A new reality show, “H8R” (pronounced hater), is coming. And it sounds a little ridiculous. However, the CW network has reportedly picked up the one-hour series and will unveil it at its upfront presentation on Thursday, according to Deadline . Mario Lopez will host “H8R,” in which celebrities confront their biggest haters and try to convince them that their animosity is misdirected. Lopez is also executive-producing the show. Reality stars Snooki and Kim Kardashian are the only celebs revealed to appear so far. Most people are superstitious in some form or another. Celebrities and athletes have routines to rid their minds of nervous energy before a performance or game. Usher separates bags of M&Ms by color. Missy Elliott will go back to her starting point if a black cat crosses her path. Many do these things as not to get bad luck. However, the most coveted things in Hollywood bring upon the worst luck. Take a look at our list of the curses of the entertainment industry. The Curse of the Best Actress Oscar Winner Victims: Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock As an actress, women dream of one day accepting the Oscar for their riveting work in a film. The women who have graced the podium were extremely happy. They weren’t so happy once the celebration of the win died down and reality set back in. When Halle Berry became the first Black actress to win this award, Eric Benet was at her side. She filed for divorce a few months later after discovering his sex addiction. Sandra Bullock was blindsided with the news of her then husband’s two timing with model, Bombshell McGhee. Now what? Actresses are going to have to decide if they want to go for the gold or keep their husbands? It seems that way. The Curse of the Best New Artist Grammy Winner Victims: Arrested Development, Toni Braxton, Evanescence When Esperanza Spalding’s name was called as the 2011 Best New Artist Grammy winner, the whole world was stunned. Some because they had no idea who Spalding was and others because of the dreaded curse. Arrested Development was one of the biggest hip hop groups in the early nineties. They had hits with “Tennessee” and “Mr. Wendel.” They accepted their trophy in 1993 and disbanded shortly thereafter. Toni Braxton was the recipient the following year and her financial issues have been well documented. You might say we’re grasping at straws, but the proof is in the pudding. The Curse of the Reality Show Victims: Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro, Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler We’ve become a society that needs to know all of each other’s business. when it comes to celebrities, we just can’t get enough. Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson invited viewers into their home with the mega hit, Newlyweds. We got to see Jessica ask the infamous ‘is tuna chicken or fish’ question. By the end of the third season, we could see the cracks showing in their relationship. They divorced a few months later. Carmen Electra and rock guitarist, Dave Navarro, fared much worse. Their show centered around the planning of the nuptials. Their wedding invitation featured a picture of them as corpses holding hands on morgue tables. Needless to say, their marriage was dead on arrival. Related Post: Halle Berry Likes To Ride Motorcycles 2011 Oscars: Halle Berry & Jennifer Hudson [RED CARPET PHOTOS]
I can definitely say I am very lucky to have had the chance to meet Justin Bieber on 2 different occasions. The first time I met him was on August 4th of 2010 in Orlando, Florida. For my 14th birthday, my parents got my friend Kylee and I a hotel room at the Hyatt Grand Cypress because we stayed the night in Orlando and we also got tickets to Justin’s concert. My cousin is in the entertainment industry and works with different celebrities so he got us the Meet & Greets. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were both freaking out telling all of the workers how we were going to meet Justin Bieber. One of the workers at the front desk even prank called me telling me it was Justin! We were so anxious and decided to get ready a few hours before the concert only there was a problem. The hotel room wasn’t ready because the people staying in our room didn’t check out yet! Kylee and I had to get ready in the hotel bathroom! As soon as we were done getting ready, we headed over to the Amway Arena because the Meet & Greet started at 5:00 and we had to pick up our M&G bracelets at 4:30. Finally, after waiting for what seemed to be hours, we walked into the Arena and saw huge curtains where we were going to meet Justin. We were waiting and waiting, we even met 2 other nice girls in line. Suddenly we heard a few people gasp behind us and I saw someone out of the corner of my eye. I didn’t think much of it but it was JUSTIN BIEBER on his segway a few feet away from me!!! He zoomed past