Must Hear: John Legend’s “Tonight” From “Think Like A Man” Soundtrack [NEW MUSIC]

Link:

John Legend is back. We haven’t heard him on the radio since 2008′s “Green Light” but we have a feeling his latest track will get tons of airplay. On “Tonight” from the “Think Like A Man” soundtrack, his trademark raspy vocals lilt over a slowed-down electro jam with just enough knock-and-hiss that we can see it being played as the final song in a club before the lights turn on. John gets cocky on the chorus – “Baby, tonight’s the night I let you know / Baby, tonight’s the night we lose control / Baby, tonight you need that, tonight believe that / Tonight, I’ll be the best you ever had / I don’t wanna brag, but I’ll be / The best you ever had” – while Ludacris, less subtle with his words, turns the sexy up. It will be available on 1/31 on iTunes. RELATED LINKS: John Legend & Model Girlfriend Are Engaged! Mariah Carey & John Legend Duet On “When Christmas Comes” [NEW MUSIC]

Bossip Exclusive: True Or False — Is Lorena Cartagena, Fat Joe’s Wife Ready For Divorce After Rapper Caught Creepin’ With Emily B. And Another Young Jawn?

Word on the street is Fat Joe and Lorena Cartagena are calling it quits after 17 YEARS of matrimony-dom! According to well-placed Bossip sources, for over a year now Lorena has suspected Joe of cheating with a specific young Indian-looking Muslim woman from Dubai. Pictures of the pair were sent to Lorena’s phone by a Terror Squad associate and eventually Lorena learned not only of places they’d slept together, but also that he was flying the chick all over the place… going so far as to accompany her in public — even to Knicks games! Our source also confirms the longtime rumors of Joe being involved with “Love & Hip-Hop’s” Emily Bustamante, Fab’s baby mother. Pictures coming up soon… SMH. Guess this is what happens when fat guys can see their d*ck again. More On Bossip! Kim Kardashian Actually Does Some Good

Reluktantly, we must give kredit where kredit is due: Kim Kardashian has donated $50,000 to The Trevor Project, an organization that provides suicide prevention assistance to lesbian, gay and bisexual teens. Kim raised those funds herself during a trip to the Cantor Fitzgerald offices in NYC last September, where she actually did some work on the trading floor. “The firm lost more than 600 employees in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 and on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, they donated all revenues from their trades to charities around the world,” Kardashian blogged soon after her visit. “I was honored to take part!” Darn her for saying something we cannot mock. Other celebrities involved in The Trevor Project include Kevin McHale, Daniel Radcliffe, Adam Lambert and Kathy Griffin.

Common Brings ‘LUV’ To Sundance

Sundance represents an opportunity to ‘[push] forward with Common as an actor and as a producer,’ the rapper tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Common at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images PARK CITY, Utah — When you’re making your debut as a producer and lead actor in a feature film, it doesn’t hurt to surround yourself with stellar actors like Danny Glover, Charles S. Dutton, Dennis Haysbert and Michael K. Williams. With talent like that on your side, it’s nearly impossible not to produce good work. That’s Common ‘s hope, at least. The rapper/actor makes his first turn as a leading man in a feature film in “LUV,” the Sundance Film Festival drama about an ex-con who leaves prison and strives to mentor his troubled nephew upon release. The film represents a lot of firsts for Common: It’s his first starring role and it’s the first movie he’s ever acted in and produced to appear at Sundance. “This is something that is me,” Common told MTV News at the fest. “And it’s a part of what I want to do pushing forward with Common as an actor and as a producer.” The Chicago MC is no stranger to appearing onscreen, of course. He’s had memorable roles in movies like “Wanted” and “Terminator Salvation,” and he stars on the AMC western “Hell on Wheels.” But this is Common’s first time in an independent movie, and the differences between the indie world and the studio system became abundantly clear to him very early on. “Things are just different. But what’s still cool about it is you’re really using your artistic creativity to come together and make the best thing, because you don’t have that many resources,” he said. “You don’t have the bigger budgets, you don’t have the things that [studio films have]. You need to use total creativity to make things rise. “So this is a first for me — and it’s a great first,” he added. The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. Chris Rock Perplexed By Spike Lee’s Sundance Tirade

