Dwight Howard Refuses To Play For Coach Dwight Howard is coming off like a big jerk. According to his sources, Howard is still upset with Van Gundy confirming Pingalore’s report from earlier this month that Howard went to Magic management asking for Van Gundy to be fired. On Friday, the Magic had their physical therapist Ed Manalo travel with Howard to Los Angeles, where Howard went to have his back diagnosed. Dr. Robert Watkins, of Marina del Rey, California, diagnosed Howard with a herniated disk. After visiting Los Angeles, Pingalore’s sources confirmed that Howard was adamant about joining the team in Cleveland but the Magic asked him to return to Orlando. Howard would eventually travel to Cleveland. However, Howard sat in the hotel for the game Sunday evening and rejoined the team as they traveled back to Orlando. “It was strange since that Howard wanted to go to Cleveland and offer support but never made it to the game,” said one of Pingalore’s sources. Howard would also likely sit out the postseason, according to the source. Remember when Dwight was the happy-go-lucky muscular guy with the Superman cape? Now he’s got baby momma issues and is acting like a total hoe on the court. It was all good a week ago. Source More On Bossip! Holo-Pac parodies place the late rapper in the cast of ‘Titanic’ and Jem’s backup band. By Kara Klenk Tupac’s hologram performance at Coachella 2012 Photo: AV Concepts It’s been a crazy week for Tupac Shakur, who, despite having passed away in 1996, has been all over the news after his hologram performance at Coachella. The intriguing yet creepy display has sparked plenty of debate and questions about the future of touring and whether holograms disrespect the memory of late music legends. Never one to miss a viral joke opportunity, the Internet has scooped up Holo-Pac and run with it, resulting in Holo-Pac memes spreading to the far corners of the web. Trailing the success of other parody accounts such as @AngiesRightLeg and @DarthVader, the Twittersphere welcomed @HologramTupac this week, which impressively garnered more than 30,000 followers in only a few days. @HologramTupac tweets at celebrities and fans alike, often pausing to clarify that he is not a zombie, which apparently has been a point of confusion for some. Animated GIFs have been popping up everywhere, animating the Shakur hologram into classic movies like Harry Potter , Star Wars, and Titanic . Even more still photos have been Photoshopped to turn Holo-Pac into a member of the Starship Enterprise or, fittingly, of Jem’s backup band the Holograms . Others have taken the meme past the rapper and come up with dream lineups of other deceased stars. A parody Coachella lineup featuring solely hologram acts boasts headliners like Michael Jackson, The Clash and Mozart. And just when you thought they’d thought of everything, you discover an animated GIF of Tupac as the popular “Haters Gonna Hate” meme. That’s right. It’s a meme of a meme! Did your head just explode from the meta cleverness of it all? Did we miss any of the great Holo-Pac memes? Post it on our Facebook page! I grew up reading comic books and now I get a chance to star in my own. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we are working on,” said Sitch, a.k.a. Mike Sorrentino . We know, we thought this was a joke at first too. Added John Macaluso, the CEO of Wizard World: “Wizard World is so excited to partner with one of pop culture’s greatest stars. Mike will broaden our relationships with celebrities to new areas that leverage our access to the media, the fans, and especially our ability to bring comic book characters to life.” The series of comic books based on stories by Mike and his family will be written and drawn by some of the comic book industry’s leading artists and writers. You can even catch the soon-to-be illustrated family on tour, as they are slated to appear at several Wizard World conventions to promote their characters. No word on whether Mike’s super powers will entail the ability to survive with BAC over 0.5 or extreme tendencies to stir up drama where there is none. [Photo: WENN.com]
‘He’s a guy who loves challenges,’ enthuses director Adam Shankman, as part of MTV News’ Summer Movie Preview Week. By Amy Wilkinson Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages” Photo: Warner Bros This summer, the city — and the cinema — will be built on rock and roll when ” Rock of Ages ” packs its ax, journeying from Broadway to a theater near you. Set in Los Angeles and featuring the biggest jams of the ’80s, the movie musical follows busboy/ aspiring rocker Drew Boley (played by Diego Boneta ) as he falls for new-in-town Sherrie Christian (played by Julianne Hough ) and lands a gig opening for rock legend Stacee Jaxx ( Tom Cruise ). All the while, greater forces are at work trying to convert the drug- and sex-fueled Sunset Strip into a safer, gentler piece of prime real estate, much to the chagrin of the bandannaed masses. In anticipation of opening night (June 15), MTV News caught up with director Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”) to chat about Tom Cruise’s crazy work ethic, ’80s nostalgia and the perils of working with a baboon. MTV News : Movie musicals are nothing new for you. What is it about translating a work from stage to screen that is so compelling? Adam Shankman : It’s a matter of, I guess, finding a story you enjoy telling and a medium you enjoy. I grew up doing musical theater, so it’s something that’s in my bones, and I love it. I feel it’s always informed a lot of the way I think and the way I approach material. It’s just sort of a natural thing for me to be doing, given my history with music and dance and all that. All I ever wanted to be in my life was a chorus boy, so how things turned out couldn’t be a bigger surprise to me. MTV : What was it specifically about “Rock of Ages” that drew you in? Shankman : I thought, “Holy moly!” Here’s an opportunity to make a musical truly for straight men. I mean, straight guys walk into the theater and they know every word of the music. So it’s a completely different experience from girls having to drag