us and headed for the curtains! My sudden reaction was to slap Kylee as hard as I could which I did haha. A few minutes later, Kylee and I were next in line. I took a deep breath as I saw KENNY look at me. He told me, “Whatever you do don’t pass out.” and then he smiled. Then another security guard opened up the curtains as I saw Justin Bieber stand right in front of me. He took of his hat, shook his beautiful hair and put his hat back on as he waved us in. My friend Kylee actually walked in first because she claimed that as soon as I saw Justin, I froze and stood in the same spot for a couple of seconds. Then I walked over to him and he put his arms around me. He was so soft and he smelled like mint! Then I stood right next to him with our arms around eachother, on his right when 2 other girls walked in behind us and got in the picture. Kylee was on his left. As soon as we got our picture taken, I turned over to him and handed him a bracelet that I made for him. He looked at me, smiled, and said thank you very much. He put his arm out for me to tie it on him only it dropped! We both hesitated to pick it up but he ended up getting it and I said, “Nice meeting you, I hope you liked your bracelet!” He said, “Nice meeting you too. I love it.” I was hoping he would wear it during the concert. As Kylee and I were walking out of the curtains, I turned around so I could take my final look at him up close and personal. Kenny was tying my bracelet onto Justin’s wrist! I was in shock and as soon as I walked out, I fell to the floor crying. After the amazing show, Kylee and I rushed over to Justin’s tour bus and saw RYAN GOOD who autographed my hand! He was extremely nice. I can for sure say that August 4th of 2010 was one of the BEST days of my life! Never Say Never. -@ iitshaley Read the original here: I can definitely say I am very lucky to have had the chance to…
Leo DiCaprio, Joe Jonas, Alicia Silverstone and more are doing their part for Mother Earth. By Jocelyn Vena Leonardo DiCaprio Photo: Kiyoshi Ota/ Getty Images Some of Hollywood’s biggest names have been open about their love for the planet. So in honor of Earth Day, MTV News zeroed in on some of La La Land’s greenest superstars to show the ways in which they’re using their celebrity to shed light on important environmental causes. Leonardo DiCaprio has set the bar very high for other green celebs. And he is, in many ways, the face of environmentally-minded Hollywood. Not only does he have his own foundation focused on finding sustainable options, but he also wrote, produced, and narrated “The 11th Hour,” a film about the dangers of global warming. Much like DiCaprio, Ed Norton is a well-known activist who has worked with charities that help bring attention to Mother Earth. Norton has also teamed up with the Enterprise Green Communities Initiative and BP’s Solar Neighbors program. He recently worked with Joe Jonas for the singer’s Change for the Children Foundation. Joe has been vocal about the ways his fans can help the planet. Last year, he recorded the song “Make a Wave” for the “Oceans” soundtrack, and he spoke MTV News about getting involved. “There [are] a lot of things that people can do to help out that they don’t really know about. The movie really … helps you understand what you can do. Whether it’s really taking your time and going to the beaches and helping out or whether it’s something at home, there’s so many different things that if we all do it together, just like anything else, we can make a big impact.” Alicia Silverstone, a vegan , continues to spread the word about eating sustainable foods. She released a cookbook, “The Kind Diet,” and shared with MTV News why she feels it’s important others eat in a way that’s both “kind” to the environment and their own bodies. “I started to glow, and people were like, ‘Why do you look so great?’ I felt so much better, and I used to take an asthma inhaler and I used to get allergy shots — and all that stuff went away. And my skin got great,” she explained. “So what I found was at first, I thought this was good karma.” Other well-known celebrity activists include Hayden Panettiere, Chace Crawford , Rosario Dawson and American Ferrera. Cyber-security pro says teens are ‘playing crazies online as a way of acting out.’ By Gil Kaufman Rebecca Black Photo: Getty/ Jason LaVeris The Internet has brought stars closer than ever to their fans and opened up an unprecedented two-way path of communication between once-untouchable celebrities and their biggest followers. But it has also opened up a forum that deranged or attention-seeking devotees have begun exploiting as the latest and most serious form of cyber-stalking: anonymous death threats. The latest victim of such attacks is “Friday” sensation Rebecca Black, who ABC News reported has been receiving threats by e-mail and phone ever since her song became a viral sensation. Police in Anaheim, California, have begun an investigation into the actions against 13-year-old Black, and cyber-security expert Parry Aftab told MTV News that it’s important to not take such anonymous threats lightly. “The thing is: They think they can get away with it and that’s because they often do get away with it,” said Aftab, one of the leading experts on cyber-security and cyber-abuse issues. “A death threat is actionable in every state, and when someone like Justin Bieber (his girlfriend Selena Gomez ) or Rebecca Black gets them, they tend to brush them off as someone who is on the Internet and doesn’t matter, but you don’t know the difference between someone wearing Pokemon pajamas and living in their mom’s basement who is harmless and people who are really nutty enough to kill you.” Aftab warned that all the big social networks are now taking enforcement of cyber-stalking very seriously and working with law enforcement to root out the attackers. “These are people looking for attention, with nothing else to do in their lives,” she said. “They’re not mature enough to deal with society and don’t know how to get attention in good ways.” And while they may be empowered by the anonymity of the Internet and they may get the attention they seek by taking on someone with a high profile and millions of fans as a quick way to gain cyber-fame, Aftab warned that these actions are absolutely against both state and federal laws. “If you make a threat of serious bodily harm or a death threat, a true threat, the Supreme Court has ruled that that is not protected by the First Amendment,” she said. And while these actions are often the work of lonely “trolls” who are seeking attention, Aftab said even if some are posted by fellow teens who are jealous, looking for a thrill or just joking around, authorities will take them seriously. “If you’re in an airport and you’re goofing around with your friends in the security line and talk about, ‘He’s got a bomb,’ you are going to go to jail. It might be funny, but there are very clear-cut laws and this is one of them,” she said. “There are many cases where it’s a 15-year-old on the other side and they’re not crazies, but they’re playing crazies online as a way of acting out.” Friends joking around is one thing, but according to federal cyber-stalking laws, if you communicate with someone anonymously and they can’t evaluate how real the threat is and your intent is to annoy or harass, the FBI can investigate it and you can go to jail for two years. In a case like Black’s, where the singer has elicited a lot of negative response from people who are annoyed by her simplistic, insanely catchy song, Aftab chalks the death threats up to a loss of civility and people not knowing how to object to something without resorting to the most extreme words and using the secrecy of the Internet as a screen for their hate or jealously. “They think it doesn’t matter because they’re only words and they’re doing it anonymously on Facebook, but they don’t realize that it’s just as legally actionable as if you went up to [a celebrity] face to face and said, ‘I want to kill you.’ ” As for how victims of such actions can protect themselves, Aftab suggested the victim keep the communication going with the person making the threats, but not respond to them or say they’re going to report them to the authorities. In the meantime, they should contact the local authorities and, she suggested, visit a site like SpectorSoft , which offers what she called the most powerful monitoring software available, which is able to log all incoming and outgoing communications on your computers and some smartphones and trace them so authorities can find out who is behind the harassment and bring charges. “Run silent and run deep, but do not respond,” she counseled. “It only feeds this.” MTV’s ongoing project also provides stories and resources for anyone who believes they are being cyber-bullied or who is looking for ways to stop harassment by digital means. Producer talks to Mixtape Daily about the 4/20 release, plus his updates on Mobb Deep, Roc Marciano, more. By Alvin Blanco Alchemist Photo: MTV News Mixtape Daily: Behind the Beats The Alchemist has plenty of sonic concoctions on tap for 2011. One of the esteemed hip-hop producer’s latest projects is New Orleans rapper Curren$y’s Covert Coup mixtape . And while Alc is used to dropping projects that are strictly for sale, the Coup tape is a free release. Chalk it up as a small price to pay for working with an ambitious MC like Spitta. “He got his own zone,” Alchemist told Mixtape Daily of Curren$y. “I hadn’t worked with him before that but when he worked, he works quick. Same way I work, too, which is good because we were able to knock out a couple of joints the first day and decide where it could go. