Cincinnati Zoo Parents: Will They Be Charged in Murder of Harambe?

The verdict is in. About a week after officials at the Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed a gorilla named Harambe because they feared it would injure a toddler who had fallen into its enclosure, we now have legal closure on the case that has captivated the nation. The parents of said toddler will not be charged with any kind of crime. Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters announced on Monday morning that Michelle Gregg was NOT negligent when her three-year-old boy strayed from her watch the Cincinnati Zoo. Many on the Internet have been calling for Gregg’s head  ever since the video below went viral: Cincinnati Zoo Gorilla Killed to Save Toddler’s Life: Who’s to Blame? It depicts the 17-year old, 450-pound gorilla throwing the child all around. Did Harambe mean the infant harm? Maybe not. But when you have this kind of size and strength discrepancy, there’s simply no way of knowing what would have happened… and no way the zoo could have taken any chances. In making his ruling, Deters pointed out Gregg had three other kids with her at the time one of her sons ended up in the animal’s clutches. Moreover, based on surveillance footage and witnesses at the scene, she was being attentive. Accidents simply happen. Deters explained very simply that “kids can scamper off and they do.” He added, in sort of hilarious fashion, that if Gregg had been “in the bathroom smoking crack that would have been a different story, but that’s not what happened.” Deters concluded by saying “there’s nothing that the mother could have done” and also defended the zoo’s difficult decision in putting Harambe down. The lawyer labeled this a “painful choice” for officials to make, however: “It’s still an animal. It does not equate to human life.” View Slideshow: Harambe Mourned, Celebrated by Celebrities Everywhere

Soooo, Brandi Glanville posed in her undies and complained about her post-baby waistline. The thing is, I’m not sure if I should be looking at a particular part of her torso, because she looks like a weight loss “After” picture. “Trying to get my pre-baby waistline back :/,” Glanville wrote on June 5th. “Have a little more work to do.” Glanville can be forgiven for wanting to keep it super-right and super-tight; her new E! reality show, Famously Single premieres on June 14th, and the model knows that when you feel good, you look good. Glanville co-star on the “relationship rehab” show alongside Jersey Shore’s Pauly D, former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day, The Bachelorette ‘s Josh Murray, model Jessica White, former NFL player Willis McGahee, Love & Hip Hop ‘s Somaya Reece, and British reality star Calum Best. Kate Beckinsale: Michael Bay Body-Shamed Me!

Director Michael Bay is kind of a jerk, and everybody knows it. While promoting her new movie, Love & Friendship on The Graham Norton Show in the UK on May 27th, Kate Beckinsale brought up the fact that her Pearl Harbor director, Michael Bay was very good at body-shaming women. “I think he was baffled by me because my boobs weren’t bigger than my head and I wasn’t blonde,” Beckinsale said when they made the 2001 blockbuster. “I’d just had my daughter and had lost weight, but I was told that if I got the part, I’d have to work out. And I just didn’t understand why a 1940s nurse would do that.” (For the record, Beckinsale has admitted to having an eating disorder in the past) Even after filming wrapped, Bay was still obnoxious as hell. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Have Struggled with Eating Disorders “When we were promoting the film, Michael was asked why he had chosen Ben and Josh, and he said, ‘I have worked with Ben before and I love him, and Josh is so manly and a wonderful actor,’” Beckinsale recalled. “Then when he was asked about me, he’d say, ‘Kate wasn’t so attractive that she would alienate the female audience.’ He kept saying it everywhere we went — and we went to a lot of places!” Beckinsale isn’t the first actress to call out Bay for his somewhat misogynistic tendancies. Megan Fox claimed he was a nightmare to work for during Transformers . ” He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” Fox told Wonderland in 2009. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. “He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him. He’s vulnerable and fragile in real life and then on set he’s a tyrant.” That…sounds like someone I would never want to have dinner with.  Ever. Cincinnati Zoo Parents May Be Charged in Connection to Gorilla Shooting