their boyfriends to boys dragging their girlfriends. MTV : There’s been a lot of ’80s nostalgia in pop culture lately. Is that an era you’re particularly nostalgic for? Shankman : I mean, that was my time. I graduated high school in ’82. My dad’s office was on Sunset. I saw my first concert at the Roxy. I was choreographing music videos in ’87 when, it happens, I actually choreographed a video for someone whose music is in the movie. It was, you know, the last time I remember everything being kind of innocent. Everything kind of shifted then, suddenly fun became drug addiction and crazy, casual sex became AIDS. It was the end of all of that. MTV : Diego Boneta, who plays Drew, is a fairly under-the-radar talent right now. How did he land the role? Shankman : His audition just sort of stopped me in my tracks. I saw it on my casting website. I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of guys on there, and his stopped me because there was no acting — he just was that guy. And he also sang so great. In the best casting moments, you’re looking at somebody and saying, “How much do I have to do with this person to get them there?” I just looked at him and he just dropped into it very easily and naturally. And then, of course, there’s that face. MTV : One of the film’s many familiar faces is Tom Cruise, though I have a feeling this is a Tom Cruise we’ve never seen before. Shankman : We have definitely never seen him do this before. A lot of the joy in this for him was just the adventure of trying something that was so foreign. I think part of the reason that he said yes to doing it was that he was so stunned that he was asked, and he thought, “Oh my god, of all the millions of things I’ve done in my career, nothing has ever been like this.” He’s a guy who loves challenges. MTV : We did see him sing in “Top Gun.” Shankman : Not like this. MTV : For fans of the original, how closely does the film hem to the Broadway musical? Shankman : It’s pretty close. I mean, I changed who the villains are. They were Europeans in the play, and I wanted them to be more L.A.-based so it had more of a local resonance. The character Lonnie, the Russell Brand character, isn’t the narrator. I didn’t think the movie should have a narrator. But in terms of spirit, the boy-meets-girl and what happens to the boy and girl is very close. MTV : Is there a favorite musical number for you? Shankman : I never cease to be in awe of “Pour Some Sugar on Me” because it was Tom on his first day of shooting, and he spent the day performing it for a giant crowd, and Def Leppard showed up on set and were there. That was an incredibly crazy, magical day. MTV : Conversely, there’s always a scene or two that give a director pause. Any particularly difficult moments for you on the set? Shankman : Well, I have one of those that turned into one of the best scenes in the movie. There’s a giant protest outside of the Bourbon, where Catherine Zeta-Jones and all the anti-Bourbon moms and all the rockers are fighting and they do a mash-up of “We Built This City” and “We’re Not Going to Take It.” Then, you know, we had the baboon there and the baboon got loose, and it was a nightmare and nobody could move because it was going to eat your face off. And then we were standing there for 20 minutes stuck on the street. Bizarre, bizarre day. On top of which, it was just really daunting because there was a lot going on. We had Sebastian Bach and Debbie Gibson and all these rockers there from that period. It was insane. Pop singer had to participate in a dance-off with Jaleel White before getting the bad news. By Kelley L. Carter Karina Smirnoff and Gavin DeGraw on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The savvy producers at ABC’s hit reality dance competition switched things up for fans during Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show. Instead of making fans sweat it out until the final minute to find out which celebrity dancer and his/her professional partner would be given the boot based on a combination of judges’ scores and fan votes, they turned the tables a bit. The bottom two couples — pop singer Gavin DeGraw and his partner Karina Smirnoff and childhood actor Jaleel White and his partner Kym Johnson — had to duke it out on the dance floor. The couples danced side by side in a duel of cha-chas, with the judges having the final say about who would be saved and who would be going home. In the end, it really wasn’t much of a shocker. DeGraw was told he’d danced his last dance on the show — he’d been the bottom scorer on Monday night, as was pretty much the case since the competition began. Monday night’s theme was Latin night, and his samba failed to impress the judges. That said, the judges told DeGraw that they based their decision solely on the dance he turned in Tuesday night, however, and not what he’d done in previous performances. “It’s been amazing to be part of the show,” DeGraw said after learning that he’d be going home, adding that Smirnoff was a great mentor. Next week, the celebrities take on Motown week.

Ted Nugent: I Will Be Dead Or In Jail If Obama Is Re-elected Rocker and noted gun enthusiast Ted Nugent is stirring up attention over comments he made about President Obama and his administration at a National Rifle Association conference in St. Louis over the weekend. As the website Right Wing Watch reports, Nugent called Obama a criminal and denounced his “vile, evil, America-hating administration” which is “wiping its ass with the Constitution.” He went on to say, “If Barack Obama becomes the President in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” Nugent, who has already endorsed Mitt Romney for president, urged each person to get a “couple of thousand” people to cast their ballot for the presumptive Republican challenger. “If you can’t galvanize and promote and recruit people to vote for Mitt Romney, we’re done,” Nugent said. “We’ll be a suburb of Indonesia next year. Our president, attorney general, our vice president, Hillary Clinton — they’re criminals, they’re criminals.” Do you agree with this guy or is he just flat out crazy? Source More On Bossip!
