IRS Don’t Lie: Shakira Is Reportedly Facing Charges For Millions In Tax Fraud

Source: LUIS CHARRIS / Getty Sharika Could Be Facing Some Charges For Tax Fraud After a year-long investigation, the Spanish government is now claiming that  Shakira  will be facing criminal tax fraud charges, according to reports from Spanish newspaper  El Pais . The singer was the subject of a probe that looked into whether she lived in Spain between the years of 2011 and 2014 or not; Spanish law stipulates that if you spent a minimum of 183 days in Spain, you are to be considered a fiscal resident of the country and must pay taxes on your global income–which is the case made against Shakira. According to the same report, this year-long investigation came to the conclusion that Shakira owes upwards of 14.5 million euros to the government. The 41-year-old filed her taxes for those years as if she spent most of her time in the Bahamas, as opposed to living with her partner Gerard Pique in Barcelona. The couple lived together from 2011 onwards, and Shakira even gave birth to her first son in a Barcelona hospital in 2013. Shakira’s defense team said that she wasn’t in the country for most of the time during those years, with the majority of her income coming from her work abroad. She is saying now that she never attempted to hide any of her income, allegedly calling it a matter of “a difference in criteria.” “Shakira has at all times fulfilled her tax obligations and owes no money to the Spanish Treasury,” a  statement from Shakira’s team reads.  It continues, “As soon as she was made aware of the amount that according to the Tax Agency she owed, as a gesture of good faith, she made the payment in full, and, therefore, there are currently no monies owed.” The Colombian singer’s name appeared in the “Paradise Papers” back in 2017, which detailed which celebrities and politicians had offshore financial dealings to avoid tax. Earlier in 2018, Shakira paid 20 million euros to the Spanish government in back taxes.

Nick Cannon Defends Kevin Hart, Calls Out Female Comedians

As you likely know by now, Kevin Hart has resigned as host of the Oscars. But Nick Cannon doesn’t think he should have been forced to do so. Late this past Friday, Cannon defended his good friend by calling out others in the comedy business who have Tweeted negative things about the LGBT community over the years. Hart, of course, has garnered a great deal of backlash over the past week or so after old Tweets and jokes surfaced, many of which were blatantly homophobic. After Hart refused to apologize for these so-called jokes, explaining that he had already addressed them numerous times in the past, he stepped down as emcee of February’s Academy Awards. (And then he compared his situation to the Civil Rights Movement .) Cannon, meanwhile, thinks some kind of double standard is at play here. Sharing a 2010 Tweet by Chelsea Handler that reads “this is what a fag bird likes like when he flexes,” for example, he wrote: “Interesting I wonder if there was any backlash here.” Cannon went on to share a 2012 tweet from Any Schumer, in which the female comedian wrote, “Enjoy skyfall fags. I’m bout to get knee deep in Helen Hunt #thesessions.” “I’m just saying… should we keep going???” the former America’s Got Talent host captioned his message. Cannon also brought up a Tweet Sarah Silverman wrote years ago in which she wrote: “I dont mean this in a hateful way but the new bachelorette’s a faggot.” When an Interner user responded to Cannon with “while you auditing tweets, you need to audit yours!” Cannon replied: “Nope!! You know I’ve been saying f-cked up sh-t since twitter started! I don’t play that politically correct bullsh-t! F-ck politics!! Only Truth!” By saying this, however, Cannon sort of went ahead and demonstrated the entire problem with Hart’s former Tweets and current response to them. When asked about some of her past language, Silverman once said the following: “All I can do is learn from it, be changed forever by it, and do what I can to make it right going forward. Certainly stuff that I did 10 or 15 years ago, I cringe at now.” Conversely, Hart never issued a mea culpa for his homophobic remarks, many of which can’t be considered jokes of any kind. (“One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay,” he once said on stage. “That’s a fear… as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.”) To quote Hart’s good buddy here, it sounds very much like Hart was just speaking his Truth. And that’s the entire problem. This bigot hates gay people. After realizing that his response to the flap could cost him long-term earnings and actually affect his career beyond hosting the Oscars, Hart did finally say the following on Thursday: “I’m sorry that I hurt people. “I am evolving and want to continue to do so… I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community and for my insensitive words from the past.” Whatever, Kevin. We’ve moved way past you. Here’s a look at who we think should host the 2019 Oscars instead . View Slideshow: 14 Celebrities Who Don’t Really Like Gay People