The fallout from this weekend’s tragic shooting at the Cincinnati Zoo continues. As previously documented, and as depicted in the video below, a four-year old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at this famous facility on Saturday, May 28. After the gigantic animals grabbed hold of the boy and started thrashing him about, officials were left with no choice but to have an employee fatally shoot the gorilla, who was 17 years old and named Harambe. Was the animal protecting the toddler? Hurting him? About to cause him real harm? Watch the surveillance footage and try to decipher for yourself: Cincinnati Zoo Gorilla Killed to Save Toddler’s Life: Who’s to Blame? Debate has raged all over the Internet in regard to the incident, with critics wondering why the zoo could not simply use a tranquilizer on the gorilla. The zoo has responded by saying the tranquilizer would have taken too long to go into effect. Others have placed the blame squarely at the feet of the boy’s parents, specifically his mother, Michelle Gregg. In response to the criticism she has received online, Gregg posted (and then deleted) a Facebook message that referred to the situation as an “accident” and which thanked God for keeping her son safe . Celebrities from all walks of entertainment life have also weighed in on the death of Harambe: View Slideshow: Harambe Mourned, Celebrated by Celebrities Everywhere Now, sources have confirmed that Cincinnati police are looking into Gregg and Deonne Dickerson, the boy’s father, even though the latter was not at the zoo when his son fell into the gorilla pit.  Authorities are reportedly reviewing “the actions of the parents/family that led up to the incident,” according to TMZ, implying they may be charged with the crime of negligence. Do you think they ought to be? Or was this just a very unfortunate accident that has taken on a life of its own due to the Internet? An insider also says the Zoo is NOT under investigation of any kind. It falls under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Mark Salling: Glee Star INDICTED on Child Porn Charges

Mark Salling, former star of the hit show Glee , has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. The 33-year-old was indicted on two counts of child porn after he was arrested and his laptop seized last December, reports TMZ. Salling’s computer and a flash drive allegedly stored thousands of images and videos depicting child porn. Images of a “prepubescent minor and a minor under 12” were found. “Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed and every time it is viewed,” said U.S. Attorney Eileen Decker. Salling could face up to 20 years in prison on the count of receiving child pornography and 20 years for possession. At the time of the December arrest, the actor was booked in downtown Los Angeles and later released on $20,000 bail. When the news first broke, friends close to him were shocked . He had a reputation as a huge flirt, even coming off as “skeezy,” according to one Hollywood insider.  However, they didn’t expect this. “This isn’t the guy I know at all,” a friend of Salling said at the time. “I have to believe his computer was hacked.” Unfortunately, this was not the first sex-related offense Salling has been accused of. In 2013, an ex-girlfriend accused Salling of sexual battery after forcing her to have sex without a condom and later pushing her to the ground. They eventually settled out of court for $2.7 million. Harlem Celebrates Foodie Scene With Annual “Harlem EatUp!” Festival

Annual Festival Celebrates Harlem’s Cuisine And Culture Thousands of people flocked to Harlem over the weekend for a festival that showcases Harlem’s food scene. Harlem restaurant mainstays like Sylvia’s and Melba’s took their places alongside newcomers like Blvd Bistro and Settepani for Harlem EatUp!, a two-day festival where chefs serve their restaurant’s signature dishes. There were culinary delights like smoked shrimp and potato corn salad from Blujeen and fried chicken sandwiches from Harlem Shake. The Harlem Chocolate Factory served a whiskey chocolate tart, while Barawine’s chefs dished up yellow fin tuna tartare and shrimp and grits came courtesy of Blvd Bistro. The festival is a boon to business owners, who said Harlem EatUp! not only celebrates the neighborhood’s cuisine, but introduces them to locals and visitors alike. “It’s just so nice to be in this environment around other like minded people here to support the community,” said longtime Harlem resident Adria Bell, of Ida Preserves, who served blueberry jam cornbread at the festival. “And for people who are non-residents to kind of get an idea of what we’re doing in Harlem and the new, amazing businesses that are opening up and the ones that have been around and are still going strong.” Shay Wood, the co-owner of the Harlem Haberdashery boutique, agreed. “We get a lot of local traffic, but this drives a lot of different traffic from different areas in the city,” Wood said. “We get a lot of new impressions, fans and followers through these events so we love coming here.” Celebrities like Freddie Jackson , Neil Patrick Harris, “The Chew” host Carla Hall and Gayle King were among the attendees at the festival, co-founded by celebrity chef and entrepreneur Marcus Samuelsson. The event attracted a slew of celebrity chefs, like Emeril Lagasse, who whipped up some yummy smelling ribs with restaurateur Melba Wilson on the festival’s main stage. “These are cooking just like Harlem is cooking,” Lagasse said. “I asked Melba, what could I do in Harlem? And she directed me to a little place called the Storefront School up here in Harlem. And I rebuilt the entire kitchen 15 years ago for the Storefront School – and they’re still cooking there. You keep cooking too!” Hit the flip for more pics from the festival:
