Daniel Dion Dies; Brother of Celine Dion Was 59

More sad news for one of the world’s most beloved singers today, as TMZ is reporting that Celine Dion’s brother Daniel Dion has passed away. The news comes just days after the world learned that Celine’s husband, Rene Angelil, had died from throat cancer.  Daniel, 59, was also battling throat cancer, and it had reportedly spread to his brain and tongue in recent weeks. Yesterday, Celine’s sister Claudette issued a statement informing the public that Daniel had been given just hours to live . “It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain,” Claudette told the press.  “He is 59 years old, very young to be the end of life…We are with Daniel, day and night.” Celine has reportedly canceled all of her upcoming concerts in Las Vegas in order to mourn her husband and brother, and be by her family during this incredibly difficult time. The singer is keeping a low public profile at the moment, and is expected to remain out of the spotlight for the foreseeable future. Daniel was one of Celine’s 13 brothers and sisters. Michael Galeota Dies; Disney Channel Star Was 31

Michael Galeota – the actor best known for his starring role on the Disney Channel series The Jersey – has passed away at the age of 31. The cause of death is not known at this time. Galeota had reportedly been suffering from hypertension, high cholesterol and diverticulitis at the time of his untimely passing. Authorities reportedly believe the former actor died from “natural causes,” so it’s not clear what role any of those conditions played. According to TMZ, neither foul play nor drug abuse is thought to have played a role in Galeota’s passing, however. Friends say he had a history of failing to follow through with medical advice. Though best known for his performance on The Jersey,  which ran for three seasons from 1999-2004, Galeota appeared in dozens of projects during his adolescent years. Galeota’s resume includes small parts in several films, as well as TV. He landed a recurring spot on Ally McBeal as the younger version of Gil Bellows’ character, and a performance on ER at the height of the medical drama’s popularity, among other roles. While he unfortunately joined the ranks of child stars whose careers faltered when they reached adulthood, Galeota remained a popular and well-liked figure amongst SoCal actors. When friends were unable to reach him over the weekend, one of them decided to climb through the window of Galeota’s Glendale home, where his body was found. R.I.P. Charlie Carver, Popular Teen Wolf Star, Comes Out as Gay

Charlie Carver, a 27-year old actor best known for roles on Teen Wolf and The Leftovers, has confirmed that he is gay. The star made this reveal in a lengthy Instagram post “As a young boy, I knew I wanted to be an actor. I knew I wanted to be a lot of things! I thought I wanted to be a painter, a soccer player, a stegosaurus… But the acting thing stuck,” Carver wrote. He then got to the heart of the topic: “It was around that age that I also knew, however abstractly, that I was different from some of the other boys in my grade. “Over time, this abstract ‘knowing’ grew and articulated itself through a painful gestation marked by feelings of despair and alienation, ending in a climax of saying three words out loud: ‘I am gay.’ “I said them to myself at first, to see how they felt. They rang true, and I hated myself for them. I was twelve. “It would take me a few years before I could repeat them to anyone else, in the meantime turning the phrase over and over in my mouth until I felt comfortable and sure enough to let the words pour out again, this time to my family.” View Slideshow: 36 Celebrities Who Are Out and Proud! Along with his message, Carver shared a photo on social media of the following quote: Be who you needed when you were younger. Carver’s post is long, heartfelt and personal… and it concludes as follows: “So now, let the record show this – I self-identify as gay. And does that really matter anymore? “As a young man, I needed a young man in Hollywood to say that – and without being a dick about it, I owe it to myself, more than anything, to be who I needed when I was younger.” We admire Carver’s courage in coming out and we wish him the best.

