On Tuesday, the pop star tweeted , “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay.” Some fans thought the tweet wasn’t exactly keeping with the pop star’s “You’re perfect the way you are” message and that her choice of the “#PopStarsDontEat” hashtag could be misinterpreted as encouraging eating disorders because she posits herself as a role model to her fans. The National Eating Disorder Association even weighed in, hitting its own Twitter account to write, “Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?” While it seems clear that Gaga was joking — who hasn’t dove into a salad wishing it was something else? — the comment does appear out of character for the star, who has spoken publicly about her own struggles with an eating disorder as a teen. Using that particular hashtag might have been a poor choice, but it’s safe to say Lady Gaga wasn’t knowingly making light of eating disorders — and, otherwise, wasn’t she mostly just encouraging exercise and healthy eating? Gaga tweets often about all sort of less-than-healthful habits, from drinking (“after 12 margaritas my phone was confiscated”) to, well, other things (“princess xena of xanaxland has lil secrets in her inbox”). Why she is being scrutinized for making an observation about something we already know — that celebrities engage in intense fitness regimens to meet the unrealistic expectations placed on their appearance — is kind of a mystery. Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban Speaks On Firing Lamar Odom So basically Mark Cuban was like “Is you is or is you ain’t a Maverick?”…and Lammy was like — “No, I’m a Kardashian, and I gotta go suck on my wife’s tweet for the cameras now.” Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban , saying he hopes Lamar Odom’s departure is “addition by subtraction,” confirmed that a heated halftime confrontation between the owner and 13-year veteran was the breaking point that prompted the team and player to part ways. During halftime of his final game with the Mavs, Odom and Cuban had the exchange in the visitors locker room Saturday night in Memphis. Cuban confirmed Tuesday evening the crux of the heated halftime confrontation was Cuban questioning Odom’s commitment. Odom, who had played only four minutes in the first half, reacted angrily to the question, shouting “stop playing games” several times. Odom did not take his seat on the bench until after the third quarter began. “Well, yeah,” Cuban said when asked whether that exchange was the final straw. “Just his response to it. Everybody goes through ups and downs. Every player does. We tried to put him in a position to succeed. You guys saw it, saw what we did. It didn’t work. “And I just asked him, does he want to go for it or not? Is he in or is he out? I think he thought we were playing poker. I just didn’t get a commitment. And that was the end.” Cuban admitted Tuesday that Odom’s lack of commitment, which manifested itself in a lack of effort on the floor and habitual tardiness to team meetings, practices and shootarounds despite living across the street from the American Airlines Center, had been an issue all season. Cuban said he tried to turn the situation into a positive “the first 17 times,” but, with the defending NBA champions fighting for a playoff berth, the organization finally lost patience with Odom. “We hope it’s addition by subtraction,” Cuban said. “Just put him in the Tariq Abdul-Wahad category and move on.” Abdul-Wahad, a name uttered with disdain in the Dallas front office, played a total of 18 games for the Mavericks after being acquired in a blockbuster trade from the Denver Nuggets in 2002. Abdul-Wahad was banished from the team, but he remained on the Mavs’ payroll for five seasons. SMH. Sounds like Lammy was acting like a lil beyotch…and seriously though??? Wait, WHAT?!?! George Zimmerman’s Attorney’s Withdraw From His Defense Attorneys for a Florida neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot an unarmed black teen have withdrawn as his counsel, saying they have lost contact with him. Attorney Craig Sonner said Tuesday in a news conference they haven’t heard from George Zimmerman since Sunday. They said that against their advice, Zimmerman contacted the special prosecutor who will decide if he should face charges. Zimmerman is at the center of an investigation over the shooting of Trayvon Martin, 17. Zimmerman says he shot Martin in self-defense after following him in a gated community in Sanford on Feb. 26. Martin, who was unarmed, was black. Zimmerman’s father is white and his mother is Hispanic. The lack of an arrest has inspired nationwide protests and some claims of racial profiling, which Zimmerman’s supporters deny. In the CNN press conference that is playing live right now, the lawyers claim that they have never actually met George Zimmerman in person, however they do still believe that he acted in self-defense. He wont’ even give me a collect call,” Sonner said. Despite stepping away from Zimmerman as a client, both attorneys say they continue to believe he acted in self-defense. “We frankly believe the correct decision will be to not charge him,” Uhrig said. The attorneys say they know of Zimmerman’s location and have his personal phone number but have been unable to reach him directly for 48 hours. “George can’t go out and buy a Diet Coke. There’s a bounty on his head,” Uhrig said. “We’ve been able to handle the case by phone up this point,” Sonner said. “But there were face-t0-face meeting scheduled.” Both attorneys repeatedly refused to reveal Zimmerman’s location but insinuated that he is no longer in Florida. “You can stop looking in Florida. look much further away than that,” Uhrig said. Fired (But Free-Alive) Detective In Sean Bell Shooting “I’m Not Sorry… No Apologies” [Video] This fool is crazy: A detective who fired the first shots in the 2006 shooting of an unarmed man on his wedding day says he believes his life was on the line that night and said he has “no regrets.” “I’m not looking back, no apologies, no regrets. I came to grips with what I did,” Gescard Isnora told News 4 in his first extensive public comments about the shooting of Sean Bell. “I am able to sleep at night. I am here talking to you.” Isnora and two other officers were acquitted of criminal charges in a 2008 non-jury trial. Last fall, he was found guilty of violating NYPD guidelines by using unnecessary force, and was fired two weeks ago by Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. Isnora