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t want to make anything that was like [what] he had done before or I didn’t want to go too far and make some different sh– either. Let’s just make some fly sh–. The two artists, who met a few years back when Alchemist was working on his Chemical Warfare album, have an in-studio rapport. “Obviously, I guess it would be redundant to say we were smoking weed, we made the music very high,” Alchemist admitted with a laugh. “It definitely is the audio equivalent of that; you’ll definitely feel high after you listen to it. I had a lot of fun doing it, man. He ain’t really restricted with his music as far as how he created, he’s real loose, that’s how I like to be too.” For now, Alc is nixing any rumors that he had a label deal through Shady Records, although he’s still Eminem’s tour DJ . And recent Shady Records signees Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse were sent some Alchemist beats for consideration. And that’s not all. The Hollywood-bred producer has a busy year of projects ahead of him. He’s contributing beats to Evidence’s new album and working on their joint project, Step Brothers. A new Gangrene album is also on the way via Decon Records. Dropping April 20 is Covert Coup, which Curren$y told us was created over a few studio sessions since both Alc and Spitta were adamant about not creating an album by emailing MP3s back and forth. The album is free but they’ll be selling T-shirts via Diamond Supply Co . “It’s an experiment for me, too, to put out an album like this, I usually put it out for sale,” Alchemist said. “We’re planting the seed for maybe a future one for real. I’m trying to get my weight up and see if I can move some shirts. That’ll be my SoundScan first.” On Roc Marciano’s upcoming album : “I’m working with Roc Marcy right now and that sh– is just, he is just, oh my … That’s like my favorite sh– in my iTunes, right now. He came out to L.A. a couple of times and we’re like six to eight joints deep. We’re going to work on a side project eventually but in the meantime anything I can do to help his new album. He got crazy sh–. Anyways, we came together and he just inspires me to make music. His rhymes are on another level, where his deliveries at he’s just so comfortable right now. I’m real hype about the stuff I’m doing with him. Roc is incredible, his rhyme flow, the words he chooses, he’s just on another level. The next album he’s coming out on Decon and I know Tip is helping out. I’m glad I’m helping with that too.” On a new Mobb Deep release : “We got some things in order; when the time is right I’m sure it will be out there. But definitely some plans for this new Mobb music. We’re so deep with music already. Basically, we’re focusing on making the Mobb Deep album first. There’s records already, like, ‘Yeah this is Mobb Deep,’ or, ‘This is P’s solo or whatever.’ Just planning it out and making sure that the first move is Mobb Deep’s best foot forward.” On a sequel to Return of the Mac with Prodigy : “Yeah! We gotta do that sh–. Oh man, it’s so many opportunities now, man! It’s definitely exciting man.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .
‘I want to fight, but … I have to realize that it’s a dance,’ she tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Kendra Wilkinson Photo: James Lacsina Kendra Wilkinson and her “Dancing With the Stars” partner Louis Van Amstel told MTV News they were working on a “fun” foxtrot for this week, and judging by their performance and the audience reactions, it looks like they succeeded. Wilkinson also told us that the “fun” aspect of the competition can be the most challenging — especially on performance nights. “Monday nights are nerve-racking for me,” she said. “I am giving it my all, though … but I can’t help but be nervous. “The anticipation of going into the dance is the worst,” Wilkinson continued. “I’m a boxer when it comes to that. I have a boxer’s state of mind. I’m going into it like a fight, almost,” she explained of her self-imposed intensity. “I want to win, I want to fight, but it’s not that. I have to realize that it’s a dance. I have to remain calm and relaxed. That’s what I’m trying to work on: not going into it like a fight, looking at it like a dance.” But Van Amstel pointed out that his partner’s intensity and commitment make for an excellent student. “I think from all the celebrities, the one who picks it up the fastest is Kendra,” he said. “It is purely the anticipation [on] show day, really psyching herself out, like a boxer does. Your opponent needs to go down,” he said of trying to help soothe tough mentality, “but in the end, it’s only us on the dance floor.” “I really thought last week we were going to be gone, but we have such an amazing fanbase that they voted us through,” Wilkinson said of her fans. “And I’m just so happy.” Do you think Kendra and Louis have what it takes to stick around for another week? Tell us in the comments!