Amandla Stenberg Comes Out as Bisexual

Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg took over Snapchat for Teen Vogue for an evening, and used the platform to confirm her sexual orientation: she’s bisexual. “It’s a really, really hard thing to be silenced and it’s deeply bruising to fight against your identity and to mold yourself into shapes that you just shouldn’t be in,” she said to camera. “As someone who identifies as a black, bisexual woman I’ve been through it, and it hurts, and it’s awkward and it’s uncomfortable.”  Stenberg appears on the cover of Teen Vogue’s February issue, which also features a cover story and interview with the actress, written by Solange Knowles. At just 17, Stenberg is already recognized as an advocate for empowering young black women to be themselves no matter what, embrace their cultural identity and band together to debunk stereotypes and racism. “Here I am being myself and it’s definitely hard and vulnerable and it’s definitely a process but I’m learning and I’m growing,” she said. There certainly seems to be a trend with young stars coming out as not-heterosexual – be it bisexual, pansexual or gender fluid. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are planning an over-the-top marriage vow renewal ceremony this summer, according to reports. The motives of Kimye are suspect to say the least, however. The duo’s second wedding anniversary is coming up in May, and what better way to celebrate than rake it in and rejuvenate their popularity? Yes, that was cynical. But would you really be surprised? “They want this to be a tradition, with an extravagant celebration instead of anything low-key,” an insider told Radar of the celebrities. In typical fashion, “they both want next year’s ceremony to take place in Paris, where Kanye still wants to set up a home eventually.” Or at least build an epic mansion there for two years while living with Kris Jenner, then turn around and sell it without ever moving in. ‘Ye is White House bound in 2020, after all. Don’t forget. According to the celebrity gossip sources that bring us this story – and common sense – matriarch Kris Jenner is ALL ABOUT this plan. “Kris has has told them they’d be crazy not to cash in, because their stock is so high right now and they’d easily make tens of millions.” Naturally, the Momager is already pondering all the “sponsorships and media deals” she could score by “selling the rights to the event.” While Kim insists she wants to keep things classy, “It’s highly likely she’ll cave in and do whatever for the cash if the offers are right.” Especially with  Keeping Up with the Kardashians ratings in free fall mode and Kris resorting to more and more desperate measures. Dakota Johnson Nearly Flashes PCA Audience

Dakota Johnson won big at the 2016 People's Choice Awards , taking home the trophy for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress. She then almost gave viewers a look at her big breasts. Nominated in this category for her role as Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, the actress was sitting in the front row (wearing a sparkling silver dress) when she had her name called by presenters Leslie Mann and Alison Brie. And Johnson made it on stage without any issue. But then she hugged Mann and her fellow star's hands accidentally caused some mischief to Johnson's ensemble, causing her wardrobe to malfunction. It wasn't enough to turn the awards ceremony into an NC-17 affair, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your view. But it did give Johnson an opportunity to make the following crack, based on her racy role in the aforementioned hit movie: “Well, it’s not like nobody here hasn’t already seen my boobs.” HA! We love it. Following a more serious speech, the star concluded: “Um, okay, that’s it, I don’t know, bye!” Johnson will next be seen opposite those very presenters, Mann and Brie, in How To Be Single , which opens in February. She starts filming the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel ( Fifty Shades Darker ) around the same time, so it'll be a busy year for her. Clay Aiken SLAMS American Idol: What a Snoozefest!

In honor of its final season kicking off, American Idol brought back a few fan favorites on its Wednesday night premiere. Clay Aiken was not one of them. And we have a feeling he won’t be making an appearance on the show that made him famous any time soon, either. The Season 2 finalist live-Tweeted his American Idol viewing experience this week, telling followers it was the first time he tuned in for the show in about 10 years. And it’s safe to say he was not impressed. “Well… now I know why the ratings are down,” Aiken wrote early on, adding: “Oh good Lord… those boring ass responses from the judges!? Where is Simon when you need him!? That guy need a hook to pull him off stage.” There are many reasons why American Idol has lost popularity over the years, from other singing shows such as The Voice rising up to simple viewer fatigue. But Aiken isn’t wrong. Losing Simon Cowell was a major blow to the franchise. It’s been a struggle to replace someone with his expertise, honesty and humor. In Aiken’s view, he was the only reason to tune in on a weekly basis: “It’s VERY clear now that @SimonCowell was the reason @AmericanIdol was a hit. I’ve watched root canals more entertaining than these judges.” Aiken finished second on Season 2 to Ruben Studdard. He has gone on to star on Broadway and even run for political office in North Carolina . He is unafraid to speak his mind . “Leave it to the contestants from #Raleigh NC to totally make tonight’s show worth watching!!” he also Tweeted, remaining loyal to his home state. Upon receiving backlash for his rebuke of American Idol, Aiken replied that he only spoke this way out of love… and frustration: “When your favorite team that you’ve cheered for for years happens to play a shitty game, you’re absolutely allowed to be upset about it. “We’re all more critical of the things we care about most.”