‘A Different World’ Cast Presents HBCU With $100K Scholarship Check

Follow this link:

T he hit late-80s sitcom A Different World was instrumental in shaping the narrative surrounding Black students and higher education. The cast of the show recently paid it forward by presenting a $100,000 check from Ford to an HBCU, Ebony reported. The Cast of 'A Different World' Discuss the Show's Cultural Impact https://t.co/MuzZcZkKaC #HBCU #HBCUnews — HBCU Lifestyle (@HBCU_Lifestyle) November 21, 2018 The check, which was a part of Ford’s Ultimate Homecoming Takeover initiative, was given to Southwestern Christian College in Texas, the news outlet writes. The initiative was launched as an avenue to empower Black students to further their education and strengthen programs at historically Black colleges and universities across the country. Amongst the cast members who presented the check were Cree Summer , Jasmine Guy , Darryl Bell , and Kadeem Hardison . The actors discussed the Black experience at colleges and universities throughout the country and spoke about the influence of their show. “I loved the diversity of the cast. Usually, actors are the Black person on a show [as in there’s only one type of black person] and it’s very hard to represent everything about Black people in one person,” said Guy, according to the news outlet. “We had different classes, different colorings, different backgrounds, different aspirations and that’s one thing I loved about A Different World . It showed the true spirit about what being Black is, and that it is diverse within itself.” Bell added that the show was powerful in sparking important conversations surrounding the Black community as the storylines addressed social and political issues. “No matter what topic was discussed, it wasn’t a monolithic response; it was something that was always challenging and relevant, it was important and we managed to be funny while we did it! That’s why I think it lasted so long and stayed evergreen,” he said. Several celebrities have shown their support for HBCUs this year. In July, Beyoncé awarded eight HBCU students with scholarships. White Supremacists Utilize App To Trick Soulja Boy, Brett Favre & More Into Spreading Anti-Semitic Views

See the original post here:

Source: Greg Doherty / Getty Soulja Boy, Brett Favre, and Andy Dick might want to let their teams screen their Cameo requests. According to Buzzfeed News , White supremacists managed to trick the celebs into recording videos spewing coded anti-Semitic views and conspiracy theories . Bruh. The two YouTubers in question used the new app where you pay celebrities to record videos. The racist tag team paid Brett Farve $500, Soulja Boy $100 and Andy Dick $99 to unknowingly help their racist agenda by recording the videos with a prepared statement and then they transfer them over to their YouTube accounts in hopes of them going viral. Here is the statement: “Shoutout to the Handsome Truth and the GDL boys. You guys are patriots in my eyes. So keep waking them up and don’t let the small get you down. Keep fighting, too, and don’t ever forget the USS Liberty and the men and women who died on that day. God bless and take care.” Sounds harmless, but the above rhetoric is filled with coded anti-Semitic dog whistles. The use of “small” refers to “small hats” a slur used to describe yarmulkes. “Liberty” refers to an incident back in 1967 during the Six-Day War where Israeli Forces mistook a US Spy Ship for an Egyptian Vessel firing on it and killing 34. The families of those killed were part of a $6.7 million payout from the government, but conspiracy theories continue to float around the incident claiming it was not an accident. All three of the celebs recorded videos on the app saying the statement. Unlike Favre, Andy Dick didn’t mention the entire message in his recording and Soulja Boy added his own twist by telling viewers to check out his new single and adding “GDL for life, bitch.” Spokespeople for both Soulja Boy and Andy Dick denounce the incident with the comedian’s agent stressing that his client was “used and manipulated.” Favre has reached out to the app’s creator and requested the video be taken down and has issued a statement via his Facebook page stating in part: “A few days later, I was distressed to learn that the request came from an anti-Semitic group that reposted my video with comments implying I endorsed their mission. Nothing could be further from the truth.” We just hope they learned from this and screen these requests more thoroughly going forward. — Photo: Greg Doherty / Getty