was the first of the NYPD officers who opened fire Nov. 25, 2006, firing 11 shots. In the 50-bullet barrage, Bell was killed and two of his friends, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield, were wounded. No weapon was found, sparking accusations and months of protests that the NYPD was too quick to use deadly force. At Isnora’s disciplinary trial in October, attorney Adam Sheldon described Isnora’s actions as “outrageous, unimaginable and unjustified.” But Isnora, speaking to News 4, blamed the actions of the men leaving Bell’s bachelor party at Club Kalua in Queens that night. Isnora, who was at the club on an undercover operation, said he heard threats of gun violence outside the club after the men got into a confrontation with a man named Fabio Coicou. “Joseph Guzman said, ‘Go get my gun,’” said Isnora. “And there was another individual that said ‘Let’s ‘f’ ‘em up.” Isnora said he called for backup and followed the men as they rushed to their car. But the other officers did not arrive in time and Isnora said he felt he had to act. “I have to stop this car. If I don’t stop this car, Fabio Coicou gets shot. I served as Fabio Coicou’s last line of defense,” Isnora said. “They would have gone around the corner and definitely gotten to him.” Isnora said he pulled out his shield and his gun and ordered the car to stop. But Bell drove the car right at him, Isnora said, hitting his leg. Bell then ran the vehicle back and forth several more times, according to Isnora. “What people don’t understand is, a vehicle is a weapon as well. He used that vehicle. He basically wanted to run me over,” he said. Seconds later, fearing Guzman was reaching and raising a weapon, Isnora said, he opened fire. In grand jury testimony, Guzman denied saying anything about a gun outside the club; other witnesses also testified that the dispute with Coicou ended peacefully. Guzman and Benefield testified that they never heard the officers yell warnings before opening fire and tried to drive away because they feared for their lives. Isnora maintains he resorted to deadly force only after Bell bumped him with the car and smashed into an unmarked police van, and after he spotted Guzman make a sudden move as though he were going for a gun. “I’m still looking into the car. I noticed Guzman making an arm movement,” Isnora told News 4. “I yelled ‘gun’ very, very instinctively and fired my weapon.” Isnora fired 11 times into the car at Guzman just as the backup team arrived. Fellow officers would fire 39 times. “What is the right amount? What is not the right amount? In a heated situation, you are not counting bullets,” Isnora said. When asked whether firing a total of 50 shots was excessive, Isnora said: “People making those comments do not know the job that undercovers do. It was just survival at that time and moment, and the decision they took left me with no other choice.” Isnora said he didn’t learn until two days later in the press that the men in the car did not have a gun. “It’s easy in hindsight, it’s easy to say what could have been done, but right then and there, every step I took was correct,” said Isnora. Bell and Guzman “set the events in motion,” he added. Kelly fired Isnora last month, saying he broke NYPD rules by emerging from his undercover role before backup arrived and by firing into a vehicle filled with unarmed men. The city also paid more than $7 million to the Bell family and to Guzman and Benefield. His pension was also revoked. Detectives Michael Oliver and Marc Cooper were forced out but allowed to keep their pensions, a move that did not sit well with members of the Bell family. “It’s a slap on the wrist,” said Bell’s father, William Bell. “They’re going to get another job, their life is going to go on and mine’s just stuck.” Isnora said he is angry and feels betrayed the police commissioner and mayor. “I was fed to the wolves, if you want to use that,” Isnora said. “That’s exactly what the commissioner and the mayor did. I was there doing my job.” Isnora said city leaders, from the beginning, “were basically saving themselves. They couldn’t care about the rank and file members,” Isnora said. “I guess if it doesn’t look right to them, they will head for the hills. And that is what they did. They ran for the hills and they left us behind.” He said the police officers in the Amadou Diallo case and other controversial police shootings did not have their pensions taken away. Isnora grew up in Bushwick, the son of a Haitian immigrant who drove MTA buses for a living. His mother came to the U.S. from Mexico and worked child-care related jobs. Time’s are tough, but it can NOT be this serious : Authorities have indicted five people in central China for involvement in illegal organ trading after a teenager sold one of his kidneys to buy an iPhone and an iPad. Prosecutors in the city of Chenzhou charged the suspects with intentional injury for organizing the removal and transplant of a kidney from a 17-year-old high school student surnamed Wang, the official Xinhua News Agency said late Friday. Xinhua described one of the defendants named He Wei as being broke and frustrated over gambling debts. It said he asked another defendant to look for organ donors in online chat rooms and someone else to lease an operating room for the transplant, which took place in April last year. He received 220,000 yuan ($35,000) for the transplant, gave the student 22,000 yuan ($3,500) and shared the remaining money with the other defendants and several medical staff involved in the operation, Xinhua said. When the student returned home, he was asked how he could afford a new iPhone and an iPad and he told his mother that he sold one of his kidneys, the report said. The Southern Daily newspaper reported last month that other individuals have sold, or seriously considered selling, their kidneys to earn money for reasons that included paying off large debts, making a payment on a smartphone, or paying for an abortion for a girlfriend. “Without facing complete hardship, these young people born after the 1990s made rash decisions. In the choice between their bodies and materialism, they resolutely chose the latter,” the official Communist Party newspaper Guangming Daily said in an editorial late last month about the Southern Daily report. “In today’s society where desires are infinite and demands are boundless … blindly competing with others in the pursuit of high-end ‘technology’ will gradually ruin lives,” it said.
