changed. The Bixby button has been removed. It is now replaced with the power/lock button on the left side of the phone directly underneath the volume controls. If you want to trigger Bixby, just press and hold down the button, to open the camera, press the button twice. As far as storage, the Note 10 comes with 256GB while the Note 10 Plus comes with either 256 or 512GB. The MicroSD card slot is not on the Note 10 but is present on the Note 10 Plus. The lite version of the Note 10 packs 8GB of RAM versus 12GB for the Plus. The phones come in an array of different colors which Samsung labels with “Aura” due to the fantastic shine each color gives off. The one model that caught everyone one’s eye, including mine, was the “Aura Glow” finish, which was absolutely stunning in person. While there are a good number of differences, both models are still relatively the same with a slight edge going to the Note 10 Plus understandably. Pro-Grade Camera System Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz The Pro-Grade camera system introduced with Galax S10 and S10 Plus gets a boost. Users will still be able to seamlessly switch among the different lens located on the rear. Instead of them being positioned horizontally like on the Galaxy S10, the cameras are now vertical. As mentioned about there is only one front-facing camera now. Samsung notes that better software for taking portrait selfies and now “Night Mode” allowed for the removal of the second camera. 12-megapixel dual-aperture lens 16-megapixel wide-angle lens 12-megapixel telephoto lens 10-megapixel front-facing camera Where the two models differ is the Note 10 Plus’ inclusion of a fourth 3D depth-sensing camera on the back. It will allow users to take portrait video (Live Focus Video), allowing blur effects, so the subject is the main focus. Note 10 Plus owners will also be able to draw on top of their photos and videos using the S Pen now with a new feature called  AR Doodle. It was a hit among everyone at the event. If you shoot a video of someone while using AR Doodle, the camera will track their movements so everything you drew on them will follow them. Another cool feature AR Doodle will allow is the ability to save the file you created as either a JPEG or movie file. Once saved, you will be able to share it on any platform and not with just Note 10 users, unlike Apple’s Live Photo feature. Samsung also showed off the 3D depth-sensing camera’s ability to scan objects and turn them into a moveable 3D render. While filming, users will be able to push background noise aside to focus on the sounds they want. Plus a new and improved version of “Super Steady” helps to film action sequences while removing bumps and shakes. The S Pen Gets Upgraded Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz There is still a country for people who love to work with stylists. Samsung has brought back the S-Pen with some upgrades. Last year’s version of the peripheral introduced Bluetooth capability allowing Note 9 owners to do things like snap a picture by just using the S Pen remotely. The Note 10’s S Pen gets an upgrade. You will now be able to operate the phone and certain features using gestures or as Samsung describes it Air actions. By holding down the button and flicking your hand left, right, up and, down, you will be able to switch cameras, change songs on Spotify or even sitch slides during a PowerPoint presentation. There are more advanced gestures, for example, if you make a circular motion, you can zoom in or out while using the camera. While trying it out, it didn’t work perfectly, but after a few tries, I was able to get some of the gestures to work. I got to try out the forthcoming Call of Duty mobile game which Samsung is partnering with. I was absolutely blown away with how great the game looked on the phone and how smoothly it ran. The controls were easy to figure it out, but if you’re not a fan of using the on-screen configuration, you can connect and controller using Bluetooth. The product expert on hand also explained that the game will automatically match you with other players using controllers. So you won’t have an advantage over others who instead use the on-screen controls. Andrew Glennon to Amber Portwood: I’ve Got Your Son & You’ll Never Get Him Back!

From the moment that Amber Portwood was arrested for domestic assault , fans assumed that a vicious custody between the Teen Mom OG star and her ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon would soon follow. But even with Amber’s history of erratic behavior, we don’t think anyone thought the situation would get quite this ugly. Glennon has been keeping his distance from Portwood, and he currently has custody of the former couple’s 1-year-old son, James . Now, he’s being accused of tormenting Amber by flaunting his relationship with James on social media. “Andrew seems more concerned with public perception than getting back together with Amber,” a source close to the situation tells Us Weekly . The insider says the weeks since Amber’s arrest have cemented the fact that there’s no hope of reconciliation for Amber and Andrew. “He’s done nothing to indicate he wants to be back with her, and she’s done nothing to indicate she wants to get back together with him,” the insider says. “They’re as good as done and haven’t spoken since the court ordered them not to.” The source says Andrew’s Facebook posts have infuriated Amber, as have the comments from Glennon supporters deriding Portwood as an unfit mother. But Andrew accuses Amber of conducting her own misinformation campaign. And he says his social media updates serve no purpose other than “to let everyone we love know that James and I are OK.” “She is in total control of the future of this relationship, but if she wants to pass the buck to someone else, ignore her downfalls and not do what is right, that’s on her,” Glennon tells Us Weekly . “Amber needs help and the sooner she acknowledges that, the healthier and happier she will be.” As for the accusations that he’s going out of his way to torment Amber or that he used her for fame, Andrew says nothing could be further from the truth. “There can’t be any better indication of me wanting a family than me taking care of our beautiful son and keeping him safe,” he says.  “He sees photos of her every day, smells her smells and plays with toys they loved to play with.” Something tells us Andrew’s efforts to appease Amber will fall on deaf ears.