‘I just asked a normal question,’ Rock tells MTV News about what prompted the director’s passionate criticism against Hollywood. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Chris Rock Photo: MTV News PARK CITY, Utah — The old refrain of “more money, more problems” seems to apply to Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer,” the director’s new drama he unveiled at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday. During a Q&A session following the screening of the filmmaker’s religion-focused feature, actor and comedian Chris Rock (at Sundance for his new film “2 Days in New York” from Julie Delpy) asked Lee if he would have done anything differently had he “actually gotten… studio money” for the film. Lee’s response was a fiery one, fueled with comments that condemned the Hollywood studio system for knowing “nothing about black people.” “We never went to the studios with this film. I bought a camera and said we’re gonna do this mother[bleeping] film ourselves. I didn’t need a mother[bleeping] studio telling me something about Red Hook! They know nothing about black people,” Lee said in response to Rock’s question, according to the New York Post . “And they’re gonna give me notes about what a 13-year-old black boy and girl do in Red Hook? [Bleep] no!” Lee’s response was nothing short of perplexing to Rock, who told MTV News that he “just asked a normal question.” “I just asked him how it would have been different if he’d had it financed by a studio. If he had more money,” he continued. “That was it. That’s all I said. Everything else, I don’t know. You gotta ask Spike.” In “Red Hook Summer,” Lee tells the story of a young boy sent by his mother from Atlanta to spend the summer in Red Hook, Brooklyn, with his grandfather, a strict preacher he’s never met. The film stars Clarke Peters, Jules Brown and Thomas Jefferson Byrd. Do you think Spike Lee’s criticism at Sundance out of line? Sound off in the comments section! Jane Carrey Just Latest Famous Kid On ‘American Idol’

Shannon Magrane, Jordin Sparks and Nikko Smith also have bold-name dads. By Gil Kaufman, with additional reporting by Katie Byrne Jane Carrey on “American Idol” Photo: FOX For years, singers have done just about anything they could to get the attention the judges on “American Idol.” There have been wacky costumes, shameless flirtation with the panel and some truly horrible original songs . But one surefire way to pique the interest of Randy, Steven and J.Lo (not to mention Simon and Paula in the past) is to reveal in your bio that your dad is already a bold-faced name. The latest case-in-point is Jane Carrey, the 24-year-old daughter of actor Jim Carrey , who tried out for the show Sunday night. The judges enjoyed her rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About,” while former Fly Girl Jennifer Lopez remembered seeing baby Jane on the set of “In Living Color” when she shared the stage with Carrey. But she’s just the latest “Idol” wannabe to use her name to get in the door. Just last week, we met lanky Shannon Magrane , whose father was the starting pitcher in two games for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1987 World Series. Magrane is among a long list of athlete offspring who’ve given “Idol” a shot. In season seven, we briefly got to know Alyonka Larionov, daughter of former National Hockey League star Igor “The Professor” Larionov, who helped pave the way for Russian hockey players to join NHL teams back in the late 1980s. There was also season-four crooner Nikko Smith, son of Hall of Fame baseball player Ozzie Smith. “Being around my dad and him being in the spotlight kind of prepares you and you have an outlook on things that’s a little bit different, because you’ve been around celebrities and people in the spotlight,” Nikko told MTV News in 2007. But perhaps the biggest jock descendant to make it to the “Idol” stage is Jordin Sparks, the season-six winner whose father is former NFL cornerback Phillippi Sparks. The year she won “Idol,” Jordin recalled to MTV News taking pictures with her family for national magazines and seeing fans swarm her dad for autographs. “He actually told me the other day that when he would sign autographs, I would just be watching so intently,” she remembered. “He said it was really weird, because he was watching me [sign autographs] the other day, and now it’s all turned around.” It also helps to have some music-industry blood pumping through your veins. In season eight, that meant some extra shine for David Osmond, who made it to Hollywood Week that year thanks to his famous singing family’s pedigree and some very smooth vocals but flamed out due to laryngitis. Season-six contestant Sundance Head, son of “Treat Her Right” singer Roy Head, ended up in 13th place on the show. Before he surprised the political world by winning late Democratic stalwart Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in 2010, Republican lawmaker Scott Brown’s basketball-playing daughter Ayla made it into the top 16 on the show in season five.
