Whitney Purvis, 16 & Pregnant Star, Arrested For Stealing Home Pregnancy Test at Walmart

Whitney Purvis of 16 & pregnant was arrested in Georgia yesterday for bogarting a home pregnancy test at her local Walmart … and using it in the store. According to police, the 20-year-old “Never Nervous” Purvis stashed a First Response pregnancy test inside her hooded jacket and sneaked off to the john. Whitney then “took it to the restroom with her and used one.” Purvis allegedly tried to sneak out of the store through a side door but was busted by store security, who put her under citizens arrest and called police. Yes, she used a pregnancy test AT Walmart – retail price $15.98, like $4.00 less than CVS! – and got popped by Walmart rent-a-cops. All in a day’s work. Purvis was hauled to a nearby station where she was booked for misdemeanor theft by shoplifting and joined THG’s exclusive celebrity mug shots page. Purvis was featured on the MTV show in 2009. Her mom was busted for meth in Georgia last year. She recently dumped her slacker baby daddy too.

Bobby Brown Leaves Funeral After 20 Minutes Over Seating Dispute

Read the rest here:

Earlier reports stated that former husband Bobby Brown was unwanted at Whitney’s funeral. However Bobby said that was false and did arrive to the funeral as planned. However Bobby misunderstood or flat out did not care about how many invites he had. Just 20 minutes after Bobby arrived you can see him depart with his nine person entourage after getting into an argument with family members at the funeral.  Bobby walked up and touched the casket then walked to the back of the church. Allegedly he had a seat up near his daughter but the rest of his entourage would have to make other arrangements. Along Bobby’s side was also his son Landon and other friends and family members.  Reports are saying the family did not want Brown to even attend the funeral siting he was one of the main reasons Whitney had her untimely passing.  However after Rev. Al Sharpton stepped in and tried to calm the situation down Bobby was frustrated and departed the church (as seen in video below caught by TMZ).  And before stepping back in the church Rev. Al tweeted “spoke with Bobby Brown, trying to calm him down and not distract from the services. Today is a day about Whitney!” 1.1024958#ixzz1mlX3Pj2y

Whitney Houston’s Music Inspired By Her Faith

In 1990 MTV interview, singer says God chose her to ‘take that voice I gave you and spread it around.’ By John Mitchell Whitney Houston Photo: 20th Century Fox/Getty Images She may be best known for her soulful ballads and upbeat pop tunes, but gospel music was Whitney Houston ‘s first musical love. The singer developed her powerful voice in the church and told MTV in 1997 that the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, where her funeral will be held on Saturday , was her family’s “second home.” “My root is gospel. My root is not R&B; my root is gospel music,” Houston said in a 1990 interview featured in Wednesday night’s MTV special “Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words.” “And gospel is not something that you can categorize. It’s not black, it’s not white; it comes from the soul. It is a feeling that comes from the soul.” Houston learned to sing from her mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, who, along with her cousin Dionne Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin, was a notable figure in gospel music in the 1960s and ’70s. As a child, Houston joined the New Hope church’s junior choir, where her talent was quickly rewarded with solos, the first of which was reportedly the hymn “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.” “Wherever I go, it doesn’t matter, I always tell the world of the love that I have for God and Jesus,” Houston told MTV of her faith. She even admitted that she had reservations about being a pop singer rather than a gospel one, but concluded that she was able to bring God’s word to a broader audience as a superstar. “He said, ‘I chose you to be mass,’ ” Houston said in 1997. “I chose you to take that voice I gave you and to spread it around because I know you’ll always think about me. And no matter how far you go, or no matter where you go, I’ll be knocking at your door, saying, ‘Whitney, remember me?’ ” Houston returned to her first musical love in 1996 when she recorded six gospel songs with the Georgia Mass Choir for the soundtrack to “The Preacher’s Wife.” One of the tracks, “I Believe in You and Me,” was a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The record, which Houston also produced, went on to become the best-selling gospel album of all time. “We all can be angels,” Houston told MTV. “It doesn’t have to be somebody dropping down from the sky and just appearing.” There’s no doubt that the faith Houston was raised with is now comforting her friends and family in the wake of her tragic death. Gospel music will play a large role in the celebration of Houston’s life this weekend in Newark, with Grammy-winning gospel singer and longtime family friend Marvin Winans providing the eulogy at her funeral and Franklin singing at the service. Our History Makers: Jim Brown

Go here to read the rest:

Before Deion Sanders called himself “Primetime,” before T.O. had a reality show, there was Jim Brown. He was a stud on the football field, as a running back from the Cleveland Browns, and on screen as an action hero. He is considered the first black action star thanks to his roles in movies such as “Dirty Dozen” and “Ice Station Zebra.” His records included: • Most yards in a single-season (1,863 in 1963) • Career rushing (12,312 yards) • All-time leader in rushing touchdowns (106) • Total touchdowns (126) • All-purpose yards (15,549) In this interview, Jim Brown lashes out at today’s black athletes calling them buffoonish with their celebration dances and antics. He says today’s athletes are playing the “yessir boss slaves,” and don’t know the dignity of what it means to be a man. Newsone compiled a list of Heisman winners. Below are a select few, but you can see the entire list here .

To many today, Christmas is just a holiday – a stressful one at that.  It’s a time for buying gifts that didn’t need to be bought out of a budget that couldn’t afford them.  It’s a time for squeezing par-ties and extra events into a schedule that was already too full.  It’s a time in which many feel rushed and over-committed when what they really need is to slow down and enjoy the season. Read: Give The Gift Of Love Christmas should be a time of peace, not of fear and unrest.  We fear we may overlook someone on our gift list, or maybe they won’t like what we bought them, or perhaps they will think our gift too cheap.  For some, Christmas brings the added tension of bringing together fractured families.  Instead of peace, they dread the inevitable conflicts.  Yet, Christmas should be a time of peace. Read: What Is The Song “12 Days Of Christmas” About? Christmas should be a time of hope.  Think about this, Christmas is poised at the end of one year and the beginning of the next – at the crossroads of the past and the future.  A previous year, with its blessings and its trials, is gone.  A new year looms ahead, full of uncertainty.  Yet, here is Christmas – the celebration of a birth that took place 2000 years ago – a perennial bright spot on our calendars – because God has give us hope.  Christmas should be a time of hope. Christmas should be a time of love centered around the greatest love story ever told – the story of God who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.  Christmas is the story of God’s greatest gift given to meet our greatest need – because God is Love.  Christmas should be a time of love. Read: The Greatest Story Ever Told The Christmas story – a tale retold year after year, yet it never loses its majesty; it never ceases to fill our hearts with wonder.  I want you to see three facts – three certainties – that if you will let them find room in your heart today, they will fill this Christmas with peace, hope, and love. Let’s first think of the reality of this story, It contains scandalous behavior. She was found with child.  Forget, for a moment, the part about “of the Holy Ghost.”  You and I know that now because we have it written in the Word of God.  But only Mary knew it then.  For five, maybe six months she had been able to keep her condi-tion a secret.  But the day arrived when her pregnancy could no longer be hidden.  She was found with child.  She was found out. Into the midst of this confusion, with all its conflicting thoughts and emotions, Joseph receives a word from God.  And let me say, that is what we need when our lives spin out of control. A tiny baby came into a grim and dark world, shining light across the barren landscape – a light that still invites men to come into the warmth of God’s grace and find there peace, and hope, and love.
