Shocker: CBS Kills Off 7 Shows Including Old Christine and Ghost Whisperer

Well, this is unexpected. Mere hours after announcing an expensive new deal with Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen, CBS has elsewhere cleaned house, wiping seven series from its slate. Some, like Miami Medical , were expected cancellations, but others, including the eternally on-the-bubble The New Adventures of Old Christine — which earned star Julia Louis-Dreyfus four Emmy nominations and one win — were a little more surprising.

It’s only the beginning of a very exciting upfronts week and already NBC has buried an expensive apocalyptic project and unveiled vaguely racist previews of their new series, while CBS rekindled a relationship with Tom Selleck, Fox announced a Glee -tastic fall schedule, and Movieline paid tribute to the recast actors and predicted which new shows will die first. Survivor Re-Crowned

Survivor just crowned its first two-time winner in 34-year-old Sandra Diaz-Twine, who won the show’s Heroes vs. Villains season against ultra-strategic “Evil Russell” and the impressive Parvati. Many argue that Parvati deserved to win , since she was both a subtle tactician and a major force during the physical challenges. I’m just grateful Jerri Manthey stopped co-hosting Talk Soup and VH1 countdowns years ago. We’re the survivors, see. [ Us ]

CBS Picks Up Tom Selleck Again

Ladies and gentlemen, Tom Selleck is returning to CBS. Just this morning, the Tiffany Network picked up Blue Bloods (previously titled Reagan’s Law ), in which the former Magnum, P.I. stars as a second generation New York City cop. CBS also ordered full seasons of Mike and Molly (from Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre), Hawaii Five-0 and Defenders . [ Deadline ]
